After reading about supply chain issues (and feeling like my current car was running like a bag of nails again) I called my dealer for the first time since I ordered in Nov. I’d been given a build week of early Sept. It seems the car is on its way to Germany so I have my fingers crossed. He seemed to think it could be 2/3 weeks til collection 🤞🏻 (1.5 TSI Hatchback)
  2. Just one thing to remember if you have not taken it into consideration yet, when you are connecting/disconnecting main cables, you will probably be wakening up ALL that car's controllers, so for a shortish period after making a change, the drain current will be higher - and then drop off as controllers are put to sleep. That means, when checking things over a short period of time, you might not actually be seeing any change or at least the changes that you are hoping to see.
  3. family woodland walk on sunday, spud jr was chatting about how tall the trees are, managed to sneak this before they moved. nearly got it perfect (if the tree top was in it too) but not bad for the 2seconds of setup time i had!

There's also news concerning mine: the dealer called this morning - they have the car since yesterday evening. This morning they requested the documents (temporary registration of the car) and if all goes without glitches I should be able to pick it up this Saturday. So the car's trip from completion @factory (August 31st) to the dealer was ~27 days, plus a few more days to the end-user. All-in-all, it's been 13+ months between order and delivery, so I can't complain if I think about a few other members here waiting for more than 14 months and still counting... ☹️
  5. Your DSG was not due a Oil change. As a 40,000 mile schedule. Software updates / enhancements are part of a Main Dealer Service if they show when the car is plugged in for the Diagnostic Check which shows as part of a service, or if there is a TPI. Maybe the car is not plugged in, the same as Wheels are not removed, or a car is actually road tested. So anyway it is not unusual that the Service Desk reception person knows nothing so can tell you nothing other than maybe about some up-selling they would like to do as they are trained to do. Best use a good independent to service your vehicle. One with licensed equipment and more than ideas. Maybe even one that is a Dealer for Remapping / Tuning companies. Often Dealership Ex Master Techs, .................................... In Green how it was. and with some still how it is. Actually do stuff and not just look and report, or not report/

Hello! Good news. My car, that was actually built on week 36 (instead of planned 37), arrived yesterday to the dealer. So that's 18 days from production to the dealer (Spain). I will be picking it up next Thursday/Friday. It's been a 15 months wait. Cant't wait to see it.

Just been given a build week of week 42 😃
  8. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. What you want - Handbrake for automatic transmission. From the (05.2017) Owner's Manual - (ETA: if for some reason you haven't got the printed paper copy of the Owner's Manual you can get a PDF copy from the following link. -https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models )
  9. Every day is a school day 😉
  10. Last time I made a similar knob-up it was the other way round, tried to measure volts straight across the battery with the meter probe in the 20A current socket. Big phut! Fuse inside the meter and a neighbouring bit of track both blew! 😁
  11. @colinstubbs, you're plugged into the Volts, Ohms, Hertz socket, I'd go into the 600 mA socket on the bottom left if I were you...
  12. A screenshot for you. Car is in reverse, and the owner manual seems to be telling you to have the handbrake applied from what I can tell. Are you parking the car in P or R, and applying the handbrake as the manual tells you to?
  13. It's a fair point with limited/individual disconnections, but at the level of 'all strip fuses and blade fuses removed from battery fusebox', none of the car's controllers can possibly be awake. The only thing left with any power is the starter motor, as far as I can see.
  14. Ye see took delivery of ours on Saturday I can get pictures of the three different modes if you like but the two displays on left and right if the speed shown in the picture. It’s not a bad alternative to the virtual cockpit (we ordered ours pre MY23 without VC)
  15. Thanks for responses. I guess it’s 4 winters or none then!
  16. Looking at the wiring diagrams that Black/Red wire from the switch (A18) goes to the ABS 26 pin connector pin 16, BCM 52 pin (Brown connector) pin 17, Trailer detection unit (If fitted) pin 3 and the ECU pin 33 as seen in your attached picture, the BCM outputs the signal to the rear lights so it doesn't go direct from the switch unit
  17. Thank you for your advice. I will check it out tomorrow. Regarding the 3rd brake light, I discovered there was different readings with my multimeter at the connector just today. I measured DC and had to wiggle the connection to get 12,4 V DC. I noticed a bend in the ground wire, cut it and replaced the bad part. Deleted fault code, but nothing. Brake lights now was always on until the fault returned after a few minutes.
  18. One from this evening (from behind the disused car wash at a local petrol station!). Also came across this in the car park of a local garden centre - not sure if it is a cherry of some description?

Someone will be along to help. ? Who put in the new battery, and when? Was the new battery coded?
  20. Fitted my diy shifter bushes. Feel great and if I'm honest they're a nicer job than what I did to the Monte with tigerseal. Got them adjusted, 6th is a bit stiff but other than that I'm very happy. Gaskets came in all genuine from the dealership. Turbo on, easy enough to hang the gasket on the studs. Intake manifold was a bit tricky because it doesn't have studs to mount the gasket on, so used zip ties to hold it in place temporarily. Took a snap down one of the intake ports, looks good considering the miles and having recently had blown turbo oil chucked down it. Left it at this for tonight. Most likely will get it running tomorrow.
  21. I had it plugged in and read for codes yesterday, it had no codes on it but there’s clearly a problem. I had the coil packs and plugs done 18 months ago so plugs are probably due, but I think the engine warning light came up when they failed last time
  22. Final update. Bought module as per part number above. £156 from Skoda. Got a garage to swap it and all is working now. So...If anybody's seat stop working and you have a presumably dodgy version B of the seat module... It is likely it if everything else checks out.

Might give that a bash this evening. Got a couple of apps I'd like on my computer.
  24. Car was in for a 4 year (major) service ('18 plate), I don't believe the DSG oil was due a change yet as the car only has 25K miles. The person I spoke to was the service desk person, seemed to be the only person there anyway as I was collecting at the end of the day after work. I assume firmware updates aren't normally done automatically during Skoda main dealer services?
  25. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. Shows the power of a couple of clear photos. I once tried sorting a windscreen wiper motor, drive mechanism and park position when I had a cold and couldn't work it out and had the bonnet being wiped before I could stop it (yes that is possibly, it wasn't a Fabia). But there again I've had an electrical tester set up wrong when I was perfectly well and didn't realise until I got too many fails. I always test rather than taking someone's word for it after being told a mains socket was live and it wasn't (only dead socket in the room) and check the testing equipment after spending an hour looking for a leak that was on the test equipment I'd been lent. No real knowledge but some experiences.
  26. I will say this one last time, all four pins are required! In this instance, the "According to equipment" is because some models will have an "all in one" headunit with nothing in the glovebox area. If the screen is part of the headunit, there is no need for a external wire connecting them For more evidence, take a look at this ebay item: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133253480589 It has the same part number but clearly has all four pins:
  27. Now you certainly have cause for complaint. At the very least the excess should be waived.
  28. 🧐😮😮😮😮😮Oh man have I made a ridiculous schoolboy error with an unfamiliar multimeter I've borrowed?.... Having just looked at it again it even flashes a green ring round the sockets I should be using FFS!!! Didn't notice them in the sun yesterday. Did I mention my brain was feeling fuzzy?? So I could be chasing an issue that doesn't actually exist. I really should have stayed indoors yesterday. 🙄🥴🤨 Thanks for pointing that out though!!
  29. Note that on some models the action described by Tilt will also change the car from variable to fixed service and can only be changed back by Skoda and perhaps by VCDS or similar. In the handbook for my facelift model it states: "Resetting Service Interval Display It is only possible to reset the Service Interval Display, if a service message or at least a pre-warning is shown in the instrument cluster display." Resetting is the last menu action provided by the stalk/knob inside the speedo If you have the optional multi function display, you can use that.
  30. Currently on 215/40 17s The standard setting for this was "1" for "Heavy vehicles" (pic related comes up when I try change it in vcds) Went through all the settings 1-6 and 2 is the heaviest from what I can feel. Really don't want to be farting about changing wheels but I may end up going that route if I feel I need to.
  31. Get well soon mate. I had my first cold in 2.5 years last week, still not 100%. Again, be very careful if disconnecting the main positive feed to the starter motor, that one is not fused at all, it's direct to the positive battery clamp, so it's the most dangerous one to have waving about loose unless battery negative clamp is off the battery post.
  32. @DieselMonte are you still on 205/40 r 17,s or have you gone to 215,s ? I read your on Sport is that the least assistance on your car? ,...,.,...., Different Mk2, vRS or Monte by age have different ways to change, Some GTI some another name / code. Winter tyres, or narrower i reduced assistance. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/236545-power-steering-adjustment http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/294303-vcds-steering-assist-polo-gti-setting http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/318138-vcds-steering-settings
  33. That doesn’t look bad at all, looks much better there than it does on the Skoda website! I have a VC in my current Octavia and only ever have it on the setting which replicates dials and never use the map screen etc so this set up will be fine!
  34. That's really not far off VC at all - if I'd know that was coming/my car was going to take so long I'd probably not have paid the extra for VC!
  35. @Waylon - oh dear!! Wat made u think a LED matrix headlight with sequential indicators would b plug n play with a non-LED non-Matrix non-sequential indicators headlight!?!?!?! Assuming u have a pre-facelift, have u also purchased the following:- - new facelift bumper, which includes facelift grille and foglights? - new AFS module and Light Control Modules (x2) for - do u have 4B multifunction module? - do u have the parameter file for the 4B module? - component protection? EDIT - I just realised u have a facelift already. Ignore everything I said above.
  36. I don't understand why it isn't. You can buy petrol with an app on your phone at somewhere like Esso, once you state your pump number, or you stick your card into the pump at say a Tesco or similar. It's not rocket science
  37. I found the company by searching my E_mails airbagteam.com Highly highly recommended and I don't give that accolade lightly. You probably already understand but for the benefit of anyone else reading, after an accident with an airbag deployment officially the airbag control module has to be replaced, it will no longer function, however companies like the above can remove the crash data and reinitialise the module which makes it as good as new.
  38. I was asked, but didn’t go for it as no one guaranteed it would actually be faster.
  39. It's incredibly rare on the lower powered cars like the OP's, it doesn't make enough torque to damage a wet paper bag...
  40. The noise comes from sound generator and not the infotainment speakers. It's a seperate box under the windshield wipers... At least that's what the mk3 forum says..
  41. Rad fan upgrade! I thought my fan was getting tired, turned out it was rubbing on something! But I found this from @ccc_motorsport and it looked cool so I ordered one. Much thinner and several kg lighter than the factory one. Of course Rusty fought me, one of the bolts snapped when I tried to remove it. Sigh.
  42. I don't think two weeks is particularly unreasonable. Grumbling about things they're not happy with is what grumpy middle-aged men like me do. The BBC even made a series about it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0071jtx/episodes/guide If you think moaning about slow service on a car forum is ranting and raving, you clearly haven't seen someone rant and rave. Perhaps you're not married? 😋
  43. Unless the side window is broken by someone breaking into the car they don't often break. Even less reason for glass replacement companies to hold stock.
  44. Coming back towards the original topic, I was surprised over the weekend as to how much impact load and road type has on the fuel economy of my 1.5TSi. About 10-15% worse with four up and boot full on rural roads mix of single and dual carriageway compared to two on board and boot less full with predominantly motorway running. Are EVs and hybrids similarly impacted or does the energy recovery make up for some of it?

Got messed about by the last guy for weeks on end so sacked him off. Dropped it off with another mate while I went to Turkey and picked it up yesterday. £700 lighter but cills have been re-made, all the holes in the roof welded up (police aerials and roof rails). He then dropped it off with another mate to do the mot and oil change. It's also had 2 new front wishbone bushes (rear ones) and I've had to put 2 rear shocks on as the 8 month old stance+ are absolutely shot so a warranty claim will be going in for them! Looks like I'll be keeping this one a while.
  46. OP, I have noticed that my 2015 VRS does the same. I'm going to get mine in soon for a DSG service. I suspect the gear selected is partially done by load, if you are cruising it will drop down to save fuel and if demand is low. It doesn't annoy me but occasionally I've found myself having to press the accelerator more and accelerate more than I needed because it drops down. I agree you shouldn't have to monitor revs for regular driving. I do find the box a bit dim-witted at times too, there's two areas on my commute whereby I hit a hill, the first is at 40mph and although it copes OK in 5th I like to be more prepared for the speed increase after so blip the down shift paddle to drop to 4th which keeps in 4th long enough to be able to accelerate. The second is a longer hill with speedbumps, it tries to change up from 2nd to 3rd, then back down to 2nd, back up to 3rd. I might switch it to manual and see if it improves this. I agree the difference between Eco and Normal is not enough and the difference between Normal and VRS mode is gigantic. Normal needs a bit more pep, maybe stay around 1800-2000 RPM. It also can't do the clutch packs any good accelerating from too low a RPM or constantly changing.
  47. Hello from Kaohsiung, Taiwan! My Octavia Combi MK4 in graphite grey.
  48. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. Any other symptoms/issues you've noticed with the car, any other codes. That one code in itself doesn't tell you a lot, have a read to the end of that article and see if that brings up more info. - https://www.700r4transmissionhq.com/p2096-volkswagen-golf/ ETA: what was done at the service a couple of months ago, has the air filter been changed?
