  1. Definite red flag on no history. Bit odd that there’s absolutely no history but is that place from Skoda HQ? If not, approach them. Gearbox should be serviced at 40k miles so it’s due if it hasn’t been done. Haldex is every 2 years now but it use to be 3 so it should have had 3 services. However the exceptionally limited mileage (if genuine but assume you’ve checked that on the MOT history) should have mitigated running on poor servicing to some extent. My gut feel is they’re pricing it on mileage. If you ask too many questions on servicing etc they won’t bother wasting their time as they know they’ll get that a lot (if not already) and they’ll flip it to auction to be sold as seen. DSG service you’re looking at a few hundred. Each Haldex is about 150 so if nothing’s been done you want to factor in at least 600 for those. If it were me, it’d be an oil change straight away, and possibly brake fluid, air con, plugs. You’re looking at best part of £1k just for peace of mind. Then you want to be looking at the state of the brakes, cabin filter (easy miss if minimum maintenance has been carried out) and look at the air filter too; again that will give you an idea of whether it’s not been touched in a while. Low mileage can be great but it can also mean very short trips, not running the car up to temp often, and prolonged periods of sitting around. So it basically comes down to how the owner cared for it. It’s worth a look, but keep your eyes open, radar switched on and ignore pretty much everything the salesman tells you.

Hi, I'm from Scotland - just east of Edinburgh. I've just recently bought my first Skoda - an old 2007 Octavia.
  3. Hello! I've been meaning to join for a while now, joined the Skoda family with my 3rd car, coming from a Fiesta. I drive a manual 2023 Octavia hatchback SE L, bought it at 8500 miles almost a year ago and I've put about 17500 miles on it since then, and aside from a torque restriction fault that I'm currently dealing with, I absolutely love the car to pieces. Cheers!
  4. I’ve got a 2016 2.0 diesel 190ps For my 6speed dsg it’s a service every 40k miles (don’t think there’s a time interval) Camber is now every 100 or 120k miles with no time interval, whether the pump can last that long though, who knows As for things to look out for, only thing I can think of is usual bumps and creaks, mines still on original suspension components but it’s only done 50k miles Some people reporting their suspension components failing much earlier

  6. Well I’m a little behind on some updates so here we go again! 😁 On further inspection, I found the car had a broken suspension spring! Well I could have just replaced the spring, but where is the fun in that! I don’t need much of an excuse to mod and upgrade! 🤣 I looked on FB Marketplace and found someone selling a full set of Prosport coilovers with mondeo drop links at a reasonable price, so I bought them 👍 On delivery, I stripped and cleaned the coilovers which were almost like new, and I sprayed the threads with motorcycle chain wax to prevent the adjusters from corrosion and seizing. Next up was to fit the kit to the vehicle. I’m really happy with the results. I can’t go super low as I have a steep driveway to contend with but it has certainly made a difference!! 💪
  7. You’re a star, thank you, just what I was after. Cheers :-)

I aim to keep it for as long as I can. Thanks
  9. Because it’s a circuit with wiring nearby the 12v socket which is on a switched live. By wiring it as he did it’s put the switches fuse wiring into series on the 12v permanent live, which because it’s in series, now makes the 12v socket also a switched live. Because his car doesn’t have heated seats it meant the circuit wasn’t being used so it also made it suitable for use.
  10. Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. I shall get the battery checked out as soon as possible. @nta16 In the last 10 yeaers I've not had any need to charge the battery other than run the engine on a journey.
  11. Fabia, Mk2, 3 or 4 only get 1 DSG, the DQ200. Twin Dry clutch, 7 forward and 1 reverse.....
  12. I think the aftermarket ones will as you say omit the precat, which only really affects emissions during warm-up, so not essential for MOT. Both sensor bosses are present on this one, if you zoom in on the images. Not recommending this particular one, there are several similar I think. eBay UKBM Catalytic Converter Euro 4 Fits VW Polo Seat Ibiza Sko...Catalytic Converter Euro 4This genuine BM Catalysts part is manufactured to OE specifications and is offered with a 5 year warranty (General wear & tear not covered). If your part goes faulty at any pGenuine parts have different numbers for manual versus automatic versions, possibly a slightly different set of bends near gearbox? I can look up the correct genuine PN for your vehicle if you let me know the VIN.

    Worked a treat. Cheers Jack25
  14. The DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG has no service interval. But at the mileage i hope it has had both oils in the DSG changed. If it has not been overhauled it might well need Clutch Packs. Has it had Spark Plugs changed in the past 40,000 miles, air filter, pollen filter?

On the hybrids there is a known problem with the 12V battery not being charged when only short drives in electric only mode are made - is yours a hybrid or fully ICE?
  16. Hi Pete, I'll check. Thank you again 👍
  17. I do prefer an angled look than perpendicular to the car. I also think if they weren’t diamond cut they’d look slightly softer. But they’re a good looking wheel in general, they’re forged, rare as hen’s teeth and exceptionally light. Are they perfect for the car? Maybe not but I absolutely love them for all that they are.
  18. For anyone stumbling across this issue, here is a FIX: The problem was one of the cables not being connected properly (on the inside of the unit or display) First I recommend unplugging all of the connections and cleaning them properly without taking the unit and display apart use a small brush and IPA or some sort of contact cleaner If it's the same after connection you have to take apart the unit and display. On the display and the unit, there are screws which you need to unscrew (photo of the approximate locations) on the unit, there are 4 visible, and one under the warranty sticker After the screws are out, you can clean the inside of the unit, mainly the inner side of the back connectors the display needs these hooks to be unhooked (photo) I used 4 plastic pry tools - first unhook the bottom or the upper half - then sides - then it starts to lift and you can unhook the other half Then you can lift it up and clean the inside of the display (mainly all of the connectors that are on the inside) If all of this won't work, you have to check the continuity between the outer and inner connectors and your whole cable line. Thanks @Cairus for helping me and guiding me.
  19. They need more kerb rash to suit that car ;) They look very tidy!
  20. Any more info when you push the 'info' GUI? How old is the Battery? Thanks. AG Falco
  21. Thank you very much, you have been very helpful. Will post before, mid and after photos.
  22. You do realise this topic was almost 6 years ago !!!
  23. I have a 2024 SEL 193ps 4x4 I bought second hand from a Skoda dealer in January - I had to wait till last week to have a Skoda OEM electrically released tow bar fitted. They kept the car for 2 days in case there were any coding problems with it. The towbar and the electrics all work fine. I understand that all Mark 4 Superbs now come with 'towbar preparation'. This means that wiring is in place to the nearside of the boot. The wiring that comes with the towbar includes a control unit that connects to this wiring. Google 'skoda foldable towbar instructions' (the PDF is too large to attach)
  24. Thanks all for replying especially the guy who put the link to the workshop manual. It’s finally done, I filled the oil after removing this plug- see pic. Fitted a new plug also new copper washer on drain plug for peace of mind and happy days!😀👍
  25. Hi, you only need to remove button bezel and place cable into small space under it.
  26. My battery gave up the ghost after 5 years (golf R MK8) due to all the electrical demands on it with "modern cars"
  27. Now i can hear it, its driving me mad. I'll see what its like tomorrow... Or at least would be good to know what it is. Battery was replaced a couple of years back, should be good for a while longer. The passenger footwell was filling up with water, really hard to pin it down looking myself. They found a seam was leaking, would of been up under the window area i guess. Like that from new no doubt, but i guess opened up more to become a noticable problem. They would of removed the whole interior, seats and centre console. Hopefully its not leaking anymore but hard to say without ripping all the carpets up again... £625 later... but they did replace the failed passenger window regulator that failed when i picked the car up under the extended warranty i took out. Guess the drivers side will be next...
