  1. They are sided in that the one with crescent cut out go behind the disc and the one without goes in front of the disc.
  2. If you find that you need to do a lot of charging not at home then it may be worth knowing about Tesla's charging network. Many of their "supercharger" locations are open to all. Tesla cars pay a reduced rate per kWhr. Most locations are open to all and if you dont drive a Tesla you can buy a "subscription" to get the cheaper rate that Tesla cars pay..... From Duckduckgo ....
  3. Thanks for your very comprehensive reply Arianne. I use exactly the format and folder structure you describe above on a Samsung 256GB usb-c stick. Also tried with other makes of sticks and a 1TB external ssd. Well that was my last shot at fixing my media playback woes. I’m in the process of ordering the Honda Civic eHEV in Advanced trim. I love it’s driving characteristics, fuel economy and ergonomic control layout. It comes with an 8 year guarantee too. Not as luxurious as the Superb but I can live with that, I came back from my test drive with a huge smile on my face!
  4. Yeah, I tend to trust him as I got several recomendations for him. The car is 2015 and it has done 96k approx. In recent years since begin of Covid it has seen a very little use and it resides permanently in Bulgaria now. We agreed he should try and replace the faulty injector with a second hand one, to get the car running again and then we will consider full change over when we get the chance to test all all 4.
  5. It'll be the bigger one so south of £300. Ring up and ask 2 or 3 dealers.
  6. I really have no opinion on packages sold locally, as they certainly differ at the hands of the importers... Even I skipped on the heat pump (Norwegian, close to Oslo so its somewhat coastal climate). It is my understanding after speaking to a local VAG quality claims-resource there have been some issues with the HPs in the past, but it seems to have improved quite a lot. But I got the input from a local owner, it really was of no big issue for daily driving, as one just preheats before departure as per quote above. But sure, a SCOP (feed vs output) of heating the car wit heat pump is surely better, by all means. I just wanted to go a bit basic with our spec to replace a Roomster. Then again, I tend to cherish the time with our Skodas, keeping them for too long anyhow... Chinese offerings seems to be quite cheaper, but I chose what I will enjoy over time and ease of ownership. Opted for the new 60 (new more efficient motor, and new LFP battery). We do keep our Octavia 3 though for now, as it has a significantly better boot capacity. The Golf/Octavia/Passat platform has become a rather good one, despite its age. Best of luck with your decision making !
  7. @Rifleman . I have had almost a year of waiting for delivery of our Superb (she is called Rosie) and almost another year of research. As a result, my AI Assistant is well versed in all matters 'Skoda Superb' and has been trained, through memory updates, to be objective, thorough, evidence based, disagree, challenge and always tell me what I need to know, not what I want to hear. It sometimes slips up but has been getting progressively better over time. Here is the answer to your questions about the Superb's sound system which I shared with it earlier. I hope it helps. As an aside, I suspect Skoda UK Customer Services are little different from any of the other manufacturers and I also doubt the dealership wouldhave any deep knowledge unless you stumbled across an atypical employee. Yes — and the answer is considerably less restrictive than the older Škoda systems made us fear. For Rosie’s current-generation infotainment, I would set the PNY up as follows: USB filesystem: exFAT. That is the safest choice. Škoda itself specifies exFAT for modern USB media used with its current infotainment systems, including 64 GB+ media. updateportal.skoda-auto.com Partitioning: one normal partition. There is no advantage in dividing the stick into several partitions. Audio format: FLAC is natively supported by this generation of VW Group infotainment; there is no need to convert your lossless library to MP3. Current-generation VW infotainment documentation also lists FLAC among the supported audio types. My Car User Manual Folder structure: nothing exotic is required. I would use the very conventional Artist → Album → 01 Track.flac → 02 Track.flac etc. The infotainment can browse the actual USB folder structure as well as building its own artist/album/track database from the embedded metadata. Volkswagen Ireland +1 Stick capacity: your 256 GB PNY is absolutely fine. Importantly, actual Mk4 Superb owners have successfully used 256 GB and 1 TB drives, with one owner specifically reporting both a 1 TB and 256 GB drive being read without difficulty. Briskoda Library size: I cannot find a Škoda-published hard maximum for the Mk4 Superb such as “x folders/xx,xxx tracks”, so I would not quote an invented limit on Briskoda. The empirical evidence that 1 TB devices work is far more useful. Very large libraries can simply take longer to index initially; that has been reported on contemporary VW Group systems with 10,000+ tracks. Briskoda There is one important distinction here. The 256 GB size of the stick and the size of an individual FLAC file are not problems when using exFAT. FAT32 has the old 4 GB-per-file restriction; exFAT removes that. No normal music FLAC would approach 4 GB anyway. What I would actually do with ours I would format the PNY exFAT, probably with Windows' default allocation-unit setting, give it a sensible volume name such as ROSIE MUSIC, and copy the library across in this form: ROSIE MUSIC │ ├── ABBA │ ├── Arrival │ │ ├── 01 When I Kissed The Teacher.flac │ │ ├── 02 Dancing Queen.flac │ │ └── ... │ └── The Visitors │ ├── Beethoven │ ├── Symphony No. 5 │ └── Symphony No. 9 │ ├── Fleetwood Mac │ └── Rumours │ └── ... More important than the folder names is having good FLAC tags — Artist, Album, Track Number, Title, Disc Number and preferably embedded album artwork. The infotainment's media database will then give you a much more civilised Artist/Album browsing experience rather than making you work through folders. And this confirms something from our old discussion: the PNY 256 GB stick was a sound purchase. In fact, it is rather nicely judged — enough capacity for a very substantial lossless collection without going to the rather absurd 1 TB extreme that the system apparently will nevertheless tolerate. Briskoda If you show me the exact wording of the owner's question in the attachment, I can also tell you whether there is any wrinkle in it that I haven't covered above Best wishes, David.
  8. Hello, greetings from the Czech Republic. I managed to buy a 65/100 originally from GB. Octavia is in good hands, it will gradually improve. I use google translate, so hopefully everything is understandable.
  9. Hello, I’m Steve and I’m going to be collecting my new Octavia in 3 weeks. I’ve never personally owned a Škoda but, as the family’s official petrolhead, I’ve been instrumental in the purchase of several Skodas, by various friends and family members. I helped my late father buy his first ever brand new car, back in 2006. A Fabia. I helped my son source two MK3 Octavias. (First one was unfortunately rear ended!) Advised a friend to look for an Octavia, when replacing an aging Toyota Avensis. They’ve had their MK2 for approximately 8+years now and it has, this week, been relegated to 2nd car duties as they didn’t want to part with it but wanted a newer car. I, personally, have lusted after an Octavia vRS for the best part of 15yrs. Somehow, when it came to buying a replacement car, I always ended up buying something different. There was always some other consideration, whether practical, financial or logistical, which meant a different purchase was made! As I retired a year ago, we have decided to change our current car for a brand new “something that I promise to keep for longer than my usual 3-5yrs” (I’ve had to sign something to that effect!). Having thoroughly researched possibilities, I kept coming back to the fact that I’ve always liked/wanted an Octavia vRS! Upshot is, I found a lovely 8 mth old example, 2hrs drive away and organised a test drive last week. It was lovely to drive and a good deal was struck. However , they had a lovely, discounted, new example in the showroom. I casually enquired about it and we pick it up on Sept 1st! It’s a tad more than I wanted to spend but the discount and Škoda pcp deposit definitely brought the two closer together and being as this car must be a keeper, I thought we’d make the stretch! Can’t wait! Look forward to learning lots of stuff from you guys on here!
  10. Hi SteveF, temptation beyon endurance as they say. Great car!
  11. Left tail gate strut failed - lots of beeping not much moving. Popped it off to find the wires have broken. Quick + dirty repair to make it work again whilst I order replacements.
  12. This isn't about whether owners think a brake fluid change is necessary at 2 years or not, just be careful with Richmond when getting a quote. I contacted them in June to ask the price of the brake fluid change and was advised it was £100.?? Inc Vat, I thought this was a bit expensive and the operator seemed a bit unsure so I rang back the next week to check that price and was told it was £69.19 Inc vat, which was roughly in line with the prices I had read online so I booked my karoq in for service on that basis. Today I rang to check my booking and was told the brake fluid change was £100.?? I'm not really sure which advisor was right, but will now be looking for an independent to do it....
  13. That's another option. Maud looks excellent, but Dundee is probably easier for public transport if I need to leave the car with them for any length of time.
  14. That's not a million miles away 😀 I'll check them out. Thanks, @Evolution13
  15. I bought a new Kodiaq SE L 7 seater in February this year. Like you, I wanted a space saver wheel. I found the 2 best sources were Skoda Parts Direct and Caffyns Parts. Decided to go with Caffyns. Bought the space saver wheel and the foam kit on their ebay site because delivery was only £12 on eBay but more than £30 if I bought direct from Caffyns!! Fitted everything myself although some parts are a bit tricky. Guess you won’t have that problem with a factory order.

Does this help? - looks like you might only need the chromed hinge corner piece: Appreciate it's a different style, but if your key blade isn't broken it looks relatively straightforward to me. Gaz
  17. I completely agree, we have experienced the extremely dangerous braking problem twice and now always turn it off. I raised several complaints with Skoda UK, including the above; the rest relate to the customer service at the branch I purchased from, and I have had generic responses to all. I imagine that a neutral answer avoids any potential liability, but it also avoids actually addressing the problem. At some point, some road users are going to get seriously injured (or worse) under an emergency braking scenario, and I very much doubt my "Customer Relations Manager" will be able to use generics at a formal inquest. Luckily, my local branch, Trancity, is very customer-focused and have just serviced the car and resolved a few problems. But they did say the braking scenarios are as expected from the position of the sensors. Like you, I would have hoped Skoda UK would be collating customer reports for researching and eventually releasing a software improvement or update? I would look closely at the reliability of the Honda; not so sure it is what it was in the pre-electric days? Another contender for me has been Toyota, 'dull but dependable", if they release a plug-in Corolla estate, I personally would seriously consider that instead. They also have the extended warranty periods for the car, 10 years and 15 on the hybrid system (if you service it annually with Toyota). 18. In Greece, we have space saver wheel as standard, in every trim or version-including seven seaters-except the iv version
  19. I bought a Skoda roof rack for my Enyaq Coupe recently and couldn't attach the supplied rubber strips but found advise from an old Fabia post. I've attached photos to show you how. It is easy when you know how but your fingers know they've done a workout when completed! It's a great roof rack very quick and easy to put on/remove from the car. Start spotting in one edge first then start pushing from the opposite side NOT from above. The images should make sense. Just keep working your way up a few inches at a time:-) Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Image 4
  20. If you intend to use Skoda main dealer 2 services have plans. Monthly payments with zero interest . They also have an all in plan form year three https://customer.vwfs.co.uk/service-plans/skoda.html?traci_c=UK|SI|GA|PM|SKODA:DM-P:&traci_s=SI:SKODA:SEA:Google:PerformanceMaxAd:2024-12:&traci_ee=22041507480::::::&traci_t=:::&s_kwcid=AL!10901!3!!!!x!!&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22051408243&gclid=CjwKCAjwyuDTBhB-EiwANCQhLCkFGobbhgE7ZfHM_hd8s4Q2bcibzWXgUH6bN2ly46HTm2MZD08GDBoCDL8QAvD_BwE
  21. I popped to a classic car meet today and saw a couple of Ford Taunus's (Taunusi?) "Knudsens". We had them as the MkIII Cortina. Dad skipped the MkIII and went from a MkII to a MkIV but the neighbours had a MkIII in orange. Then I googled Taunus GXL and this video was the top hit. The very same car (the one with the Hamburg plates)
  22. Thanks solved, Halfords 2 mins away so just replaced them and light has gone. Appreciated.
  23. My local independent did mine on my previous Karoq. It was something like £35 if I remember correctly. Skoda dealers simply don't deserve our custom except for warranty work.
  24. That suggests it isn't a "glitch". Given the circumstances that you are "abroad", i think you should probably listen to the mechanic with the diagnostic tool. Your car must be at least ten year old so if this is the first injector that's not bad. What mileage has it done
  25. Just a coincidence. I get similar mpg on supermarket fuel.

Hi i just bought a Skoda Karoq 2019, I am in Aberdeenshire and wanted to say Hi and introduce myself Norman, I am 65 and like cars and looking for help so i think I am in the right place.
  27. Hello everyone. Firstly I apologise if I have posted this in the wrong section 😞. My name is Owen I'm 53 and from North west England. I've just become the proud owner of a 2012 Octavia Vrs Dsg petrol . It's done 120k but it's been fastidiously maintained by it's previous keepers . I was given a huge ream of paperwork with the car . It's a hatch and it's blue . Not sure of the exact manufacturer colour name yet . The car is completely standard but I'm planning on a remap for both engine and box . I'm not going too far with it (honest!) I'm looking at revo for the map as I'm told there are switchable maps available. I try to do my own work on my cars but ill health has been making this a struggle recently. As I said apologies if I've posted this incorrectly, perhaps a mod could assist. I look forward to chatting with people and solving those problems that communities like this are great at . Best wishes Owen
  28. Quick shot in the field, i did drag my sideskirts on the ground just a bit 😁
  29. Hello All, figured i'd make a post now i've rejoined the fold! Many moons ago i got seen off with possibly the worst Octavia MK1 to ever grace the roads of the UK, faults multiple and various (Including a mirror bodged into the warning lights, to allow the check engine light to be hidden!) which soured me on VAG stuff as a whole for the longest time. Fast forward 10 years, Missus finds a twofer - a Mk1 VW LT35 horsebox, and a Polo 6N2 for me to run round in. Huh, maybe VAG stuff is ok and i just got a bad one... fast forward a little more, and i'm now the proud owner of a 2012 Fabia MK2 Scout (105 Hp CAYC 1.6 Diesel, cause what could go wrong with that :) ) Special laptop based diagnostic tool is in the post, already fixing bits (blower resistor changed literally 5 mins ago) Apologies to all the Fabia owners here, but i'm definately gonna be picking your brains over the next couple of....well....i guess you're stuck with me now!
  30. Just sliding in here since i am now the owner of a Skoda Superb. Looking to share and gain knowledge regarding my car. Hopefully find the rare gems/guru’s and enthusiasts who know the ins and outs of this car. Decided to purchase this car since i drive a lot, haul a lot of stuff for my boat and also stow and transport my kitesurfing gear. Have a good day, Pete
  31. Hi. I'm finding that if I want a new RS it's £40k + any options which puts in well inside the luxury car threshold so instead of paying ~£200 annually for "road tax" it would be a whopping £625! Also I'm thinking that whilst the RS is a lovely car to own & drive, it's now gone over the 3 year barrier and so is going to start needing much more expensive maintenance & services. I also have leg & knee issues so it's a comfort issue too. I don't need a large car like the Octavia anymore as I have no family Ive not tried any EV, but there's no Skoda that will give me the HP & zip of an RS other than an EV, I've had a look at an Elroq and whilst I'm not a fan of the driver cockpit, but I can live with it.
  32. Yes I thought that initially, the first time I never mention service, just asked for the price of BFC, they quoted the £100, the second call I said I need to book 2nd service and the price was £69.19, then 3rd call to check my booking this week it went back up to £100.....who knows what they are playing at plucking figures from the sky comes to mind.
  33. @Bryfly Nearly always the case that a 'During a service price' of a Brake Fluid change is less (Price Fixed) lower than just getting a Brake Fluid change. Is it during a Service price that they gave it @ £100? You decide if you want to follow the @2 year Service schedule or not. You know where and when you drive and weather conditions etc. If you think the Brake Fluid has absorbed H20 or not. It changed from @ 2 years to @ 3, then a few years back to @ 2 Years as a nice little earner for Dealerships after the VW Emissions Scandal and stuff. Money for old rope.
  34. I tested it and indeed the car starts to change lanes by itself when i trigger the corresponding indicator. I love it on the highway. One just needs to be careful for the temp markings(east europe)
  35. Hi everyone, Shwmae (Hello) from Wales! I have a 2021 Fabia MK3 Facelift Colour Edition 1.0 TSI @140hp 260nm It's my first car and what an amazing vehicle it's been so far! See you on the roads!
  36. Hello everyone, my name is Winston and I live in Sydney, Australia. I recently took delivery of a 2024 Octavia RS wagon. I have been a happy Skoda owner for over 10 years. I also have a 2007 Roomster and a 2014 Yeti. Luv 'em to bits.
  37. Hello, my name is Fabio, I live in Belgium, and I just bought a 2023 Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI 110kW Sportline in graphite grey in July 2026. I'm happy to be able to learn more on this forum. Thank you.
  38. Honestly, I don’t even hate the Soundaktor - I just hate that it’s installed into a dashboard so cheap it rattles the whole thing! Aside from that, it’s a great drive. It’s faster than it should be, handles better than it should (for a 2.0 FWD saloon) and in general is a nice car to drive. Sure, it’s not as planted or as tight as a “hot hatch”, but it’s also nowhere near as uncomfortable or attention-seeking. Even as someone in their 20s, I love how understated and interesting the car is. You do see them on the road, but nowhere near as much as a hot Golf or A3. I actually have nothing bad to say about the driver aids in my 3.5. The ACC is amazing, I’ve had no issues with the braking assist or lane assist (beyond it seeing seams in temporary motorway works as white lines). The TSR was a nightmare, but I coded it out not long after I bought the car. That being said, I have had issues with the braking assist in both my parent’s cars and the Ibiza (2022). In particular, the SEAT likes to give lots of false warnings. The BMW lane assist is also a bit aggressive. I’ve driven lots of new cars and I can’t say the Skoda systems are anything but identical to SEAT, Cupra, Audi or VW. Indeed, I can’t say they’re any different to anything from France, BMW, Ford or Japan, either. I will say that I do believe the systems are perhaps toned down a little for performance models. I’ve had the least issues in an M340i and my vRS, but that may just be placebo. I’ve had no issues in my mate’s GTI, but that might be because it’s an 8v from 1985, and doesn’t even have power steering.
  39. @mdfabia1969 There was a popular (NON Quattro) Audi TT caliper and carrier upgrade for the MkI Fabia back in the day which used 312mm discs so I'd measure your disc diameter in the first instance. IIRC 310mm discs were also used.
  40. Quite possibly not original - I'd not expect to see an Audi logo on OEM Fabia calipers.
  41. I’m happy with it but I’m not an in car entertainment coniseur, it plays my music and other stuff I listen to without fault to my ears. I’m far from a musical heathen but l understand some people are very particular on the subject.
  42. Rivnut. I would’ve used one when my mk1 Octavia shed a hatch strut, except when it failed it stretched/ bent the metal around the mounting point. I just measured a stick to use as a prop until I traded in the car 🤣
  43. I've found this to be a particular problem on single track rural roads. If I meet someone and need to reverse smartly into a passing place, there's nearly always a blade of grass there that causes the brakes to slam on (if I haven't remembered to disable that 'feature'). The other driver waiting to pass must think I'm a total wally!
  44. Following in case of developments. (Hopefully none!)
