Suitable glow plugs
Something to do with alloy being hot and expanded so less chance of snapping glow plug if the threads had seized . Alloy expands more than steel so threads would be easier to remove. The addition of oil around them for a few days when running car allowed oil to penetrate threads. He was an old diesel mechanic with 60 years plus experience. Alas he is no longer around but was an excellent mechanic who you could go to with any problem and he would help. Alasdair

This thread might help, but don't hold your breath... https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/529547-media-in-cable-for-ipod-on-mk4/ Alternatively, get a physically small USB-C memory stick, copy the music to it, and plug it into one of the two ports in the centre console. The above link talks of the media format, playlist format etc.

Hello from France – Fabia Mk1 2001 owner
Hi @Lee01 , Thank you very much for the warm welcome and for sharing the PDF! I really appreciate your help. I'm currently working on a few OEM retrofits for my 2001 Fabia Mk1, so the electrical diagrams will definitely come in handy. I'll have a look at the PDF and open a separate topic in the Fabia section for my technical questions. Thanks again! Cheers!

What battery to get?
I stuck a genuine AGM in mine - I've had enough battery problems. IIRC I wasn't able to do mine with OBD11 as it was a locked gateway/SFD and needed ODIS. SFD wasn't rolled out until 2020 so you should be fine - just a note for anyone reading this in the future.

Aluminium Front Subframe and Wishbones
It does all fit - the alu subframe is standard on the A3 and S3. I'm not sure what you've already done, but it would make sense to get some droplinks and do the ARB and such while you've got it all apart. You don't need alu arms, but something like the standard caster SuperPro LCAs are a nice upgrade for longevity with the polybushes. If you want to splash out, SuperPro, RL, 034 and others all make alu arms with nice bushings. I know the TT arms are alu, but not sure about the Passat. Either way, there are better options than OE - @travs went for... Delphi?

A VW Group Global Recall 2026.
A) I meant in Europe (there is no recall in the UK as no RHD are affected, apparently) and B) as above, there are recalls in the EU.

Can I enable Indirect (ABS wheel sensor based) TPMS on 2012 Yeti SE?
The ABS coding for Maxi-Dot control is different from that used with a hardware button.

Thanks. I did that and no options were there. Wondering if this means the Skoda tech is too recent to recognise the i pod which is over 10 years old. Any ideas how to play my fav music now? There's not even a CD player!

A VW Group Global Recall 2026.
The ADAC say different. October 2nd https://www.adac.de/news/auto-rueckruf-vw-audi-lenkung/ You can check using your VIN here (I don't have a VIN for Skoda to check myself). https://recall.skoda-auto.com/107/de-de

Can I enable Indirect (ABS wheel sensor based) TPMS on 2012 Yeti SE?
O.k thanks, I made some progress but not there yet. I compared my long code with yours after following vcds labels for byte change and there was a difference. I assumed if I copied and pasted your long code then all the ABS coding would be correct including the unlabelled byte. Did that. Then enabled virtual module 4C in the Gateway installation list and for the first time the scan came back listing 4C without errors. At IGN on boot I didn't see the tyre dash icon or additional tyre settings in the display. Then I enabled Tyre pressure II in instruments and the icon came up. I went to dash settings store and that worked until I tried to actually store and the confirmation 'Tyre pressures not stored' was given. I'm puzzled about this because tyre pressures aren't measured or stored by indirect ABS TPMS. The Tire pressure warning stayed stuck on the dash screen and through IGN ON reboot. Reset via basic settings in ABS screen confirmed TPMS was active, and after reset the screen block message changed, but the icon still remained stuck on. I read ABS TPMS reset via vcds didn't work for one poster (Although the helper text said it should without the switch). I'm wondering if there are at least 2 different TPMS systems and messages in the display aren't for indirect ABS so the warning stays lit because it gets garbage data and requires the hard wired reset switch on the ABS controller? It would make sense after coding and enabling to set the warning to default on, then have to reset to test the switch which I've now discovered after holding 2-3 seconds gives a confirmation ding. When the switch kit arrives I'll explore getting the ABS switch wire through the firewall to test my theory. This is important too: Deflated one of the rear tires slightly, by about 8% (38 -> 35). Drove about 5 miles. No warning light. Deflated same tire by about 20% of original value (38 -> 31). TPMS warning light appeared after about a mile. Deflating from 38 to 31 is a big change, although it might have lit at 10% but still took longer than what I'd expect. Thinking some, road conditions (and potholes!) will cause changes in tyre rolling radius as suspension moves up and down and they may want to factor in average background error noise. Thanks for your help.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
It's doing well if 5+ years old. After the problems we had with my wife's EV 12v battery (2 x AA call outs for no start events) I fitted this battery monitoring device so I could keep an eye on the battery health. Of course with a new battery everything is fine but it's a peace of mind type thing for when battery get older. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08VHMJYXY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details

Hello from France – Fabia Mk1 2001 owner
You might find the linked pdf useful. I have the full wiring diagram if you need it but it's too large a file to upload on here. Let me know if you need it and we sort an alternative method of getting it to you. Electrical system.pdf

What battery to get?
My original Varta AGM will be 14 years old in January. Another test for it will be early January when it won't have been used for 6 weeks (off to warmer climes) It's a no brainer I'll get another Varta. Do the prices include coding?

A VW Group Global Recall 2026.
By no recall what's being meant is no official SAFETY recall on the UK Government website. It's telling that the VW Hub even uses the word "campaign", meaning they have (once again) apparently persuaded "the powers that be" that a safety issue is not a safety issue so can be handled as a Service Campaign or Voluntary Recall.

What battery to get?
EFB is cheaper so tends to be fitted in Production in preference to AGM which (due to its construction) has better CCA performance and usually longer life.

Can I enable Indirect (ABS wheel sensor based) TPMS on 2012 Yeti SE?
That ABS module is definitely capable of indirect TPMS - being a Yeti has nothing to do with it VCDS is asking the gateway which is correctly stating there is an unregistered module. Neither VCDS or the gateway know if it's a real module or a virtual one, regardless you need to add 4C to the gateway installation list and then it's fixed. For example, "46-Central Conv" is shown in your installation list currently - however, that's also a virtual module (created by 09). It's not unusual in the VAG world. I don't think there is much documentation about the learning procedure. I would guess at least 10-15 minutes of 15mph+ driving should get a OK baseline and hopefully a complete calibration after an hour or so. Just as an example from another forum regarding indirect TPMS on a MK60EC1: Drove about 50 miles with equally inflated, sensorless tires. No TPMS light or other warnings on dash Deflated one of the rear tires slightly, by about 8% (38 -> 35). Drove about 5 miles. No warning light. Deflated same tire by about 20% of original value (38 -> 31). TPMS warning light appeared after about a mile. edit: Slightly older MK60EC1 in another Yeti showing it working without the phycial button. They had to use VCDS to reset the learning each time instead: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/192503-yeti-with-tpms-switch-abs-module-coding-required/ The extra coding changes and adding 4C is only required to enable reset via maxidot cluster. They also suggest an hour calibration drive.

Hello from France – Fabia Mk1 2001 owner
Hi everyone! Greetings from France! I'm the owner of a 2001 Škoda Fabia Mk1 (6Y) Classic, and I enjoy maintaining it and carrying out OEM-style retrofits. I'm particularly interested in the electrical systems, factory wiring and adding original equipment that wasn't fitted to the car when new. I've already found some very useful technical discussions here, so I decided to join the community. Looking forward to learning from other Fabia owners and sharing my progress! Cheers!

Pathetic single tone horn upgrade
@Prillerthriller May I ask from where you obtained the kit comprising the two Hella horns and that included the supplementary 'splitter' wiring harness? I notice that there's a current advert on AliExpress for the two Hella horns and splitter harness for £11.59 + £7.39 delivery. For around £20 and (reasonably) straightforward installation, it would almost be a no-brainer.
