Been off here for a while.. but thought I'd show you my sel 4x4 that I've recently updated. Had plastic bumpers painted and colour matched with the body, dechromed the entire car to gloss black. Black badges, black rear bumper protector and black wheel caps all from superskoda. Light tint to fron lights and dark tint to rear. Side steps being fitted Monday
  2. I’ve not received the exhaust tips yet but I’ve done the diffuser, tinted reflectors and black badging also 15mm eibach spacers which have honestly transformed the steering feel. The Superb feels like a big cruise ship without stabilisers, but after adding a bit of stance it feels much more solid and confident I also chose some completely out-there red carbon DSG paddles, they feel amazing and work very well. I know they’re bright but I needed something colourful in there... 🙄 Added some photos 👍

when for a long drive the first time in a long time had a few pic as well😎
  4. Excuse the fault light, the rear xenon level sensor is snapped so that needs sorting and the fault clearing, also need to redo all the front light channels as half the lights don’t work but BCM swap is complete and we have ambient lighting with 30 colours and key personalisation. Got the door cards with light strips ready (the fourth one is being delivered tomorrow), just waiting on wiring supplies to get these done. Also got RGB footwell lighting on order as this is a 084CG BCM with support for that.
  5. Crankshaft bolt done without any problems using the above counter hold tool and 3/4" drive T-bar. Thanks for the help with the torque settings.
  6. First pics of my new car, collected yesterday. Love it! 🙂
  7. Radiator fans are the ones being discussed.
  8. Personally not familiar with this bit of the display at all. I mostly have mine on oil temp. Once it's at 80, off we go
  9. Thank goodness, a mpg below 20. That’s more like it. 😜
  10. On Monday morning, whilst being distracted by a cyclist travelling the wrong way on a cycle lane on my OS, I clipped the OSR alloy on the end of the dividing kerb. I was gutted, as all the alloys were in perfect condition and during 40 years of driving, I’d never kerbed a wheel before. I contacted a local mobile alloy wheel refurber, who came over yesterday morning and he did a fantastic job in removing the damage. £65 well spent. Pics before and after.
  11. Revo stage 1 was done couple of years ago now, and lockdown means I need a project so thought I’d make my Superb a bit more fun. The other day I fitted the R600 intake with foam filter option. I wasn’t expecting much but it sounds meatier and whilst I’m not too sure about power it certainly feels smoother at least, especially whilst going through the gears which feels much much better to drive. As you know the 220 comes with terribly designed bent tipped hidden exhausts for no apparent reason, but since the intake upgrade the car is producing some nice muted DSG farts which aren’t loud or stupid...but the exhausts are hidden so it’s all wrong in my head lol So I’ve also ordered the Rieger rear skirt in gloss black, bolts and washers, 2 exhaust connectors (similar to the VAG ones that clamp the Superb exhaust together between cat and mid-silencer) and a couple of black oval Scirrocco R style exhaust tips. My plan is to get rid of the bent down tips and fit the exhaust tips, neatly tucked into the Rieger skirt, not hanging down or sticking out. I saw the exhausts thread that someone had lowered their back boxes by an inch or 2 with longer bolts, then fitted tips. It’s a really simple idea and once I know it all works for the 220 I will post all the parts I used, measurements and everything. For now I’ve just ordered everything I need, but the 2 main components are pictured....let me know what you think
  12. Our 272 Sportline in Business Grey is just over 12mo old. Think it's on around 12k, with very few of those on the motorway. We had a paint protection detail done literally the day we collected the car, with a ceramic coating. I washed it a couple of weeks ago and used some Megs Liquid Hybrid Ceramic on it which I'd just bought. I noticed that on the bonnet there appear to be a few little pock marks - not like normal stone chips though. These are tiny (1-2mm) and look slightly spider-y - small centre with feathering out from there. It's really hard to describe and impossible to photograph. With a normal chip you tend to see a "chunk" of the paint go, but these are nothing like. I'd say something to the garage when it goes in for its first service in 2 weeks, but I'm not convinced the respponse would be anything other than "that's wear and tear I'm afraid". Which it may well be, and I'd accept that - it's just the fact that the pock marks are so unusual that has me wondering whether they really are from stones or whether there's some sort of paint defect.

OK. From your answers I understood that you had a fully working dashboard (with a tachometer). At some point, the tachometer and the fuel gauge stopped working. So you took another PCB from another Felicia and you saw that the tachometer is still not working. Also the fuel gauge. Please confirm if so far I fully understood correctly the situation.
  14. Damn you are going all out ! 👌 Can the door ambient lighting be fitted without the dash by coding and replacement door panels? I've a mib2.5 with 9.2" screen retrofitted to my 2014 vrs
  15. We are not worthy. I've managed a f&r dashcam and (with assistance from yourself) a reversing camera...
  16. I bought a bleeder kit for the bike and they are worth it
  17. Just been looking at buying a brake bleeder. You can buy them from £40 for a decent one and that would pay for itself after one change. Plus you can change the fluid yourself without having anyone pump the pedal for you.
  18. Probably not a worthwhile exercise as there is already such a device on the back of your engine block. Item 19 here: https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2011-697/1/103-103010/ Oil mist goes into the big hole by o-ring 17, gets centrifuged inside, oil drips out of the liquid outlet by o-ring 18, back into the sump. The de-misted vapour comes out via hose 28 to the inlet manifold just under the throttle body. A PCV diaphragm valve controls the flow rate so there isn't excessive flow at light throttle operation or idle. Items 28 and 29 here supply a little fresh air into the system to help flush through any flammable vapours https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2011-697/1/103-103045/

Why did you change the motherboard for gauges? Was it because you had a clock instead of RPM meter? Or was it because the RPM meter was faulty?
  20. The old o-ring did come out with the old filter, right? There's a SNAFU on these where the old o-ring gets left behind, and soon afterwards there are low oil pressure warnings and general panic.
  21. No green mould per-se on mine as it's in the garage but it must've got a bit damp in there over winter as there was some of that white fluffy damp mould stuff in a few places. TBH I've left mine SORN'd since November for the moment as we were initially in Lockdown when the weather was good, I'm still working from home so no need to travel and recently it's been chucking it down. It did start first time when I tried it though...
  22. Fair enough. I use it to initiate engine braking as much as to drop a gear or to upshift quicker... but even so, it was standard on my mid-spec 2008 Seat Leon so I'd expect it to just be a given these days!

So I finally got the car back this weeks. 4 1/2 months after it was unloaded to Skoda, the dealership did spend 8 weeks closed due to Covid-19. Skoda paid 90% of the engine repair and I had the remaining items of the next service done. In the end got new pistons & turbo and all the valves we cleaned and recut with new seals. Its nice to have it back compared to the 1.5 Estate i had.
  24. I've just purchased a pre-reg 20 plate Karoq Sportline 2.0 TSI 190 4x4 DSG. I've part ex'd my Superb Sportline 280 4x4 DSG after owning a couple of years (great car, but had to do sell as the lower down seating position hurts my back). Before the Superb, I owned a Yeti 170 TDI 4x4 manual (I remapped for fuel economy so was probably more like 200bhp) for over 100K miles , which was as yet, the best car I've owned. I am looking forward to getting the Karoq and seeing how the 190 TSI and DSG work for me.. The Yeti was great fun to drive - the Superb less so (it felt it's size!), so fingers crossed this gives an entertaining drive. Picking it up next week..
  25. My local dealership contacted me today after numerous calls not returned , i have got to take the car back in so they can measure the thickness of the paint on the wheels WTF what has that got to do with the lacquer blistering and in any case the part that has blistered is the machined face bit , considering the car has only done just over 9000 miles and just over a year old i think i have a valid claim , i think they are just dragging their heels over replacing them if they dont i will take the case up with the website resolver.
  26. Nice one - was going to say easy to fix the headlight aim and ask whether he was using the correct criteria... Result. Just need Covid-19 to pack in and the rain to stop now so it can be used
  27. I got the different gearbox purely as at the time I needed a replacement, people were asking rediculous money for Octavia EHA boxes, £350 - £400 seemed to be the going rate. After a bit of research, I found the EVS box available for a much more reasonable £150 and as the ratios were only slightly different, I thought that was a decent option. Ratios between the two boxes EHA EVS 1st 3.300 3.300 2nd 1.944 1.944 3rd 1.308 1.308 4th 1.034 1.029 5th 0.838 0.837 Final Drive 3.647 3.684 So, as you can see, the difference is relatively small and in practice it results in about 200 rpm less but that's enough to see consistant mid 40's for mpg on steady motorway runs. When I was reseaching boxes, I found a really handy table to help me compare the different gear sets. https://workshop-manuals.com/audi/a3_mk1/power_transmission/5-speed_manual_gearbox_02j/technical_data/gearbox_identification/code_letters_allocation_transmission_ratios_capacities/
  28. Just being my usual. In Gods we trust and with VW Group ask questions because honesty is not their policy. I am sure Skoda would not. They were not the ones with Implausible / irregular C02 g/km figures for tests on early Euro 6 petrol and diesels. Eventually it came out only to be some vehicles from VW, Audi and SEAT that had to be bought back, withdrawn from sale and have revised figures. http://autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/vw-emissions-scandal-nine-vw-vehicles-have-false-co2-ratings http://www.which.co.uk/news/2018/02/audi-emissions-recall-uk-cars-affected They knew and know how to cheat emissions testing, so they know which are the good engines to use when emissions are not so strict in various world regions.
  29. https://wroom.ru/news/11075 Looks like the Russian market is getting this drivetrain too, however I doubt the Australian-delivered Karoq will be manufactured there. Skoda's Nizhny Novgorod plant does CKD cars for their own market, and the Bratislava plant specialists in the assembly of MKD cars, until those land in Australia and can have their VIN checked, I reckon it'll be assembled at Mladá Boleslav or Kvasinky alongside the other Aussie cars.

What is "psb" ? Maybe you should tell us what you want to do.
  31. I'd be interested to read a review of it. Luckily here in NZ we get the Euro drivetrains, so for Karoq the 1.0 TSI manual (apparently this is just so they can say "FROM £18,000"), 1.5 TSI DQ200 and 2.0 TSI 4x4 DQ381. The 150PS TDI got discontinued for NZ.

Superb has officially 66 litre tank and over 4,878 miles driven has averaged 39.07mpg. Last 3 tanks 557 miles on 62.45 litres, 602 miles on 65.94 litres and 626 miles (best so far) on 67.51 litres. Current tank suggesting around 640 mile range. Shell V-Power Nitro+ has cost per tank £83, £85 and £85 last 3 fills.
  33. 91, 95, 98 RON, and just regular diesel, though they all have additives so maybe you'd call that premium. We follow Euro 6 fuel standards, so 10ppm sulfur in both diesel and petrol. Australia haven't been getting cars with petrol particulate filters until now, as while their diesel is 10ppm sulfur, regular gas has 150ppm sulfur content and 50ppm for premium. The Superb Scout is the first car to be sold there with a petrol particulate filter, and owners must be using premium gas or there will be no assistance from Skoda Australia if they have issues with the filter.
  34. Skoda New Zealand have good prices for the spec you get - my Kodiaq RS would have a retail price of £53k in the UK while mine came to around £38k. We used to have variable servicing with a 3 year warranty but now it's a fixed 15000km/1yr service regime with a 5 year warranty. All Skodas in China are built for the Chinese market by SAIC-Skoda, and aren't exported anywhere as far as I'm aware. Even Skoda Taiwan get European built cars. Australia abide by their own standards - the ADR (Australian Design Rules). The current emissions standard there is the ADR 79/04 which is based on Euro 5 standards. In New Zealand we follow ADR 79/04, Euro 5, Japan 09 (big grey market for Jap imports here) or US 2007. For cars there are other ADR's which results in cars coming here sooner as the homologation rules are less stringent here. There's no local development done in NZ, ECU mapping is no different to what Europe get.
  35. All sounds normal. Stone cold, it'll idle 1200-1400 rpm for the first minute or so (apparently some sort of calibration process, or maybe it's trying to expedite oil distribution). Then, or if started hot, it'll settle to 900-1000 rpm. (VW ECUs have done this 'cold high initial idle' thing for years, and in my experience they tend to do it more in warm weather. Years ago I had an Ibiza that, if it had been left in the sun all day, I could get up to 35 mph with no gas pedal, just gear shifting.)

Apart from the midrange poke with 700nm I do wonder who is going to buy the diesel S4 as the owner above of the petrol S4 above points out so clearly. He can get 36mpg from his petrol car on a run and 39mpg in the diesel but with only 347PS the diesel should do better as the 658 miles he did in the week he had the car it only averaged 37.1mpg giving a range when full of only 455 miles. My 363PS petrol Superb is averaging 600 miles per tank for comparison and the basic S4 Avant now costs £49,400 and with all the options on the Press car supplied it was close to £60,000.

  38. That glossifier will also keep it from fading if U can get your hands on a tin. Good job by the way
  39. It may depend on the market. I see that Shahoff is in Eire. To return to the original theme of my thread, the 190 TDI is only available with the DSG transmission, here in Britain.
  40. I think your badge Ads230 looks the best on white anyway. I'lll keep an eye out for a discount on superskoda.
  41. At the beginning i thought that this project would be fine with a catted downpipe and OEM cat back. Then i got that central resonator is very restrictive. It retains heat, that is not good for turbo, and apart from this it causes high backpressure. So the way to go would be a resonator delete, but you probably already know that for me it's no go. So the aftermarket resonator i found (a muffler to be precise) is bigger than stock resonator, like someone already found out, and at this point the only way to go would be create a complete custom cat back to fit in everything in the right place. So I did. In this configuration now I have 3'' Milltek catted downpipe, 5x9x15'' vibrant performance muffler used as resonator (with 3'' straight through pipe) and 2,5'' pipes to OEM back mufflers. Now backpressure and heat problems are solved, and I feel the car maybe something faster. But maybe it's only my impression, so I will dyno the car again and see. As for the sound and noise I am not disappointed at all: the sound is slightly better than before, and it’s definitely not noisy. Inside it sounds the same as with OEM resonator, cruising at low revs you can barely hear the engine. Outside I can hear the difference. Not big difference, but you can clearly hear there's something different under the hood. I have to thank Aaron from Vibrant Performance who has had the patience to explain and show me the best product for my needs. Just to know, the muffler I installed is part #1127 “Streetpower Oval Muffler”. This was the stock catback: This is the custom catback installed: Here is the Vibrant Performance #1127 that barely fitted in Complete exhaust
  42. Yeah - leg and knee room was never great and the wheel always felt jammed up against your chest but they were good fun (we used to fight over the keys to the 90 because it was great for doing drifts in the loose stuff on site 😉

You can tell from the light switch if the headlights are on or off.
  44. Car looks very good! Just lower it for 30mm and it will look and handle even better. Also was inspire by your photos and after chiptune slightly modified intake. K&N panel filer I already had from new

Glad to hear you enjoy our beautiful country as much as I do. We traced our family roots back to Applecross and my family ran a fishing trawler there after moving from Harris due to hard times, My great great grandmothers sewing machine is exhibited in the Applecross museum. Lochgilphead is lovely, I can be there in about an hour and forty five minutes from where I live and I have friends who stay in the neighbouring little fishing town of Tarbet. I completed the whole coastal route of Scotland last year, Cant keep me away from the scenery.
  46. My old vRS was Black Magic, & it never looked clean. The Silver barge hides the dirt, but there's more of it to wash....... I still hanker for a 4WD to replace the old girl (car, not wife....) but a Superb 3 or an Arteon just won't fit in my garage. The Golf only just fits through the door, all these newer cars are wider over the door mirrors than the Mk 2 Superbs & Octavias.
  47. Another Small Job Ticked off the list done Today, Fitted a New Pyramid Hugger in Gloss Black. Did a bit of Research into what was available for the Gen 2 and although most of the Huggers incorporated a Chain Guard not many offered much in the way of Protection especially down in the Belly Pan/Rectifier Area. Anyway the Pyramid looked like the One to go for, I am on my Holidays so Drove from Sheffield to Gainsborough where Pyramid are based and collected One this Morning also got a 10% Discount too so Happy Days. Very happy with the Quality, No Clearance issues and fitted spot on. Love the Look of it too...

Now that the Kodiaq facelift seems to have been pushed back from this summer to early 2021, the Karoq might have been pushed back to 2022? But as recent facelifted VAG cars have been removing physical buttons in favour of unergonomic touchscreens, I'm buying a Karoq while I can still get a car that I believe to be a better designed car for a driver (as opposed to a phone user!) Chris
