  1. Said I'd never use this forum as it's mostly full of unhelpful trolls, and armchair experts. Can't believe some of the responses on this thread - nobody seems to have established what the spec is on the OP's car nor has anybody questioned where the OP originates from ( different specs in different markets ) Car delivered in Oct '20? well that puts it bang in the middle of MY20 or MY21 deliveries - has anyone established for sure what MY the OP has? Could the OP have been looking at the brochure for a MY20 car and was given a MY21 car? That would seem a distinct possibility to me. No point in saying according to the brochure from last year, a brochure is only as good as information at the time of publication - they willl always have a disclaimer that information and prices correct at time of going to press - check with dealer for latest info. Did OP check with dealer what he was ordering? Assuming the car is UK and it's a MY21 ( i.e. two spoke steering wheel on L&K as opposed to 3 spoke) then ACC was not part of any package - you had to order it seperately. Various assistance packages depended on having already chosen ACC, so the OP needs to find out exactly what he ordered because there was no such thing as a 'Driver's assistance package' on MY21 cars - Driver Assistance is a category under which you could choose certain options. So will say it again - did OP actually order something called a "driver assistance package"? From the Oct 2020 MY21 brochure: As you can see ACC was a cost option on L&K. And depending on what assistance package offered, it was conditional on that ACC option being ticked. I apologise if I've overlooked the above responses but the OP hasn't actually mentioned any of these assistance systems are on his car. He mentioned 'Front Assist' but every car comes with that. I'd just like to know what other assistance tools the OP has on the car. My gut feeling is he doesn't have any. But then in the typical Briskoda fashion, it all gets out-of-hand when armchair experts will chip in and cry aloud with reject the car! and compensation! Oh how I've missed this forum - not. Assuming the car was bought in the UK then the time for rejection in this case has long past, and then claims of "I wan't at least ££££ compensation". I shake my head in disbelief. What do you expect to be compensated for - a piece of equipment the OP hasn't missed for 8 months? Hardly essential then is it? If ACC was indeed part of a package the OP ordered, then given the elapsed time, likely compensation would be to refund the price of that option and if you're lucky, something thrown in as goodwill - a free service or £100 compensation voucher or whatever. If OP thinks they'll compensate for 3rd party to fit the system - dream on. If OP threatened to take the matter further then the supplying dealer would probably encourage it, and that's because any 3rd party would see it exactly the same- how can something that hasn't been used or questioned for 8mth ever be considered an essential part of the deal? My strong advice is to check with your supplying dealer as to what you actually ordered. All the evidence points at ACC not being included in any package on a MY21 L&K in the UK. Assuming of course it's a MY21 car you have? If you expected a MY20 car and you defo ordred a pack in which ACC was included, but they gave you the updated MY21 car which doesn't come with ACC, then you will do well to get the cost of the ACC back. If they gave you a newer model than you were expecting then it's reasonable for anyone to see that as compensation itself.
  2. Hey guys, Just wanted to share some of my positive experience with the 6 speed DSG DQ250. I wasn’t happy with the DSG behavior on my Octy because it was jerky between 2nd and 3rd and vise versa. And also between 1st and 2nd with light throttle. So I decided to check the DSG oil by adding 1liter and also check for leaks from the DSG filter seal due to some oil on the transmission which I’ve noticed while changing the engine oil few months ago. The filter cap seal wasn’t leaking, but I was there already and added a liter oil, so changed seal and the filter as well. After the excess oil was drained when the fluid reached 35 degrees, I decided to do some DSG Adaptation a bit different from the one described in Ross-Tech site. I saw it in YT for Golf 7 R.. 1/ Auto Trans > Basic Settings - Reset All Adaptation Values - Basic settings for transmission - Calibration of Synchro-points - Start double-clutch fast adaptation 2/ Then I drove the car in tiptronic(manual) mode on odd and then even gears by pressing the gear selector twice quickly: 1 - 3 - 5 - 6 - 4 - 2 - 1. Did this few times. 3/ After this procedure, I switched to auto mode(D) and now the transmission is so much better - not jerky at all, upshifting and downshifting much better. Some people report that after some time their gearbox returns back its bad behavior and they have to re-adapt the gearbox. I don’t know how long it will remain like that, but I don’t mind doing the adaptation every 3-4 months - it takes 5 mins..
  3. I think if you aren't patient and don't understand the difficulties the world is having right now with supplies of many things you may be best cancelling your order and buying that VW.....
  4. I have no idea why you don't beleive the semiconductor issue, its well know its a huge problem right now. Have you not heard of something called Covid19? Its affecting loads of things, computers/cars, everything which is in higher demand right now has extra problems becuase of the shortage.
  5. Will make some more soon
  6. The melted plug and socket shows signs of poor connections. It is not always a sign of excessive current flowing through that circuit. When the metal contacts in a plug and socket become tarnished and loose some of there tention a resistance is present across the area where the male part of the plug is pushed into the female socket. Because of this the plug and socket pins heat up which in turn melts the plastic. In an ideal world all of us would pull the plug and socket apart ,and reconnect every so often.
  7. I wanted to add in my experience about the Module 44 mod. It would be no small thing to say that this change to the accelerator pedal profile - has transformed our small fleet of cars. Its turned a power jerking Fabia (105bhp) in a smooth power delivery of lovelyness. Our Octavia VRS has stopped fighting the DSG DQ250 gearbox and power delivery is lovely and smooth and I am hoping that on my Octavia Scout - that this will solve the kick-down pause problem too. Why do Skoda have this timebased profile enabled?? It madning.
  8. 505 01 or 507 00, no oils will be both, as far as I know. No other details need your attention.
  9. im just sitting in the foggy back garden after my cycle. too hot to go inside. i just realised today is the 19th. its my one year anniversary!!!! i was meant to go for a 5k anniversary run. ooops. instead i did my 16.5k cycle. view from the top of hill, waypoint 1 time to waypoint 1 - a new record setting blast that, despite the heat gave me enough of a kick to try and keep the momentum going, and... BOOM!!! sub one hr time on route. I'll take that as an anniversary present to myself
  10. My wheel wash method is, Pre spray with a citrus APC including the tyre walls and arches. stiff brush on the tyre walls to remove previous dressing (and the build up of dirt the dressing attracts) Rinse the arches with the pressure washer and then rinse the wheel last to remove all the dirt from the arches, being sure to rinse as much of the barrel as possible. using a detail factory soft bristled brush I wash the face of the wheel with a standard shampoo. I then do the inside of the barrel with a large EZ detail brush. Then with a dedicated wheel mitt I wash the face of the wheel to ensure I haven’t missed anything. once that’s all rinsed off, if the wheels require it (once every three or four months) I will apply a bleeding fallout remover (Purple Rain from Autobrite Direct) and agitate with the detail factory brush and then rinse. once the car is done and it’s dry I wipe the wheels off with a spray wax (Meguars Ultimate spray wax) and buff with some dedicated wheel towels. once a year, I take the wheels off and allow access to the arches for a full clean and decon. The wheels get a wash, two stage decon, clay, polish and wax.
  11. The problem with having compulsory speed limiters is that it assumes the speed limits are set sensibly, not by someone trying to score political points. Tragically there was an accident near where we lived where a teenager died (and 4 others seriously injured) and it led to some local councillors getting speed limit changed from 30mph to 20mph on basis of the accident and death. Being so close to where we lived got to talk to police investigator and Accident actually happened middle of the night, the driver was apparently over limit (wouldn’t say if drink or drugs), car was estimated by police to be doing 60mph, and person killed was thrown out because they weren’t wearing a seatbelt as too drunk to put it on. The result was 20mph limit on that section of A307 in Petersham introduced about 10 years ago, since extended by Richmond upon Thames Council to virtually every road in the Borough as apparently motorists find it too difficult to understand changes in speed limits. Sorry but I object to blanket low speed limits, and believe limits should be set appropriately by road type. I still don’t know how someone ignoring the then 30mph limit, crashing at 60mph justifies changing limit to 20mph. Sadly since moving to Wiltshire there has been similar accident, 4 died at Derry Hill, also returning from nightclub, coroner reports indicate driver intoxicated, crashed at estimated 120mph (double the speed limit). Again an overridable speed limiter wouldn’t have made one bit of difference.
  12. Its 505.01 not 501.01 and definitely not 505.00 507.00 is fine. Do NOT use 508/509 spec oil under any circumstances, it is NOT backward compatible and will probably kill your PD engine. Specs are the important thing for PD engines, the oil must have EP additives to protect the unit injector camlobes. A full synthetic blend is always preferable to semi synthetic, hardly any price difference nowadays and longer life. Stick to known brands.
  13. A little cooler this evening thankfully
  14. Applied sound deadening to the rear seat deck, boot floor and rear wheel arches. A lot of work but thankfully the results were worth the effort! The Scorpion resonated system sounds great, but when I went to stage 2 and added the downpipe (with sports cat) I started experiencing some resonance and sound pressure from the exhaust in the cabin at motorway speeds, around 2,500rpm. This has now been drastically reduced, as has general road noise and vibration. The downside is that I’ve added around 10kg of weight to the car, but I can now enjoy the exhaust tone and intake noise again - at one point I was considering returning to the stock system Some measurements I took with the Decibel X app show how effective the sound proofing’s been even at idle: Before Cold start 70dB Cold idle 67dB Warm idle 60dB After Cold start 64dB Cold idle 60dB Warm idle 55dB I used a layer of Noico 80mil sound deadening mats: https://www.ebay.co.uk/.../Noico-80-mil-36.../402289973761 Followed by a layer of Noico 150mil sound proofing sheets: https://www.ebay.co.uk/.../Noico-RED-150-mil.../402677036211
  15. Collecting on Tuesday. Superb Sportline 190bhp. Sunroof, Canton, Spare Wheel. Lovely drive!!
  16. thanks for the info - i did a search on that kit number and the three parts you mention don't look the same as any of the parts i have (for a BBM fabia) - so i think they must have been different connectors. - but thanks anyway. I did however manage to refit my connector properly - although it felt it had been pushed fully home, i concluded it was not far enough on, so some thorough cleaning and then a smear of vaseline on the new filter stem, and it went fully home with a very satisfying loud click - so i'm sure its on properly now.
  17. Is this really from a cold start or a cold "warm" start (with slightly higher ambient temps). This engine does a weird cat pre-heat with ambient temps of like 20c or above. The exhaust can be loud and gurgly and the engine tends to jolt around a bit if you try to drive off. That's because the valve timing is changed and I think an air pump or something runs I've read somewhere.
  18. Not just the temperature, the humidity is totally oppressive. I remember visiting friends in Delaware in May 1988. It was simply amazing to experience warm rain. Never felt that in my life. tom
  19. Why video it from half a mile away
  20. I believe it is to stop anyone using the car with your personalisation settings, so the option to disable the s-pin is basically telling the car you are happy for all drivers to use the main login when the car starts up. Which may also be why the data-sharing message appears, to advise whoever todays driver is (and their passengers) that their location is constantly being shared. @VinzClortho I never turn my head unit off in the Superb either, but I do receive the message on each start-up. (I don't mind though, although the apparent anomalies are curious).
  21. 1 point
https://www.kufatec.com/en/coding-diagnosis/kufatec-coding-dongle/coding-dongle-activation-last-memory-lane-assist-for-audi-vw-seat-skoda-46265 A quick option to program the lane assist to stay on or off after you turn off the engine.
  22. It does seem inconsistent. I haven't seen this message for a long time now, even though it was I who started this thread. I also have full data sharing enabled.
  23. A 2003 64bhp will be code AZQ, so I fluked the correct wiring diagram. BME engine replaced it in 2005 or late 2004, I forget exactly. The spark plug needs to be removed and checked. Coilpacks aren't especially expensive, £20-odd quid for a mid-price one I expect, genuine from dealer will be a chunk more, and probably no better. 036 905 715F is the part number recommended in the parts catalogue. Plug/Wiring it's probably OK to harvest a second-hand connector plug with a few inches of wire at a local scrappie, and crimp or solder the connections to your existing loom beyond the damaged parts. If you read the part number off the plug (possibly one of the undamaged ones if No.3 has melted in the relevant area) you may find new or 2nd hand connectors on ebay, possibly complete with wire tails.
  24. "pop the recurculate on it" this always makes a world of difference, in every car I've driven - it cools the air much faster don't know why this isn't on by default when setting low AC temp (while outside temp is very high), and why it turns off auto AC in karoq when enabled..
  25. First diagram I've looked at (AZQ engine from Feb 2003) suggests that fuse 52 should have failed first, has that been checked? It supplies coilpacks and a switched power feed to the engine ECU. Doubt there's anything major wrong.
  26. Say no to Saab, hello another Skoda (pick this up on Wednesday)
  27. I’d report the call to 999 to Skoda, if anything is going to give them a kick up the arse it’s peoples cars calling the emergency services and wasting their time. If the call couldn’t be cancelled the time wasting is Skoda’s fault
  28. Good luck with calculating the fuel consumed by a ventilator fan running a little faster than it might I quite liked Climatronic and was initially dissapointed that my Yeti has a manual heating and aircon system; look a little further though and you find it has nearly all the elements of a Climatronic system but not the complicated & possibly temperamental controller to go wrong. The manual controls are anything but, when you turn the temperature knob it does not operate a water valve like a real manual system, it commands the same air blending vents as Climatronic and measures their angle in the same way, it blends hot, ambient and refrigerated air just as a Climatronic, it does not have the temp sensors at the eye level vents as it does not have the function to set individual temperatures for driver & passenger. The knob controlling where the air comes out and the recirc button operate exactly the same flaps as the Climatronic, the heater/AC unit is to all intents and purposes the same simply lacking a couple of sensors and the computer taking control which for old school me is a big big advantage. To my delight I recently discovered that if the A/C is switched off (its not really off as still recirculating fluid) and you set the vent control to defrost the windscreen it turns the A/C on automatically and off again when you return the airflow to the face or feet, it may well have some of the other functions like recirc when reversing but I really dont give a four X for gimmicks like that so neither know nor care. So for me not having Climatronic is no longer a deal breaker, quite the opposite really, its something I would now seek out.
  29. In sportmode you really hear the turbo. I guess🤣
  30. The purple gasket and blanking plate is to block the coolant flow to the deleted EGR valve. You have the rest of it right.
  31. I picked this up last Friday, got the rear windows tinted yesterday, fitted mudflaps and gave it a wash and first coat of sealant/wax today.
  32. @WayTooTall - I would also phone all of the local Skoda and VW dealers in the area; make them aware as well. If you can also find the VIN, make sure the Police have that number and that the VIN is registered in the national lost/stolen database. Finally, phone up Skoda Customer Services and ask them to put a marker on the VIN to state it is lost/stolen in case anybody trying to register it.
  33. So had the Superb put on rolling road to check power after catback exhaust and JB4. Car did 3 runs, i switched between map 1 and 2, didn't bother with stock. Not going to lie bit disappointed but still happy i guess....
  34. Took collection of my silver SE Technology iv estate with a few extras today ( 18" alloys, Virtual cockpit, rear blinds, elec boot, rear camera, heated steering, heated windscreen, heated washers, usb c in mirror, lane change assist, sign camera recognition) What a great car!! I've switched from a 200d 2017 Mercedes E-class estate and so far i am enjoying driving the Skoda more. It is very quick and i like how quickly it self charges in Sport B-mode - did 70 miles and this charged the battery to 36%. Still getting my head aound all the settings. Basic sound system is more than ample. Only negative is the centre console where it meets the arm rest squeeks!! hopefully this goes as it wears in and moves about a bit. I will be doing about 25k miles a year so will see how it goes. i cant complain when it is only costing me £73 a month in company car tax
  35. New owner of '67 Plate Skoda Superb Hatchback 2.0 TDI CR Laurin + Klement 5dr DSG. The image below was from the seller, I've since removed the number plates, and had some plain aluminum ones made up, which look a lot tider. I've also just had the DSG gearbox serviced as there was no actual evidence of this being done at 40k, the car is at 43.5k so hopefully no lasting damage done as it wasn't done at the correct interval. Comes with the tech pack, but TSA not enabled. I'm already in talks with a member on here to have this enabled via VCDS coding, and this is planned for tomorrow.
  36. 37. SE L Executive hatch 280PS TSI 4X4 Alcantara with DCS, KESSY, LED Plus, flappy paddle gearshift, rear seat drop from control in back of boot Collected it today.
  38. Picked up my new to me Superb before Christmas, loving it so far though I was looking for an Octavia Vrs, the value with the Superb was too immense to ignore. 2016 2.0 TDI 190 manual L&K in black. Heated/Cooled electrically adjusted Leather Seats Heated rear seats LED interior light pack Park Assist + Camera 18" wheels Dynamic Chassis Control Heated Front Windscreen Canton upgraded sound system Foot thingy for the boot (cant remember the name but it's handy!) Leather seats take a bit of getting used to as very slippy, especially for the dog's seat protector (from a Passat I had previously) so if anyone has a solution I'm all ears.
  39. Got the Skoda Superb Sportline 1.5 TSI DSG7 Red Velvet Pano roof - 19" wheels - Full LED Martrix lights - Canton audio - Alcantara seats (heated) - Electrical seats with memory - Full options Love the virtual cockpit and having the sat nav on the dashboard. Also great to have personal profiles with keys. My wife opens the car and the seat adjusts to her preference. Normally that means I wouldnt be able to get in, but if I open the car with my key the seat goes back into my position. The space is just such a luxury! We have a reversed baby seat in the car and in our Focus that meant the passenger seat had to be moved to the front quite a bit, not leaving any space to comfortably sit. It's hard to find things to complain about but after long consideration: 1. Why does the car have a full size gear stick for a DSG gearbox? (I know, it was a stretch to have something to complain about) 2. There is a bug in the Culumbus system: sometimes when connecting the phone to CarPlay the sat nav disappears on the virtual cockpit. (It should when you start using sat nav on your phone, but then a message appears the internal sat nav will be switched off, but that is not the case when you just connect the phone and ONLY the sat nav on the virtual cockpit stops, but the Columbus screen itself continues..)
  40. Sadly I have to advise my retirement from Superb ownership and this list as my faithful company car has now been replaced, somewhat later than expected, by a shiny new Octavia. 4 years, 10 months and 1 week with negligible issues, if my company car budget had stretched enough I would have had another in a heartbeat....maybe in 3 years time I'll be back! Below is the last photo of my Superb (I took a lot!), and first of the Octy...
  41. Had this a week now, I absolutely love it. 2017 190 DSG Sportline 4x4. Canton sound, power boot, and factory fitted towbar.
  42. Add me to the list! After a couple of years without a Skoda (my previous was a 2009 Octavia Vrs TDI), I'm back in the gang. Bought this Superb Sportline TDI 190 DSG this week. Absolutely love it so far!
  43. Soon to be new owner! Picking up my 2019 2.0 tsi SE L next week, and can't wait! By far the nicest car I've driven, so really looking forward to bringing this home!
  44. Picked up my new (to me) Sportline last Friday. haven’t time to post as I’m going back outside to lick it once again. Yes I love it that much! 😁👍 ps. It’s been a while 😉
  45. Picked up my new car yesterday, SEL IV. I regret not specifying the TSR function as it appears to also enable the Predictive Cruise control function. I could not find information relating to this before placing my order at the dealership and even Skoda Customer service could verify this. I am hoping i can find a way to get a software upgrade from a third party to enable these functions for me. The dealership are unable to assist. Any advice will be most welcomed.
