  1. From the photograph it looks like that's just a push fit in the bracket. Pull it free and read the part number that will be printed on it somewhere.
  2. Got it! I'll do that. Thanks

Another vote for Bosch AeroTwin. Been using them for on several cars; they last well. Lastest set been on for about 25k miles and still going strong.
  4. The interior alarm will only go off if the car is locked. I've jacked mine hundreds of times with the alarm not going off.
  5. Not realy me, in 45 years literally, not one dealer shop (under warranty) and not one smaller shop, nobody EVER even mentioned brake fluid change ! I was always carefull to do all scheduled services, mostly even ahead of time. Some of those shop owners were my friends and realy, very good mechanics ......so imagine now my surprise.
  6. The dealer has now come back to me and their senior technician said that the car had learnt the driving style of the previous owner and that with 400/500 miles the car would learn mine and the issue would stop… 😂 Needless to say, i’ve walked away.
  7. It is more to do with the software version than the age of the car. The majority of issues were fixed in software version 1941 and later. The software can be updated so if buying a 2022 car just ask the dealer to check the software version and update it before you purchase. And then check they've actually done it.
  8. Sounds positive. Fingers crossed! Garage deserves credit for taking the hit on costs.
  9. Looks like I was wrong about push fit. Top work Lee. If I had the VIN I could see if that part number is a match. Message sent.
  10. In the UK ACC is not a mandatory safety device.
  11. The feature is standard in any EV (or PHEV). It’s usually called pre-conditioning and is used to remotely heat (or cool) a car before getting in it. The same feature is used when parked up and you need heat (or cold) as it avoids needing to run the ICE
  12. Then I guess not using it is the only option. Personally, I use CC for keeping me under the speed limit in villages I'm passing through (like in bulgaria, for example). One lane, 50 MNPH limit, I set it at the begining of the city and deactivate it after, as I like to drive the car, I don't find it useful on twisty / hilly roads. Another use is on highway, where I use the 1st lane, I keep a fair distance from the car in front and rarely someone cuts in front of me, in which case slowing down is something I would do anyway. Maybe preemptively deactivate it when something like this happens is an option? Still, we are offered an automation that we can simply not use, if we don't like.
  13. Hi Koditzdispater, While this does not appear at the moment I would prefer not to be the first with the issue. These lamps i can bet will not be cheap to replace, my CLS Merc had to have a replacement lamp 13 years ago when only 18 months old and that was just shy of £4000 Perhaps now you will understand why i want the lights working as i believe they should DRLs only not all front lamps.
  14. It is apparently now sorted! It's worked fine so far, but only had to start it warm once... 🤞 Apparently the issue was the timing on the diesel pump, and they've not charged me anything, despite it taking 5 hours or something to strip down and retime. As long as it now behaves, I'm reasonably happy! Not sure I'd go to the same garage again for a belt change though... Thanks for the help 👍
  15. I would suggest using a body cam aimed at the speedo and trying to record this when happening. Have the correct timestamp and then ask the dealer to check and reply in writing.
  16. Hello everyone! I'm from Gliwice, new to the forum, and have had a 2018 Octavia for two years now! I'd appreciate any helpful information on coding and technical upgrades! Thanks everyone. 17. Absolutely, if the car works for you it works for you. I think I just assumed it would feel more capacious. It's definitely roomy enough on the back seats. Thank you, I am taking a look at them. But now that I'm bumping up in size, I'm considering the Karoq as well as I love the Varioflex seats.
  18. 65,000 miles or about 106,000 kms is probably slightly low mileage, but you are getting to that point where the parts will fail. I suppose it depends on the duty cycle....if you are doing lots of cold starts etc. then the parts will wear more quickly.
  19. Any rust on the outside edge will also add to measurement error, unless scraped off back to parent metal beneath.
  20. I did allow for that by using a kids geometry set square against the disc, maybe my eyesight is a little bit out. I'll try the cardboard guage when it stops raining and I can summon the strength to lift the wheel again. I think I need more Weetabix....
  21. Am I the only one not to see the original posters pictures instead seeing a message that the content is not viewable in your region, the UK. Crank up the VPN and refresh the page and all there. No doubt a result of the on line safety bill as we must protect people from viewing car p##n. I belong to a coffee forum and all our pictures disappeared there, disturbing pictures of coffee machines.
  22. Is the thing you're measuring with going across the sticky-outy bit in the middle? If so, cut a u-shaped piece of cardboard with a 312mm gap between the legs, and use that as a makeshift caliper.
  23. Go back to them, what you should have done ideally is had them replace the header tank with a new one at the same time as water pump as the system would be near empty anyway
  24. it’s not just a case of unlocking the car, you also need to open a door then close If you don’t do that the car will auto lock again

And another vote for Bosch Aerotwin, used on them on my Skodas and Audis for many years and always been happy with performance and lifetime.

Bosch Aero Twin. I’ve been using these for years on my Passat before the Superb, I normally get about 18 months from them (or about 15/16K miles) 👍
  27. oh yes, sadly it is. Can I suggest that you budget for a set of glowplugs if possible. I state that on the basis that if one has gone, then the others won't be far behind. It will be cheaper to get 4 replaced instead of 1 replaced in the long term.
  28. Not that it really applies in this instance, but just be aware of having fun near the limit in S mode, rather than M. I almost had an incident when I was new to vRS ownership - going around a bend, hard, the car decided to change up. I’m still not sure why as my throttle position hasn’t changed, but the front lost all grip mid corner which it was quite interesting. Aside from fun driving, I also use manual mode for going down steep hills (when I want to gain speed rather than be in second gear), as well as helping it upshift in cold weather. I find that my car wants to hold gears for longer on a cold start - probably to help warm things up - so I usually like to help it into third or fourth.
  29. DOT4 is the required references in VAG workshop manuals. You can find DOT4 in any autostore, some wear specific mention "ABS and ESC compliant". Regarding brands, I've used Valeo, Febi, Ferrodo and Brembo several times without problem. As I do it myself, I rather buy 1.5 liter, just to be sure I have enough fluid to do one of the four calipers twice, if needed... And this costs less than €20. Having it done by a local mechanic is around €80.
  30. I took the car into the dealer and they have fixed the issue now.

I always use Bosch Aerotwin's can't complain with them, shame they only last around a year, but I live out in the country so I get stuck behind anything especially in wet roads where it's not actually raining
  32. I'm going to try and get some 3-D printed, and slightly extended by 5mm each. I already had the bonnet strut grommet and locator 3D printed, great results, for only £4!
  33. If the car is causing no problems and passes MOT no bother I would definitely keep it and get timing belt checked/replaced including water pump plus coolant change. Apart from that a general service. ie all filters plus oil is probably all it needs. As its a DSG then maybe contact a specialist and ask for a quote for oil change and check up. I tend to go along the lines if it isnt broken dont fix it. Alasdair
  34. Decided to get it checked out - if it is the water pump housing, I’d rather know sooner than later. Fingers crossed for me.
  35. Try we buy any car/autotrader etc and see what they say. Was looking at some the otherday on autotrader for my son and anything between 3.5K and 8.5k depending on trim age mileage etc. You could always ask dealer what the trade in would be to get a base price.
  36. Overthinking is something I do very well - especially with my car. I’ve only been driving for four years, and been stung badly with two cars - one from a main dealer. I think one of the better stories was with the second one - a SEAT “master tech” told me that a noise I was hearing over bumps was age related. It definitely wasn’t the fist-sized rock an Indie found lodged in the subframe. As a result, I’ve grown to check and double check something, twice over. For now, anyway.
  37. As i understand it G13 is designed to work in conjunction with the silica bag in the older coolant tanks (for corrosion protection) G12 Evo will afford the same protection without the need for the silica bag So using G13 without silica bag = less corrosion protection. VW thinking might be its better to top up with a compatible coolant than use water alone or nothing.
  38. G12 evo. It superseded G13
  39. Really there should be 0 consumption. In practice many cars leak a small amount. I have never topped mine up (1.4TSI) in 2 yrs. You probably have a small leak. Id locate that if you want to stop the thing using coolant. It may be evident by some pink crusty stuff around a hose or even the coolant cap
  40. Had a go at macro shooting this evening with mixed results. Not really my bag being the impatient sort. Tried before with some flowers, it was a total disaster. Dept of field is the trickiest bit along with focus stacking. A lot of faffing about for one shot tbh.
  41. And now it's fixed. Took it to ADAS Calibration Services https://share.google/BY72y2GnDxnuKK9vn in Bury St Edmunds who managed to get the radar cover off, clear all the spider web etc and then used an Autel to recalibrate and reset. Very happy 😁

A6DTH & thamestrader , The off road button is part of the performance package which is standard on Sportline Edition models but was an over £1000 option on some earlier models which may be why you don’t have on your cars From the 2024 Karoq Brochure “Performance Package. Driving Mode select with ECO function and DCC (Dynamic chassis control). Hill start assist/hill descent control (only for 4x4 engines)
  43. Sadly my experience of Audi in the uk is that they are worse! My 1994 Audi A4 was the most disappointing car I ever owned. And the dealers were horrible, whereas Skoda were great (at least in the UK!) If I can't get any sense I will take it to an independent VW specialist.
  44. I've had "normal" cruise control on all my cars since 1999 and liked using it when I could, which with our increasingly crowded roads became less and less frequently, otherwise I had to keep turning it on and off and resetting the set speed. So when I got my first Octavia 3 in 2016 which had ACC I loved the ability to safely use it much more frequently as it really de-stressed long drives as it adapted to the speed of the vehicles in front. I agree with @NamePlate that I now wouldn't get a car without ACC.
  45. Skoda Maidstone charge 365.16 this does not include filter
  46. I had this, plus other weird faults cropping up in the last three months on my five year old SEL. Advise from my Skoda garage - Try pressing and holding down the key fob ‘open button’ and then the ‘close‘ one. Worked for me.
  47. Yoo bro your files work!! You are a frickign genious how are you so smart bro? I just upgraded to 308 and then 332 from your files like a champ all smoth no errors!
