Brake pads installed wrong in the past?
Yes I wonder if they were bedded in one side then swapped around if that could cause vibration. Now at 160 miles on the new pads and discs and all good so far!

Tire pressure value can not be seen on central infotainment display
The Sensors can be a PITA. I had a new sensor fitted front passenger side yesterday before a MOT. It was already showing before i broke the valve as being on the drivers side from the last fitting of All Season tyres as the fitter put wheels to the wrong side. Anyway the MOT tester who fitted the New Sensor pre-mot coded all 4 sensors. Supposedly. After the MOT and a pass he took the car for a road test. When i left the place the Drivers Side was showing 2.4 Bar & 36*oC and the other 3 wheels / tyres 2.2 Bar and 24*oC. I carried on a few miles & thought the new sensor on the Passenger Front would re-set. But no. I stopped off and let them know, but it was closing time for them. So once i have time it will be going back to get coded properly................. Re Setting low pressures. On my BMW you go on the cars screen to the Tyre Size on the Car and Summer or Winter tyres and it recommends the Tyre Pressure range. Then it asks if you want to set to a pressure different from the recommended range. If you do you accept then Set the TPMS as you have inflated the tyres.

Brake pads installed wrong in the past?
I think a lot of people don’t realise the crescent moon goes piston side It’s there mostly for anti squeal but I bet it can contribute to a little vibration tbh Your previous pads may not have been bedded in correctly too, so be gentle for about 150miles

Roof bars and or Roof box.
Not for a Scala, but I got a set of Nordrive bars and 2 bike holders for my Octavia, from micksgarage, but I’m sure available elsewhere. Fully adjustable, and come with custom feet to match the curve of your car roof - specify the car model during the order and they supply the correct foot pack. Haven’t had any issue with any of it, and the bike rails even fit my thick framed mtb. Lot cheaper than a set of Thule bars, and not massively less aesthetically acceptable. Bit windy at motorway speeds, but overall fine

Tire pressure value can not be seen on central infotainment display
...But the system warnings should be inhibited if you reset the system at the lower pressures (within reason) you want to use.

Tire pressure value can not be seen on central infotainment display
Lower pressures could well be appropriate for snowy conditions, and, in any case will soon gain some pressure once you are running - I'd leave them as is and recheck at your first rest stop.

Thinking about an Elroq, but...
Consider using Steel-Wire Armoured Cable for the run.

Fuel Tank Cap Replacement Seal
I confess to being very surprised that this seal was picked up on an MOT - was it flagging a fuel purge fault (MIL) on the instrument cluster?
-
Fuel Tank Cap Replacement Seal
Replied, but for the benefit of others who may be reading:- the seal ring part number is 1K0 201 557A, currently £11.55 + VAT from Skoda. Lots of offerings for less than half that price online from the aftermarket, and lets face it, Skoda didn't supply a particularly durable one when this car was built, so there may not be a strong case for staying genuine.

Firmware 6276 source
IMHO it's rather HW issue, not SW

Firmware 6276 source
I don't own the radio; I have it connected to a bench power supply here, so I can't test those specific functions. It has been running on the power supply for several days now. Unfortunately, the owner doesn't know the details either—since the radio wasn't really working, he didn't use it and just wants to get it fixed up. Do you think it could be a software issue?

Infotainment retrofitting
Hi, I have the following system details on my mkIII Octavia Elegance -- Device part #: 5E 003 587 4A Hardware: 040 Software: 0421 It has the smaller screen, MIB1, but not sure if it's Bolero, Amundsen or Columbus? I assume this has never been updated, but I don't get the download screen, as I don't have the maps SD card -- it just complains about not having a card. I'm getting a card off the Yorkshire bay -- by gum! How do I get the latest soft/firm ware? Maybe the software on the SD card will also need updating, regularly ...

Electric window
Okay started with both windows failing to open, it's been into Skoda three times with no positive lasting outcome. After the windows wouldn't open a Skoda employee forced them to shut and for a while they opened and closed but the glass could not be correctly placed on either side. Entering our garage I close the mirrors, sometimes when in a morning they will work and when selecting reverse the windows dip as had be programmed.Todsy everything stopped mirrors folded in but would not open left for 3/4 hours ignition on and mirrors opened but nothing worked, moved car onto garage locked mirrors wouldn't turn in locked and messy disarmed. Any solutions welcomed

Thinking about an Elroq, but...
Thanks for that information, most helpful. I'm going to have to wait a while if I want to try and tap into the mains as the ground is like concrete and impossible to dig with shovels or spades, so once we have a decent amount of rain that softens the ground I might be able to get our gardening team to dig a trench across the lawn about 12" deep so I can install a cable conduit (usually a heavy duty water pipe) and bury it in the trench up to a base of a redundant lamp post base, reuse that for a charger on a post.

VRS Mk1 crankcase ventilation system
Creation Motorsport are not far from me, but not sure if I like their catchcan kit- looks lie one of the cheap ones on ebay with some hose thrown into the deal (£67)

VRS Mk1 crankcase ventilation system
thanks bullet-guy! Yes this forum has supplied all the info I need to at least do the SAI, N249,N112 deltes and, if I get that far, then fit a catch can. Hopefully the piggyback sump plug will arrive tomorrow- until I've sorted that out, I'm not ordering £250 of parts. Everyone keeps telling me I'm crazy to attempt this, but I've had such a series of hassles from garages, it's down to me. Still don't know if i can start on the deletes and arrive at a point that allows me to drive the car- probably inadvisable. Cos it's likely to take a few days and I expect problems along the way I'll try not to ask too many questions - I expect a lot of the folks who have contributed to the 'Octavia Mk 1' sub-forum have moved onto other cars by now. The posts are over ten years old thanks for the help so far !
