Also, those recalls have just been published in the last few hours. I'm also a conspiracy theorist, and pulling lines out of a post without the full context has zero meaning. The post by @Evolution13 specifically addresses those cars with electric door handles and says that all new cars in China must by 1st Jan 2027 have mechanical door handles inside and outside to ensure safety during power losses and crashes. No not in the slightest. Would you want a G-Wiz? A G-Wiz is officially a quadricycle, made in India with an 11-year production run of just 4,600 units. I used to see these in London, at a top speed of about 20mph, range of 50 miles and zero crash protection. Citroen never officially made an electric version of the C1, I think you are confusing it with the Citroen Ami, which is also not a car; it's an electric quadricycle with a top speed of just 28 mph and a 46-mile range so its not anything like a Nissan Leaf, or Tesla. Talk about rewriting history; I was surprised that you never went for something like a 1914 Beardsley electric car. 😉

delete the user and just sign in as guest, remove app from phone it's all but usless and wants subscription and money for anything even remotely useful. Plus you have to login every time with a stupid 4 pin code just don't need the hassle so they can track and report you if you go to fast etc. it's all about control the only thing worth having is the honk if you lose your car and the tracking if it's stolen , which in fairness if someone can steal your car they will likely know how to deactivate it's location so all in all it's worthless.

Hi, I will check the brake lights but would be big coincidence if that failed while I was cleaning throttle body :-) though murphys law does love coincidences. I have ordered a cable as it looks like for a 2004 the VCDS lite might work to reset it or at least read the codes and see what is going on. Just don't know if I should order a new throttle body just in case or not. Will have to be an order as nobody carries them locally. Thanks, DDW

The pACC has been deactivated. The system not only affects the speed, but also the lighting, etc. Normally, if pACC has been deselected in the menu, it should have the same effect.

Hi, Yeah so in final i changed piston rings ,honed block , timing belt + gearbox clutch after 1k km i changed oil + filter , now per 7k km i have added 0.5l 5w30 Oil

Instead of additives maybe just try using HVO. EvoUltra from a Gulf filling station if you are near one or passing near one.

Beware - some of the above info is incorrect... all Mk2 Scouts and 4x4's had DPF's, even older PD140 ones, as they were fitted with the BMM 8v engine and not the 16v one without DPF fitted to other variants.

Personally I'd avoid Halfrauds. I had a dipped headlight bulb fitted by them. The car failed the MoT a few days later because the "expert" forced the bulb in upside down.

VCDS is vw group diagnostic software which you can buy from Rosstech. Someone on here may have it near you and could help recalibrate it for you. If not it will need to be done at a vw/skoda garage or specialist unless your local garage has access to vcds or alternatively OBDeleven. On another thought are your brake lights working. A failed brake light switch can cause EML and limp mode? Alasdair

I will try to find out. I don't know him, he is a friend of someone I know and the topic came out during a chat, then my friend took me to see him. He did say its difficult to find if not using ODIS. I'll let you know once I will get in touch with him. Its pretty much disabling GPS to communicate with A5 camera. Then camera is relying on what it physically sees.

Very interesting. Can your friend release what he has done on your car by any chance? I just had a look through a coding and adaptation scan of my SIII and I cannot find the predictive route data in STG 4B. I only have predictive AFS as a selectable setting in the adaptations.

@Evolution13 Yes, I'm aware of that, applicable to new models, as it states in the article you posted, and the start date is 1st Jan 2027. However, the links I posted are recalls on already sold cars in use; they also mention software updates to lower the windows in the event of a crash automatically and stickers being applied, presumably to make the body-coloured flush door handles more visible to responders, which suggests that it is being claimed that they are not obvious enough to rescuers trying to open doors from the outside. It is not clear whether this recall is an interim measure while they design a retrofit replacement mechanical door handle. The article you posted also says that "previously approved models have until January 1, 2029, to update the door designs.

I know the recall above is Tesla specific but… flush door handles aren’t EV specific, so I don’t see how this relates to “the truth about EVs”. I also have to go back again to the fire blanket and point out you are moving the goalposts again, a long term tactic used by every conspiracy theorist for centuries - “EVs are serious fire hazard” “They don’t combust anymore frequently than ICE cars which are also a serious fire hazard” “That’s different, EVs are worse when they do combust” “That’s fair, but heres a product being developed we can use to potentially help counter the risk when they do combust” “Ahh but that’s only been shown in ideal circumstances so that doesn’t count and there’s no procedure in place for in the real world” “But it’s just a concept demonstration, of course it’s ideal, like any other concept demonstration” “Still different because reasons, they claim they don’t need to be serviced” Etc etc Everything has issues that don’t come to light until available and in use en masse. Hi and thanks for reply! I have tried several different reset options around battery disconnect and then key on for 30 seconds and off for 30 seconds (also longer periods and also letting it idle) but it seems pretty stuck in the EPC limp mode. Interestingly one time when I was trying reset it seemed to be working and revving normally etc but immediately when I took foot off brake it freaked out and went back into limp mode which seemed very weird and should be unrelated. I have verified ok hoses connected and nothing else was disturbed in process. I am wondering if I messed up the insides opening it manually to clean (pushing valve open) How is the VCDS set? I assume that needs to be at a shop? Thanks, DDW

Think it may need re calibrating using vcds etc but did read on another forum you could try turning on ignition but dont start car or touch any pedals. Leave for 3mins exactly. Turn off and wait for 10-15secs and start car. Leave idling for a few mins. If the above doesnt work try disconnecting battery for 30mins and reconnect. Turn on ignition without starting car for 1 min then start car and leave to idle for 10 mins. Hope it helps Alasdair

New regulations were coming in anyway that Vehicles had to have manual door handles. Discussed on here previously.

Not sure on the MK3 but if the bolts go through the wheel bearing hub from front the may protrude on the inside. If so make sure the exposed threads of bolts are clean. Just done my daughters volvo front bearing and used a wire brush on drill to clean up exposed threads. If you try and remove bolts with corrosion/dirt on exposed threads they can seize/break or damage hub carrier. Alasdair

Am late to this but my opinion would be the PD140 Scout I've had a PD140 Octavia Estate (non scout) and I currently have a facelift mk3 Octavia Scout 184/dsg. For what you mention (forestry work) I'd avoid the DPF/complicated EGR and DSG where possible. The PD140 is easier to remove/block clean the EGR, you've no issues with the DPF blocking and personally if it was me I'd be less precious about the mk2 octavia in the forest, I can't comment on the capability of the mk2 scout but we did tow a caravan and horse box and in fields it was quite good and find the mk3 scout very capable (when moving, getting going isn't as good as expected due to the gearbox being so snappy). My PD140 was slightly modified but also used for towing, apart from a turbo issue around 85k miles it was faultless. I like the 'auto' driving from the DSG but find it when trying to manouver slowly a bit on/off so lacks the clutch control which isn't such a good thing on lose/muddy/gravel tracks (ask me how I know!!) I currently live in the Peak District and all our cars have had to tow caravans/horse boxes in fields but we're currently in the process of moving to Dumfries & Galloway to a smallholding hence choosing a Scout, no surfaced entrance to our property and quite remote so the ground clearance/haldex will be getting tested properly soon
