  • I've found this in the instruction book, looks like possibly for future reference the "A" needs to be removed from the part number for people with MFSW?    The instructions are a bit vague, but coul

If you can post up the details that would be great and just to confirm, we are talking about the latest Octavia 3?

Yes Octavia 3 the vehicle in question came from the factory as a miss build when carrying out pdi we fitted a cruise control switch and coded worked first time skoda sent us a step by step guide on how to code cruise on a new Octavia... This was 3 weeks ago

I have contacted 3 local(ish) dealers about getting this fitted to my TSI Vrs today. 2 replied and said it can be done. (one quoted £325 and the other £375). 1 replied and said it cant be done as my car has an on board computer?

So will be booking it in in the very near future to get it done.

Just out of curiosity can anyone who has it let me know if the cruise control has a brake function? (So if your going downhill it will brake to keep you at the desired speed?)

Many thanks

Just make sure they use the correct stalks like posted in this thread.

No the normal CC doesn't but ive never found it running away if the correct gear is selected for the slope.

Thanks for that Neily. I have DSG and find that even when selecting a gear manually there isn't much engine breaking when going downhill compared to manual cars I've had, hence the question re braking. Not to worry though that doesn't really matter.

In terms of the correct stalk does anyone know the exact part no? I read earlier that someone 'thought' it was the part no without the A. Can anyone confirm the correct part no so I can check what the dealer is going to order?

Thanks

I have dsg and find that the engine braking using the gears is more than adequate, you do need to drop down an extra cog though if you expect the dsg to do the braking.

I too am waiting for my dealer to tell me this mod has been sanctioned by SUK, so any further info on the "legality" of this retrofit that will enable me to prod them into action would be very much appreciated.

Was just poking around on RossTech and found this

(via the MQB link from here )

Seems to suggest you can activate cruise on a multifunction steering wheel via VCDS, without having the stalk fitted (or activate on a retrofitted stalk without having to get the coding done via the dealer).

Anyone got VCDS, a non-cruise VRS, and able to have a go?

Surely you have to have the correct controls on the MFSW... which the Octavia doesn't?  If you swapped the steering wheel out for one from a Mk7 Golf, then you'd be OK (maybe).

I'd be willing to try it if someone in Bournemouth has VCDS, I have the MFSW in a VRS which is the same as my mates mk7 GTD in terms of buttons,..

The GTD has ACC so it won't be the same at all.

I wondered if it might be catered for via the menu, like driving data, vehicle status, phone etc

My bad, you guys are right, just checked my mates mk7 gtd and it is very different :-(

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about with the "wrong" part number really. I don't even notice the extra switch is there on the R/H side. Its been working absolutely fine for the last five months since I had it fitted.

If something is worth doing it's worth doing right.

The wrong switch would bug me no end!

Me too, never mind paying a main dealer nearly £400 and them doing it wrong.

I definitely see your point, and agree. But at the same time it'd probably annoy me if there was one sized stalk on one side, and a smaller one on the other. They feel different to touch, as the non switched one is smaller and rounder. At least in this case both sides feel the same when you use them.

Eh? Mine are both the same size......

Hmm, maybe they are then, it's been a while. But on the non cruise stick, I remember the left one felt different.

This file has cruise part numbers for most Skodas.

I've got a 14 plate Octavia Vrs without cruise so will be looking to get it fitted at my local dealer. It confirms the info about the A on the part number.

Cheers
