Update to Version 1969

Featured Replies

So, if I should draw a conclusion from this thread then it would be to let your Skoda dealer do the necessary upgrades unless you want to risk ending up with a car with greater problems than the ones you want to solve.

I hate to say this because I agree with those who say that Skoda should finish the job and deliver a flawless software instead of charging their customers for the shortcomings of Skoda´s software.

In my world, a chargeable software is one that will provide you with new functions and benefits.

It's a disgusting policy to charge for an upgrade that will only repair faults found in earlier versions of the software.

Hi everyone, a couple of days ago, I went to the local dealer to update my infotainment system but unfortunately, the system can't be updated because it freeze. They tried many times to update without success.   My software is1940, can you tell me how to fix this problem?

THX!

They need to replace some components by the sounds of it, I think they may have tripped the component protection, unless someone else knows better.

My problems were sorted out by Skoda replacing the MIB module in the end. The screen just died after a week of the on/off issue. Luckily all covered by warranty.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I took mine up to @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits where I had blind spot assist and a rear view camera fitted along with every software update that was available applied. The infotainment system is now on 1969 and all my problems seem to be rectified if anything changes I'll update here.

Hi DaveFromSydney. On my MY23 Octavia RS with 1900 software, voice control can’t adjust AC (e.g. set temperature), it says ‘not supported in this language’ . Did you mean that 1941 update will enable voice AC control? Thanks. I’m from Melbourne btw.

Confirm that upgrading to 1941 fixed voice control. I can now voice control AC and seat heating. Audio quality seems improved as well.

That is great! What other modules needed updates?

Is there a way to delete the software completely and reinstall it?

Can someone provide me with the current software?

No, the security policies stops retrograde or dropping back to previous firmware or software levels.

Can you give me the latest firmware for my OCTAVIA 4?

Just had a quote from my dealer for £156 to update the Firmware.  -  Having trouble getting this through Warranty as Skoda UK not interested.

Anybody had theirs done for free?

Ok can I also delete the versions? And completely reinstall them?

No. Security policies prevent downgrading.

My 2021 Octavia SE-L etech has had some buggy problems with the infotainment system (screen freezing, stuck on loading settings, climate controls missing and can't turn off the cold air, very laggy on startup, unable to raise the volume control for android auto voice assistant so can't hear what it's staying etc) so I read through the threads about this issue and find that recent firmware updates resolve a lot of problems other mark 4 owners have been having. So I called the delearship to ask about how to get these problems resolved as my system won't update over the air and I appear to be stuck on version 1733. I am told that there are no updates for my car, the last update they can see on their system was in July 2021. I said but I'm on 1733 and the latest version is 1969 but they said no, my car doesn't have any updates available and if there were any recalls for known issues it would be on their database. I was told to factory reset the infotainment system as that has resolved any issues that they have ever encountered with it and if that doesn't work I'll need to book it in for a diagnostic. Can someone help me to understand why everyone seems to be getting firmware updates that fix their problems but I am stuck with the old version?

There are updates in both hardware and firmware for the infotainment system, tell them to look for the TPI regarding infotainment system faults.

If your local dealer doesn't want to know and is unhelpful then go to another one or an independent Skoda/VW garage who can.

My car is having it done next week as part of a fault on a couple of other systems, so should be done under warranty.

It would be handy to see the release notes for each firmware upgrade so I can check what bug fixes each update is supposed to resolve. Does anyone have a link to these?

You're assuming that Skoda issue release notes - my experience is that they don't.

Hi everybody,

my car had software v1941. For last maybe 8-10 months it was trying by itself to update by OTA. It has never completed the update, hence the screen always shows a notification and if I push it I read “updating software…”

By reading this forum and others, last week I have tried by myself to update it to v1969 by USB. Downloaded file .rar was correct, also the folders and files in my USB were correct. My USB was 16GB exFAT.

I started the update and it was working correctly. First phase MIB3OI_MCU reached 100%. Probably starting second phase MIB3OI_CPU I got an “image error” (or something similar).

I pushed “retry”, I have tried several times. No luck, always same error.

It seemed I could not do anything more.

Then I also removed and put back the USB, no luck.

Now the system does not read again the USB. It is always on that menu but I cannot push any particular button, only “retry”, or push on the different phases and it shows the current version and that it was not possible to make the update.

I can reboot it but I cannot switch it off. Hence I suppose it will discharge the car battery. So I have unplugged the "infotainment" fuse and it is completely OFF.

Any idea?

Thanks

Thanks for the idea.

Unfortunately I have tried with another USB stcik 128gb and also a SSD with direct USB-C connection. Result is the same, display is in techinical mode, it does not ask me to read the external driver and does not permit to do anything. It seems like it has already files for the update but they are not good for the update

Check the fuse for usb-c ports.

One of the USB stick I use has an internal light and when I insert it I see the light blinking and then steady ON. Does it mean the USB-C fuse is fine?
