  3. Nope. No good. Hasn’t got a telly….

  5. Thank you DerekU, I have seen lots online with the same problem but not always the same year, but Fabia mk 1, 2,3's. I have had advice from the CAB and used it to send a letter outlining the problem and detail about the 'incidents'. I paid £13k for the car and I'm not going to keep it with the fault. I've had the car for 4 months! Under the consumer rights 2015, which are there to protect their rights, and do state that if a repair can not be done then you are entitled to a replacement. If the dealer will not then I will take it back to CAB to level 3. I am loathe to use the ombudsman just yet as you have accept the result, that's it the end. But if all else fails I will use it. Yes I understand that they are saying that it can't be fixed, but I think they could do it just don't want to, a common behaviour it appears. The car has been to the Skoda dealership service centre the 1st time and I assume EMG are using this time.

At the moment Skoda appears to be holding it's own in the market place. Unfortunately the VAG group as a whole has financial problems looming, which will lead to plant closures and lay offs. I did read recently that VAG might drop the Seat brand and continue with the Cupra brand only. All of Europe's car manufacturers are going to come under more pressure from Chinese imports and I guess they will all be doing what VW are doing. This week I read that Volvo will lay off 2500 people over the next two years. https://www.reuters.com/world/china/volvo-cars-swings-third-quarter-loss-plans-job-cuts-2026-10-23/

Skoda reported stronger financial result earlier this year, record EV deliveries and 2nd Place best selling car brand in Europe. Great success and maybe not much passed onto the workers behind that success. Record year after record year. Maybe just the After Sales and correcting snagging faults promptly needs addressing.
  9. MOT test today. Pleased to see a relatively minor fail followed by immediate pass. Interestingly the only fails it has ever had is this one and one 5 years ago for exactly the same thing!
  10. MOT day today. Pleased to see a simple fail and immediate pass following adjustment of the headlight aim. This was with the LED bulbs fitted.
  11. Yes it is neat. Good tip. I believe the 12v socket in the boot is permanent live, so I may relocate it to tap into that wiring then it is out of the engine bay and tucked out of the way. But will leave it directly on the battery for now

  13. If it has a dc motor, it is probable that the brushes have worn down, especially as it 25years old.
  14. @Sklinda This link is to the earlier forum topic that discussed your Fabia's problem. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/541431-any-luck-with-intermittent-limp-mode-fault/#comment-6031427 and this link is to the Motor Ombudsman website's guidance on the 2015 Consumer Rights Act. https://www.themotorombudsman.org/knowledge/what-is-the-consumer-rights-act/ You seem to be under the impression that the type of fault your car is experiencing - sudden loss of power and (as I understand it) the fault clearing if the car's ignition is switched off and the vehicle restarted - is commonplace with Skoda Fabia Mk4 cars and that Skoda is well aware of this. Many thousand's of Fabia Mk4 cars will have been sold and - while there's little doubt that some of these may have gone into 'limp-mode' - there's nothing to suggest that this is a known and widespread problem with Fabia Mk4 models. Most (all?) modern cars have a built-in limp-mode capability - it's a protective anti-damage feature. But there is no single reason for them doing this, nor any single well-publicised fix. In the earlier topic @bazz2004 referred to the issue he had with his 2023 Fabia. But his car is older than yours, has a different engine and, when the problem occurred, fault codes were found (which you were told was not the case with your Fabia). Your car is still within the Skoda UK 3-year warranty period and any free-of-charge repair work within the terms and conditions of that warranty will need to be carried out by a Skoda dealership. @bazz2004 said that his car's problem was finally addressed successfully by installing a necessary software update, but, as you bought your car from a non-Skoda dealership and the fault is being investigated by them, if a Skoda software update were required, it's unlikely that 'your' dealership could install this. If there are indeed no recorded fault codes and your car is currently running perfectly, it's going to be extremely difficult for your dealership to accurately diagnose why it has suddenly lost power temporarily on three occasions. If your dealership cannot assure you that they found the cause of the power-losses and are confident that they have cured the fault, you may want to try insisting that they take the car to a Skoda dealership and ask that dealership to investigate further. Otherwise, you may have to fall back on the Consumer Rights Act. (If you think you may have to go legally head-to-head with your dealership, you should keep a record of discussions with the dealership and email them about what's been said and done.)
  15. For Felicia there is also the BUGIAD BSP21805.
  16. The garage was unable to find the part at their usual factors. The stretch boot lasted over a year and under 2 it’s started to crack on one end and grease was leaking out at the last MOT In Aug/Sep. I have hardly done 2k in it since the boot swap on the MOT ramp.
  17. Hi, I am about to buy one of these from the Aliexpress website, but it says “no wiring connection” needed. Yet pics on your one show that there is a cable that needs connecting? The pics on the Aliexpress also show a cable block. Will it be safe to buy one? Hope you can help? Jim.

  19. Personal opinion, the hard thermoplastic ones are just crap, I've had no end of issues with them popping off the joint. I tend to just use a no-name stretchy rubber ones from the local parts factor. If you're taking it to a garage, why not let them order the part they're happy with using?

  21. @Cairus and @pab567 are the go to for MIB help. The MIB that @pab567 configured for me is native MIB2.5 so I don’t think it has M.I.B on it anyway so not worth trying!
  22. For all the cost of the slave worth doing as well. Sons mk1 Fabia clutch went and slave was like yours external. When I did the clutch I replaced it(I was going to anyway) No external leaks but the slave actuator inside bell housing rubber gator had split and there was a slight leak starting. Even though its external it can leak internally and you wont notice. If your doing it yourself the master and slave usually come with two seals. You only need one. On his Fabia its the tophat one not the oring. They have to be pushed firmly onto end of pipe until they click into place Alasdair
  23. 100% agree - it's so so so daunting doing anything M.I.B!! One wrong press n the unit could b potentially bricked!! I was trying to figure out how to update FEC codes for a friend when I came across this. This skin image mod was a easy to do. Meanwhile I haven't had any success with the FEC codes!! Grrrr
  24. I kept challenging AI this week even though it put me in a good place and because I contacted Febi/Bilstein about one of their kits on Ebay I now have a GSF part 853002 made by GSP which is a full boot kit. Lets see how I get on as I should have everything to hand for the mechanic for next week if I need a boot kit or boot kit and CV joint
  25. There are many cases of members here not having Build Stickers on their vehicles in the past few years and asking the same as the OP.
  26. Best not mess, Have Skoda UK arrange a Man / Woman in van to visit the car at your pleasure to reset the Service Indicator. If they had to do such things more often they would be more careful about having Franchised Dealerships and the produdts they import Fit For Purpose. There should be All The Gear and more than ideas available at Aproved Repairers / Service Centres.
  27. I saw this on GitHub and have to say I do like it. But I like working MIB more so I’m not taking the risk!
  28. Very nice. Not sure! It says in the description: “electric auxiliary air heater” I assume it’s additional heat for the cabin on cold days.
  29. I did some "incredible bashing" earlier today, changing the skin on Gandalf's infotainment screen. It's nothing life changing. Just changes look of the Menu items by changing the logos. I like the new look. More info here - SKG13 Skoda MIB2.5 Image Mod.
  30. If yours has rear passenger airbags or rear seat tensioners you may have caught/pulled wiring with seats down. Hopefully the scanner will pinpoint which airbag is at fault. Once the light is on it will need to be reset via vcds etc. Alasdair
