Stretching the thread a little here, but my worst bong was a week after taking delivery of a Polo. This was accompanied by the message "S6 Battery Critically Low". Pulled over & trawled the manual & internet for what S6 meant, without success. Car started OK so I decided to push on with the 75 mile journey home, fretting that the car would die at any moment, but it didn't. Next day the warning had gone. Then the penny finally dropped, it was warning about the battery on my Samsung S6 phone...
  2. That'll be my 2023 SEAT Ateca going in then. Sit down with a courtesy cuppa and a pastry for an hour and catch up on some reading and pay nothing and leave with some peace of mind it's sorted.
  3. Can't see why they'd say left hand drive if it wasn't specific to them.
  4. See Occyvrs's 2nd post on page 1, with info from internal VW comms:
  5. Unaware of this thread, in May 2025 I started a thread in the Karoq sub-forum. I have now resurrected that thread as I am again having issues with Send Route and so is another forum member.
  6. ^^^One less recall or service campaign that might concern those with VW Group vehicles with the steering wheel on the correct side. Just those with the wheel on the wrong side to see if their vehicle is part of the Global Recall.
  7. Left hand drives only are subject to the recall.
  8. This topic has now been merged with two other topics to keep it all in one place.
  9. Advances are apparently being made towards the new Super low carbon hub @ Orchard Bank Forfar with HGV EV charging and Hydrogen filling. This is according to Angus Council, and the cost is being quoted at £6 million and no longer just £4.6 million. It would be good if they could have the 4 rapids (50 kW) and 6 AC chargers all working and giving out there Max speed to vehicles plugging in with a low state of charge.
  10. Skoda models now recalled are Kodiaq, Karoq, Octavia and Superb built between November 2015 and August 2026. Article in German but browsers can translate it. Skoda recall due to steering system: These models are affected https://share.google/htIY26tHXtXYPQgKt
  11. Resurrecting this thread as I’ve found Send Route to car does not seem to be working again- even when I try when sitting in the car. I am going to raise it with customer services. For info I have version 8.17 of the App. Cynically I suspect an earlier fix from last year has got lost in the melee surrounding the constant updates issue in the summer.
  12. Thanks for this. Does indeed show when fuel consumption is in the centre display. Shame Skoda discontinued showing the icon along the top or bottom screen rows as in my previous karoqs.
  13. So, now it is resolved, it is time to tell the saga of my MIB2 to MIB2.5 upgrade. Its something I had ummed and ahhed about for some time, but a cheap scrfeen caught my eye on eBay. £150 was too good to pass up. So it was promptly ordered along with a fresh SD card. All files we're downloaded and prepared as per the github and @JR RS guide. I very nearly bought myself a new battery charge from Amazon but thought I would save a few pennies and I borrowed a battery charger from a neighbour. This I think was the major mistake of this story! One evening I set to work. All seemed to be going well. Progress was happening as it should and the new screen was swapped in. And then... Dammit. That looked catastrophic. But this screen is expected (without as much additional info I must note) and all you have to do is press skip. But the screen did not respond. The MIB unit fans were running flat out and it wouldnt turn off, reboot or anything. Hard reset pulling the fuse just brought me straight back to here. In the time I was pulling about scratching my head thinking of what to do next, all the lights went out.... The borrowed battery charger from the neighbour just wasn't up to the job of keeping the battery topped up. (The only root cause for the error I can fathom is that at some point during the flashing, the voltage reduced to a point that power dropped from the MIB at a crucial moment.) My inital thought process was that the screen was faulty as the digitizers can be fickle. So this screen was returned and the next cheapest screen sourced. A few days later when it arrived I plugged it in and....nothing, straight back to this screen. So I then reached out to the Guru that is @pab567. And I must say the service and support I received was second to none. He guided me through connecting via UART so that he could remote access to me to try to reflash the unit. No joy. The EEPROM just couldnt be communicated with. So the unit was packaged up and sent to Poland for some open heart surgery. Unfortunately this was not successful, having successfully recovered the RCC, the MMX recovery failed. And direct programming of the EEPROM also failed and it was deemed uneconomical to repair. ☹️ PAB sourced a second hand native MIB2.5 skoda unit locally to him for signicantly cheaper than I could source in the UK, and for a very reasonable fee prepared it to be plug and play for my car. This was delivered today and we are now back up and running. The final piece was to install the alternative trim panel to close in the gap above the screen. This was sourced from eBay. I popped a bit of the current trim off to find the colour code and managed to find a match for a pretty reasonable price. Note the part numbers are 3V2858418E for no ambient lighting and 3V2858418F with ambient lighting. THe following 3 digits are the colour code, in my case NF8. So the moral of the story is, don't cheap out on not buying a battery charger, check the state of charge before starting, and dont try to do software flashes in the dark!
  14. There is a moral to this story too. Few years back four new tyres fitted on the Monday - Tuesday morning start the car to go to work, low tyre pressure warning. Ignored as I “knew” better four new tyres all at correct pressure when I reversed into the garage the previous night. 200 yds down the road steering’s very heavy, stopped got out OSF nearly flat. Faulty valve. I no longer ignore warnings!
  15. Hi, earlier this year I bought an Octavia VRS Mk2 estate. I was looking for a practical car with a towbar to take motorbikes to events as I didn't want a van. After keeping a very open mind, I had narrowed down the search to the VRS or a Superb 3.6. As the VRS was local, had a towbar, was nice enough condition I decided to buy the first car I viewed. I'm very happy with this car and will do a thread on what I have done and plans for the future.
  16. ^^^ as above - but on or as near to a subframe mounting-point as possible.
  17. The rubber stoppers at the end of the wiper(either OEM or Bosch) weren't glued. Turn the wiper upside down, so the rubber part faces you, then using a small screwdriver carefully lift the metal clips holding the plastic stopper. In the same time try to wiggle and pull the plastic stopper. Don't use much force when lifting the metal clips with the screwdriver, but you may need when pulling the stopper because it's usually stuck from the accumulated dirt. Both Bosch and OEM had different type of plastic stoppers, but when you wiggle the specific stopper a little and push and pull gently, you'll see what blocks the stopper to be removed and so which parts need to be lifted.
  18. Yes. All the parts listed were bought from TPS, so they are all genuine parts and part numbers. ''Parts list a follows. Note some new part numbers and some unused parts were delivered. 1S0810971C Inner wheel arch liner left. Now modified note the last letter of the part number is C 1S0810972C Inner wheel arch liner right. Now modified note the last letter of the part number is C 1S08109879B9 Adaptor lower rear left. The adaptors don't appear on the TPS diagram but is listed. 1S08109889B9 Adaptor lower rear right. The adaptors don't appear on the TPS diagram but is listed. N90974701 Screw insert for inner arch chassis holes X 6. ( 3 each side ) N10321301 Screw insert for outer arch chassis holes X 4. ( 2 each side ) N909747701 T25 Torx screw x 18. Only needed 14 ( 7 each side ) as you can reuse 4 from the removed front adaptors.'' All of these parts were used except the last line where I reused 4 screws. HTH. Thanks. AG Falco
  19. The 2 things I always disable as soon as I start the car. I can do it now without taking my eyes off the road.
  20. I would absolutely lift it on the subframe. Having just spent nearly £1,000 fixing damage to the sill lift points - don't use them. The vehicle is designed to be lifted on a proper lift. You'll be fine using the jacking points occasionally, with the correct pad, but I wouldn't make a habit out of it.
  21. 1980 Jeep Wagoneer spotted at the supermarket today. It's BIG even by todays standards.
  22. Not sure but I sprayed my octavia ones black as they were worse than yours. Didnt look that bad or noticeable. Alasdair
  23. I find these things so annoying. Yesterday I received 2 bongs telling me the lane assist and speed warning not available, so what and who cares?
  24. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/541291-google-maps-etc-in-virtual-cockpit/?do=getLastComment Already discussed here. It's still in early testing stage. The have proof of concept, but still a few issues. Definitely not a SD card update option yet. It's free and open source, but some are charging 200 - 300 to do it.
  25. It works for VW as well. I had one situation on VW Polo 2020-2021 which had MEN2, but it used different software and this patch could not work on it. 2020 and older should work straight.
  26. Our new Fabia Design Auto is being delivered shortly. We have previously owned a Citygo and Yeti so know Skodas fairly well but wondering if there is anything we should be aware of or any useful hints and tips. Thank you. The new car will be blue so I guess my profile name is now rather misleading
  27. There seems to be a couple of other threads about this steering bolt issue, not surprisingly as a range of models are affected: I've just put my VIN (2018 Golf 7.5 GTI) into the main VW website as 17016R may affect me, and I just get red text saying it's not a recognised VIN: So I phoned my local VW main dealer, who checked and advised there was nothing outstanding at the moment, but if that changed I would be contacted. Not completely inspired with confidence. Gaz
  28. Probably the sensor located on the wishbone. I had same issue and replaced via my mechanic and all ok after..
  29. So, after doing some research, hopefully I've fixed the issue. VW/Skoda do a new arm and e-clips for around (£65 ish) from various eBay suppliers. It doesn't look like the clips are available separately. So I had a go at a DIY fix. I got some replacement e-clips from a fixings supplier to suit a 10mm OD rod (£5 for 10 Inc postage) and some nickel based anti seize (1300°C) £8 including postage First I removed the heat shield from the top of the turbo - 1 no. 10mm hex bolt and 3 M10 xzn/splined bolts to give me a bit of room. The OEM e-clip broke into 3 bits and was corroded onto the bar & pivot. I had to lever the actuator arm off with a combination of ever increasing flat head screwdrivers and hammering a old ½" extension bar against it and it eventually came off. (I did begin to panic halfway, when it was stuck, completely jamming the wastegate) I then cleaned both pivot and bar with 240g wet and dry, then wiped them with brake cleaner. Then applied the nickel anti seize to bar and pivot. I stuck a new e-clip to the pivot with the same anti seize to prevent it falling off and pushed it home with a screwdriver. Then wiped off the excess anti seize. Before After Sorry about the quality of the pictures, not much space to work in. Hopefully this'll help anyone else with the same issue.
  30. Dave's son doing the talking rather than the filming etc. We know the Gridserve electric forecourts are fab and nice to see one a bit further north, Markham Vale J29A M1, so not just in SE of England. The Manchester Oasis site sounds very good too. Be good to see the new big charging site on the A303 too, Chicklade nr Stonehenge.... https://fleetworld.co.uk/instavolt-announces-next-ultra-rapid-charging-hub-on-a303-wiltshire/
