Infotainment System Restarting endlessly

So when & where can we get it from?

The reason I ask is that the regular restarts are annoying if I want to use AA, it's fine if I just connect the phone for calls.

As written earlier, from me or @Rainesh

I have sent link by PM

  • I had so many spontaneous reboots this week with even 4 occurring on the same day that the infotainment system was practically unusable. That’s why I decided to go ahead and install 1941 yesterday.

Or at the dealership, by reporting MIB restarts and providing them with TPI number provided by @TheUltraRunner :)

I recently registered here to inform others that my situation was quite similar to the one described in this thread. I own an Octavia built in April 2023, and apart from the occasional infotainment restart, I haven't encountered any other issues.

The infotainment restarts were sporadic and not very frequent, although they became more common during a recent heatwave. Roughly 30 seconds after starting the car, the music would stop and the infotainment system would restart itself. Sometimes it would happen twice in a row, and other times three times. On the head unit, it would display the message "Audio unit not available." However, after a successful restart, the issue would disappear.

Currently, I'm using version 1900 of the software, and my dealer hasn't informed me about the availability of the 1941 update just yet. They have scheduled some other replacements for July 4th and will bug them then about it. Following the advice given by other users here, I changed my location to incognito mode. Since then, I've started my car four times and driven some kilometers without experiencing any infotainment restarts.

This might be a temporary solution (I'm not sure yet; I need more time to test it) until the 1941 software update becomes available. Does anyone know if this update will be delivered over-the-air (OTA) or if it requires a mandatory installation by the dealer?

Incognito mode is not mandatory. Not share my position is enough.

You have a Private Message, best of luck

Yes, my dealer also suggested service visit and system update. It should took only 3 hours.

Visited my dealer today to say about the issue and gave them the firmware number and TPI number and they've confirmed that it is outstanding against my car and will be done FOC as it's under warranty, also a couple of other things need to be done, so I'll let them do it because if they screw it up they've got to sort it.

I can foresee what's going to happen. The car will do an automatic download and install it itself via the OTA system. 🙄

My car goes in on July 20th at 0800 - 1600

Hello everyone, new forum member here.

My car's infotainment was also rebooting all the time since late april after update to 1896 on february 27th. Usually once or twice at the start of the ride but the most was 5 times in a row.

I contacted a dealer yesterday and got the answer today that there was already released TPI 2065556/10. So 2065556/9 mentioned on previous page isn't even the latest one anymore. The /10 is also about update to SW1941 on the infotainment.

Anyway got my car scheduled for update to SW1941 on July 5th.

@TheWanderer Did you notice lately anyone getting an major update over the air? I think Skoda stopped doing that since it was too many issues with the last one sometime in 2022.

No I didn't, I've only had this car since February. Quite a few updates but they've all been done in a short time and the last one screwed up my infotainment system.

Yes these are revision versions, and could change tomorrow, or in a week!

99% of the detail will probably be the same, but could also be something else like make sure TPI xxxxxxx is already applied etc, or a new process to perform after to make sure things are working as intended.

Big updates, which changes SW number, they don't come over the air.

I am dog tired, but from memory 1896 onwards, the OTA updates were supposed to be rolled out... but this is VAG.

There have been reports of user's getting OTA updates that actually increase the SW Level, probably released to a few test VIN's or a range of VIN's to see how a few test guinea pigs get on.

Mobile phones update the same, they release it for a Country and await the feedback/monitor forums 😁

Additional information

Hi all,

I've just installed the 1941 firmware by my dealer (from which I both the car) a couple of hours ago. The guy that picked up my car seems to be aware of this problem (nothing surprising for him), funny thing the MIB restarted(twice) in from his eyes when he was filling the service form.  Even so, he asked me about some evidence(videos/pictures) for the SK to show them. 🙃
The whole process took 3h.

No reboots in the short trip(~20km) back home, but tests and statistics are still on-going. I'll update this thread after more(short and long) trips.

Hopefully we get to the bottom of this issue.

Good luck all, to "fix" your cars.

Loving the sneaky VW 1889 version before it swaps to SK1896, then to your SK1941.

Best of luck with the next few journeys.

Here's 2065556/10. Changes from revision 9 in amber.

I’m sorry, but how does this relate to the latest software version? Please explain.
