  1. For those wondering - yes, u can fit a full size spare in a Superb. A small trim off the plastic edging, and it fits very easily 👍🏽 Easy to remove and put the tyre in too. Boot carpet sits about 3 cm higher, but u don't notice it. Top pic shows the lip trimmed off. Comparison below..... Existing plastic lock nut in place. Tyre Foam kit in place.... A real spare now!!

My car didn’t come with wireless charging so just tried an IKEA wireless charging plate. It fits perfectly, just needs a very short usb-c to usb-c lead to tidy it up.
  3. Well she's finally plated and my god what a leap it is from my MK 3 RS in terms of technology, which touch wood has been absolutely flawless even though it's only day one of ownership. The ambient lighting, kessy, wireless Android Auto, digital cockpit, and the voodoo that is ACC are things I could never do without now in a car.

If you use a sensible sized brush and have not enlisted a 5 year old to do the painting you should be able to paint the bit inbetween the caliper no bother.
  5. A bit more to it than that. If the F.P. airbag is disabled, one of the overhead warning lights stays on all the time and the meaning of the light is not obvious. If the F.P. airbag is enabled, two warning lights come on for about 30 seconds and then both go off. Actually, it's more complicated than that. The best thing to do is to open the F.P. door wide and check the disable switch on the A pillar. Here the OFF/ON position is clear. You need the skeleton key in the key fob to operate the switch. I hope this is not a common problem.

Not everyone is greedy is why. 'People' did not have to have VW's voluntary emissions fix carried out and the market was good for ones that did not have 'The fix'. If you owned the car the choice was yours to not have it touched by Dealerships. As with any 'Software Updates', if you do not want them then make it clear when the cars is being serviced that they do not do them. that is if the car is yours.
  7. f'k you google getting my hopes up.... a)its sold b) the ad is 5 yrs old wouldve been a reasonable bargain!
  8. Hello Everyone, I hope this may prove useful to some of you. Vehicle - Skoda Octavia 1.4TSI DSG. Nov 2013. MDSH. 52000 miles. CHPA engine. Fault - EPC warning light and or engine management light(s) coming on almost at random with resulting loss of power, incl. limp mode. Infuriating! - Fault would not occur if the Stop/Start was permanently switched off. - It was possible (on many occasions) to create fault if vehicle brought to a halt with warm engine, moved gear lever into neutral. Stop/start switched off engine. Attempted to move off and stop/start would not restart vehicle. Warning lights would then show. Fault code - simple OBD reader "TURBOCHARGER/SUPERCHARGER BOOST CONTROL MODULE 'A' ". Generic fault code. On some occasions no fault recorded. Clear fault & vehicle would perform as normal until the next time. New 70AH AGM battery fitted, coded to vehicle. Full electrics check. Fault persisted. Actuator not seized, apparently working correctly. Wastegate moving freely. Main dealer - Diagnosed Fault Code P334B, Turbo wastegate actuator malfunction. Actuator only available with complete new turbo. Dealer recommended replacement of turbocharger - £1710 inc. VAT. Rationale appeared to be fault code and manufacturer's bulletin. - When I asked why the vehicle performed without fault whilst the stop/start was switched off, I was informed that I probably did not drive it fast enough for the turbo to cut in. Learn something every day! Independent also recommended new turbo. Turbo - Original item 04E 145 721B (Replacement turbo would be 04E 145 721F) Actuator - 04E 145 725S (Not available from main dealer as complete item or service kit). Made in Austria by MAHLE. Readily available from part suppliers within EU. Sourced genuine item, delivered within 8 days £125. Item value was below Customs threshold. Decision - Not to fit a new turbo, but to investigate condition of actuator, wastegate etc. Actuator - Removed actuator and found that the actuator rod was bent. This made it very difficult to remove from wastage arm. Please see image. - Negligible wear in wastegate bearings, wastegate arm. Wastegate arm to actuator connection is not bushed. - Wastegate moved freely. - Cleaned wastegate arm thoroughly and polished bearing surface. Greased with ceramic brake grease 1300C - Fitted new actuator. Greased before assembly. (Plent of grease on wastegate arm prevents circlip flying off during dismantling/reassembly) - Actuator appeared to be plug & play. No requirement to initialise. - Vehicle started immediately. - No faults recorded since. - Stop/start working correctly. It does seem that the wastegate to actuator arm needs to be kept clean and regularly lubricated. Out of interest I dismantled the old actuator. Substantial man-made gear drive system. No obvious wear. Motor functions. Corrected arm alignment and no doubt it would function if refitted to the vehicle. Images refer. I am most grateful to my great friend Matthew, who runs M&H Autos, Stert Valley Farm, Crookwood, Potterne. Wiltshire for his help and advice. From the outset we were convinced that the vehicle did not require a new turbocharger and thankfully this has proven to be so. Good luck!
  9. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to stay that colour for long! It must be all the off roading and green laning that those cars do?
  10. i went East from The Cross today. and made a trail selection mistake to get down from the top of Long Hill on the East side.... ended up having to follow the fence line of a load of sheep fields full of ickle new lambs, so could cross them, id have spooked way too many of them, so ended up misplaced, half way down the hill heading the long way West. ended up at a forest block i can see from my house, with no way through had to go around it. ended up ducking turned on ( as i found out..) electric fences and walking my bike politely across the front yard of someones newly built house tothe road... dirty. in the plus side though... from the valley between the cross up to long hill summit - theres only been 49 logged attempts, but i dont care the average gradient is also misleading.. its pretty flat for some it along the top, but its about 20% for the bulk of the climb, had to push a chunk of it, losing traction on the gravel and stones.

In 45 years of owning cars I've never had one where the fuel gauge was linear, they've all dropped much more slowly in the first third/half than the rest.
  12. Sorry to dredge up this topic, but I just wanted to say that I got my AAwireless unit this week, and all is working well (with an MIB2 Columbus). There wasn't any customs duties or VAT to pay - the value was declared as £21. I got a shipping notification and It arrived 2 days later via Royal Mail tracked 48, even though the tracking never updated...
  13. I for one would never know there was an update unless people like @MartiniB posted about it 😂
  14. Ha! I'd hate for this thread to get hijacked by gout sufferers, because there are plenty of us on this forum (I'll bet). But, yes, gout: thank the NHS they have pills for that, because it's excruciating (I know). And, thanks to the DSG (my first automatic) I will never again experience the nuisance that is a manual transmission in a 20-mile motorway jam.

  16. So Pixu gave you 9 years of faithful and reliable service and you are just going to let anyone who walks off the street buy her? How can you sleep at night? (Probably very well cuddled up to the keys of your new Mercedes).
  17. Its here! Every now and again days go just how you want them to, Worked early this morning and halfway through my shift got the call to say the Bike was ready for delivery. I had been home 20 Mins and the Van pulled up outside Just want to say that Jordan Bikes who I have been dealing with now for a number of Years have really gone above and beyond, In addition to the Major Service they have done on the Bike and removing the Alarm they have also fitted a Brand New Chain & Sprockets free of charge as their Technician said there was a couple of tight links and they wanted it right for me so replaced the lot. Superb! As always, The bike was put straight onto the Ramp in the Garage and the deep cleaning commenced. Spent around 5 Hours this Afternoon on the Bike and its not yet finished. Not found anything unexpected on the Bike, It does have the odd age related mark but its 15 Years old so this is no surprise. It is already looking much better after a bit of TLC. So far I have... : Removed the Lower Fairings ready for deep cleaning tomorrow. : Removed the Rear Hugger & Chain Guard, All Degreased, Cleaned and refitted. : Rear Swingarm area all Degreased. : Front Engine Area & Exhaust Cleaned, ACF-50 Applied. : LHS Rear Set removed, Full degreased, New Genuine Footpeg fitted as old item was damaged slightly. : Replaced RHS R&G Frame Bobbin, It was slightly scuffed from the previous owner getting the Bike down the side of his house. Did its job and protected the Fairing. : Fitted some R&G Paddock Stand Bobbins, Found these in my toolbox. : Replaced x 5 of the M6 Fairing Panel Push Clips. Its coming on, Will be doing some more on the bike over the coming days. Some pics of todays efforts...
  18. Well on the day of her 17th birthday my daughter picked up her present. She is VERY happy and so am I. It drives like a dream, very impressed with it, quiet and comfy even it motorway speeds.
  19. Sounds fine. I have Meyle top mounts on mine too. There are two parts to the top mounts - the bearing and the rubber mount. Item 2 and item 4 in the diagram.
  20. Cheers Lee, I've had a look at the link you posted and I think it's the third one for sports suspension. It'd be the same as the Fabia Vrs which I'd of thought would be the same part no

Under the 'Consumer Rights Act 2015' goods must be sold as 'fit for purpose' and last a reasonable time irrespective of any warranties given. Surely if you bought them knowing what car they were going to be fitted to they are legally obliged to give you a replacement/refund?
  24. Nice! For those without an Ikea nearby, I got one of these from Amazon along with a short USB-C to Micro USB cable - works a treat with my iPhoneXR. Very handy as CarPlay for both navigation (Apple Maps or Waze) and Spotify simultaneously seems to hammer the phone battery on a long run.
  25. I have a SanDisk Ultra 200 GB microSDXC Memory Card and have had no issues with it
  26. Something else.
  27. Bump stops are usually built into the shock absorber on front struts, they're separate on the back, the dust covers were torn to pieces on my original struts, no bump stops underneath them, I bought new dust covers for my Bilsteins when I built them up prior to fitting but didn't need separate bump stops.
  28. Been a busy day at Sasha Towers, had @CaptainPukein for Travel Assist pack retrofit (car had TSR only so I have added HBA, Lane Assist and Traffic Jam Assist) as well as my usual glut of extra coding and then rounded the day off by fitting my air intake blank plate and cut the blanked off section to open it up like an aftermarket system which should give you about an extra 9 cfm of airflow and it gave me something to do for 30 mins 😆 An extra piece of coding I have been made aware of by @langers2k, on my Superb with the 2Q0 Lane Assist camera you can change the ferocity of the Lane Assist and set a little vibration in the steering wheel to nudge you and if you like Lane Assist it’s a cool feature. I can now add this to any 3GD 980 654 A5 camera. This is demonstrated on @varaderoguy’s lovely Scout on which I fitted the 4G LTE antenna, rear USB loom and OEM LED floor lights. For those who like to code at home, the Lane Assist fun is A5 Long Coding Byte 13 change to Hex 56 A5 Adaptations Warning Intensity: Lane Departure Warning - Selection over Menu. This is for MY18 and 19 cars only. All working perfectly 🙂
  29. I’m looking at replacing my 18” space saver factory spare with a full size vega 19” alloy (due to me kerbing the front left one twice when I first got the car) and have tried it in place to check it fitted. It’s a very tight fit (and may benefit from the mod shown in the original post) but definitely possible with a small raising of the floor carpet (20mm ish) and didn’t look out of place when covered with the carpet either. from memory the plastic stud for the wheel nut that secures the spare in place appears to be a push in fit to the existing bracket in the photos above (I almost tried to remove it while drilling a tapped grounding bolt there when installing my subwoofer amp) so if you can source the stud and nut I’d say it should fit.
  30. Correct, mine was factory supplied with a 16" spare tyre kit. I didn't retrofit it. This thread is showing that u can indeed fit a full size 19" wheel in there, as many before have said it won't fit. It's true if u don't trim the small lip bit.
  31. Amazing timing, I came here to look for such a post this morning only to see it was posted 4hr ago So, two questions: a) Mine came without a spare wheel set, (no scissor jack or spanner either), just the tire fix kit non-sense and the moulding cannot obviously accomodate a spare wheel: Also, when I remove the moulding, I don't see the plastic stud/screw that is used to secure the full size kit in place, is it part of the spare wheel kit and can it be mounted properly to that cut in the middle of the floor mine has?? b) In terms of the actual spare wheel, could I use one from my winter set if need be? And would I be able to continue my trip at a steady 120km/h? The overall diameter difference is less than 2mm (670.6mm vs 668.7mm) which to me sounds as it could have also been the result of unequal tire inflation between two identical wheels. I even took both wheels out and compared them in terms of circumference and you wouldn't be able to tell one was slightly larger than the other by naked eye or even buy the use of basic rulers that I employed for my comparison, they were looking that identical. Not sure if the AWD system would pick that up though or if the ESP could be potentially affected by even such a minor diameter difference. I could always pump the pressure up on the smaller wheel by a few PSI extra I reckon? I have quite a long roadtrip planned in the coming week and I am considering my options...

My guess would be an ABS sensor on its way out... Any fault codes in that system showing up?
  33. I think this is mainly to do with the shape of the fuel tank, also you tend to get a few litres up into the filler tube if brimming the tank, which will account for a few extra miles.
  34. Nope. As per the thread title, they are for the MIB1/2 HIGH only

Another 'improvement' that makes things worse then. Why is it that common sense is the last thing to be considered. The postcode system had got to be the easiest way of navigating. There's always Waze and Google maps I suppose.
  36. I’ll run you through the OEM fit next weekend when you come for the camera I still need to get one for mine as I sold the charge pad with the Octy.
  37. As always @JR RS delivers the good news for those inquisitive minds.

On what reader? If its a generic OBDII reader then it wont, you need something dealer level like VCDS to interrogate the fault codes in stored in the ABS, Haldex controller modules etc.
  39. Me too, it sounds like the boot floor is loose or the parcel shelf is loose. From the driver's seat it sounds like it comes from the rear left. I checked the rear left seat belt buckle and I don't think it's that. I don't think it's the boot lid either, it sounds like it comes from inside the boot. Mk4 hatchback.

The General Public including non car drivers are the ones that suffer from vehicles Emissions, and the value of used TDI's is pretty high and certainly not suffering from depreciation because of the Emissions Cheat VW Group had on vehicles. Maybe give a cash donation to the Heart & Lung type charities from the saving you had on low VED and good fuel consumption you got with your TDI's.
  41. As far as I know, with MIB2 and 2.5 - the clock will only display if u turn the infotainment unit off while the engine is running. Would b nice if it could b done to show the clock when u tick the option "switch screen off after 10 secs". Looked far n wide - no luck. Not sure how it's like with the newer MIB3 units, like U have.
  42. I've got one in Australia and also love it. 125000Km now. Only issue being a AC compressor. Not many 3.6l here. I did put in a rear camera a few years ago.
  43. Latest Updated Speedcams - May, 2021. My car has only just come back from a crash repair centre after two months of waiting so I've been unable to do any updates as I haven't had the ability to test them in a vehicle before posting them. So anyway, here's the latest update of my customised version of EUR Speedcams ( May, 2021). They consist of the full EUROPE speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Fixed Speedcams, Average Speedcams, Variable Speedcams and Redlight Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons, shown below, to match each of the categories. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to open the newly extracted folder and place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in your infotainment map menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Hope you all enjoy them! EUR Speedcams May, 2021.zip
  44. Does that come with gravy?
  45. This is mine white Octavia. Delivered in 2.2021.
  46. Do you have much snow in the winter. 🤣
  47. 2020 Velvet Red Superb iV Sportline Plus
  48. 1 point
Newbie Superb iV owner here of only two weeks.... After a Fabia vRS, three 170hp diesel Yetis (the last one with a Shark Performance remap) and a Citigo Monte Carlo it was time to change. I bought the Citigo as my yearning for mechanical sympathy meant my commute that went from 30 miles each way to 4.5 just wasn't an option for a big diesel so the Yeti was retained for the longer journeys. I had thought of leasing an Enyaq and the figures just about worked (many, many spreadsheets of justification) but the final straw was the HM Gov changes with the EV grant so it was back to my pre-Enyaq thinking of a Superb iV. I've always liked the Superb and especially the Mk 3, something clicked when I went to Allams open evening for the Kodiaq and there was Jeff Allam's black Superb Sportline in the showroom. The seed was sown. So, another few spreadsheets later of what ex-demo Superb iVs were about let me to Caffyns of Tunbridge Wells who had a 6 month old, 4400 mile Velvet Red example for sale. This one is a Sportline Plus with heated screen and reversing camera. It's also got various options such as traffic sign recognition and blind spot warning, so quite well spec'd. I liked pretty much all of the colours but the Velvet Red (like many Skoda colours) is something else when the sun comes out. Seats are great and alcantara so no need for the heater on all the time! Now about the lack of postcode input into the satnav.... Incidentally, I looked briefly at an Octavia vRS iV but was slightly wary of the current software etc issues and the Superb iV has similar genes to my sister in law's Golf GTE and is pretty well proven. The insurance for the Superb is 30% less than the Octavia vRS. A deal was struck with Caffyns which is around 29% of list. The car was trailered to me (120 miles) and my two taken away in part ex. The deal was fine, the car needed a good polish (which it has now had!) and there are a couple of minor dents in the roof that Caffyns will remove next week FOC (golf tees in a door pocket may be a clue to the dents...). Dashcams fitted and a bumper protector. Oh, and the Vegas will be the winter wheels - there's a set of Supernovas going on when I nip down to Caffyns.... I've only driven 300 miles or so to date but it is brilliant and slightly overwhelming trying to suss out what it is doing and what I think I need to be doing.... I'm used to 'glass cockpits' in light aircraft but the sheer number of variations in the Virtual Cockpit means you'll never get bored on a journey! On a trip I do regularly (105 miles there and then back again) there's a mix of 10 miles of town driving and 95 miles of dual carriageway in the middle. I stayed in electric mode for the town bits, then 'sport' hybrid for the main drive but sat at 65 mph or so. The final electric range said 12 miles so at 10 to go, I went to that and still ended up with 6 left. Game to play will be getting it closer to zero when I get home. Charging to date has been via the 13 amp plug - also on Octopus Go with an EO Mini 2 being installed next week through Octopus. Last night I charged from 2330 hrs at 20% (4 mile range) and it was up to 100% by 0630 hrs MySKODA app showed 24 miles of range but when I set off that went to 26 miles. Cost for that charge on the smartmeter was £1. Me thinks my fuel consumption/cost spreadsheet I had for the Yeti and Citigo is going to be a bit more complex.... Fun times to be had, I'm sure but suffice to say, so far, I am delighted with it.
