If Lewis doesn't want the challenge of driving a Ferrari in 2021 perhaps Sainz will leave McLaren and that would allow Vettel to swap seats alongside a less experienced team mate.

The speculation in the press is that Sainz is the new man in red. (But that could just be a smokescreen if they're really after one of the big guns (Lewis or Daniel)?)

I think Sainz will probably get the Ferrrari.

Riccardo will likely stay put for the money since McLaren wont pay him what Renault do.

That leaves a vacant McLaren-Mercedes for ???

Vettels record has 2 big blemishes on it already. A season where he doesn't demolish Norris would be a third strike and reduce his legacy to complete rubble.

We just have to wait until the end of August for the silly season to give the answers.

The silly season is right now. As soon as Ferrari announce the others will follow.

I expect Ferrari have been talking to other drivers in advance of this event. Who knows? their negotiating stance might have been designed to push Vettel out? With another contract already done with driver X ready to be signed ?

Lewis Hamilton became the richest British Sportsperson last year adding another £37 million to his pension pot which now stands at £224 million for the 6 times F1 Champion.

Sainz confirmed at Ferrari. Can't tell me that contract was thrown together in a day and a half.

Daniel signs for McLaren confirmed earlier

Vettel is finished. He has been a pudding for a couple of seasons now.

Fully expect him to retire at the end of the season.

Alonso to Renault

Alonso? Not coming back either IMHO. The only place Vettel can go is Mercedes instead of Bottas.

Plenty of speculation there.

Love Alonso, complete driver and works well with Renault

I think Ocon would be too much for the old guy a lot of the time.

Does that make me the F1 smart arse with my prediction yesterday?

Alonso to Renault

Looking likely Vettel to Renault with available seats quickly disappearing.

Why? It's a midfield team going nowhere. No interest for Vettel or Alonso really. Renault are always first to quit F1 when times are hard too - like now?

Lewis is not going to leave Mercedes and Toto won't want Vettel there with Lewis and a big question mark over whether Horner would take him back with Max the obvious No.1 now.

Marko had already said No. Wolff said he would have to consider Vettel if he was available.

Lewis would back himself to beat Vettel in the same car. A Merc team with both would be something 😀

Granted it would be great for Mercedes to have a German driver in the team however memories of Prost and Senna crashing into each other as the title decider not so appealing.

spelling mistake

Hamilton would not be scared of Vettel in same team. Vettel is mediocre at best

I agree about Hamilton but Vettel is possibly better marketing fodder for Mercedes than Valterri though, and he is a proven serial winner when the car is right.

Even when its not the best car (the last 5 years to be honest), he's still won 14 times at Ferrari during this era of almost total Mercedes domination.

Has Bottas ever even got close to Rosberg's standard as #2? I think not, so without a contract for next year I'd say he's very vulnerable to being replaced..

Perhaps he could take up commentating and replace Brundle, Webber or Coulthard.

I think it helps to have a 'personality' to work on presenting on the TV.🤔

Andrew Benson only about 24 hours late. He really is a knob.
