Hello, I’m Viper from Germany, a few people with more technical infotainment background might know me already from other forums and platforms. I’ve seen a few familiar names already. I myself don’t own a Skoda, but I’m home at VAG in general. However we do have a Skoda within the family. It’s a 2019 Skoda Karoq with the 150hp 2.0 TDI as 4x4. I own a 2019 VW Passat Variant R-Line with the BiTDI engine. My better half drives a 2016 Seat Leon 5F 1.6 TDI. We also share a 2013 VW Up! I’m especially interested in VAG infotainment systems and retrofits, as well as vehicle diagnostics. Most knowledge I have around MIB2 systems. Especially MST2 TechniSat/Preh, but also some MST2 Delphi und MHI2 Knowledge. I’ve also patched a few MEN2 units before. MIB3 stuff I’m still learning. Here I’ve made my start just before my introduction by sharing the latest MST2 map updates, which have just hit the Volkswagen servers. I also have quite a few vehicle diagnostic tools, from VCDS (genuine), VCP (genuine), VC-Tool, ODIS, to OBDEleven and other non-VAG specific diagnostic tools. That should be it for now. If you have a place where you usually take your cars for MOT, I would pop in and ask them. I suspect that if all lights (including number plate lights?) are OK, that the warning light cannot constitute a reason for failure. I believe that the 'common wisdom' that 'any warning light is a fail' is simply an urban myth.

Hi everyone! Been driving Skoda’s since I passed my driving test in ‘23 - started with a 2019 Fabia. Loved that car and recently got a new (to me) Mk2 Octavia VRS - excited to be part of the Briskoda community! I’m in south wales, always had a huge interest in cars - my dad was a huge Skoda man hence the preferences…

Appears that it might be something to do with the brakes as the drivers side front wheel is warm and can smell oike something is burning after a small drive.

Look at the connector contacts on both sides. I mean the loom connector which plugs into the whole light cluster. You're looking for crusty corrosion, especially on the contacts of the brown earth wire both sides. Look at the male pins on the light cluster connectors too.

vRS has the 184hp CUNA engine, right? If so, how's your oil consumption? These engines LOVE to drink and burn oil. This can result in the DPF clogging prematurely. If you have excessive oil consumption (more than 1L per 1000km), then it could be your turbo as well. However, if its the 184hp engine and you do have notable oil consumption, I suspect your DPF is just full and needs physical cleaning or even replacing.

And I got the leather cast off gaiter to replace my damaged one. Win win!

Odd that you are unable to find the load plate! The tow weights should also be shown on the Irish version of the V5C document.

Home safely now, Yaris on the driveway (nice quiet, smooth trip home, just over 3hrs). Old battery on charge, taking a good solid 6.2 amps for the last hour or so, seems to be recoverable. Circumstances suggest that Wednesday will be the next mission eastward, with new alternator and every relevant tool I can imagine on board. Sister's car's MOT that day, so will be good to be there if anything unexpected turns up.

The car doesn't have start/stop.

Had it on on my Octavia with no blown bulbs. Had a bit of corosion on number plate lights and when cleaned up light went off. Alasdair

On the dutch parts website onderdelenlijn.nl most available headlight are 5E4, which I believe is for LHD, as this is explicitly a Left head with 5E8 code (which I think is always for RHD with O4) you should be fine. If you are looking at the one available at Klein Gunnewiek, in the comments on the previous site (sort local ebay for car parts) it has the following comment, I have added translation: Koplamp tbv rechts sturende auto (Headlight for right-hand drive car) Verstelbaar : Electrisch (Adjustable : Electric)

Maybe one or some of the new bulbs are not the exact/correct power/wattage. One other thing, if you had bought this car used, maybe, just maybe, previous owner had swopped some filament bulbs for LED versions, and made changes in the car's BCM coding so that the "faulty light" warning then did not come on, and now that the rear clusters have been replaced, the bulbs currently fitted will now be back to being filament bulbs. You'd need to get someone to check the coding for the lights to work that one out.

@Jim Reire Thanks, But i thought the issue was and is, you do not have a 4x4. So really that can not be taken as accurate for your Kodiaq, but it probably is correct. I know AI says as above........... No plate on the B Pillar? If you are going to tow you really want to find the plate, or get the 'Certificate of Conformity' for your car. For whoever if ever stopped at 'roadside checks' when towing, or for the Insurers.

Hi again Evolution, sorry for the delay in replying to you, but finally got the Kodiaq back from my daughter this afternoon ( if you have daughters yourself, and they borrow something just for a day or two, you will understand) Anyway, there's no such towing weight's limit plate anywhere on the car that I can see! And another member is saying the same thing. What I have discovered is : 2'000 Kg Braked Towing 2.0 tdi 4X4, 2'200 Kg Braked Towing 750 Kg unbraked towing. But I'm not finished looking yet. You may want to try disconnecting the headlamp plug and using connect cleaner on it. The bulb detection very good on these. It evens knows before they actually die!

This is not the fault message though. The fault message says "Return to workshop" as well. It may well be that pressing the button releases the selector enough to come off its mark. It may just need a little adjustment. Worst case its £100 OEM or £30 AliExpress and 30 mins for competent DIY to fit the microswitch. That being said, if it didnt do it before the impact but does it since, then I would do as you are and press them to repair as part of the insurance claim.

Maybe "under the seat" will be my option B - it looks neat btw, good job! I don't have sub and I have a small belt on the right pocket, holding the current 1kg extinguisher. I've ordered this Gloria 2kg Fire Extinguisher made in Germany(not because it matters these days.. :D ) but with a bit shorter than the standard Tornado and other local brands sold in Bulgaria. I did this with the hope that it will fit and will be held in the right pocket with the built-in belt. Should arrive some time next week and I'll provide an update. Was that battery voltage on the car or off? If it's that low off the car it's faulty. That low on the car suggests some drain that needs investigating. Regarding VCDS, if you're planning on keeping the car (or at least staying with VAG cars) for more than a couple of years it works out cheaper than the OBD11 annual subscription. Seems like a good investment if you're going to be mostly DIY.

Ditto but mines Black so it shows everything. We had two rounds of Sahara sand in the last few weeks. All but gone now after some rain so just road grime & other debris to sort. After washing & paint correction in the next few days I'm going to attempt some Graphene protection. Failing that I might treat the old girl to a paid detail clean & ceramic coating to make keeping her clean at home easier.

AGM Smart charger should be running above 14VDC on a discharged battery, as should the alternator - even though the new battery has not yet been adapted into the vehicles BCM. Because you are seeing low charging voltages for both the charger and the alternator, I suspect your new battery may have a high internal resistance fault - or possibly a bad chassis earth connection. For the coolant loss, check the EGR valve and have the coolant tested for combustion products.

If you have the app, this will allow you to lock/unlock the car without the key/remote. As noted, fob in the cupholder will allow the car to start If you keep spare batteries in the car, bear in mind that the childproof packaging is really really difficult to open.

Just returned from a 2000 mile round trip to the South of France from Derbyshire. Charged before I left to 100% and again in Dijon on the way back. Autoroute mainly with 50-60 mile pottering about down there.... Sportline PHEV full to the brim with luggage!

Today I gave the upgraded LED lights for the trunk a go again after using way more force than I thought was reasonable to connect the adapter to the LED unit. However I didn't feel quite as confident in doing the same with my wiring harness, so it's in 'good enough' and then a whole load of force to get it into the hole and it's in. Significantly brighter! Lights up the whole of the inside of the boot, and if it's not aimed good enough, just drop the hatch down a bit. However went to replace the glovebox light (just that and the torch left now I think) and learned it's a different unit, so another aliexpress order placed and some little emblems to replace the missing one on my key to get it over the free shipping threshold!

Try removing fuse 43 overnight and see if battery is happier for it. Just a hunch. If you haven't already, it's a good idea to take a photo of the cabin fusebox, to help with correctly refitting any fuses that may get pulled during fault finding. The image below shows a generic layout for (RHD) mk1 Fabia, but there are quite a few variations depending on engine type and fitted equipment, so there may well be more gaps than shown, leading to it being easy to forget where things were even if you only take one fuse out at a time.

It's NOT a firmware for your unit - it's for Bolero MIB1 and AMundsen MIB1 and yours is Columbus MIB1.

A first port of call with HVAC is to get it re-gassed. This is really needed once every 3 years - as the refrigerant leaks out slowly. Then try again.

I bought a 12month old SEL Karoq 1.5 DSL without a test drive (I had test driven one about a year ago and liked it, so bought this one on spec). Anyway, the day after picking up my new car, I had to drive to West Byfleet to see my son, a journey of approx 220miles. Aat the end of that journey my partner's back and my back ached so much we couldn't believe it - worst seat I have ever had in many, many cars over 45 years of driving. The return journey home was even worse! Apart from that, I loved everything else about the car, but as I drive a lot for work, I knew I wouldn't be able to compromise on my comfort, especially as I am now 63! It was on the return journey that I recalled that the Karoq I had test driven a year ago was a Sportline, not an SEL. Anyway, a couple of days later I went back to the Skoda dealer and rejected the SEL using their 7day return guarantee. Luckily, they were extremely cooperative about this and gave me a couple of options to consider. The next day I took a brand new Karoq Sportline for an extended test drive and could tell almost immediately that the seats were chalk and cheese compared with the SEL seats - infinitely better. Back as the dealers, the manager found me an 18month old Sportline with very low mileage and I was able to exchange cars with no upfront costs and ended up paying only £5 more per month for a car with not only way better seats but a way better spec. than the SEL! Roll on to approx. 3,000miles later I can confirm that the Sportline seats are amazingly comfortable and supportive. Shout out to D. M. Keith, Hull, who have put my faith back in car dealerships too!

Turns out magnetic brown isn't quite as good. A house down the street is getting a load of building work done and they managed to cover all the cars on the road with a load of dust.
