By my experince you dont need rear whiper. A had a car before octavia for 13 years with no rear whiper, and now my octavia withot one. Heaters of rear glass do the trick.

I dunno about you, but I cannot see **** in heavy rain in my Octavia if the rear wiper isn't on.

  • I had so many spontaneous reboots this week with even 4 occurring on the same day that the infotainment system was practically unusable. That’s why I decided to go ahead and install 1941 yesterday.

Anyone found a solution or had the same problem?  Any advice greatly appreciated.

Catch the moment when infotainment is on and switch privacy setting one step back towards maximum privacy. It may do the trick. Otherwise, in this case dealership was changing my MIB and twice it didn't help, it is kinda obvious that the problem lies in software, not the hardware. And of course it may have quite bad consequences as my radio was turning on and draining 12V battery completely during the night.

I like mine. Gives the dogs something to chase in back of car

Maybe that's the case on the estate. On the liftback you definitely don't need the wiper. Once the car is moving, the rear glass barely gets wet in the rain.

Is there a way to tune a radio station manually? It's very annoying that I can't find specific stations...

Question belongs in a different topic, but here you go:

Wouldn't mind getting rid of the DAB and having FM only as DAB reception is terrible where I am and it keeps locking on to London radio stations which I don't want.

Thanks for the replies guys. I appreciate it a lot.

I’ve had a 1.5 SE L First Edition for almost 3 years. Connectivity issues dogged it until just 5 days ago when SW 1941 was installed. I bought it at the start of the Covid Lockdown - customer service was very poor. It was continuously due a ‘fix ‘soon’.

My First Edition model included nice additional features.  I had no worries about reliability or after-care service as I had been a VW owner for decades. These were always, including my current (VAG Group) Octavia, mechanically reliable. However First Editions are I believe something of a testbed and for too many of us for too long our Infotainment/OTA system has not been reliable.

The 3 year warranty expires soon - I’m not ready to go electric -yet - car is low mileage….I’ll keep it but it will be £35/month x 24  (£840 ) to extend the warranty for two years inc 2x MOT and 2 x Services. As I am keeping the (mechanically sound) car I have little option but to buy an £840 extended warranty.

So I investigated the “All in One” extended 2 year warranty above. I already have a ‘First two Services’ costing over £400. I am on extended life servicing. My first service was in 2022 and with extended-life servicing I may not be due the 2nd service under the plan until 2024.

Skoda Finance inform me that in order to take out the “All in One ‘ extended warranty (+2 yrs warranty, + 2 services + 2 years roadside assistance = £840) I can not have any pre-existing plan in place. My only option is to discard the over £200 I invested in the second service under my existing plan  in order to sign up for the 2 year extended warranty.

Owing to the continuous  infotainment problems I have experienced over the first 3 years and in view of the fact that further SW updates will be chargeable I want to take out the £840 2 yr extension. But at the prospect of throwing away over £200 already invested in servicing in order to do this I feel I am left with no option but to dismiss the extended warranty plan.

Is this an option - buy the extended warranty without the All In ‘extras’ of services, MOTs and roadside assistance.

You’d get to use up your current investment, and add in the warranty. Only miss out on the roadside assistance (which I think is AA).

Thanks SteveTheElder

I have looked for but can not find any reference to buying years beyond the ‘one year’ with the simple warranty extension offer.

However it has made me reexamine the breakdown of the ‘All in One’ in comparison to 2 x of single  year extension - assuming the subsequent year is on offer. It may be something I consider but it galls me to throw away £220 already invested in my existing service plan.

A compromise is to have the second service under the existing  plan done now - even though it is not due for quite some time under extended service.  That would however mean I will have extracted full (ish) value under my existing service plan and I am then at liberty to take out the “All in One”

Thanks, this has given me food for more thought.

Did not read well

Had 3 OTA updates since 1941 manual installation. No problem at all..

But guys.. your problem can be also related to the other not updated units in car which are not related to the infortaiment system.. My dealer updated all other units about 8 months ago when I had problem that car drain accu. because infortaiment started at night by itself and because lights was powered on by itself..

At that time I get new accu and they updated all SW and they show me that one unit was causing problem and that it was SW related bug.. After that time the only problem was restarting infortaiment some times, which completly stopped with 1941 update.

Regarding poor mobile signal.. using Samsung routine and when phone connects to car bluetooth phone make hotspot for car which then auto connect to it and have internet.. so updates can be downloaded only when I'm in car and driving..

PS. This way you do not need to pay for mobile data for car..

Maybe you have had a duff download in the meanwhile.

Who can tell where I can find file name of installed software? In hidden service menu I can not see it, it just says that it starts update of software.

No, I try to see what I have now. I did not prepare any usb sticks and I am not going to update now. Not very clear what tries to install the system

Well unless you follow the guide carefully and you haven't formatted the usb stick so it's completely empty first then it has a good chance of fouling up and you stand a good chance of bricking your infotainment system.

You must follow the instructions to the letter. And the normal caveat applies in that you do it at your own risk.

Like I said download the file if someone has given you the link, extract the files to a new folder 📂, format the usb drive and then copy the files just 3 of them across onto the empty usb stick.

Watch the video that's on the guide and follow it.

Yes, thank you for good advice. But I am not going to update something, I just want to see what is installed on my car. Is it possible?

If you want to see what is already installed on your car you have to go to:
Menu => Settings => System Information
It's there you can see the SW version, display SW version and the Navigation Database (how old your maps are...) - see picture

Unless of course he means that he wants to know all equipment?

Hi all,

Only joined today, please be gentle 😁

I've read all the pages about the infotainment system, mine has the restart issue, every 10 minutes or so and is running version 1896,  I've downloaded the files,  formatted a USB drive (32GB), tried using FAT32, exFAT, also have a 64GB USB which I used another piece of software to force it to be able to be formatted to FAT32, no matter what I do, I plug the USB into either of the 2 USB C sockets, and when entering the update options both of the USB entries are empty, I cannot select either of them, so it appears the USB drives aren't being recognised.

I am using a cable that converts from USB to USB C as mine only has USB C connections in,  my phone works fine, so they do work.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
