  1. Quite misty at Rufford Park tonight and came across a lovely Frog!
  2. My previous Octavia came without the map SD card for Amundsen (and the dealer said they couldn't get one) so I spent a few minutes on eBay and found many suitable Skoda map SD cards, look for one with a part number beginning 5L0 051 236. Since you have a MIB2 make sure you get at least a 16GB or 32GB Skoda SD card (I use a 32GB card and the full Europe AS maps). There is a thread on here 2026/27 MIB2 maps with links to the latest 2026 maps for the MIB2 Amundsen, and I can confirm they work on mine.
  3. No. During the charging I connect the (-) on the ground pin (not directly on the battery). The (+) is connected on the battery. When the car is not in use it is locked and the key is outside the car range.
  4. Hey I suggested this to the garage when I dropped it off and they said they found some evidence of residue and leakage, so hoping we've got it! Excellent shout!!

100% correct. The position of the dipstick for the EA888 was never in front like that so the car is a diesel. In addition there is no 4WD petrol RS model.
  6. Yes I believe any Skoda-branded SD navigation card will work, it is also possible that any VAG card will also work - you should try for 32gb card if you intend to use full EU maps as the 16gb card reportedly requires files to be edited-out to fit. There was a member selling 32gb cards on this forum a few years ago, otherwise try Ebay - there are sellers on there.
  7. Now to give it a deep clean (well most of it. I still have the front seats and footwells to do and to put it all back together! 😁).
  8. Right I can now post more photos so I’ll continue with my project thread 😁 So now off the trailer I get my first proper look around my new acquisition! Muddy ✅ Dog fur ✅ Horse feed ✅ Wheel trims missing ✅ Etc etc ………but it looks pretty straight for a cheapy!! 😁👍
  9. Repaired the rear vent sliders today using parts from AliExpress. https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ez54g1O Slightly more brushed than bright chrome surround but they don’t look too out of place and work well. You have to fully dismantle the unit to be able to slot everything in. All done in about 10 minutes.
  10. When I got the car back in November I was trading in a 21 Plate Fabia wanting an upgrade in terms of spec and size. I had previously had a 150PS TDI Superb 3 so knew thats what I wanted again. It had 123,000 miles and a few age related tatty marks and body marks. Most of the interior lights had been changed to White LED, AdBlue had been coded out and it had some hideous quilted floor mats. The wheels had been refurbed in dark metallic grey and the calipers painted red. The reversing sensors were not working and the dealer fixed those before collection. It also had a glow plug fail which was replaced under warranty. As the list on my phone of minor changes is getting longer and longer I thought its about time I started a thread on the projects page. Nothing major, just tarting up and simple improvements. Most of these things are well documented here already by others but I'll provide links for those wanting to do similar changes. So, the next task was to replace this cable. I pulled in a new 22AWG cable and connected it into the wire close to the plug within the tailgate, and the other end at the plug just below the D pillar. Its so handy when jumping in the car quickly and not needing to plug the cable in. I was sceptical of such a cheap unit but I have to say it has been flawless. A slight lag between changes on the screen and changes in audio, but no worse lag than the OEM wireless in the Kodiaq. It is also small enough to allow the cover to be closed with it in situ. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005010493905846.html Route usb from rear charging port to armrest - as the front port is occupied with the wireless dongle, and to have the wire coming out in the armrest and allows the rear ashtray to be closed with it in situ - Based on the solution by @JR RS Slimline 12v to USB adaptor - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007463964127.html 90 degree USB C to Lightning flat cable - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009346861759.html (I also bought the USB C version in anticipation of the next phone upgrade being USB C not lightning) Parking ticket clip - Its amazing how I didn't notice this was missing until I went to put a parking ticket in it. Having had Skodas for the last 6 years it was such a natural thing to stick the ticket into it. Had to go OEM for this one. I am sure I could have got it cheaper from a local dealer, but for the convenience I ordered from Skoda Parts. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/3v0867333-parking-ticket-holder-skoda-15521.html Wheel nut caps - There were none on the car when I got it and they just looked a bit shabby. I haven't fitted these yet as the ones for the locking bolt are a bit tight and need the ridges sanding off fromthe inside. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007215903363.html Mud flaps - I fit these to all the cars I have. UK countryside roads make for a very dirty car and I feel they save the sills a lot of grime. These ones are significantly cheaper than OEM and not a perfect fit, but good enough. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001393849257.html Not sure on the limit for length and photos for a single post, so will continue with a part 2.
  11. Ever heard the phrase "if it's not broke, don't fix it" ?
  12. Found a dark country lane to test them out. Very good. No issue with visibility. It’s a lot foggier than the photos make out! Pics are low beam, fog lights on and off.

  14. Sounds like a slipping clutch or sticking release bearing. It could be a worn clutch plate/bad release bearing or could be slave cylinder thats leaking and contaminated clutch plate which slips then burns off fluid. Check the brake/clutch fluid isnt dropping. Check the bottom of bellhousing for signs of fluid as well. Sons (same car) clutch just gave up suddenly with no prior warning of slipping. One minute he had drive the next nothing. Either way I am afraid its gearbox out to check and while your at it fit a new clutch and bearing plus a new slave. Slave is exxternal on his but actuator is internal so you will see no signs of leaks until removed. His had a solid flywheel which was ok so I just replaced clutch etc. Try changing from 2nd to say 4th or 5th. If it does it then 99% clutch problem Sorry just realised his is a mk1 not mk2 so not sure re clutch slave being internal/external but symptoms are classic clutch slip. Alasdair
  15. Could be the clutch slipping? When you take your foot off the accelerator and the engine slows it will re-engage. Just an Idea, I had these symptoms years ago on a old Hillman.
  16. If it does for all Commercial Providers of Public Chargers, not just Community Based groups & whatever limited quantity of electricity. . As for those businesses that can claim back VAT now @ 20%, what difference is there really? For those that pays and that is that then lovely if prices drop, but means nothing if the VAT decreases and electricity costs increase....
  17. If the vat rate drops from 20 to 5% the gross price will go down by 12.5%
  18. An approach I have used in a situation like this is to ask for a benchmark test drive in an identical spec new Karoq. Drive your car round the route first and note how it behaves. Then drive the benchmark vehicle, depending on the outcome you may be the position to argue that your cars suspension is not the same aa the benchmark vehicle and thus it needs to be rectified.
  19. It should work with or without 1.8 adapter, you can try both options. If it still dosent read, then you need to unsolder chip or at least unsolder vcc leg.
  20. Hello Martin, welcome to the forum. For the Amundsen MIB2 unit, you require a genuine, Skoda-branded (or possibly VAG) SD card for the GPS port. I currently have my Amundsen running on 2025 maps - not sure about latest 2026.
  21. I've got a diesel, but the plastic looks similar. It's a water trap, any deep water ingress will be trapped and drained when the vehicle is clear of the water. Short term measure to try ensure the engine keeps running in deep water - but don't test it by driving through a river!

  23. The bonnet pull on my previous Octavia 2 failed a few years back right outside the place I'd gone to to buy a new battery. The battery guy couldn't work out how to do it so Green Flag came to the rescue. Took him over two hours to do it through the front grilles which rattled from then on. And the reason it failed? The plastic connector in the two-piece cable had cracked allowing the soldered nipple to just pull out.... Not an easy job and I imagine on the Oct 3, it wll be even more difficult with improved security. Good luck
  24. Hi Aldfort I use to be a warranty clerk at a Mitsubishi Dealership so I am reasonably across warranty, basically as long as my actions have not contributed to the fault then by Consumer Law I am covered. The only reason the warranty period was triggered was the battery for some reason had been flattened when held in storage and was recharged in June 2025, when I received the car in December 2025 the car had traveled less than 10km. I live in a hot/dry place (Australia) and the build up of moisture in such things as brake fluid and the engine oil is low and I have only traveled approximately 3,500 km so far so getting a service in 3 months time is over kill. I always maintain good service records, for example my previous Skoda Octavia I maintained for 11 years and the car was in such good conditioned when I traded it in that one of the mechanics bought the car the same day. I am a perfectionist so I prefer to do my own services and always use quality parts and fluids, if there is anything that I can't fix I am happy to pay the dealer to carry out the work. Thanks Quetz
  25. I would monitor it regularly and see. Keep the oil as its excellent for soaking seized parts. I use a 50/50 mix of oil and diesel with a bit of kerosene if its too thick in it as a releasol. Saves a fortune on wd40 etc. Alasdair
  26. ⭐️ a little update for you all! Well after realising the oil level was high, last night I dumped all the oil out to see how much by! To my surprise there was about 8.5 litres in there!! That’s about double!! 😮. It also smelt of diesel and was thin like water so likely cause would be long term failed Regens by driving lots of short journeys. Yes it could be a failed injector but it still drive really smoothly so is looking less likely. I also had all the turbo pipes off and drained the small amount of oil in the intercooler as best as I could. I did find that the oil starts in the system from the crank case breather, which is BEFORE the turbo, so is now looking less likely the turbo seals are at fault 🤞. So it now has the correct amount of new oil and a new filter. It now runs so much quieter but I haven’t taken it for a drive yet. Fingers crossed this may have sorted it 🤞 Thanks all for your advise 😎👍
  27. Maybe or it could be the igniter in the airbag unit thats causing the problem. I would try and cancel codes and see if it come back. If its the igniter etc I would either get a new/second hand airbag or get a specialist check/repair. One on ebay for £12.94 Not sure if its the same as yours. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266283277821 Alasdair

Hi everyone Been on here before and enjoyed reading posts and took a few tips. Site took a back seat as I spent a couple of years doing up a VWT4. Spinal operation and another due so the T4 has gone. We are Double Skoda because we have one Octavia each. 2014 Blue 2.0 TDI cr 2013 Black 2.0TDI cr Both on about 155,000 miles Bought about four years ago. I can't do as much because of my injury but I do get son in law to do stuff under instruction which helps keep garage bills down. I am north Wales based and have vcds which I am happy to scan for someone if they are stuck and don't want to just fire the parts canon, if I'm about. Doing a bonnet catch and front cable release cable ATM so will post separately on that stuck shut one.
  29. nbramwel you are a legend!! Finally the answer has been revealed and it is the Skoda Kodiaq Service Light Reset procedure works for the Skoda Scala Select 2025 1 litre, I've tried about 15 other YouTubes with no success. So thanks nbramwel, Aldfort and everybody else who tried to help. The Skoda Kodiaq Service Light Reset not only works when the service light is present but it also resets the oil and service inspection when they have not been reached, this was particularly relevant to me as my car was only delivered December 2025 yet for some reason had the inspection and oil reset set to be necessary in June 2026 (6.5 months after the delivery date and the car had only 6kms as the total traveled distance. Thanks to All Quetz

I've got 130 on order, can't wait Had a mk1 vrs from new ehich i kept for 16 years and currently driving a kia proceed gt 1st edition but looking forward to returning to skoda
  31. I am not avoiding them. I already contacted my dealer. I have some opet topics with my car where dealer need to fix them in warranty and i have also pointed to them that i saw recall and we need to fix this with all open points.

I have recently seen a post where the member attempting to log-on to Erwin simply input that they were a service garage - and succeeded!
  33. here you can see a tsi vrs https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/517033-what-does-your-engine-look-like/ you can tell is a TSI by the ignition coil, and it dosen't have the diesel filter on the left lower corner
  34. I suspect from that fuel filter that is a diesel model look at this https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/5q0127400f-fuel-filter-holder-tdi-skoda-25673.html and also this is the engine bay from my 2016 octavia (it's a scout but with the 2.0L tdi CUNA 184 bhp)
  35. OP says greater than 14 volts with engine running.
  36. When charging you would expect closer to 15 volts. Do you connect the charger to both battery terminals? Do you lock the car when not using it? Thanks. AG Falco
  37. Also be very aware of and take precautions against static electricity discharge.
  38. I was looking over the weekend how to reset the service indicator on my 2022 Karoq. It seems to have similar screen images as your Scala. I came across this Youtube video for a Kodiaq. I tried it on my Karoq and it worked. It may work on your Scala. Let us know how you get on.
  39. You might not have driving profiles. Have a look at: Car Setup Seats Vehicle key activated It’s a known “feature” that the seats don’t like being saved at the top or bottom end of extremes of settings. If you can store and recall memories then it’s not a software issue with the memory module.
  40. Needless to say that if the need arises to mess with airbags, always disconnect the battery beforehand.
  41. As it was said, code N131 seems to be related to the front passenger airbag. Not certain, but you may have access to it by removing the glovebox in order to check it out. An 'intermittent' fault could be related to an electrical connection: a broken or corroded wire, or a loose or corroded connector in the connecting plug. I would start by checking the loom and make sure that everything is secure. Also, I read somewhere that that same fault code was cleared by replacing the front passenger's airbag with a used one in a Golf Mk4. I've been having a similar problem for quite a while in one of my MK1 Octavias, and I was able to narrow it down to the connections under the driver's seat, most probably the electrical plug: 01217 - Side Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N199) 32-10 - Resistance Too High - Intermittent
  42. That’s exactly what I need right now, something cheap to buy and run, reliable, useful and a little bit funky! (That’s where the mods come in as you will see later 😁😂). I’m not very good at owning a stock standard “normal” car! 😂. I just hope there’s nothing lurking when I start to drive it properly!! 🤞
  43. Absolute bargain by the look of it - you can't beat the bangernomics economy (not that this looks like a banger) 👍 Gaz
  44. Tbh it seems to sound ok. No horrible noises yet but I’ve only driven it up the lane and back so far! I went through the paperwork when I got home and found it had a full service history with stamps every year from 2011 to 2024, then the last owner serviced it himself last year! I was also told that most of its miles were motorway miles so that’s been a little easier on it!! I’ll update with more pics of my progress when this forum allows me to post more than one at a time lol 😂
  45. Part 2 The car was originally supplied with a pump and goo repair kit. The goo was now out of date and I travel quite a bit for work so it makes me nervous not having a spare. I was keen on having a spare that was a close as possible to the rolling diameter of the existing wheels so it could be used without any speed or time restrictions, whilst also fitting under the boot floor. Following the advice shared from @Carlston on a few posts, I chose a 6Jx16 steel wheel with 215/60 R16 tyre which resulted in a less than 0.5% difference in rolling diameter. It fits in the wheel well really well, and fits perfectly on the car. Unfortunately the jack doesn't quite fit inside the wheel, but does fit in the side storage section. Spare wheel - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364188522719 Breaker bar and socket - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403816977765 Jack - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08FTH8N1T Spare wheel fixing screw - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0FP91RLPK Gear gator leather - Thanks to @tombee for his cast off leather gaitor when he upgraded to alcantara. It was from a Mk7 golf so needed some fettling and gluing but is a great improvement on the previous which was damaged and cracked in a few places. Vanity mirror lights - These were the only interior lights that weren't white LED. These ones from AliExpress are VERY bright and they may well prove to be too bright. I have kept the old bulb holders and may change them for standard fit LED bulbs rather than whole units. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006755056171.html Parking brake switch - The OEM one the car came with had a chip in the chrome. 2nd hand spares were a similar price to AliExpress new, so I went with that. Perfect fit and a nice tidy up job. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006998838766.html Rubber boot mat - My daughter is the goalkeeper for a local team. With that comes A LOT of mud. So I wanted something washable to line the boot. I went for the cheapest one I could find on Amazon and its proven to be a really nice fit. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B088FVXYC2 DAB aerial - This one is a bit of a pain. I dont use the radio much, but the DAB signal is terrible in this car. I know the local signal is ok as its fine in our Kodiaq. Following advice from @Cairus I bought the following, and unfortunately it hasn't improved things. I did notice the plug itself was loose when changing the connector so suspect there is something damaged inside the main unit. At some point I will take it out and take the case off and have a look inside. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09ZPHHBNL AC vent covers - Advice from @travs to install these so kids detritus doesnt get lost into the AC vents. Now installed on this car and our Kodiaq. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32904629443.html Clear plastic polish - The dash had a strange cloudy mark on it. From a tip from @Lee01 I tried the Meguiars Plast-RX and it worked wonders. Highly recommended for any clear plastic issues. OBD reader - I had a cheap OBD reader using CarScanner app, and was keen to experiment with some coding which the cheap dongle couldnt support. Based on the advice on the CarScanner website I chose the following. It is brilliant and works seemelessly. Its a really cost effective way to achieve the basic coding tweaks. Allegedly can also do long coding but I haven't ventured into that realm just yet. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XGB4873 So far I have succesfully coded the following: Teardrop wipe front and rear - I have noticed this only works in the dry, as any amount of moisture on the screen and the auto wiping seems to take over. Curtosey indicator blinks from 3 to 5 Refuel level in Maxidot Fog lights on with full beam and mainbeam flash Blower power level showing in auto mode Changed headlight washer interval to 20 from 10 Changed autohold and hill hold to "early". This has made a significant difference to the car, it was quite jerky when coming off autohold and its now silky smooth. Wipers return to park when ignition turned off
  46. Latest Updated Speedcams - January, 2026. Here goes - my first upload for this year. Once again here's the latest update of my customised version of EUR Speedcams ( January, 2026 ). They consist of the full EUROPE speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Redlight Speedcams, Fixed Speedcams , Average Speedcams ( which also include European tunnel speedcams ) and Variable Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons, shown below, to match each of the speedcam categories. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to open the newly extracted folder and place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in your infotainment map menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Hope you all enjoy them! EUR Speedcams - January, 2026.zip * Credit to jungblume2005 from Gpsurl for sharing his files which I borrowed and then converted in order to make this compilation.
  47. Thank you, (I've run the VIN via skodaparts to check the components). Judging just by the number of pins between your steering unit 1K0 953 549 DA and the other available (medium and high versions), there are a lot of pin differences. I've found this website that sells the CC retrofit kit where you can ask for info about: https://wibutec-shop.com/Retrofit-kit-GRA-cruise-control-system-Skoda-Octavia-1Z-from-02-2004-to-05-2010 If you enter your VIN code, the price will go up to €364 because you don't have a multi-function display, which is related to the steering module (cruise control MFSW, etc.), so I believe the retrofit kit will include the module, stalk and wiring. Also, considering the fact that you have access to VCDS, see if you can enable it just out of curiosity, but I am really sure that it will not work.
  48. It does feel quieter and smoother. I was getting a whine in first under acceleration, still there but more muted now. Shift action also feels a bit better. €45 labour, €70 for the oil. Well worth it.
  49. Just ordered V12 update as the car currently has V4 which is so old it only shows Roman roads, with messages like "XXIV miles to destination".
