  1. Spotted this mischievous little bugger in the garden earlier. He's been getting in the bird feeders and emptying them for a free for all on the ground. Hardly even flinched when I caught him 😂
  2. @tombee - As above, approx. 25mm with DCC shocks as they r already 10mm lower than standard shocks.
  3. I wish they’d provide my preferred facelift which is 4WD with the golf R engine or preferably the RS3 engine a la the Formentor
  4. The Recommended oil by Skoda / VW Group for the 1.,5 TSI ACT has been VW 508 00 / 509 00 since 2018. 0w 20 FS IV. Simples as that.(To get the WLTP & RDE2 Results needed.) No harm done with the VW 504 00 / 507 00, 0w30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III
  5. Hi to all, Bernie from Melbourne Australia. We're now 5 Skoda's on within the family, 2 x Octavia RS, 1 x Karoq and 2 x Kodiaq's, current garage is 1 x Octavia RS mk3 2017, 1 x Kodiaq 2022 and 1 x Kodiaq 2025. Really looking forward to adding something to my RS. Thanks and have a great day. e133f15d-e54c-49b7-b343-03bb23a34cde.jfife133f15d-e54c-49b7-b343-03bb23a34cde.jfifSam Skoda.jfif
  6. I actually have vcds via hexv2 from my last car but wasn’t sure it was going to work due to sfd2 etc … But happy to say I was able to read and delete the codes!! For a new car, there was a ton of error codes showing lol.
  7. I'd suggest just topping-up the tank with premium diesel and possibly consider an early change of the fuel filter.
  8. ^^^ They went 0w 30 FS III just the same for the WLTP / RDE2. Because the engine needed decent oil and not the P!ss poor 0W 20 FS IV .
  9. 0w-30 is the spec for 504/507 which is in mine (the 280) but to add confusion the standard used to refer to 5w-30 and was lowered. The oil will still lubricate and transfer heat; but I’d drain and replace with all of one type to be on the safe side.
  10. With high traffic I wouldn't use them on motorway. I'm working nights and when going home at 3am on empty motorway it is annoying to see them working back to front 🤦...
  11. I did not use mine on a Corsa Electric on Motorways because i did not need them and the made the signs too bright when on full beam and were a danger otherwise.
  12. Besides, I don't use full auto headlights on motorway because I know it doesn't work as it should so no chance to cause accident 😊 It would be nice to actually see how it properly works...
  13. As long as it meets vag spec it should be fine as vw use thinner oils for better mpg and 0w 30 will offer better protection at high temperatures compared 0w 20
  14. Very odd that the SS is still working, but strongly suggest a proper load test on the battery.
  15. No advisory on wiper. advisory on two lower front bushes (the ones in alloy block) which I have but havent changed yet. Failed on another broken spring (front this time) God knows who put the hub bolt in last time. had to use 1" drive and 6 foot scaffolding pole to remove it. Still to do the other side but apart from that not bad at all for a 120K 14 year old car. Going to nick the wiper motor off my old 1.9tdi when I get a chance. Still got a weird wobble only when accelerating around 50mph but it comes and goes so hoping its down to worn bushes. If it doesnt then replacement drive shafts. Alasdair
  16. Potentially unsafe lights... Insurer wouldn't recognise this as a problem as its not something you can detect in average garage.. It's more about VAG and Skoda acknowledging the issue and we already know it's uneven fight....
  17. The MDI is/was a propriety USB port as an option on VAG group cars. On my car I have the MDI cable to USB female. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/287319846346 Plugged into that I have a 500GB HDD that contains all my music files. Works great. I have seen an MDI to bluetooth receiver if that works for you. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/356780893277 You can get iPod cable adapters as well.
  18. Thank you Travs, I am on v332 now too. Regarding maps update, I have prepared 2 same USB keys (64GB) with VW maps on them, one as exFAT and one as NTFS format, both inserted in 2 USB-C ports in the center console at the same time. Result - it worked, several restarts of the device happened and after an hour or so of driving a new version of DB with Navigation Data appeared (from 20.7 to 26.2). However, I don't know now which USB format (exFAT or NTFS) was actually the right one...
  19. Yep, it's about the sale. After that responsibility ends....
  20. Corporate Responsibility. Never bothered them with DQ200 DSG,s losing drive. They got their Arse Kicked in Australia. If, if, if. Porsche BEV,s have a Fire Risk, owners / keepers were told / advised not to charge cars in buildings. People are getting rubbered by the DVSA over Fuel Rail leaks. Broken Bolts.
  21. I used other cars with Full LED headlights and Superb's Matrix Headlights are indeed superb! But I clearly explained to them what would happened in case of some fatal accident. I know it's highly hypothetical but possible. That should at least trigger some worries.... Dear Catherine Moore, Further to the technical addendum submitted regarding the barrier obscuration failure loop, I must also ensure that Škoda UK’s legal and risk management departments are fully aware of the broader litigation exposure this specific platform defect carries. Because this Matrix LED highway light glitch is a systemic software logic boundary error affecting standard RHD platform programming from 2019 onwards, it does not just impact my vehicle. It is actively affecting thousands of Škoda Superb FL owners across the United Kingdom, as heavily documented across major automotive owner forums. In the event of a tragic, fatal collision on a UK motorway caused by an oncoming driver being blinded by a Škoda Superb FL operating with this glitched LHD beam profile, the ensuing legal consequences would extend far beyond an individual insurance claim. If forensic collision investigators identify this factory-coded regional logic inversion as the proximate cause of a fatal accident—and discovery logs reveal that Škoda UK was formally notified of this platform defect but chose to treat it as an unverified dealer-level anomaly—Volkswagen Group UK would face a major Group Litigation Order (class-action lawsuit). The financial and reputational cost of defending a multi-party product liability lawsuit for selling vehicles inherently unsuited for UK highway geometry—combined with the inevitable Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) mandated safety recall—renders a proactive engineering review at this stage the only responsible commercial and ethical course of action. I trust this will be appended to the engineering briefing files currently under review by your office ahead of our next update. Kind regards, Now I'm waiting....
  22. Dear Catherine Moore, Further to my previous email, I am submitting this technical addendum to clarify the precise mechanical and environmental failure loop that occurs on UK highways. This must be attached to the engineering brief ahead of the data logging session at Faintree Shrewsbury. The Barrier Obscuration Failure Loop: The core danger on a UK dual carriageway or motorway is that the physical central reservation barrier (whether concrete stepped barrier or steel Armco) physically sits at a height that obstructs the low-slung headlights of oncoming traffic from the perspective of the Škoda’s rearview-mirror-mounted A5 camera. Under normal, correct Right-Hand Drive (RHD) programming, the car should naturally bias its light safely down the left curb. However, because the software logic error flips the system into a Continental European Left-Hand Drive (LHD) profile, the headlights intentionally push a high, intense light field across to the right side of the highway. Because the central barrier blocks the oncoming vehicle's headlights from reaching the A5 camera lens, the Matrix processor assumes the oncoming fast lane is entirely empty. The system fails to shroud the pixel segments, causing a severe, delayed reaction. The oncoming driver is subjected to full, unshielded high-beam glare directly into their cabin before the camera can finally register them over the barrier. This creates a high-risk scenario where an oncoming motorist is instantaneously blinded at high speed, significantly elevating the risk of a catastrophic, multi-vehicle collision. Please ensure this operational failure loop is specifically noted by the product safety team alongside the module byte architectures previously provided. Kind regards, Could I explain it better?
  23. 2016 09 factory date I usually replace factory “a” part number headlights into a “b” part number ones. My original headlights “a” part number ndings. The eyelashes coding is okay but my high beam is not working I don't want automatic lights, just the Eyelashes. Is there a solution for this? I transferred all the modules from the old lamp. Sry my bad english
  24. Hi Bernie and welcome, car looking nice and clean!
  25. I had a TV tuner is an Audi A4 back when but only ever used it when stationary in rush hour traffic on the M3, so I can't say I've missed not having a TV tuner in my last 5 cars.

Thanks @Evolution13 , indeed, I had found that exact document. (And I agree, I don't "trust" AI; but I do somewhat more often these days use it to find sources, then I go read the sources to see if what the AI thought it understood from the sources was accurate. Sometimes yes, sometimes not so much ...)
  31. I'm pretty certain you can't save those settings... From memory the EU mandated they 'reset' each time. The car is switched off and on.
  32. No, an additional heating element to work up the engine prior to starting.
  33. Yeah, I like that about the new Superb myself. Not often my infotainment has played up thankfully (touch wood) but it's still a faff on having your climate controls buried in there. Always gets me how they changed the law in the UK to ban using hand held devices whilst driving, rightfully so, but simultaneously made all of the controls for your vehicle part of your touchscreen infotainment system! Crazy

From memory the bio fuel can degrade certain seals etc. pus tends to clean sludge from tank and clog filters. Same as running on veg oil. I doubt one tank would cause any harm. Have had a few cars with no bio-fuel on fuel cap which I think means bio-diesel stronger than B7 but one tank of B10 shouldnt cause any lasting harm. Alasdair

Interesting perspective 😅. (Apologies for my delay in replying. After resolving the B10 problem, I finished my drive to a horse farm in the French Ariège Pyrenees where I volunteered for a week, and did a 2-day excursion in the mountains on the inestimable Mérens horses (which, like Ford's Model T, come in any color you want, as long as it's black!). I called roadside service, which came within an hour. (Spanish plate, Spanish auto club membership; while they were efficient at getting a French service truck to me, they didn't seem to bother using good translation to properly express the concern, and the very nice French guy who showed up thought that I'd put petrol into my diesel car, until I showed him the more nuanced concern). He said that, despite Skoda's officially not having put their B7 diesel cars on the "certified okay with B10 diesel" list, that the one-time 2/3 of a tank fill-up with B10 wouldn't hurt my car - just to maybe run a tank of "premium" diesel, or add a container of diesel fuel injection/ system cleaner the next time I fill up. Putting my "engineer" (I'm obviously not an automotive engineer, but I'm an engineer by training) hat on, from what little I could find about why B10 might not be good for some B7 diesel cars, I'm guessing too that during these 30°C+ days and with most of my driving being NOT local tooling around, there's also less chance of the B10 fouling anything at the moment, whereas during cold weather with short drives I guess it might be more of an issue. (What I read suggested that B10 diesel, if the fuel system isn't specifically designed to expect it, could build up waxy deposits that a B7-only system wouldn't handle by default). Anyway, in the 350km I've driven since then, no obvious problems. I'll top up with a premium diesel this afternoon after another 120km on my way BACK to France where I WON'T touch anything labeled "B10" again.....
  36. Knobs on the A/C control like the Superb? Hope so.
  37. Thanks. It was that sort of price and being on a pension only that led me down the second hand route. I couldn’t justify the cost if it wasn’t a faulty lock causing the problem. The part numbers are identical right down to the suffix so it should be compatible in regard to the child lock function. Since posting, I have discovered a test procedure for checking the lock out of the car, so I’ll give that a go on the original. It’s an A.I script so could be wrong, but I have nothing to lose by trying.
  38. Good Evening SkodaHeads, Colin, from London. Owned a Skoda for like 4 days. Mostly a bike person. Been a long time since I joined a forum like this..

While you don’t technically “need” to get the TCU done along with the ECU, it makes sense to do so. This is from both a standpoint of completing the package, so to speak, in addition to increasing the clamping force of the clutch pack to cope with the increased torque. A custom tune is best for the engine - Ecotune, R-Tech, QST, Unicorn are some good examples. As for the gearbox, you’ll want to get a TVS map put on there - simple as. Getting the ECU mapped and not the TCU is sort of like going to the gym and only working your upper body. Sure, it’ll look good and be a change, but it’ll be unbalanced - you want to do the lower body to really get the most out of it.
  40. Cars for Nordic markets are usually equipped with ceramic heating elements, helps to warm up the engine very quickly.
  41. Just for extra clarity, the solid-state power controller for the fan is the part ringed in this photo, from an eBay listing of the part number quoted by the OP. Ebay listing: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/406703562083
  42. @eddie2 The Climatronic in our 2007 Octavia II 4x4 didn't have a separate resistor pack like our Fabia did - as @Breezy_Pete has said it was solid state powered. I know as I removed it to fix it after it seized like yours. I'd therefore expect yours to be too and the information you have been given about a resistor pack being present and faulty to be false. As I mentioned - get under the passenger side of the dashboard and take a look at removing it and freeing the bearing up - it's one connector, a couple of screws and a bayonet type fitment. The bronze bearing can be accessed to oil it and free it up by removing the large rubber 'cover' on its base.
  43. Data 260701.pdf The above pdf is the result of loading the data file received into Excel and linking in the Data Dictionary information. This is a Nerds paradise! That owners can get the data from the portal without using the My Skoda App, is interesting - the data dictionary contained at least 10 times as many data items as I received, there are a lot of data items related to EV and Hybrids in terms of usage (consumption, distance time etc).

It is 4.5 years old with 110K miles. Just haven't been using heater or AC over last few months as mild weather do got by with open windows. When using, either heating or cooling, I do use AC.
