  1. ….. aka Big Red Bear. A family member with a van is unable to rendezvous with me this weekend so my 5 builder sacks of cuttings from my laurel hedge were cluttering my doorstep. With rain forecast for tomorrow I was very keen to keep them dry and delivered to local council dump asap. So it was seats all down, old blanket in place and my dear wife helped me hump all 5 bags into the bear. I’ve only carried 3 bags in the past and honestly didn’t expect to get all 5 in. In fairness, the bags are not full to the brim, but were evened out to equal weights so that I (sorry we) could actually lift them. Now all set for an early trip to the dump. Then tomorrow pm, car will flip into 6 seat mode as I head with offspring No.2 and family to Scotland’s No.1 Race Track for some motorised entertainment followed by fireworks. Good old Kodiaq I say.
  2. Thanks all for your info and advice. It was good have the confidence of going back to them with a bit more knowledge if needed. However, in the event, they put the battery on charge and at the end of it all everything seemed to be OK. I asked why the battery had been low in the first place and they were a bit vague - 'Just one of those things - have you been doing a lot of short journeys recently?'. I said, no particularly short journeys - but then remembered that I'd left my wireless phone charger plugged into the USB port over night and when I left it at the dealers (I don't usually leave it plugged in). They said that this could have caused it. So all's well. No big bill for a new battery and I drove away with a smile and everything working and feeling just fine. The only other thing that came up on the vehicle check was that the rear screen wash was squirting in not quite the right direction. I declined the offer of paying them 30 mins labour to spend 2 mins poking it with a pin - I can do that myself! Anyway - thanks again.
  3. @nta16 Your time to edit a post on Briskoda is limited if you are not a Freedom member.
  4. Hey, Just here to introduce myself. I'm James, the proud owner of a 2016 Superb SE L Exec 1.4 TSI ACT DSG in Black Magic. I hope to get involved and meet some of you guys. Wish me luck, J.
  5. posted this the intro forum but more relevant here Hello Name is Gav or Coopster (from uk originally) living in Roi, Ive had many many cars in the past here is a little blog of some of them: http://coopster.synthasite.com/ i Brought a Superb 3u mk1 2l 140bhp 99k miles a year ago with the dreaded pollen filter leak ( didn't know at the time of buying) that's actually how i found this site whilst looking for a fix - with thanks 😁 got that sorted fairly handy with the help of theis Group and now looking to mod it a little. so far ive changed the alloys upgraded the lights to leds fitted touchscreen system chipped with racechip.com drilled and grooved discs rear spoiler front light brows tinted windows i have on order front de badge grill and rear light covers. now looking to see if i can install front fog lights in the bumper tho i can t find much to suit just yet. few pics of my Mine and the bits Ive on order

It is. My daughter used it to charge her phone wirelessly. I is brighter when charging and dim when not.
  7. Good to hear. I work in a motor spares and fit most bulbs for free but I am amazed at how many we get in with incorrectly fitted bulbs.
  8. be careful with this one had a clunk on my 14 reg garage couldn't find anything wrong it got so bad had to leave it at the garage it took two of them to notice the o/s engine mounting has split the gel bonding and snapped the mounting bolt in the block DISASTER engine out drill out bolt new bracket repaired but still cost £600 otherwise the car was scrap showed me the bracket gel bag had split. Good Luck mate you might need it
  9. Thanks all. I only noticed it today when I went to override ACC and the brake pedal wasn't where I expected to find it! @aerofurb agree this iteration of ACC is very clever, it seems able to spot pedestrians too; my Passat wasn't that good.
  10. Yes, it's meant to do that - I had a Golf 7.5 before and it was a bit unnerving when it happened in the Superb!
  11. Scraper ring problem was fixed in 2011 so a 2012 tsi should be ok
  12. mate that is exactly what im looking for .. would it be possible to get an out line of the plate you made please ?
  13. I've also just done three little jobs before the heavens opened up again. First was to replace the expansion bottle. The old one was unsightly but also it had a few areas that looked like they were going brittle. I ordered a Meyle pattern part which arrived today. It was £15 from Ebay and seems to be just as good as the original in terms of plastics & build quality. It's a five minute job to swap them over really so for a few pounds and a bit of fresh G12, it was worth it. It's a lot smarter and I'm easily pleased.... As you can see I also replaced the power steering fluid reservoir cap. Again, small changes but it keeps me happy. Next was to replace the offside indicator lens as it was going green. This was a copy by the looks of it so I replaced it with an Ebay special. I did the other side a year ago and it's been fine so I'm hoping this will be the same. Just as I finished, it started to belt it down so I had to call it a day. None of these jobs were essential but it keeps on top of things and makes the car a little bit smarter in the process.
  14. So this is what I made a few years back. It work for me. I took a power feed from the fusebox and fed it up to the cubby hole and attached a cigar lighter socket to the end. Out of this is a dual USB adapter. I also ran a lead to run an MP3 player too. The top plate was made from thick Plasticard from a model shop with a stiffener bit glued below. Suction cup mount stuck on top. Pics explain it all.
  15. The sensor sits on a special sealant/gasket that if it's incorrectly applied and gets air bubbles in the sealant/gasket it throws the sensor calibration out
  16. I expect you need something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ECP-Emergency-Quality-Plastic-1782177/dp/B08TPBTTDD There is a VW part number 000072709 but it only appears to be in the USA...
  17. Urgently get the camchain and tensioner checked - do not drive until this is done.
  18. If you don’t mind me asking, how so cheap? When did you purchase the vehicle? We recently bought our Karoq SE Drive with 4K miles, fairly basic spec and that was 20k even after a generous discount due to loyal customers/family etc.
  19. Sounds really good! Please let me know how you get on with it because I think I’ll be going over to VW for the polo rather than the Fabia. Like you said, with VW I could select a specific few things I want whereas the Fabia are big packages for a big price which includes a lot of things I don’t want!
  20. Hi Tim1631 - many thanks for your very supportive comment. I should point out that the £22000 is the price before the discounts I mentioned. Also I am not interested in a Karoq. I am comparing the Polo I have ordered to the Fabia I wanted to order which is well over £23000 with no support from Skoda yet on PCP. Are you suggesting that anyone looking at a small hatchback should really just go for a Karoq because you happened to get a good deal?
  21. 22k on a polo hahahaha I paid 23k for a sporline Karoq. Brand new They must of seen you coming miles away
  22. and... today, after another 1/2 night on the pretend mattress i woke up about 615. alarm was set for 630 (a lie in lol) and so went ninja again and escaped. geared up and went for a run. and..... was it a blistring pace? god no. but at my 6k route turning point everything just felt good so i kept going, knowing i had the time on a saturday morning if it all went wrong and i had to crawl home. 8k is longest ive run since the january knee pain issues started. nothing today except sweat and being extra knackered when i got home delighted is an understatement....
  23. @kentdale If it is your Superb sport line plus 190 scr 4x4 dsg then it is not a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG and it requires oil changes. (& your haldex does as well) PS 'Autohold' is a hold the car while stopped / stationary while driving system that holds the car with the engine running or stop / start having the engine stopped. So doing the same job as though your foot was on the brake pedal. It is not a hand brake / finger brake /parking brake, that is the e-Brakes job. the e-brake just puts the rear brakes on. The 'Autohold' has the 4 brakes functioning.
  24. Yes! They have significantly improved driveability. It has certainly lost some comfort, but totally acceptable considering the end result. Here're some pics:
  25. There is no stage 2 remap, you'd need a bigger turbo but the engine isn't anywhere near as strong as the 1.9 so I'd be chary of going any further than where you already are. Further mods would frankly be a waste of money.

The latter. So when I put my main beam on. Im not running around with dipped beam and fog lights 👍🏻
  27. I've had many a ****nav suggest I drive the wrong way up a one way/restricted road, and that's with many flavours of satnav/car system. Indeed I live near a road that has changed twice, the first change being all but ignored, and becoming more dangerous (and it was poor already) but because of the motorists saying 'well my (out of date) ****nav says it's OK' and 'what no entry sign' it was swapped back - and so now locals are suffering again because of out of townies trying to park for free, saving all of a quid! I use satnav as a guide (as you clearly did) but really no amount of re-routing with an out of date map database can really work unless you've driven well away, to come in from another direction that does have a legal route. There is no way even waze can keep up with changes, and that's crowd sourced data - I think Waze only react quickly to speedcam and RTC's as that looks good. I do correct any map errors I see on OSM data when I see stuff that is wrong/new but that really does take time to filter through.
  28. I'd suggest before looking at power increase you look at uprating the braking system. I notice that the MK2 Fabia has discs al round. Possibly not an option on a MK1, but perhaps an upgrade to the VRS discs and pads?+
  29. Went up a local hill and watched everyone else's fireworks this evening HwVideoEditor_2021_11_05_200830008.mp4
  30. The biggest battery that will fit the Mark 3 Octavia is the 096. The original battery sleeve might not fit if the original battery was the smaller 057 size. In my case I replaced the OEM 057 EFB battery with an 096 AGM from Tanya batteries . It arrived the following day. I coded it with OBD ELEVEN. In my opinion it is cheaper to buy your own OBD ELEVEN and supply and fit the battery yourself even if you never use OBD ELEVEN again? My OEM battery lasted just over 3 years and 5 months but lockdown didn't help and TBH I didn't charge it often enough during long periods when the car was parked!
  31. Latest Updated Speedcams - November, 2021. Here's the latest update of my customised version of EUR Speedcams ( November, 2021). They consist of the full EUROPE speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Fixed Speedcams, Average Speedcams, Variable Speedcams and Redlight Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons, shown below, to match each of the categories. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to open the newly extracted folder and place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in your infotainment map menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Hope you all enjoy them! EUR Speedcams November, 2021.zip

9 months. You must hold the record for your wait.hope you get it soon.
  33. It certainly has or had more defoamer, I used to have a hell of a problem refilling the Octavia 1 and 2 with diesel in the UK, no problem at all in France, the Yeti has the problem licked so I don't know if the UK fuel remains as was or has now been improved. You could be right regarding the calorific value, I always get less to the gallon in the UK but put it down to the journey profiles and traffic, since covid all my journeys aside from country to country have been local, last time in the UK my fuel economy did not drop, because of the fuel shortage I had refilled at Calais and drove for the 2 or 3 weeks in the UK on the same fuel, usually within a week I will have filled with UK fuel. And now I come to think of it the journeys France to England (190 miles) vs the exact same return trip are always more economical and yet there is only 9 meters of elevation difference between the two properties, the fuel for each trip 99% of the time has been bought from the destination country. Elevation does make a difference, I frequently travel 25 miles to Arras which is 40m lower than my property, there is an 6mpg difference between the outward and return journeys on the same roads at the same speeds, the mean of the two equates to my average for similar journeys. Returning to sea level from the Alpes would give better economy than in the other direction although the difference would be minimised by the long journey, add in different fuel and it could be significant.

If your car is failing to connect to the server and has no internet connection at all,try pulling fuses 19 & 30 and leaving for 10 minutes. This does a hard reset of the main systems and has worked for me on 3 occasions.
  35. I think you're talking about this pump - https://www.autodoc.co.uk/bosch/14762024 (I think this is the secondary water pump that circulates coolant after you turn the engine off) This is unlikely to be the culprit for a coolant leak, it'll be the main £350 pump that's failed (or more specifically, the housing of which will have developed a leak). If you're able to buy genuine VW Group part of these - https://www.awesomegti.com/ea888-gen-3-water-pump-repair-kit/ - for £80, I suggest you buy as many as you can and start selling them on eBay for £250, you'll make a fortune.
  36. As I said I trust the guy- he uses TPS who supply genuine Volkswagen group parts to the motor trade. If thats what he says the kit is I am not going to dispute it. I would think this is what he is getting https://www.autopartspro.co.uk/jp-group-12903537
  37. breather hose being split is defo not going to help you .. this can basically implode on its self causing breathing problems with in the system ... fix that first
  38. My car has been built and is on it's way. Looks like the 2 week shutdown was designed to finish off partially built cars.
  39. Nice one! So you are the one that bought it. I was wondering who it went to after it was taken off the internet... May I ask what the final price was? If it's not a secret. p.s.: safe trips and many happy kilometers!
  40. Much less traffic on the Autoroutes with the exception of the mad exodus for les vacances, you can maintain a cruising speed mile after mile without being slowed up or having to accelerate to avoid being boxed, in 15 years I have only come to a stop in a tailback twice. 549 miles nearly all on Autoroutes and I'm guessing without any holdups, in my part of the UK you would be lucky to get 10 miles like that. The above does not include Paris & le périphérique.
  41. I was followed for a few miles on a unlit 'A' road last night by what I think was a Octavia though it could have been a Superb - Either way, it had some sort of set up that adjusted the beam throw. It was able to project its beam throw down the offside of me, lighting up the right hand hedgerow a good way beyond me but cancelling its self out whenever a vehicle came towards us. Curious thing was, I wasn't able (via my mirrors) to discern any visible change in his headlights when this happened and nor was there any dazzle via my mirrors...........very clever I thought.
  42. @Phil-Eyou imply that the iV has dry clutch 7 speed. Not so. The box is a derivative of dq250 with 6 speed and wet clutch.
  43. "Error". That says it all.
  44. Running Shoes: There are kids that can run over the stony beach at Brighton like it was sand and others who look like they are walking on broken glass. Needless to say I fell in the latter category. This meant that my running prowess at school was considerably hampered by the standard issue school plimsoll (of the time) which consisted of a thin plastic base with a semi-breathable artificial shoelace-tied cover. In my case they were cripplingly bad. Years later my seminal moment was buying a pair of then very fashionable Reebok runners. That is so long ago that they still featured the British flag prominently on the box. They felt like slippers and at last running did not hurt! Best shoes I have ever bought and lasted for years but later editions were cheapened down so I jumped brands For many years of running I was an Asics devotee but increasing prices and another apparent quality reduction means I have become an agnostic. Literarily "If the shoe fits, at a reasonable price, I'll wear it" I do have foot problems with classic symptoms of mild plantar fasciitis, the first few footsteps in the morning are always pure pain and reminiscent of my youth on Brighton beach. I did have a major flair-up of the condition a few years back, which side-lined me, and did everything to avoid surgery (anecdotally only 50% success rate) and I found that using a low heel running shoe on grass rectified most of the issues. The brand was Merrill and I found their last in that shoe suited my foot profile really well, unfortunately that model has apparently been dropped from their range. I buy a Neutral shoe (I am not quite flat-footed) with a wide fitting to avoid pressures on my arthritic big toes (self inflicted with a bad landing attempting a somersault dismount off gymnastic rings) and currently favouring New Balance and Brooks. Whoever has the best sale prices at the time. I am fussy but cheap! One thing is for sure, even though I have had a few running induced injuries (foot fracture, both Achilles tendons, sprained ankle over the years) my feet are a lot better now because I have persevered with running than if I had just given up. My wife and I manage to walk a few kilometres barefoot along the beach most days, needless to say it is a sandy beach
  45. I just want to thank @Wayland and everyone else for this thread and the advice in it . . . I managed to get this done today, and in the rain no less! There's no doubt that this retrofit does have some 'tricky' bits but overall, I think anyone can do it . . . With enough patience that is haha (never again!).

Now now, don't be bitter. 😉 I'm sure that incentive is purely to encourage a FULL EV take up. 👍
  48. I've had the 95K1 software applied to mine, about 3.5 yrs ago. It is purely meant to fix the headlight startup sequence, so that it (headlight dance) doesn't get "stuck" or interrupted by ignition firing up. It doesn't do anything to the headlight range/performance. As it's been said before - park approx. 7m from a wall, pop the bonnet, using an Allen key, make slight adjustments to the adjuster on the top of the headlight. There r two adjusters - one for vertical throw and another for horizontal. Adjust the vertical one. See image below. If u need to make major adjustments - then u need VCDS or OBDEleven to put the headlights into Learning mode before u can make adjustments.
  49. yup! but the weird thing was it didnt bothered me. none of it did. i just went along with all the ****e and was laughing through the spray coming up off the front wheel into my face. id say the people in traffic going the other way mustve thought i was an utter nutter laughing away cycling up the bypass in a status yellow rainfall warning

@john999boy No, you are thinking of DC rapid charging. There are no conflicting specs. AC single phase (what you have at home) maxes out at 7.4kW. This is the limit of the cable (32 amp current). On 3 phase AC the limit is 22kW. Still 32 amp current but 3 phases so 3x7.4. To make use of AC to charge a battery it must be converted to DC. This is done by the car's on board charger. The max output of the on board charger is 11kW. Therefore the max AC charge rates for Enyaq are 7.4kW single phase AND 11kW 3-phase.
