  1. Is that corrosion on the bottom corner of the cover plate nearest steering-arm ?
  2. That is only to keep the MOT anniversary - A new MOT can be done ANY time, reluctance by the dealer to do this is immediate cause for suspicion.
  3. Good morning, how about a strip of double-sided tape? - Gorilla glue would work, but is likely to be very difficult to remove in future.
  4. Hi Armis, welcome to the forum. I'd guess that the extra -ve camber won't cause too much extra wear on the inside edges of your fronts - I note that the standard spec. -ve camber on the rear is the same as you now have on your fronts. It probably will improve turn-in on tarmac - but it might make it a little 'twitchier' on gravel.
  5. Excerpt from VAG Dealer employee application - Q1, On the board displayed, place each peg into its corresponding hole. A 1, What board? This vehicle is not fitted with that feature - and even if it is, it is a 'feature' that the round peg always fits into the square hole. Note to examiner, give extra point if candidate uses hammer to make pegs fit.
  6. Hi, just checked - the retread winters I have got fitted at present are King Meiler Winter Tact (WT80+ pattern, I think) They handled a 1200 mile slushy, muddy road-trip in January pretty well - but they are really not as sure-footed as the Alpins, especially on turn in or off the line. It will be interesting to see how high the wear-rate on the K-Ms is on warmer roads. It was the alloys they were fitted to that I was after, I've got my eyes on a new, highly rated, set of winters.
  7. I was using Alpin 5s on steels until last winter, when I changed to a set of 'Dunlop winter' pattern retreads on alloys that I picked up from a Forum member - not great grip - and quite a bit noisier than the Alpins, so I'm going to get the wear out of them over this year, then fit new winters on the rims. Re. swapping, I was moving the Alpins front to rear to even-up the wear - should not be any problem providing pattern is symetrical, wear is reasonably even across tread and rotational direction remains the same.
  8. I agree, a little T&C before putting them away for 6 months certainly worth while - good opportunity to check inside sidewalls. Clearing out the treads and sipes also can allow any nails/screws to be spotted before they get all the way through.
  9. Hi Westie, just be aware that the service life of the coolant MAY be a little shorter without the silica bag fitted.
  10. My Octavia is on annual servicing due to low mileage each year - 6+ years, 24000 miles, still on original pads and discs.
  11. Welcome oh one from the Black Swan State. Wow you sound like someone who really knows their way around vehicle electrics.
  12. Hi Quantum, did they snatch it from you at your full asking price?

Hi AJ, a warm welcome to the forum.
  14. Assuming the MK1 remote fob has one, have you checked the battery in it?
  15. Hands up - confusing DSG with Haldex!
  16. I'd guess that a slight period extension (but not the <> three years the dealer appears to be suggesting for the DSG oil change) in getting service items checked-off will not hurt - but taking the **** on the plugs. I wonder if the pollen filter has ever been changed during past services ?
  17. A lot simpler to just input vehicle, wheel and tyre details into 'Will they fit.com' (other websites are available) - you will get clearace details from that.
  18. Good morning Graphic, I'd take a guess that your cynicism is warranted - iirc plugs are good for >> 22K miles. I'd be more concerned to get the DSG serviced properly - including cleaning the filter strainer that a lot of dealers claim is 'not necessary'! +1 for your past poor experiance with dealers, although I also had an issue with my last service at a 'Specialist'
  19. Good morning Automass, a full charge, then load test on battery will confirm condition of battery in question - but this requires access to charger and test instrument. Replacement battery will require 'coding' to vehicle, where, at least, the battery serial number needs to be changed to tell the BCM that a new battery has been fitted. If the type of battery (EFB/AGM) is also being changed, this must be coded too. Ask workshop supplying new battery if they are equipped to do this coding, otherwise you will need to contact someone who can. I believe there is a register of forum members who have the necessary equipment for coding.
  20. Hi Night Shadow, recommended pressures are on the tyre pressure placard inside the fuel flap.
  21. Traction Control System, it may be called something else on the Kamiq. Not sure why not triggered for objects crossing the front - but that's what the manual states.
  22. I checked for the Octavia - front assist is active provided - System not disabled; TCS is enabled; Vehicle is travelling forward at more than approx. 5KPH; No more than one brake light has failed. It will not trigger for object crossing front of vehicle. Unlikely that Kamiq is significantly different.
  23. IIrc, front assist is active only above a certain speed. I will try a search on what that minimum speed is.
  24. Good morning Storky, welcome to the forum. Assuming you mean you want to add a 6th seat in the rear that is not included in original configuration, I'd think there will be a lot of legal requirements you would be required to comply with.
