  2. Personally, I change the oil and filter in my 2020 Kodiaq 2.0 ltr tdi 150 hp every 10'000 klms, using Castrol 05w 30 long lasting oil and MANN filters. I check it routinely, and generally find that at the 5-6'000 klm, it needs a 250-300 Ml of oil. Does this ring any bells with anyone?
  3. I did it on my 2023 VW UP using OBDEleven. The car has a physical lane assist button on the dash. The car now remembers the last mode it was in. So it is left in the off position, but I can turn it on if needed. ( for the MOT ) Thanks. AG Falco
  4. Hi Alasdair, Yes the issue is my canisters part number doesn’t seem to be listed. when you look at the info on the filters especially after market filters they usually say this filter will fit x canister etc hence the confusion as Pete checked my vin which shows a completely different canister part number.

  6. This thread has been helpful, unfortunately the holding down the red button trick has stopped working in my 2020 Karoq. I went into the local platinum dealership garage today and they were less than helpful. In fact I felt like they didn’t believe me and I was very surprised they had never heard of the problem! My husband had a kamiq with the same issue which was resolved with software update, but when I asked them about this they didn’t even know what software update that could be!! It’s booked in, but I can’t say I have any faith in them after their attitude today. I’m going to write down all the possible solutions offered here to present to them!
  7. Yes. All the parts listed were bought from TPS, so they are all genuine parts and part numbers. ''Parts list a follows. 10. Hello there. I am Ian from down in Sussex by the sea. I have just put a deposit down on a 2015 Skoda Octavia VRS TDI estate as a second car for commuting and providing me with way of getting all my carp fishing gear to the lakes for me. Im looking forward to owning this car as I have had a few cars over the years, including my tuned mini countryman Cooper s auto that was my deceased wife's car, until she passed away recently. I couldn't part with the car as I couldn't bear seeing somebody else driving her car. The Octavia has a DSG gearbox so I am kind of looking forward to driving this car on a daily basis. Please forgive me if I ask any stupid questions.

  12. @defsix Thanks for the advice, I'll try checking the wiring. But I think that if the wiring was bad, the sound wouldn't be so bad when the engine warms up, or could it be related?
  13. Hi lee01, viewing the vehicle tomorrow it has the 8.25 inch touch screen with digital cockpit i know if you have the 10 inch you can have a conventional speed rev counter layout, see what it's like tomorrow. Thanks

  16. Does yours display the map in the middle? Try the multi function steering wheel 'View' and use the thumbwheel to scroll and see what appears.
  17. I did it with the 'CARISTA EVO ' on my 2020 SEL for same reason so permanently off. Not sure if this is possible with newer cars though. Good luck anyway. I presume you know it can be temporarily switched off at each start ?

  19. 2025 Fabia Se edition 8inch touch screen, digital cockpit can you select speedo and rev counter side by side. Regards robsie
  20. My issue 2 years ago was a known software problem also affecting 74 plate Superbs and Kodiaks. I successfully rejected the car and got my money back. Skoda only admitted the problem after dragging it out for 2 months. I then bought a pre facelift 24 plate e tec that's been fine

  24. Sorry I can't help you with that, I've only ever encountered an issue when it's wet. It's a known issue with a fix that involves replacing the door handle (off it concerns you that much anyway) Have you tried searching through the forum for threads/posts marked KESSY?

  27. The 2 things I always disable as soon as I start the car. I can do it now without taking my eyes off the road.
  28. Then you can leave everything inplace. All screws van be losing with the cables in place. Just turn the screen 180 degrees. Then losing the screws and unplug the volume
  29. Hi I have a 24 plate Mk4 Octavia 1.5 TSI e-tec, I often get the 'Low 12v System' warning, especially after having washed the car with the CAR KEYS in my pocket - the sensors in the door handles keep detecting the keys as I move around the car and the system keeps locking and unlocking itself!. This drains the 12v system. This is also a clue as to what may be 'keeping the car awake' so to speak. If your car is parked close to where you spend most of your time (For example, parked on driveway next to house) then everytime you move the keys they activate the door handle sensors which then watch for your keys to approach the the car prior to unlocking the doors. I can fully charge my 12v battery and can see the low 12v warning the next day, unless I put the keys in a Faraday Pouch. Of course, the battery itself may be faulty, but you could test this hypothesis by turning off the door handle sensing system in the Infortainment system.
  30. Thanks, Martin. However, I am not replacing the screen (or at least not until i find a used H49 version). I just want to unplug the touch bar to temporarility fix the issue. And I saw some instructions that the infotainment should be on before unplugging it, so that's why I asked, to double check whether the ignition and radio need to be on or off during the unplugging.
  31. I would absolutely lift it on the subframe. Having just spent nearly £1,000 fixing damage to the sill lift points - don't use them. The vehicle is designed to be lifted on a proper lift. You'll be fine using the jacking points occasionally, with the correct pad, but I wouldn't make a habit out of it.
  32. Yes, I agree with the previous comments about the displayed voltage at the "ciggy lighter" socket. Typically, my wife's 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI - now with a "one size up" AGM battery replacing the factory fitted Exide EFB, will show 12.0V > 12.3V from sitting off overnight or after a few days of not being used. At start up the voltage will initially rise to typically 12.8V - but after reversing out of the garage it will rise to typically 14.4V. Now that the temperature has dropped a bit, while driving even on journeys of 10 or more miles (auto stop/start switched off as soon as the engine has started - just because), the displayed voltage will stay around 14V maybe always - in warmer weather it will drop back to 13.4V or even less. That car was last used on Saturday and has been left outside since then, it was driven 5 miles, stopped for shopping then driven 5 miles back, and near the end of that journey, (I had forgotten to switch off auto stop!) auto stop/start was still being disabled by some conditions having not being met yet, which surprised me but that's okay as the ambient temperature is now lower - it wasn't a cabin heating demand that was causing this for me this time, but it will stop auto stop/start being enabled if you are asking for a lot of cabin air heat - having not reached set cabin air temperature is one of the conditions that is intended to disable auto stop/start.
  33. If it works, it works. Other option would be an offering from the 1.0 MQB A0 platform - A1, Polo or Ibiza. We have a 1.0 Ibiza FR for around town and it's absolutely brilliant at what we need it to do.

  36. Hey guys, my dad is driving a 2020 Octavia with a H44 unit is having issues with a flat battery. He was quoted 1700€ for a replacement unit but we would rather just unplug the touch bar. I saw all the instructions here, but I just wanted to make sure about this: 1) Do I unplug the fuses 30 and 46 before disassembly or not? 2) If I leave the fuses in, should the infotainment be turned on before unplugging the touch bar flat cable? 3) What about the ignition, on or off?
