Volkswagen is doing themselves no favours.

 

So today is them getting the personnel all organised to get the strategy arranged to save Volswagen's losses.

Like an army, hurry up hurry up and wait.

 

Alastair Campbell Labour Spin Doctor explained the other night how in a crisis you need to quickly get to the worst place then recover from there.

That is not what has happened this week with Volkswagen, they are dragging it out with the German Governments assistance, because Governments are covering their ar535 as well.

 

Volkswagen are busy working out how to save Volkswagen and not telling the story yet,

what exactly they did, where they did it and what having done it the meaning of it all.

Yup, where's this list we were promised?

I hardly think Alistair Campbell is a credible source of valid accurate information, is he?

I have a VW 2ltr diesel engine under my bonnet (ooh errr, is that what we call it now? ). I request that my name gets put on the naughty wall for being responsible for thousands of deaths in this country.

 

I also frequently travel by train, powered by diesel engines that wouldnt even comply with tier 1 emission standards, they are that old. But thats OK, because they arent VW engines

Reading that it sounds like it is in the software but only activated in markets that needed it i.e California...

Just like Benetton's option 13. Yes we had illegal launch control but Mr Schumacher never switched it on, no siree.

Suppose it is possible to be in the software and not activated, lets face it you can have 10 identical Skoda's all the same engines etc but with different options activated... like you do with VCDS now..

Lets hope this is good news for the UK.... If it is there and not used there should be no issues ... So yes, 5 million, 11 million whatever as long as it is deactivated in markets that do not need it can only be a little bit of good news

And from all i can be arsed reading of this thread its been 650 odd posts of pure speculation and how vw are trully the son of satan and should be burnes at stake... but they cant be as the no emmissions would be too high and it would take to much fuel to keep the flames going long enough to fully incinerate the ash..

I have never seen anything like the immediacy to jump the mesia scaremongering band wagon as this thread led, tbh, by the same handful of vw bashers that turn so many threads into pure anti vw/skoda rantathons..

Toyota had how many thousand people driving around with airbags ready to explode and kill everyone noine seemed to notice other than make jokes. Yes different scenario not a deliberate act, but how does anyone know they arent doing the same thing as vw by a different method... that just hasnt been found yet. Who are we all going to villify when it turns out that all of them are it inc the marques which are much loved (despite for eg the widespread premature rusting issues with some of them...) by those so fast to beat vw with a stick...

Theres a general sense and feel of rage and anger around brisky lately... getting a bit f'ing tiresome tbh..

The sat nav calls you a Shelia for washing the car it & directs you to the nearest off-license for some tinni's...............

Oh and by the way for the record, I am a loyal VAG bloke been dealing with them for 30 odd years, owned Seats and Skodas for the last 20 years, currently own 2 and run my own large VAG Group website and forum and back them all the way ....

I know I'm the worlds worst cynic but Is anyone as sceptical as me about Angela Merkels and the German populations outpouring of sympathy for the poor Syrians that they have actively persuaded them to travel to Germany dominating the headlines for weeks. I'm not sure even Mr Nutz came up with anything that crazy.

Here's an idea.  Why don't we stop talking about how naughty VAG have been.  We, unless we have our heads completely in some orifice must realise by now VW have been caught and many more are crapping themselves knowing full well they have done the same thing.

 

This really isn't about VAG.  It is about companies being forced by faceless bureaucrats to meet rediculous targets that will probably make sod all difference.

 

When the Kyoto agreement was made it was obvious that some countries never wanted to sign it because they knew full well they could never reach the targets.  That wasn't just pollution pumped out by VW cars!

 

People on here are whittling away about how much their car will lose in value or how much they can screw out of VW in compensation.  I seriously doubt if there is a bus, lorry or car that meet the strict regulations in real world driving.  I used to drive a bus for a living and in my time the buses came with ever stricter regulation and restrictions.  As a direct result they were gutless so what did we do in order to keep to time (because no one likes to be kept waiting) we thrashed them to within in inch of their lives all day everyday.  Don't think that would meet emission regs!

 

So if VW and other companies cannot sensibly meet the strict requirements are they wrong or are the requirements too unrealistic?  Look most of us drive in an urban environment regularly and do we actually think that the lorries, buses, vans and cars are all complying with the rules?  Nah don't think so!

 

This really is likely to be the tip of an iceberg and we all know how much of them is under the surface.  Stop whinging about the VAG group and is your poor little Skoda affected, stop blaming any individual person or company and think about does it actually affect your every day life and if it doesn't let it roll on as it surely will and when it does reassess your position then you may be more enlightened.  Opinions whether supposedly backed by qualifications that may or may not be relevant are just that, opinions and they are like ar$eholes.  We all have one but it doesn't mean they should be aired in public.

 

This post is far longer than I wanted it to be so the short version is:-

 

Relax let the facts come out and then make an informed decision rather than jump on a bandwagon of people who believe everything they hear or read.
