  1. All fixed, at a local chain in Edinburgh (Farmer). The wheel bearing cost £200, but then they replaced the ABS sensor and realigned the wheel so in total cost £300. They managed to sort it out in a morning so that was good and they are only a 5min walk from us, so good for getting back to work! The wheel is now much better but I have noticed that steering wheel is now slightly rotated left, which is annoying (I have emailed back to see if I can sort it out after the Christmas break…).
  2. Went to Peterborough Monday and bought the 4 secondhand wheels that were on eBay. Some curb rash but OK. Have 2 of these now on the back and put an existing wheel from the back to replace the bent one on the front. So now have 3 spares, I'd call that a result. Thanks again for the help.
  3. I thought this was friendly yeti enthusiast forum.but ok and for your info yes I have and it cost no more . Cheers x
  4. It isn't for you to have to play two dealers off against each other, or to try and dig out a Skoda TPI. It is time to involve Skoda Denmark Customer Services, and ask them to resolve the issue for you, on your behalf. Perhaps the second dealer, whilst probably not being allowed to share with you the actual TPI, might instead provide you with the TPI 'number', to which you could include during your conversation with Skoda Denmark?

    Slowenia 😅
  6. Sitting charging for free. I save lots buying reduced price stuff in the supermarket. Also if in before the crazy mobs doing trolley fills. Also the charger busy times now. Lots of energy used each day / night even if doing 6 times just under 1 mile a day. 2 .5 kWh. If paying a home tariff of 20 pence that would be 50 pence a day. OK but this is real world and not what journalist or YouTube reviewers or manufacturers show.

Yesterday I send email to my dealer since it was one month from last email to remind him that I still exist and while he did not have any new news he did call importer and got following news (all cars are Octavia RS): 2 customers are waiting for cars that were ordered in December 2020 1 customer is waiting for car that was ordered in January 2021 2 customers and me that ordered in February 2021 This is for Slovenia only. So it could be worse than it is
  8. The cheap Amazon one yes, the OP's one must be fixed to the crash bar, its the only structure forward of the chassis rails. Either would make a mess of a pedestrian but setting that aside I could write the vehicle off with a swing from a hammer or a rubber deadblow mallet, thats why I definitely would not have anything attached directly to the crashbar after having seen the devastation caused by what appears to be a tiny tap on my Yeti.
  9. More common than the TDI version that made absolutely no sense whatsoever? Hardly difficult, nor surprising really. More common than other variants? I very much doubt it. More common than R-Line Tiguans? Not a chance... possibly not even more common than the Tiguan R (I've seen several of them already). Gave mine a proper clean yesterday for the first time since... err... getting it 😮. Forgotten how nice it is when shiny. 1,300 miles so far and loving it more and more...
  10. As you would've seen by now, we have reverted to using the forum for posting in the marketplace. To make things easier and, to make selling your items a breeze, we've added a 'For Sale Template'. On your editor toolbar, you'll now find a 'Lightening Bolt', this is called stock replies. Clicking this will bring up another box. Clicking the 'For Sale Post Template' and, the editor pop will be populated with an editable template. Please try to add as much detail to your for sale post as possible.
  11. Just got home from changing 18" (Rainsports 2) to 16" wheels with Michelin Crossclimate 2's. IT's SO MUCH BETTER! Granted on a track the 18"s would be better - but on the road - wow! Quieter, much less harsh vibes + tyres way cheaper. I thought the 18s were a little to "twitchy" and they droned like heck on any but the smoothest surfaces. Yep looks like a taxi but I dont care. Recommended!
  12. Hi All I have recently bought 2018 Octavia 1.6 TDI with a 7 speed DSG Can someone tell me does this transmission require oil changes or is ‘Sealed for Life’ Im getting different answers , my local dealer says yes at 4 years, I see others say no Many thanks for info

The Skoda garage told me that codes are re-set when you turn the engine off. Yes they did swap coils over, they also did a compression test. Let's hope this is the end of this now

No more problems until the day I took the car into my normal garage. On the morning I took the car to my garage I wasn't expecting much. I didn't think thei diagnostic machine would pick up anything because I believed the car had reset codes when it was turned off. Luckily for me when i started the car up on that morning the engine light came on. I left it on and drove to the garage. I go them to connect the diagnostic machine up while it was still running. Low and behold they brought up the exact same error I did Coil 4. They replaced the coil (plugs were fine) with an original, reset the codes. Now we wait to see what happens

Still at the back of the grid?
  16. Agree with silver1011 and J.R. I had a similar problem when my 2015 vRS was nine months old. Skoda UK initially rejected the claim, so I sent them high resolution photo's and asked them to reconsider, which they did. Stand your ground and challenge them all the way. I had no idea there was a TPI. Gaz Photo's of mine:
  17. Hello Daniel. What year is your vehicle? I think "sealings" might not be the correct word possibly due to an auto translation, its difficult to see what the photograph is of and what is the correct orientation. To me it looks like a photo of cracking paint on the side return flange of the tailgate where there is a horizontal swage line, is that correct? It also looks like the side of the panel may have been dented, perhaps the tailage has been closed when obstructed by an object? If it is a paint crack and not a leaking seal or leaking panel joint seal 5 years after a repair on a vehicle at least 5 years old then I cant see a main dealer or lawyer taking the matter very seriously. My apologies if I have misunderstood.
  18. Given the OP didn't know what BT was then my thought process is keep it as simple as possible. With all the best will in the world, BT isn't the most reliable medium and I fear the OP may end up visiting these pages more often than he'd like asking "what's wrong, my BT connection doesn't appear to work". With USB you're effectively hard wiring the product so in theory it should be trouble free.
  19. Thanks for your input oil filler cap is correctly fitted and no oil on top of engine Oil change was via sump plug If the sump plug is dry it only leaves the plastic filter cap and when it goes back to dealer on wednesday I hope that fixes it. Other than this the car runs like a dream

It's a Skoda plot to reduce the number of components needed for their cars. I've read on several forums in different countries the same campaigns... So far, no one that has reported the agreed reduction hasn't received their vehicle. In the end, it's only you that gets screwed. My dealer doesn't have the balls to suggest something like that
  21. Assuming it is engine oil then there are only really three possible touch points during the oil change... 1) Oil filter housing 2) Sump plug 3) Oil filler cap. The common issues associated with each are: 1) As already mentioned, the filter housing is plastic and the screw cap has a maximum torque level. If over torqued they can distort and / or crack. The inside of the filter housing lid / cap has a rubber seal, again as mentioned if this is incorrectly fitted (it is possible for it to drop into the wrong slot), or is stretched, split or snapped during installation, then oil may be able to pass. 2) Some dealers extract the oil from out of the oil filler opening so the sump plug may not have been touched, some dealers do still remove the sump plug to drain the oil. Some dealers completely replace the sump plug for a new one (complete with a new crush washer), others reuse the old sump plug. If the plug is cross threaded, over-tightened or not tightened enough, or the crush washer is worn or has failed then again oil may pass. 3) Finally as the oil is replaced and the levels checked it is common for dealers to accidentally forget to replace the oil filler cap. This should be easy to diagnose though as it will be obvious the minute you lift the bonnet by the missing cap and oil covering most of the engine and underside of the bonnet.
  22. i was out doing a few jobs earlier around town, pick up etc. and i thought to myself. . **** id love to be up those hills on the bike now...
  23. Another chilly one... I must be getting ready for retirement 😀 🚴
  24. Range shown is not what you might actually get. My car is using 2.5 kWh in 24 hours to do 6-8 times 0.7 miles a day. I have a 50kWh Corsa-e that actually is 45 kWh usable. The percentage is correct this morning and the miles range might be if i use the car as i have for the past 3 days, but if i set off now and get 2.7 miles per kWh then the range is actually going to be greater than this shows, if i get 3.1 miles a kWh even greater. If 3.5-4 kWh then like showing in the 2nd bottom pic. I could be at 99% battery and only 89 miles range showing and after 30 miles driving to Perth on a 60 mph max road the range would be at 99 -118 miles or more.
  25. Pre-Christmas family event at our house so it wasn't until this morning that I thought I would do some voltmeter tests. Discovered a design problem with the Mk 3. The driver's door and the front passenger door would not open with central locking. I could open the driver's door manually with the key, but this is not possible with the front passenger door. Trouble is the bonnet cannot be opened without opening the front passenger door! Had to abandon my testing. Sat and had a thought and decided to test the main plug. I thumped the main plug behind the carpet and everything came on and the car started. The biggest problem, knowing the cause, solved. Taking it to my local garage tomorrow for a permanent fix. HOORAY

I am one of the two.
  27. Your engine may be running slightly rich then. Oil smoke would be blue and actually smell of oil.

  29. Be interested to see what gets resolved when it comes back by tonight, updates later!
  30. They pull off pretty easily. Designed that way so that someone in the boot can get out by pulling that off then tripping the inside boot release according to a video I saw on t'internet. I can get you the part number tomorrow should you wish to replace it.
  31. Oh, in which case, no. I had an inkling that's what you meant. Heid oot the gutter, Sep.
  32. Nope, it's a big blanket, used to roll the bodies up in. If anyone asks me why I'm carrying it, I just say I'm going for a picnic.
  33. I mean mechanophilia, are those rolled up spare tartan trousers I can see there next to the serial killers overnight bag?
  34. My Fabia ticked over to 57k yesterday and I wasn't able to snap a photograph sadly. I'm a wee bit gutted about that.

  37. We picked up our new Skoda Enyaq Sportsline 16 October, it was delivered ahead of time, expected at Christmas or 1 quarter 2022, so very happy about that 🙂
  38. Believe it or not, after trying the shaft from a pop rivet, (strong, smooth and exactly the right thickness), with a lucky shake the cylinder finally came out. Only took nearly a week! Trying it our on the bench after removing it, it was clear that the catch was not moving very far, and whatever I was trying in the hole wasn't hitting the right spot. But never mind, it's out. Right, so now it's a question of what is actually wrong, as you can see from the key and cylinder video, they are not jamming at all. Looks like the cylinder is jamming at the steering lock point I think, unless it's the ignition switch at the far end. I might try and remove that next before taking out the barrel. Stop Press : ignore comment about video as the file size is too large.
  39. Very nicely done. In contrast to the white, got mine sorted too.
  40. I think tape over crimped wiring may be the standard factory approach to connecting the rear ABS wiring into the main loom. It's wrongly assumed to be a dry area. I'll see if I can find some photos of a Mk1 where this point was discovered to be the source of an ABS fault.
  41. Again a few steps further, ****load of work. Now amplifier allignement and graphics work. Lots of sanding of plexi edges and mount programmable leds. Than time for the cover panel.

I picked up my Race Blue Petrol vRS today ordered at the end of march so 9 months wait , it was worth the wait so far , nice chunk cash back from dealer as well ( equity from previous vRS ) happy days
  43. Roof racks are economy killers - mine with 4 bikes on it to stir up the air is nearly as bad for economy as towing the box trailer. I got fed up with (over)loading the car for holidays with roof rack, towbar bike rack and bags rammed everywhere. When we got a springer spaniel that was the final push needed to get the trailer for all the other crap so he could travel in the boot. Now we have a pretty much empty, comfortable car and all the crap is in the mobile shed behind. When we get to the holiday let I just unhitch it and job done. FWIW I have never thought I needed more torque with the 280, and that's with doing a fair bit of towing where would notice a lack of torque. My dad had a Volvo 5 pot diesel that were known for torque - I drove that a fair bit and the 280 would kick its arse.
  44. GTE arrived on Thursday, can’t wait to get stuck in with the mods on this!
  45. Saddened to read this - your Superb knowledge has helped many over the 8 months. Are you allowed to tell us what 'electrical gremlins' caused you to end your Superb affair....?
  46. So that's a 'take it to VW' next time any servicing is due, is it not Illiteratus? Sounds like someone at Skoda Aus. needs retraining.
  47. Mike - You are truly amazing! A sincere BIG thank you for these. They have already helped me removing the trim we spoke of yesterday and I'm sure they will continue to assist not only me but many others here at Briskoda. 5 Huge Gold Stars from me......I'm sure many others will feel the same! My very best regards......Tony
