I once replaced gasked in my former car. White smoke and hard radiator hoses. Wet was cylinder number one. Clean one.

Few more random bits. Got some wiper blades ages ago as replacements, and was about to fit them: Only to discover I've bought more universal ones, i.e. the ones with a hook, which aren't the right ones for the Skoda! Bit annoyed, as I've replaced them before so should have double checked. £35.99 wasted. I'll put it into the miscellaneous expenses. Welp, decided to crack on with something else: So the washer jets were starting to be a little weird, so decided to muster up and just get genuine ones to replace several attempts at cheaper ones. You can see the part numbers, 3V0 955 987A and 3V0 955 988A, for left and right respectively. They were £21.77 each from lllparts, so £43.54, so a bit of a kick in the proverbials. They look identical, but after some perusing through the workshop manual: They apparently shoot a fan, a straight one vertically, and also some at a 45 degree to the side! I've always wondered what the actual correct adjustment for them were, so there it is, the top vertical spray should go somewhere in the top 20cm of the windscreen! Once fitted, and with the car running, the vertical jet was somewhere above halfway, so had to get to adjusting them. The genuine ones need a T8 torx to do so, and in my case, turned about 100 degrees anti clockwise to get them upwards. That, and a good wipe of the existing wiper blades seems to be ok, so no rush to replace the wiper blades. Another random thing whilst changing oil a week ago: The stupid dipstick decided to have one of its prongs snap and fly away! Not the end of the world really, but decided to source a replacement. Until it turns out there doesn't seem to be many online, and it looks to be £27 new. Maybe I should have driven to a scrapyard and gotten any which would have been sufficient, but decided: To get one of those aftermarket dipstick handles, in this case, Bevinsee? It's the sort of tat I usually don't go for, but given it was £15.59, decided why not. Amusingly, the only Youtube video I've seen about how to actually fit this involved someone using a vice to essentially crush the original plastic handle to get to the metallic dipstick underneath. I don't have a vice, so went overboard: So put the poor thing under the press, donned my safety glasses, and went to it: The handle literally flew off stage left, I don't know where it's gone. Leaving slightly bent metallic remains and the above plastic mess. Just got some pliers to bend it back slightly, and then its inserted into the new dipstick handle. The world's smallest allen key and grub screws are used to tighten the dipstick to the handle, and some o-rings are put in place, and there we are: Hopefully I don't jinx it by mentioning whether it'll come loose or whatever, but it'll do. Next time I order anything from lllparts or skoda-parts I'll consider a replacement dipstick. The heatshields around the exhaust at the rear are really rattling like buggery now, so I'll probably have to find a spare moment to muster how to actually sort that out, given the exhaust will need cutting or separating (which will probably also involve cutting given the rust and what not). I was referring to generic aftermarket direct TPMS systems - not OEM. Definitely do not consider worth the cost of fitting one of these to a vehicle that already has a perfectly adequate TPMS system fitted!

The thing can be, if they spot any marking on the inner surface of the tyres - like that that will be caused when a car has been moved with a flat tyre, then nowadays typically they will declare the tyre to be unrepairable. Kwikfit tyre pricing, at least in the past, Kwikfit can offer 2 prices, one for booking online and another for turning up and asking - you can easily work out which one will be lower without putting it to the test. Last time I had a slow puncture, I made sure that I stuck a trolley jack under that side/end of the car to avoid it even resting on a deflated tyre. My older daughter seemed to get lucky when she drove her car round to her tyre place last year with a very soft/flat tyre, I warned her not to plan to try that trick again as it could get expensive, it sounds like it happened again for her last week - I've not heard what the outcome was yet!

Hello i have big trouble. Some time ago, I wanted to read the EEPROM from the instrument cluster. Unfortunately, my kid was playing next to it and the EEPROM was erased. Does anyone have the EEPROM file from the 6Y0 920 841L instrument cluster with Maxidot?

I think it is the Traffication app, if I am not mistaken. You can check your settings in Traffication to disable the sound or even the entire notification.

Welp, the infotainment is offering 03A8 update on my late 2023 Octavia every time I turn the car on. I don't want to. I don't need it. It's going to mess things up. Bugger off, Škoda, and stop behaving like a Stellantis product. 😖

Sons is a mk1 55plate and one side of the clutch disk disintegrated. Probably down to old age as there was still a reasonable amount on the flywheel side. No air in system. It only had 60k on the clock when he got it it so it had only being doing around 3000miles a year so could also have been an elderly driver that slipped it a lot. Good shout getting it noted in the contract. His has been very reliable apart from clutch. Have had to do a couple of suspension bushes/ball joints, rear brake shoes and as said fitted a new slave cylinder but nothing major. Pretty good for a 20 year old car. Alasdair

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me. I have a 2021 Škoda Fabia with the Swing infotainment system. Part number: 6V0 035 869 H Hardware: 695 Software: 8742 I’m experiencing the well-known Apple CarPlay crackling/distorted audio issue. The sound starts crackling after a while. I have tested multiple iPhones and they all show the same problem, while Android Auto works perfectly. My Škoda dealer confirmed there is no newer official software available for my VIN, but I have read that several people solved this issue by updating to MU 8755 (MEN2_EU_SKGPx_P0080L_8755). Would anyone be willing to share the firmware or point me to a working download? Thanks in advance!

I find that both heating and cooling do work well if they start, but at busy times it's not unusual to have the attempt to contact the car time-out multiple times. For example it will work OK at 10am, but no chance of getting it to connect at 8am when everyone is preparing for their day. I'm guessing that Skoda have undersized the servers that handle the requests. When it does work it does an effective job, provided that the traction battery had a reasonable level of charge, I'm not sure what the lower limit would be.

@Warrior193 As far as i understand there is no necessity to buy original part. But there are different sensors listed as if the part matches. Which sensor should i look for?

Hi, I was looking for the latest firmware update for my Scala (MIB3 Bolero). I had problems where the unit would sometimes reboot by itself spontaneously. The Bolero had the following system details: SW Train: MEN3_EU_SK370_P2345L MU SW: 1790 I didn't want to take the risk of bricking the unit, so I made an appointment with the dealership. They told me that they weren't sure if an update would fix the problem, but they were happy to diagnose it for me. So I left the car yesterday at the dealership and they gave me a rental car. This morning, I got a call that the car was ready. They diagnosed that the unit had faulty software on it. They replaced it with the correct software with MU SW: 1800. I didn't had to pay anything, it was free of charge, and I gave the rental car back. Now the unit is working flawlessy. Kudos to the dealership and Skoda Netherlands.

Hi, my name is Nick and I live on the west side of the Netherlands, about 15 minutes away from Schiphol. In September 2025, I bought a Skoda Scala 1.0 Sport Business from 2023, to replace my Opel Corsa D from 2007 with 220k KM, which was still running and driving good. I bought the Scala with 35000 KM, and found out that the battery was broken after I just got home and want to drive somewhere. It was solved under warrenty. Right now the car has 48xxx KM's and I'm very pleased with it's performance, fuel economy and handling. I just registered on this forum to browse around for tips and trics. Kind regards, Nick

I'm pretty sure 100m at 20psi and lowish speeds wouldn't be the reason the tyre was not repairable.
