He got cat poo stuck in the roof of his mouth once, obviously being too greedy, and needed assistance with clearing it  🤮

If you're ever in the area, pop around and you can have a go at trimming his beak.  It's like clipping a really thick toenail.  We could set up a book on here to see who'll be the victor :punch: Video's on YT make it look easy, and our reptile specialist vet has previously had to yield.  Guess they have more compliant Tortoises.  I think with ours, ideally six hoomans would stand a chance of survival uninjured :D  Putting his food on a slate helps as the slightly abrasive surface slows the growth of his overbite.

Getting back on topic, my car was clean until about an hour ago, when we had a passing five minute shower.  Except it wasn't really a shower, but more of a mud-slide from the clouds 😡😡

Same here, in Herts.  I gave my car a quick wash and QD this morning, mainly to get rid of the gritty dust.  After a rain shower it looks as bad again.  How dirty the air must be nowadays...

Likewise.

D’you reckon we could start a ‘Me Too’ campaign for clean air?  🙂

We've had that here as well...  But with the addition of one of the neighbours having their drive done and the guy doing it cutting blocks with a stihl saw...

Fingers crossed there isn't a cement desert anywhere nearby then, otherwise I'm stuffed! 😡

They obviously need more watering cans to keep it tamped down, and mebbe a bit more grass seed to help keep it in place.

Some bird crap is like glue.  It took me about quarter of an hour of hard scrubbing to shift what what probably pidgeon poo on the slats of our garden seat. Must try to find a way of stopping the beggars from perching on the top slat and emptying their cloaca.

Sounds like you need a "cloaca'n'dagger" solution here ...

Dogs.

No, to be fair, dog owners.

I'd like to say its a minority dog owners but based on this mornings walk it would appear that it is in fact a majority 😡

  • Cr@p lying around all over the place, such as right in the middle of a narrow path!
  • Dogs shaking themselves dry of muddy water as others walk by - with no acknowledgement or apology form the [disinterested] owner (don't get me going on the wildlife disturbance, cost and inconvenience of river bank erosion caused by the four-legged beasties)
  • Clusters of dogs/owners stood blocking the path with not a smidge of consideration for other walkers, joggers, or cyclists
  • Dogs allowed to run/walk/stop right in front of walkers and joggers.

Seems to me that many a dog owner is so wrapped in their little sh!t machines they loose all consideration for their fellow humans

<Rant Mode = OFF>              (well it does now...)

Needlessly over-gunned. I am a fairly good shot with my air rifle. But you have to hit pidgeons in the head, because a normal .177 pellet won't get through the thick wing feathers.

A long time ago my late father got fed up with pidgeons attacking his cabbage patch, and asked me to get him a cheap shotgun. Found a nice little hammer-action .410, second-hand at a London gun-dealer, which he used occasionally.

One day, when he was away at his office, my daffy mother noticed a pidgeon on the cabbages, so she got the little shotgun, loaded it, opened the bedroom window but in her excitement she pulled the trigger before the gun was lined up. Result: an expensive large hole in the good bedroom carpet. 😧

That was one very chilled Tortoise

Opinions can be quite polarised, but the likes of a dentist's drill or dremel are considered to be quite stressful on a Tortoise.  Having said that, the Yorkshire Tortoise didn't seem particularly bothered by it.

It'd be interesting to see what that NOx line did over the next decade.

on my way to work yesterday morning, the mid morning presenter was on the breakfast slot doing his 1-2min "coming up today" bit with the breakfast crew as they all do now for some reason.

part of the line up i didnt get to hear was an item on tyre particulate emissions being as bad or worse than anything coming out the exhaust pipe, regardless of vehicle propulsion system... so thatl be another line on the air quality charts needed

You've only got to look at the build up of tyre 'crumb' off the racing line on the F1 races to see an extreme version of how much 'stuff' comes off vehicle tyres.

Last night I checked my online credit card account only to find a charge that I didn't recall authorising, after a bit of checking I found it was for my caravan insurance, when they sent out the renewal quote 12 days ago there were 6 attached PDFs I only looked at the first one at the time that gave the renewal price, so last night I started to read the others and in small print on the third or fourth one was a single line, "that if I was happy with everything I didn't need to do anything and they would renew using the payment method originally used"  the thing is I don't recall giving them an ongoing authority to debit that card ? As it happens I went on a comparison site and the same company were the cheapest at £20 less than the renewal quote so I renewed with them.  Phoned the company this morning and got them to cancel the auto renewal and arrange the refund back to my account.

A timely reminder to keep an eye on those auto-renewals - some can be a bit sneaky.

Thing is I don't recall ticking any box to give them authority to auto-renew or to debit my card without agreement ?

Possibly a sneaky tick box to opt out rather than opt in?
