Damon lives a couple of miles from me, so I will nip round to see if that is the plan.😉

if at all.

- from BBC news article

Meanwhile, Silverstone has said the British Grand Prix cannot be held with spectators but the track is in talks with government "on the viability of an event behind closed doors".

Under current plans, the old British Grand Prix date of 19 July would be the first of two races at Silverstone, with the second a week later on 26 July.

That is after the 2 planned home races for Red Bull at Zeltweg on 5th and 12th July.

The CEO is talking about racing from July to December finishing at Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

Liberty announces 84% drop in income from F1. Finally Mr Moustache accepts reality and states that there may be no F1 at all in 2020. A bit less than his last estimate of 15 to 18 races

Ferrari not renewing Vettel's contract. Clear who the new Scuderia number one driver is now.

  • Author

Who's it gonna be?

Riccardo is known to be faster than Vettel and hasn't renewed at Renault.

Sainz is probably available too?

Hamilton's a free agent next year.

Perez contract could probably be bought out.

Finally some F1 excitement...

I think Sainz / Perez are cheapest and least likely to trouble Charles on pure speed or politics, but if that's what Ferrari actually want then they have Giovinazzi at Alfa who they could put in the Ferrari for free pretty much.

Vettel was being paid $43 million per year and delivered nothing in return.

I think Vettel refused what was offered this time.

Short contract and a pay cut

Mind you he's had bloody years to get it done. Neither him nor Alonso could quite bag a title in a red car.

In fact if you ignore the extremely dodgy 2007 title won by Kimi (late season match-fixing after Ferrari-gate anyone?) no one has won in a Ferrari since Schumacher.

The underated Felipe Massa came closer to it than either Vettel or Alonso - agonisingly missing out to Hamilton by 1 point.

as per a tweet today, I can see many people thinking this scenario

Lol. I Like that but more likely Hamilton finishes third behind Vettel's Mercedes and Verstappen's RedBull.

That's the thing, if Hamilton vacates the Merc they can get Vettel cheap.

Not a bad record though, 3rd most wins by any Ferrari driver.

Behind Lauda but ahead of Ascari, Alonso, Raikkonen, Massa...

Prost and Mansell were tempted by Ferrari money but it bought them no titles and no glory just a healthy bank balance.

Prost went to Ferrari because his team mate burned him off, same as Vettel did. They were both up 5h1t creek at their previous teams.

Mansell went there because Williams were so desperately slow after being dumped by Honda.

Trying to think of another who went to lead Ferrari from an uncompetitive team - Lauda maybe (at BRM) (and he was desperate and bankrupt at the time)?

I don't think Mansell or Prost had a more competitive offer on the table than the clearly second best car of the time?

Doubt Hamilton will leave Mercedes, unless Ferrari "make him an offer he cant refuse" Vettel cant take the pressure, he won at Red Bull only when their car dominated everything else. Plus if his co-driver got close he always turned nasty.

Its true. He got burned off by Ricciardo and left. He got burned off by LeClerc and left. He's unlikely to make an impact against Max or Lewis, so there are no top teams available. Who else would he drive for?

I see retirement the only way ahead for Vettel, unless he wants to risk a season teamed with Ocon or Norris that could only blemish his record again.
