  1. A new brochure has been published by Skoda UK At first glance appears some specs or options have been updated, presumably as orders move to MY23 cars https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/0bcfc2d5-654f-49b2-a524-91e141293e36
  2. Passing atlas a400
  3. Check the fuse panel. My old A6 had 'sided' fuses for headlamps and rearlamps...
  4. No need to send info... That's your business... I was just wondering if it was things that might be obtained in different ways.
  5. The Hollywood method, works on all vehicles. You reach under the dashboard by feel while looking over the top furtively, grab hold of the convenient placed cable bundle and pull down hard, they are specially designed to break and 2 of them will self strip the insulation from their ends at the same time, you touch the wires together creating a pyrotechnic confirmation flash and the engine will start, you must remember to give a smug smile to disable the immobiliser and steering lock. Next week, how to set off the fire sprinkler system in an entire building by using the break glass switch.
  6. So, not that I should need to explain myself, but to settle the questions people appear to have and think I’m weird/odd for having issues with the leather and why not just order a higher or lower spec, I am disabled, the car is on the motability scheme, I’m restricted to what I’m allowed to have and for those about to start calling me a sponge or similar, heard it all before, but I have to pay something like £8k upfront to get the vehicle to any kind of spec, that’s £4K for base model, it’s no different to the rest of you who lease or buy vehicles on pcp thats why
  7. Wasn't just me that thought of that then, Lee.
  8. On the later KESSY fobs the key part is also used to open up the fob to change the battery, instead of the previous method of butchering it with screwdrivers.
  9. You might find that your car or house insurance covers you for lost keys.
  10. As the title says. Picked up my '19 plate Sportline Plus from the dealer yesterday. Nice drive back. Parked up quickly today as entered a space with traffic passing - managed to kerb both nearside wheels in doing so. 19" Vegas scratched to ****. I am a very unhappy man.
  11. Just called the dealer... parts in transit, no idea of ETA (which knowing what the supply chain is like I am not surprised). Have been told 100% of parts & 70% of labour are covered. Just a waiting game now.
  12. Sounds like you've been unlucky, IMO. I've found that the DSG VAG cars I've driven at work are rather good, besides one Golf, but that's beside the point.
  13. Thanks all for the help I'm thinking it's a brake rubbing at the back either disc pad or handbrake along those lines could be effecting mpg too aswell as the lack of a recent service I'm getting it in a garage this next week and il update with the outcome appreciate all the helps it seems to have aimed me in the right direction so fingers crossed 🤞🏼:)
  14. No more than £20k and ideally a lot less. Caddy is too big unfortunately, as is Sharan/Alhambra. Karoq is the ideal size but can't get past the co-pilot comfort issues. Out of interest and completely off-topic, any idea what DSG version is in the 1.6tdi Karoq? Dealer was telling us it was the wet clutch but I thought it was the same DQ200 as all the others.
  15. Hi all Just a quick question i bought a 2008 Skoda Fabia 1.2 Htp with 185,000 miles with some service history im wondering if i need to replace the timing chain at 200,000 miles? i cant see when or if its ever been changed, it drives & runs really good

The possibility that it would all have to close down, everyone leave & the flags even going to half mast.
  17. Hi Peter. One additional consideration to add is ride height. The vRS has a lower ride height and snugger seats, which make getting in an out more difficult. For most people, this isn't any kind of issue, but for older people, or people with difficulties, such differences can become issues. These issues can become compounded, for example when getting out of the car onto a slippery surface or when the car is parked facing uphill. As the other guys said, test both and see which you prefer. TBH, I think you'd be better off with an Octavia Scout, by the sound of it.
  18. A UK MOT would not be an issue, you would just remove it when going in for a test. An insurance Loss Adjuster / Accident Investigator / Police Officer might be interested if there was some accident not even if your fault. 'Styling and Car care' seems to be the wrong section as that is not styllee or even fugly in a nice way IMO. Nobody has ever failed a Land Rover / Jeep or whatever for having a spare wheel / tyre on the bonnet. But really why? Stylee, doing a long range event? Why not get a good string roof carrier and get it up there. Strengthen the hinges, strengthen the bonnet catch & do you plating under the bonnet and get a good bonnet stays fitted or assisters. Pity you do not have this model.
  19. For info we originally wanted an SEL but finished up with an SE as we found a deal too good to miss and decided we could do without the extras, although ours does have heated seats which are a must with my herniated disc in my back. A year on we're happy with it and don't miss the SEL spec. SWMBO would prefer an electric tailgate but having seen some of the problems with them I'm glad we have a manual one.
  20. Could you not fit seat covers?
  21. Sounds like the crown wheel and pinion, well whatever the equivalent differential drive gear is called in the FWD setup. I'm sure I have read of catastrophic failures where the transmission case has fractured when things make a bid for freedom and photos showing the parts that had caused the meltdown, bolts or rivets securing the planet wheel carrier to the crown wheel perhaps? My rationale is that the noise is only under load and in all gears which rules out mainshaft or layshaft bearings. I'm sure someone will recall with detail what I only have a vague recollection of. I know how embarrasing it is to have pedestrians turn around and wince while you are trying to isolate and diagnose the cause of the noise.
  22. @TeeDeeEyei never said that I would hand back the car sans leather seat. On the contrary, I am looking for the seat(s) would change it and then after 3 years replace it back to original for return, or 5 years if I decided to extend the vehicle contract alternatively I could purchase the car after 3 or 5 years
  23. Unsure what you mean that it’s odd not to be able to travel in leather seats! Why is it odd? Some people are left handed, some people are lactose intolerant, some people are allergic to certain things, are all of those people odd? i have bought cars and hired cars with leather interior, I have travelled as a passenger in cars with leather interior, and I get sick, travel sickness, apparently it’s a form of motion sickness, which some people used to experience when using iPhones, I’m sorry that this makes me odd in your opinion, I’m also sorry that your opinion doesn’t really count to me either sadly the rest of your post was lost on me
  24. So you're claiming that, with no other modifications than one tank of "premium" fuel blend, the car overfuelled less?
  25. I’d run a quote for both tbh. I paid £220 to insure my vRS this year. I’d be surprised if an SEL was that much cheaper. But I don’t know for sure. Id also test both. The vRS isn’t some rock hard, track focused weapon. I don’t find the ride bone shattering.
  26. @roottoot does the following link cover this or is the page just more of a PR exercise? - https://www.skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions
  27. Easiest and probably most accurate information is to read, and when required refer to, the Driver's Handbook (Owners Manual), if you do this you could know more about the car than some long term owners. If you haven't got the printed paper copy then you can download a pdf copy from the following link. It's not always in the best English but it will tell you about your car, Dr Google can often throw up errors and misunderstandings. - https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models Again read the Owner's Manual and you'll find exactly what it is and how to set it, it sounds to me as possibly someone else has set this this and you've not turned off or altered their setting. Driving using cruise control or automatic cruise control isn't always the most economical way to drive sometimes a driver might do better. Remapping might be more fashionable than productive, timely servicing, maintenance and repairs are the best form of tuning for the whole car (and not just the engine) and really must be done before any further tuning will be fully effective. You can't fully progress unless the basic foundations of timely servicing, maintenance and repairs have properly fully been dealt with. Another good tuning process for any vehicle is driver training, and it's mostly transferable to other vehicles. Most men have too much ego to think of further driving training. As you know cars are dirty things but diesel is particularly dirty so you want to keep things as clean as reasonably possible for the car to run well and last well. As with computers GIGO (garbage in garbage out) with cars SISO so you want as clean as possible going in. This is from having a good air filter condition, perhaps occasionally using the more expensive Premium diesel fuels which offer additional lubrication and cleaning agents and to have timely changes of engine oil and filter. My wife's previous car was a diesel, our one and only, the very few times I refuelled it I put in the more expensive cleaner fuel and when I floored it from low revs off a roundabout I'd see a big grey cloud in the rearview mirror instead of a big thick black cloud of **** with ordinary diesel fuel so I follow my experience rather than what others tell me. Even using this as the car done a lot of short journeys it still needed good long runs on motorway/dual/fast A-roads to give it clear out runs. Sustained higher speeds/revs than usual. If you're worried about mpg do remember to give some latitude to the mpg dash readout figures especially as you're driving along. Confirm the car's figures for tank refill by how many miles since the previous fill (subject to both being to a full tank, first click of the station fuel pump) divided by how many litres it takes to refill the tank. If you want mpg divide the litres by 4.546 to get the number of gallons (4.546 litres to one UK gallon). Good luck.
  28. There is a cover that needs popping off on one of the front door locks to allow for emergency access. 🔑
  29. I had the same once in my monte hitting the 120 ""kph"" limiter in 4th gear (I was bored). Lift off and you could just see these red embers flitting out behind me. Cars fine obviously. Basically an Italian tune up, clearing out any bits of stuck on carbon.
  30. With that level of click-bait-ness for both title and thumbnail, I'm not surprised.
  31. Short answer, 'no'. Long answer is one or several books long. Couple of facts, max mpg occurs at an incredibly low speed ie 20, 30 or at most 40 mph. Small engines, being pushed to 100 mph or more may well richen up to protect itself rather than overheat key parts. Aero is the most important factor over about 50 mph. I miss my old Audi A4 which seem to be doing over 60 mpg at legal and more and with the biggish tank could do almost a thousand miles with its 130 hp 1.9 pd engine. As to efficiency and cheap to run my Zoe is on another level costing about 1.4p a mile where as my 1. 4 TDI must be around 14p a mile with diesel at £2 a litre. Hypermilng on road and track is a real skill and different drivers in the same car can make several percentage points difference.
  32. Hi Neil, I am new too on this forum. Congratulations on your new car. Have a good weekend and good luck with EGR repair, I hope it will the last issue for you with the Superb!
  33. It's probably soot deposits in the cat getting burnt off, best not to mention speeds on here or the safety police tend to show up, I too drive very fast but you won't get me to admit to just how fast... You'll never take me alive copper!
  34. Not even a Soft Roader let alone an off-roader. It is tyres and wheels that first need to survive potholes.
  35. Your missus isnt wrong haha Love the Bilt-Hamber products. They do work and are really budget friendly. I have the auto-wash, Surfex HD, cleanser polish, korrosol and the clay bar. I am still figuring out/optimising the meintenance wash and enjoying the process. I find washing my car therapeutic. Used the clay for the first time on my hood a few washes ago and I could feel the difference. I do want to give the vRS to a pro polisher tho. It does have alot of swirls that show on the black paint and probably wont go away with hand polishing or glazes. I really want that deep-wet-black-mirror look
  36. If it's any consolation I bought mine for a good chunk more
  37. Not sure if I’ve put this on yet but I’ve now fitted a roof rack and bike holders (Yakima flush bars in black and Thule ProRide mounts) My 1.4 iV SEL estate in petrol blue with optional wheels (still 17 as I wanted comfort but the standard wheels are awful).
  38. Cheers very helpful 😃👍 but what a pain eh its obvious people need to disconnect the battery at some point or renew or recharge it when flat. i really do wish for the return of analogue cars without all this computerised digital crap in them. could work on them and do anything but not anymore. these garages must be laughing their socks off now these days knowing most things need a special diagnostic tool or coder to sort any problems out. 😠😠
  39. Don't put your address on the advert, the finder might pop round to see if the key works!🤔
  40. For my mk2 I purchased a compatible blank (using part number to match the frequency) and then got my mechanic to program it to the car. Not sure if he used odis or vag or whatever but it's the proper system I believe. The blank would then just need cutting, but about £10 for the blank, maybe same again for cutting and whatever cost to program.
  41. Have you checked with the local Police Station as the key may be handed in there if someone found it? It's probably a long shot, but it may be worth an entry on somewhere like nextdoor and offering a decent reward, say £50, as that's a lot less than paying for a new key! Make sure you don't disclose your address though, otherwise you may lose your car as well as your key!
  42. Fitted a cable thingy that means I no longer have to remember to disable start/stop. Package even came with a little trim removal tool. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003368450925.html << for those interested.

Skoda Phoenix Orange in very bright sunlight. The colour ranges from almost yellow to a bronze in lowlight. I think its a "marmite" colour, but im done with "50 shades of grey" 😳 For the last 12 years I have had black, silver and grey, all neutrals.
  45. No, sorry. The rattle still happens very occasionally but usually only when its cold. The dealer said at the time they wouldn't like to say if any investigation work would be covered under warranty so I didn't take it any further. Dare I say it; the car has been great for several months now!

I have worked 5 years in a powder paint shop.I will say that the most rims from early 90s are powder painted.I think I have powder painted 1000+ rims in my life, maybe 1% bubbled, and had to be sandblasted.

I'm new to Skoda. In the past I've owned Audi, Seat, Hyundai and other makes. So far, I'm very happy with the Karoq. The dealer let me know that there was a facelifted Karoq on the horizon for 2022. I chose to order an existing model on the system rather than wait until next year. The car was ordered at the end of October. I was kept informed of its travel from the factory, to Emden (Germany), and then over to the UK. I collected it on 29th November. During the decision-making process I've been reading through all the information on this site and found it very useful. I've also watched dozens of Youtube videos on the Karoq. There seems to be quite a bit of variation in what comes supplied with Karoqs, depending on age and trim level. My car is a 71 plate (MY22) Sport Line 1.5 TSI DSG in metallic Race Blue on 19" wheels. The things it came with included: Amundsen infotainment screen Sport Line flat-bottomed steering wheel Panoramic glass sunroof Tinted privacy glass on the rear windows DSG paddle shifters on the steering wheel 2 x USB-C sockets in the front Wireless mobile phone charging pad in the front next to the USB-C sockets Umbrella in a drawer underneath the front passenger seat Ice scraper inside the petrol filler flap Cargo nets in the boot Luggage dividers / fasteners in the boot 2 x shopping bag hooks in the boot Skoda cuddly lion on the dashboard : ) (see photo) There was no torch in the boot. I'm led to believe the torch was discontinued a while ago. I've attached some photos, taken on the day I collected the car. Looking at the latest information on the 2022 facelifted Karoq it looks like Skoda won't be offering the new model in Race Blue. Cheers PJ

    208kW (280hp) and 470Nm (345 lb-ft) + damp dirt roads = lots of fun! Here's a few photos of my grubby Sportline
