  1. Are you an Automotive Industry expert in value or reverse engineering? Do you even know what different processes, materials and components are used to make your auto dimming mirror glass? Do you know what percentage of vehicles sold are fitted with that option? (makes a big difference in inventory costs if a low volume option) Whilst it is a safe bet that there will be profiteering going on without the above info you cannot say it is just because it costs more than the "a bit more" that you say you appreciated.
  2. "Generally speaking, your EV may use 12 to 15 percent more energy than what you add to your battery. " Source: https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a36062942/evs-explained-charging-losses/ More like 66kWh which is over 260 miles. Jokes aside, you've raised a very valid point that I've forgotten.
  3. A few from today's visit to both Charlecote Park and Hidcote Manor
  4. Added some SuperSkoda badges and some DSG paddle extensions... and ordered some H&R Lowering springs!!

To be honest I’m sick of people moaning about delivery times. If you’re expecting things to arrive as fast as they did pre-covid you are delusional. Everything is still up in the air and will be for a long time. Shortages of many things are expected to last well into 2022, especially electronics but loads of manufactured goods too. I am sure the dealers/manufacturers are pulling their hair out trying to get these things sorted but a lot of it is out of their hands. It doesn’t help with customers constantly badgering them who appear to be wilfully ignorant of the times we live in. My advice? Accept it isn’t going to come on time and plan accordingly and stop complaining OR cancel your order and get something else. It’s not a life and death thing, it’s just a holiday you are going on, be grateful you are able to even think about doing it, there’s a lot of people in much worse situations right now. Get a grip. At least if you cancel my car can have the chips which would have gone in yours….
  6. As I'm having the common navigation problem regarding it not saving my home address or any other addresses/last locations, I have been using Google maps. At the weekend I went up to the Peak District, and found out by chance that if you have route guidance on in Google maps but with the announcements turned off, the the next instruction is shown on the virtual dash in much the same was as the Skoda nav does. It only works however, when you have the route guidance on either side of the virtual dash, as in inside the speedo or rev counter, it does not pop up at the top like with the Skoda nav (apart from when you first scroll to route guidance it seems to pop up briefly) Thought this might be of some use to those that weren't aware 👍🏼
  7. Hi there everyone ! I recently became a Skoda owner ! I currently live in India and just today booked my very first car (and first ever Skoda car) - The 1.5L TSI Kushaq. Most (if not all) of you would not have heard of the this model because this is an India specific model that is based on the Kamiq. In terms of looks , dimensions and engine options they are ALMOST the same. Attaching link to the official website page of Kushaq ( here. ) While Kushaq is a fantastic car to drive there are two things that I wish to improve- 1) It does not come with a underbody sumpguard ( attached image here ) which is a problem on the less that ideal roads I drive on and I am worried about some stray stone damaging the costly Czech machinery. Unfortunately a guard isnt being offered as a accessory by Skoda, yet. Based on my research I have come across a sumpguard for the Kamiq sold in the UK ( link here). My plan is to order it to India and then install it on my Kushaq. My concern is that while Kamiq is based on the MQB A0 platform , Kushaq is based on the MQB A0 IN platform- a India specific platform based on the MQB A0. Would appreciate guidance on how to check if the Kamiq's guard will fit on Kushaq or not ? 2) Kushaq does not come with underhood engine insulation ( attached image here ) . While the engine is pretty quiet and the overall sound insulation in cabin is decent adding an engine insulation would help decrease the engine sound at higher revs. I was wondering if Kamiq's engine insulation cover would fit here ? Would again need some guidance on how to check if the part would be a good match /installable on Kushaq, and if they are where do I buy this since its not available on any website in India. Hoping to learn from the experienced folks and would try to contribute to the forum from India. Cheers ! AG
  8. It was a standard fitment. Totally disagree which is why one way or another I’m going to fix it.
  9. I only have an Android phone so can't speak for Apple CarPlay
  10. Nothing like a slow burner... Nearly 3 years later I finally got around to tackling the rear seat bench. Only started at 6pm so was a bit of a rush job before it went dark, but hopefully this should improve things slightly. Had the materials from last time, so this was purely an hour or two of time. What I will say is it's much nicer doing this in summer than when I did the boot in winter last time! As per previous 1.8mm dodo deadening mats, doubled up in the area that slopes downwards from the centre seat on both sides as this bit sounded especially hollow when tapping it. Just got the seat bench to put back, need to figure out how to remove the 2 grommets as the front hooks don't stay in them. I have some new replacements, but didn't figure out how to remove the old ones before it went dark. If anyone has any tips here then I'm all ears
  11. Great tip, I’ll have to try that for Apple Maps navigation
  12. ^^^ Normal vehicles used for everyday use, like many they have. Are the Skoda really going KISS with the Mk4 Fabia? Hopefully they have had all the time to be sure they learned from past mistakes, door looms free from a short life because people open and close doors, seals of doors and hatches that keep H20 out, & a good heating / cooling / de-misting system across all trim levels.
  13. Don’t assume that any gauge is accurate. It may be consistent, but not absolutely “accurate”. Not that it matters too much as consistency is all you need. Once you discover what pressure on “your” pressure gauge works best for you then life is good.
  14. There may be an underbonnet insulation moulding for the diesel variants if there are any?
  15. No, I don't, it's just sloppy, not dangerous. In fact I think that's your mechanics new nickname, if he was one of the seven dwarves he'd be Sloppy.
  16. Thanks for the reply Nick, I've disconnected the battery now for a couple of minutes and taken it for a drive. Unfortunately no change in the infotainment. Still no Satnav, or music available from the SD card, and the radio wouldnt turn off again :( Think this might need booking in to Skoda
  17. Solved New fan assembly with both fans did the trick. I think the main fan with the integrated fan control module was the fix.
  18. I don’t have the transport pack and the car came with the plastic Velcro thing.
  19. Thanks am reading through it 👍
  20. Mike Rutherford in Auto Express today describes exactly why I’m reluctant to go with a ‘top spec’ Fabia. See article below: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/opinion/355800/latest-infotainment-systems-some-vws-arent-fit-purpose When we finally see what’s on offer in the UK hopefully the lower spec cars will have more user friendly infotainment systems. At least the Fabia Estate will be available as a good alternative!
  21. I like the look of the LEAF Spy Pro as it give you the true size of the battery as well as battery temp, very important in a LEAF. Except one has to learn what I a GID is ! What is wrong with the good old Joule, kilojoule, MegaJoule, GigaJoule etc ? I think a GID is about tenth of a kWh but then 293 then sounds like a lot ie more than a 64 kWh LEAF would hold even at 104.3% of nominal.
  22. It's because there is a high pressure area alongside the car so when you open the windows at speed that high pressure tries to 'escape' inside the car but can't do it continuously, hence the pulsing. Cars have been doing it ever since drag factor became an issue - was seen on every car we worked on when I was working on active noise systems back in the late 1980's so it's not a new thing nor a specific to Skoda thing.
  23. This one only needs a breather filter, fresh air goes in this bit from the filter housing. The foam covered pipe that goes into the side of the turbo is the bit what needs a catch can.
  24. Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to display the battery status, range etc on the infotainment screen? The readout on the Dash is so small as to be useless (and I have good eyesight) and sadly I didn't spec the HUD! I doubt anyone who need reading glasses would be able to even see much of the Dash info. Our Peugot e208 has the ability to display the battery status on the infotainment so it seems odd that the Enyaq does not allow for this. Also is it possible to customise the info shown on the Dash readout? Again the Peugeot allows for a number of preset displays and a custom option. I've had a good dig into the settings but cannot seem to find an option for this. Thanks.
  25. I think you've miss understood what's happening... It's the standalone mobile app that Google are no longer supporting. Android Auto will continue to work as normal when connected to a car with AA support
  26. Select vehicle screen, then charging in the top right corner and you get this.
  27. You don't have to remove door card to inspect the cables. Just pop off the bellows edge from the A pillar side and then see if there are any broken cables.
  28. Yeah you’ve made a bit of a mess of all your coding there, module 13 and 19 should not be faulting like that unless you messed around with coding. Obd11 is not really amazing for long coding, really you need VCDS. And if you can’t access 6C then you won’t have a way to code it at all seems you have also had the battery disconnected so make sure to start the car; slowly turn the steering full lock to full lock till the light goes out, then restart the car followed by a fault code clear.
  29. The EA288 motor has various stages of DPF regeneration : • Passive regeneration ( when the engine is up to temp and the car is used mostly on a motorway at a steady speed - the user will not normally notice this regeneration) • Heat-up phase - ( when the engine is cold - the ECU goes in to a pre programmed heat up phase to bring the DPF up to temp quickly - identified by the higher idle after startup ) • Active regeneration ( The ECU measures the back pressure or soot loading of the DPF and goes in to active DPF regeneration mode - normally identified by a raised idle speed even when the engine is at full temperature ) • Regeneration trip by customer ( Customer must go for a drive to force the regeneration to complete if the DPF light comes on in the dashboard ) • Service regeneration ( Forced DPF regeneration by connecting the dealers diagnostic computer when normal regeneration is not possible ) • Mileage regeneration ( as a safety backup - the ecu will perform an active regeneration every 465 miles regardless of the soot loading of the DPF if it has not registered a COMPLETE regeneration cycle in the last 465 miles )

More helpful videos, including the levelling motor in part 2.....
  31. Not a thing yet George, Polmadie is nearly ready though
  32. I think leaving it here will be attract a greater audience.
  33. Wow! I didn't know AC and and power steering co-existed in 1.3 engines. I understand it better now. Thanks. You are lucky. I consider myself lucky too. Because I learned a lot from all of you. Thanks a million. I've found a 82-92 thermal switch on discount. It's Vernet and $5. I'm testing it now and I will write later about it. I can't edit my own posts. So here it is:
  34. Skoda Karoq 2.0 TSI Sportline 11 month review After 11 months of ownership of my Karoq I thought I would write a quick review. I’m very pleased with the car overall, covering 5300 miles in 11 months has been pretty good motoring. Negative points: Few bits of interior trim are loose, the plastic surrounding the digital dash rattles (a lot) and the passenger door panel as well. Not the worst issues but will be sorted out by Skoda when the car is serviced in 3 weeks Small fuel tank Pumped in engine noise in sports mode sounds rubbish Pointless ECO mode, why? Makes no difference at all. Positive points: Fuel economy, around town, 33 mpg. Drove from Southampton to Essex few days ago and average was …..45.9 MPG , mixed driving too! I think this is good Car looks great in black and does get admired on occasions Great specification, my next car will need a pan roof, electric boot and canton, oh Karoq you have spoiled me! The car is spacious, front, rear and the boot Suspension provides a good ride, firm but still comfortable Basic looking interior but still looks good Interior materials are of a good quality The engine, 187 BHP doesn’t seem alot but you can put all the power down(when needed) because of the 4 X 4. 0-60 is 7 seconds, feels properly quick. On the motor way at 60 MPH if I want to overtake the car is fast. DSG box -manual mode paddles, if you are on the right road for a ‘spirited drive’ the gear change is smooth and quick I will the option soon of changing cars, another Karoq? Maybe in red or blue? I do fancy a VRS Octavia though. The Karoq 2.0 TSI sportline in my opinion is a great car, I can see the merits in the 1.5 petrol and even the 2.0 diesel versions but the 2.0TSI petrol can provide economy and fun.
  35. More-bhp do have a rolling road. Mine has been fine since 2006 and hasnt blown up yet

Delta T is the entire raison d'etre of an intercooler, bear in mind that it's not long ago that many turbo diesels didn't even bother with intercoolers at all because hot air actually improves diesel combustion, guess what glow plugs are for, hint: they're not for warming the cylinder head.
  37. Thanks both that's my feeling too, ah well back to looking.
  38. Good news guys, they admitted liability and now I'm going through insurance. I wasn't trying to help them I just wanted to avoid the hassle of dealing with the legal battle if they turned around and said I went in to the back of them. So I was being nice and playing along as not to get their backs up. @AlVal pacc is something I wanted to do... How did you get past the cp yourself and the FEC/SWAP?
  39. Take it away from that garage, if they've had it a week it means they don't have a scooby what's wrong with it.
  40. maybe i'm just really lucky i did my deletes too and all mapped out and smoke tested (not as hard as i thought) thanks to Bowders and his guides
  41. Excellent thread (and stunning car).. thanks for sharing the progress I need to do all the deletes on mine soon just the parts list is confusing.. I've had the SAI deleted via remap so shouldn't need any resistors (I think).. First up is going to be the PCV delete I think.. Re: catch can - I done a PCV delete on a PD130 Mk4 Golf and in 2 years there was about 5ml of oil in it.

Have you checked that the Haldex unit has been properly serviced up to now?
  43. The seats and carpet are in! Just got home from work (easiest place to carry out this job) It has been an absolute joy removing the very tired and worn grey carpet and replacing with a black variant from a mk4 golf. Along with a set of Recaro heated leather front seats, rear bench, and a leather armrest also from a mk4. A fairly straightforward job made easier by using the many guides and information found on this forum! It's improved the look of the cabin massively and the seats are much more supportive than the original seats. Next on the list is to wire up the heated elements and get them working via the original switch I fitted where the blank used to be. From what I've read I need to get a loom from Kufatec, and a relay and then link it all up!
  44. Blimey - you've changed your tune on Brexit??? never thought I'd hear that admission! Anyhow - back to cars - looks like I'll be keeping the current ones for a while then as nothing fills me with more dread than the thought of sitting in an autonomous car...
  45. Reviews have reported the Enyaq as quite stiff. I have DCC on my Kodiaq, love it, and will get it on an Enyaq if I buy one.
  46. You might want to consider some contact cleaner gently applied to the steering wheel controls.
  47. The volume bar is only visible when making adjustments and not permanently on my Kodiaq.
  48. Spray on Autoglym Magma at the car wash, while queuing, then get blasted with water jet on all wheels, works a treat, as I have green wheels I can see there is loads of dust from the pads
