  1. [SOLVED] Yep, did open that cabling boot - although officially called grommet (wrong word) and I obviously found what expected. Right side License Plate light wires both snapper and several others - including two large ones (I suppose for the electrical lock). Insulated them all first, then added a 5-6cm long extension and re-soldered the light wires - all works fine now.
  2. Summer wheels are on R3H03 20x9 et37, 235/35 tyres
  3. First decent sunset in a while this evening........
  4. None of the above is in Wales 🤣 There are Tesla open to all chargers at the bottom of the A449. Wales is a great deal more than the area around Cardiff.
  5. Lets see just how long the Forties Pipeline keeps flowing. It should have bee n started to be replaced 2 decades ago. Elephant in the room that the UK Energy Minister and others seem to fail to recognise.
  6. Yesterday actually, I changed the front discs and pads as the L&K is in for MOT on Thursday. There was an advisory on last years test to say that the front discs were scoring on the inside faces. Straightforward job apart from the two bolts that hold the caliper are 21mm hex head, so I had to get a socket to suit. The car has covered 101,000 miles and there was still 6mm on the original pads.

  8. Indeed border sign just on the slope down in to Monmouth by the beautiful river Wye though by flooding and pollution by farmers have blighted it recently. Good hill to get so EV regen down. Going the other way the vigilant Glos police oft in the bridge trying to nick people and the M50, was a nice quite to push for the Duck's guts (200) now regularly patrolled not just the M5. Granddaughter going to have to learn Welsh at skool in a couple of years. Lechyd da.
  9. That's the conclusion eventually I came to. The simpler the better... That was me in the past 3 years, killed a perfectly operational TDi to the state of uneconomical repair. As I understand, TSI is not THAT bad, still, I am wary touching anything with turbo in it. Electric is still literally miles away to be a practical choice imho in the countryside/expensive move if you run limited miles.
  10. Yes I tried red grease but it was time consuming for me personally but yes it did the job 😎✅
  11. Monmouth is 100% in Wales, but it is only just.
  12. Plastic cable sleeves are quite hard - obviously will snap and get pulled and bunch of cables are quite tight from FACTORY ! Thanks everybody for inputs - appreciated!
  13. Thanks for all the warranty info. My car will be 1 year old in 3 days! It seems to me that the warranty is something of a jungle and open to interpretation. I'll talk to the dealer and see what the reaction is.
  14. Not sure about the DQ200 DSG gear box but I do know the DQ250 gearbox has a thermostat. If the DQ200 is the same that could be your problem.
  15. The $60 or $70 a barrel is partly made up of taxation on the landing of oil and the decision needs to be made how much the UK needs of a strategic local supply. As we know it us not just a tap that can be turned over as extraction requires many millions of pounds of equipment to land the oil. We will need oil for plastics and other such use if not for burning in vehicles so definitely need a supply line of crude that is reliable ie not Middle East crude or other despotic states.
  16. @lol-lol very true, that is what they say. But then there are so many liars out there. They fail to mention how much profits can be made buying Redundant Rigs or Unsafe ones from bigger companies and running them cheaper and taking the VERY BIG Tax breaks the UK Government / Tax Payers give them to decommission in lands far far away, and to mothball them off Inverness. George Osborne & Sir Iain Wood made the wealthy very wealthy, and the workers pay very high taxes and stopped them being Self Employed and getting dividends. The North Sea is profitable for many, especially the Crown Estates and supposedly UK citizens, but that is not how things actually work. I was working in the Offshore Supply industry in 1980 as were my friends onshore or off, and i have followed closely what goes on and then especially since my son went offshore 16 years ago.
  17. It says this, but I would happily reuse if it's not too badly corroded: 70 Nm + 90° ❑ replace after each removal
  18. Not sure, but will look at workshop manual now for you.
  19. Find my thread on wiper relay replacement in Fabia Guides section. Pretty sure that within that somewhere are instructions for shorting two pins of the relevant BCM connector to test stuff beyond the relay.

I am pretty certain that only the smallest (253 mm) discs as fitted to the 1.2 can be removed by fiddling them out. My 2012 1.4 TSi had 272 mm discs and (from memory) they could not be fiddled out and therefore needed the caliper carrier etc to be removed. This involves very tight fasteners and a special 12 point spline driver, so you need the car high enough to use a breaker bar.
  21. A pair of tin snips will help 👍
  22. I prefer the look of the white lights than the yellower ones. I’ve coded them to be on with full beam only. And they come on for corner lights. Throw out a nice spread of white light. Shouldn’t annoy or dazzle anyone.
  23. Got mine in Dec.21. just a year old. Bought it from Cazoo. The car was indistinguishable from new, but the infotainment system never worked properly from the day I got it. To be fair Cazoo did everything they could to fix it via a main dealer but always with only limited success. The car was totally unreliable exhibiting all the faults so often mentioned in these forums. We had holidays spoilt, paid money to Skoda garages to update software, only for the car to fail again and again. I got Skoda UK involved twice in trying to provide a fix but, ultimately, the owner of my local Skoda franchise, stepped in after the infotainment system went berserk on their forecourt. The infotainment screen was changed last May under warranty, and after three and a half years, at last, I have a 99% reliable car (‘front assist unavailable’ still comes and goes at random times in random weather! Nobody knows why.). I appreciate that the new, ever expanding and intrusive computerisation of cars mostly brought on by safety considerations, is applicable to many marques, but some manufacturers seem to deal with it much better than others; and you’re so right about falling foul of newly introduced car software. I assumed that because of the rave reviews by owners of all previous marks of Octavia that the mk4 would be just as reliable. I never realised I was a shakedown guinea pig for an entirely new type of VAG computer system. Should have done some homework, but I just fell in love with the style of the new mk4 and jumped at the chance to get one when they were so hard to come by. Nearly a year’s waiting time was quoted when I made enquiries at my Skoda dealers in early autumn 2021. Now the car is reliable, I’ll keep it for a few years, but when the time comes to change it I’ll do a lot more research before I buy. Might even lease for the first time in my life!
  24. So global Gas prices might well be going up. Many seem to forget that oil does not just flow though pipelines, natural gas is required to push it along. UK Energy security not great as far as Fuels, Gas or even electricity.
  25. Must be, our 2012 Roomster no doubt has the same arrangement, but is out and about just now. Can probably see with front wheels parked at an angle??
  26. You can get warm white led fogs if you wanted - but looks like the colour temp is what you wanted to change anyway. Can’t remember the last time I drove in fog either though tbh. Or whether I can turn fogs on with auto headlights on
  27. How do you mean wrong e-mark? As in it’s a fake mark? Hoping those shots are full-beam and not dipped; otherwise you’re going to get flashed a lot. How does the dipped beam line look? It shouldn’t go above the door line on other cars then you’re fine tbh.
  28. ^^^ Fair enough, but i use Red Rubber Grease where appropriate and reachable. Brake / seals / boots, O-Rings etc etc.
  29. Look for the thin grey/red wire in the tailgate bellows, you will almost certainly find that it has parted.
  30. Presumably you have lifted the floor of the boot and checked that there is nothing loose underneath? You've said "I'm reluctant to take the car to a dealer as I'm very doubtful if the rattle would be investigated as part of the warranty". But the rattle could be a symptom of a serious mechanical issue and, if you can easily demonstrate the noise to a Skoda dealership (and as your car is so new) I can't see why they should refuse to investigate the issue free of charge. If you don't ask, you won't get...
  31. @Binx1310 If white is not so good for fog which is true, is your upgrade just to give you a Chav look driving about, or will you only use them when no other road users about, where nobody can be annoyed, & maybe when you are not able to see with Full Beam on because you have poor eye sight?
  32. White isn’t so good for fog. You can get ones that switch between white and yellow so you get best of both worlds but they’re much more expensive. Might be a future upgrade if I find the white to be problematic for the few foggy days we have. https://autobeam.co.uk/collections/switchback-fog/products/led-h8-switchback-fog-unit
  33. Via the cars Stereo Vehicle - Personalisation - Scroll to the bottom for the option to Turn it off Seems you have the extreme issue the other end of the scale to what I had
  34. Much much more needs to be done in order to even make private buyers consider switching over.

No idea why the manual says this - bit of a waste of time. Just boot it a few times, and it'll do what needs to be done. I can tell when my vRS regens. It'll be, as @Warrior193 has said, on a closed throttle overrun. In other words, shortly after I've put my foot down, I'll come off the gas (usually on a slip road or the like) and the car will hold the high revs for a few seconds. That's what the manual is trying to get you to do - high rpm (S mode) and overrun (lifting off). FWIW, a GPF is totally different to a DPF. A DPF needs the high temperatures of constant driving to remain clear. With the exhaust being hotter and higher velocity, petrol cars don't need to be taken specially for a regen drive. It's just not needed. Certainly, a GPF has nothing to do with shaking in limp mode (it would also tell you if the limp mode is to do with the emissions system).
  36. slightly regretting not saving up a bit more and getting a high spec petrol particularly to do some of the performance (and exhaust note) modifications, but then I look at the MPG and the fact it accelerates plenty fast enough for me and im a bit more content
  37. Look for a broken wire in the tailgate wire groomet, according to the wiring scheme, the license light should have 2 different wire for the power, one for each light. (i've looked at the one of the fabia, later i will look on elsawin for the roomster), but i belive is something similar,
  38. fitted the LED fog light bulbs this morning. No errors or flickers. Really pleased with the look. Will take some pics in the dark tonight Can you guess which one has been changed so far?
  39. Caps cost me £11 something each from my local Skoda dealer, was actually cheaper than anywhere else I could find. Luckily mine had 2 screws in each pack lol. I do find though the caps are quite hard to remove again though as there's not much to grab (another design flaw!) so I added a bit of grease around the cap oring to help in future removal.
  40. Most/many car owners in the UK begrudge even an annual engine oil & filter change let alone more timely and frequent changes if required. They also like to use the cheapest engine oil they can get their hands on, hopefully to specification for the engine. A 3-year old Fabia in the UK will be out of manufacturers warranty (usually?, I forget if you can pay for longer) car manufacturers here offer 5 and 7 years but not the VAG lot AFAIK. So second and subsequent owners may or may not stick with timely service and maintenance of the whole car including looking after the engine, looking at a dipstick (virtual or real) is outside of their ideas of car ownership. Carbon cleaning reminds me of going back to the quaint old times of decoking the engines on a service basis when petrols and oils weren't as good as they later became, how we have progressed with all of these technologies. 😄 Most are concerned with fuel economy driving and would think 10 miles, or less, at 50-60 mph in top gear to be a suitable blow-out run but there would have to be another reason for the drive otherwise rightly considered as a waste of petrol, time and life. Having lived with older and elderly people for the last 44 years I have experience of cars that are used almost, or always, exclusively for very short trips with very low to extremely low annual mileage, luckily most don't yet own direct injection turbo engine with petrol particle filters cars.
  41. it is unusual way to check gearbox oil. if gearbox is not leaking visible, oil level is correct, if it is not changed for years, change oil, you need 1.5 litre ow 75w80 oil and 17 allen key. if you dont have it, use M10 bolt long about 5 cm and put 3-4 M10 nuts on it and tighten them. this should be good as tool.
  42. On a 25 year old car it could be a good idea to change the gearbox oil to help a bit with shifting, replacing the gearbox oil with fresh new better quality gearbox oil after a thorough hot/warm drain of the old oil and whatever else out of the box. Don't follow some of these idiot guides available on the internet, always check and remove the filler/level plug before removing the drain plug as you don't want to find you can't get the filler plug out after you have drained all the oil out of the gearbox. Redline (MTL) if you can get USA stuff or any good quality synthetic 75W or 75w-80W or if it is hot in summer 75w-85 or 75w-90, all to GL-4.
  43. Skoda Mk3 & Mk4 Fabia from 2021 to present are available with 1.0 MPI engines.
  44. Which is why I suggested that a MPI might be best choice.
  45. The power required towing at 57MPH whether on the level or on a slight incline will be exactly the same whether the car is 150BHP or 190BHP, surely it doesn't require remotely like 150BHP at this relatively moderate speed?
  46. I guess I missed your reply as well @Breezy_Pete, but thanks for the input:) Here are some updates on my issues, in case anyone is experiencing something similar: A few weeks ago I was in contact with a parts retailer here in Norway, and they quoted me for a used B-revision throttle body. I specifically asked if they could guarantee compatibility, given that the B-revision is not listed as superseding the base revision 03F166062. He seemed adamant it would work. Still a bit sceptical, I decided to give it a try. Fast forward a few weeks, and I have now installed the new TB. There were a few hurdles getting the ECU to accept a new TB adaptation, but I think that was mostly due to the coolant temperature being too low. Once I got that to work, it seems to run just fine. Idle is smooth, and no fault codes or EPC lights. Based on this, it seems like 03F133062B is indeed compatible with the 1.2 CBZA. I only did a 20 minute test drive though. I'll post here again in a few weeks once I've done some more miles.
  47. i removed the chrome trim below too, here you can see: 1) stock 2) black front grille and trim 3) black logo
  48. Heres another go at it. Got silver mesh from local auto parts store, painted it black and installed it behind the grill and front lip also found its way under the bumper. Much better now !
