After 474 days (since July 202.... finally have my car: Black RS, panorama roof, Canton, RS Plus pack (DCC, front assist). Have updated the spreadsheet
  2. I always put the date in as my serial number i.e. 02112022 if today. That serves me 2 things 1) it's the change in serial number required and 2) by reading the parameter it's a handy reminder of how old the battery is
  3. On close inspection the locking nut cover will have a larger raised diameter tucked down in the wheel bolt hole counterbore. I can never see which is which unless I kneel down with my face level with the axle.
  4. Pull all the black plastic covers off on one wheel, you should find 4 'normal' bolts and one security bolt - unless Skoda Israel decided to delete that important item.
  5. Make sure they haven't forgotten to re-code the new battery.
  6. Just a little project thread showing the SE my partner bought back in June 2018, Fabia vRS SE #532. Only a few subtle changes here and there since then. This was when she first picked it up and we decided to take both the Fabia’s for a drive:
  7. Hi Natasha, thank you for your message (and to everyone else who I hadn't seen until just now). Here is the update: - We had taken it to a few local mechanics who generally refused to come anywhere near the gearbox. However, one of our mechanics (after a while of trial-and-error with what could be the problem), 'resetted' the electrics or something like that. I haven't looked at the invoice because my dad was the one who got it repaired, whilst I focused on my other new car purchase to take to work. The repairs cost a total of £350. Since then (last week), I have been taking my car to work as normal! I used to have some level of trauma with it, fearing it would break down any second....but thankfully - it hasn't! I'm almost 'sold' again in keeping the car - but alas, I have put it up for sale because the 1.0L is just not really fun anymore. One thing I noticed is that - the LAST time it broke down, I popped the bonnet open to diagnose what could be the problem - and in doing that (perhaps), the permanent sign (when it breaks down) disappeared and the car re-started as it did in the initial temporary break down. So I thought it could be due to the very cold night that day, which cooled the engine down whilst the bonnet was open for about 10 minutes. Hopefully that could come in clutch (pun not intended) in the future if it does happen again. But thank you to everyone else who replied with their advice and technical help and whatnot. It was indeed a VERY stressful thing - especially with Skoda charging over £130 for just a diagnostic, alongside a potential major fix. @Natasha84 if you are local to Reading, do let me know and our mechanic would take it look at it for free - it may be the exact same problem! But meawhile, I'll see if I can somehow retrieve the invoice for it or find out actually what the mechanic did to it. But my dad told me he spent a good ~5 hours fixing it and charged a discounted fee of around £350 including labour. I hope that was of any help. Cheers everyone.
  8. Hi, my name is Kate, and I'm new to here and Skodas. My son has just bought himself a 2010 Fabia, nice little car. I've joined the forum, not him, as it's me that does all the spanner work in our house. As I said, new to Skodas, but not new to VAG, having had many VW's in our house over the years, aircooled and water cooled. I always join forums for the extra insight ind tips you can't get out of a workshop manual.
  9. Maybe time to not deviate too much from the main objectives of the thread?
  10. Yep, I hear your point and I've considered it, both ways are a gamble to be honest.. Ive found a company, PSR direct (lion automotive effectively) who will either recon my own rack or supply me with a reconditioned rack they have already. Same price either way, £313 Inc vat and collect/delivery. It comes with a 2 year warranty (30k miles per year) Obvs there's still the labour to remove/fit on that. However, it's significantly cheaper than the cheapest new rack I could find (£605+vat) and comes with at least some assurance over a scrapped one from ebay. 🤷‍♂️
  11. Me too They've got that je ne sais quoi about them 😎 Gaz
  12. Yes Gentlemen, the R7 relay (mine now is 4H0951253) had nothing to do with engine start (fuel pymp for example) because with this relay missing the car starts-revs-travel without problem, except that you don't have lights (you have high beam signal)-wipers. After all hese years with problem in heavy rainy days now the problem with tthe INT rear wiper solved for 15 euros. The 6U0955529 AEV 2015 relay works ''plug and play" and no need for something else, keep in mind that it's height in bigger that the other relays so it may need to stand aside some cables which are beneath the passengers storage compartment.
  13. Very similar to the car I collected Monday, so I commend your taste 🤣🤣 I was told by the dealer that once the engine cover situation is sorted, owners who were supplied with a car but no engine cover will be contacted and free retro fit done. re the ice scraper, I noticed when I filled up on the way home from the dealers that it was missing. Decided to go home and see if I could find it elsewhere, and it was in the glovebox inside the cardboard container with the manual in it. enjoy the car!

yes in closer look, only front wheel drive
  15. As promised, some pics of my detailing job these lasts days: The glossy black door covers, always very scratch sensitive: Before: After: Top part of the passenger door (it's a LHD ): Before: After: Not very easy to "catch" the swirls with a camera... But these 2 examples are very representative of the improvement. Other pics with complete view coming soon...
  16. IMO this is probably one of the best and worst water pumps ever made. The effect it has on making the cabin warm in winter compared to the older engines is incredible (coupled with the rest of the complicated cooling system), You can fit water pumps without the sleeve but I think its worth the risk in having the sleeve and going OEM with the possibility of being less reliable
  17. Hi, SportLine 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG 190KM 2018 replaced with Scout 2022 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG 200KM

    Welcome Marek, looks nice 🙂
  19. @R_Blue : do me a big favour, the next Felicia owner that you find in the street grap him and ask him with serious look ''what's your cold start time? What's your fuel consumption in a city traffic?'' If he is hesitating tell him that is a matter of national security and must answer otherwise will face the consequenses.
  20. Hello Kate and welcome. 🙂 Which engine type has the car got?
  21. Use white lithium spray grease. If you look under the car from behind each wheel arch you can see the bushes and you can reach under and spray them. In my car (1.4tsi) you can access the passenger side from the engine bay as well. Just saturate the bushes with spray.
  22. On another note. Your project thread is what made me go ahead and do it... Just not in a pit made for trucks haha
  23. Sorry that i did not respond to this anymore, problem solved the turbo was damaged, needed replacing due to spiners damaged.

New reg and a quick shot from a local meet. Will be doing some updates soon. One of which is a new boot release with built-in pop up camera. Will post on here when done.
  25. Refurbed 312’s and 256’s by BiggRed in Worcester.
  26. If they did an auto/DSG, I'd have one too 😢 G
  27. @toeis it just a 2 years manufacturers warranty with Skoda in Ireland? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/506325-kodiaq-overheating-at-random/page/2
  28. Thanks Both, I'd already sent a quick message to the dealer so I'll see what they say but sounding like it's something I'm going to just have to get used to. Real shame as other than that (and the odd software hiccup) I'm loving the car. @stephen1612 I thought about getting the brakes bled too but having tried pumping the brakes a couple of times while stationary there is no obvious change in pressure which I believe is the tell-tale sign of air in the system. (I'm certainly no mechanic) Ho hum, fingers crossed after a few more miles it might tighten up a little,
  29. Lol the penny has just dropped for you. Great chap is Lofty
  30. Nice build thread and good progress with it. 😎

I ordered an Octavia 1.4 IV SE technology solid blue. No optional extras. Ordered January 2022. Dealer updated to let me know I should receive the car June 2023 at the earliest. Ridiculous wait times. No build date yet either.
  32. Watched it over 4 hours ago before posting the link. Then a phone in on BBC Scotland with Kaye Adam had the discussion on EV's and some positive and some negative experiences. Again Broxden Park & Ride Perth was criticised. Rightly so. Perth & Kinross Council have got away to long with the facility there being pathetic for the Gateway to the Highlands, and major tourist destination and way place & where P&K seemingly want a Low Carbon Hub to be. Then after posting the link i went to the empty Tesco charging bays, well other than the 1 driver charging that i asked if he knew he was paying for it. He unplugged and did not bother plugging back in for another 15 minutes. I had 2 x 15 minutes charging and that was 3 kWh of a charge which was what i needed to top back up the 6 miles driven since last charged and a cold night with a 5*oC this morning. That would be 28 pence for 3 kWh so 84 pence. As the weather gets much colder that might double in cost per day if needing to pay. Local Council chargers still @ 23 pence a kWh but going to be busy now and the latest one installed still has a barrier around it weeks after being powered up, and still not on the system with CPS but means that charging can be done for free. PS. On that EV forum there seems to be people unaware of loans in Scotland to be used EV's.
  33. I read there's an iPlayer video on EV's in Scotland. In case you haven't seen it: https://www.speakev.com/threads/good-documentary-on-evs-in-scotland.173305/ https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001dvbc/disclosure-series-5-6-electric-cars-ready-for-the-charge I've yet to watch it.......
  34. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/262215-list-of-vcds-owners-previously-known-as-vag-com-vcp-owners/ It might be just as well to locate someone with newer VCDS to scan the car, or weigh up the cost of buying one yourself (at the cost of labour, it could pay for itself very quickly)
  35. I did wonder about seeing if I could have it coded out but I'm a bit reluctant to start interfering (or to be more precise, have someone else interfere) with the coding on a new car. Given the reports of software issues, should I get any problems in the future I don’t want Skoda turning round and saying it’s my problem as I’ve changed stuff. I was rather hoping I’d missed something obvious that I could just switch off. I’ll just run in either individual ( and no noise) or sport (with noise ) as the mood takes me.

Mine runs cleanly into the ABS plug on both sides. Only one cable feeding into the wheel well.
  37. Hi everyone, I have now driven about 2000 miles since the fix and so far the car has not gone into limp mode again so it looks like the seized flap was the issue and may be something to check for anyone else who gets egr codes. I did however have the engine warning light come on, but it went off after a few restarts of the engine so will have to see if any codes are stored for that. Will give an update when I get time to do so.
  38. Keener lawyers over there.
  39. Looks like they changed the design a bit since I bought mine. Mine doesn't have the purple ring in the centre

Finally - after 18 months from the initial order - I got a VIN number a week ago, the supposed production week was 2 weeks ago. I tried to add the VIN to Skoda Connect but the system doesn’t accept it. I also tried to search for an owners manual by VIN, but with also no results. Many of you guys said before that you could add the VIN immediately after you received it from the dealer, but the exact car itself appeared only a few days later. My dealer said that the car is assembled, they are only waiting for a “completion report status” - but we are waiting for it a week now. Even though, as far as I know there are no missing parts. I’m so sick of this waiting now, specially with the last couple of weeks, since the end is finally on the table, but seems still so unreachable. I can’t see why is so hard to make the wait period transparent, and more pleasant for the customers…
  41. Stevie wonder could do it. 5 minute job tops. Only thing that might be annoying is the vacuum lines being a bit annoying to get off. They should slide off but you might need something to wedge between the pipe and the bit on the n75 itself. Should loosen it up enough to come off.
  42. That’s better! This rotor arm fits. Bought on EBay UK, made in Spain, delivered to New Zealand from Latvia.
  43. Nearly. 100kph = 62.1mph. Gaz
  44. Have to say that 82mpg doesn`t happen very often! Normally in steady moving traffic @ 50mph with good road surface and warm weather in 5th gear over 10-15 miles.....can happen through operation brock on the M20....82mpg is a very rare occurrance but early 70s is more easily achievable!
  45. Do it, and never use the main stealer again!
