  1. As you can gauge from the posts above @varooom, such a choice is widely disagreed with! I would also add my voice to say that your contributions to Briskoda have helped numerous members and would be sorely missed. Hopefully you will reconsider.
  2. if its because of another thread youve been on with me yesterday/today, dont be letting a particular 'member' unable to see outside his own little box for lack of windows get under your skin to that extent 😞
  3. No no no... Don't let idiots wind you up and force you off. You contribute a huge amount to this forum in the form of info and positive responses. Others are the ones that should be retiring!!
  4. Nooooooooooooo. Why? If it's just about other commitments, no worries. Talk to me about it tomorrow, please. 🙂
  5. I'd like to echo what others have said @varooom👍
  6. Seriously? 😳 Illegitimi non carborundum! Gaz
  7. I think the three holes in the second image are the ultrasonic sensors used for interior monitoring/glass break protection by the alarm
  8. I hope you reconsider your decision, as you'll be very much missed as a valued member of the community. Although, if you still are intent on leaving, I wish you the very best in whichever endeavours you participate in. Cheers. 😞

Read this thread And if you don't adapt a battery correctly, this is what could happen (was set to 7Ah rating not 70Ah)
  10. fair point, being mapped it's going to overfuel / smoke more so sooting could be an issue.

got call from dealer, 280ps L&K arrived! ordered 2022. apr, haven't seen yet

My original Varta factory fitted was also stamped WK/YY, so I suspect that the majority of the VAG fitted ones will be stamped. But also a good call as another possible indicator of factory fit. No, I would say you are spot on with the 096 battery size, only some cars with small engines will be using a smaller size/or with less electric gizmo's. I am not sure if the OP is on the path yet of condemning the existing battery, I would also link them to the 096 AGM's with two important notes: It must be adapted to the car, and it needs the fabric cover fitted or suffer a premature death from heat. EFB live roughly twice as long as basic lead acid AGM live roughly three times as long as basic lead acid, weigh up the cost of both and decide (not a whole lot of price difference between the two)

I read in another forum, Banner batteries have the mfg date stamped on top of the negative terminal as per screenshot In this case it was mfg week 42, yr 15
  14. It’s the 150. All 190’s use adblue

That's an original battery supplied by Skoda. Two clues are the part number is a VAG one, 6R0 915 105B and the use of a QR code label on top
  16. Not really because the car is/was at another branch and is in the process of being shipped to my local branch. The other reply I had pointed me in the right direction and luckily I had the VIN number and so got the right manual. It has 1 SD card slot. Thank you anyway. Thank you, found it 🙂
  17. Well after a while away from the fold, I moved back across to Skoda in November last year with purchase of a Fabia Monte Carlo TSi. Used as our second car and insurable for my daughter who had recently passed her test. I was really impressed with the Fabia and it reminded me of my Old 2016 Octavia Scout. That car was deemed a total loss following a fairly reasonable prang in November 2020 when someone pulled out in front of me on a main road. I got a 2018 Kia Sportage after that. Decent car but after 6 months it was sold to buy a car my daughter could learn to drive in. I ended up in an absolute mint 2017 BMW 420d MSport. Had all the toys on it, MSport Pro pack, Pro Nav, Harmon Kardon sound system and it was mint. Absolutely lovely to drive, quick, economical, very good looking it was a lovely car. Was being the key word there. It got written off a week ago (🤬😭) when someone didn’t look, pulled out and hit the front of the car. I still can’t quite believe they’ve written it off, but not much I can do about it. Anyhow with fond memories of my Scout and being so impressed with the Fabia, I found myself at the local Skoda Garage putting a deposit down on a late 2018 Superb Sportline 150TDI DSG in Moonstone white. Great looking car and from what I’ve read a good mix of economy and comfort. Had the 150 TDi in my scout and I was always quite impressed with how it drove, always seeming to have more power that you’d expect. Well that’s quite a long intro to ‘I’ve bought a Superb Sportline’ but I’m quite looking forward to getting it. Are there many on here? Be keen to hear of your 5oughts, although if it’s to bad then maybe keep it to yourself, it’s not been a good week!!
  18. Hi everybody. I haven’t been on this forum for a very long time. I made the original post. I’m glad to see it has been useful for some of you! I see there were questions about whether I bought the kit for 2WD or 4WD. I thought I had bought the kit for 2WD. In any case, my car definitely is a 2WD version. I checked the invoice from when I bought the kit, and it shows the part number as 57A093860A. The description on the Skoda invoice just says “SPARE WHEEL”, which isn’t particularly helpful, or even accurate! I also found a photo which I had taken of the label on the box, and it shows the same part number. See photo attached. I can’t remember now how exactly I came across that part number in the first place. It might have been somewhere on this forum or another forum, or maybe I got it from the Skoda garage. But in any case, this kit worked fine for me. I think I had read somewhere that it wasn’t possible to have a full-sized spare wheel in the 4WD version, because there’s some element of the 4WD system somewhere in the cavity underneath the spare wheel area which causes the spare wheel to sit higher in the 4WD version compared to the 2WD version. Our tyres are 215/50/R18, and the alloy wheel which I bought from eBay is identical to the one which came with the car. The alloy was quite cheap on eBay. But actually even buying it brand new from Skoda would have been quite a reasonable price. I think the Skoda garage quoted me about £180 for the alloy wheel at that time, but I had got fed of waiting for them to answer, and by the time they did answer I had already found one on eBay. If I was doing it again, I’d probably get a brand new alloy from Skoda, just for peace of mind. I also got an identical tyre, rather than a cheap one. My thinking was that if I got a puncture in the middle of nowhere when I’m a long way from home on holiday in France, I’d want to be able to switch the wheel and just continue driving as normal, for as long and as far as I wanted, rather than worrying that I had one wheel or one tyre which was completely different to the others. The boot floor sits nice and flat in my car, with this kit and this tyre size. It’s more than 3 years since I bought this kit and installed it, so it’s possible that some things may have changed. Our car was new in June 2019. Good luck to you all!
  19. I doubt it's cooked, probes get much hotter in petrol engines, more like to be sooted up, you could try cleaning it with carb cleaner.
  20. You have probably cooked the new sensor, or it's just failed again. P code tells you the sensor is faulty, worth checking the wiring to the sensor, if that looks good then another sensor would be first "fix".
  21. What is the part number of the module you've bought? There are two modules that are often confused. One deals with central locking and alarm, the other does lots of other things. You've done a great job of investigating the behaviours and describing your findings, but I think it's too late in the day for me to focus enough to interpret them. Will revisit tomorrow.
  22. Thanks @toot spot on! Looks like all these new ACT engines just tuned 5 years old and no one knows how to change the cambelts on them 🤦‍♂️ Maybe I should delay the Cambelt Change, I only have about 25k miles in total anyway... Maybe by next year all dealers will know what they're doing!
  23. 1 point
That's not hardwired it's using the factory fitted usb c in the mirror surround. I have mine there too but it switches off with the ignition.
  24. It's Jan 2023 now and the Cambelt Change is £950 if you check on Skoda's website for service! Looking on a random independent website, it not much cheaper at £700. My engine is 1.5 TSi ACT, 150PS, I also have DSG if that matters at all. When I got the car in 2021, I asked for a scheduled maintenance list... the Cambelt Change was listed at every 5 years, no mileage, RRP £1150... I thought surely it was a typo and ignored it. I had a Diesel Octavia, 2.0TDi PD, 140PS, that was around £350-£500 to replace with water pump altogether, at Skoda! So my car is turning 5 soon, I wonder what to do, if I should skip the cambelt, try an independent, try to find a Skoda dealer that would do it cheaper?... I mean £1000 why so expensive? what makes this model special compared to others?
  25. When my original rear shocks started leaking I replaced them with Bilstein B4s - no problems at all and they have been on quite a few years now.
  26. Many thanks, varooom, will give it a go.
  27. @wyx087 In the real world there are a lot of greedy barstewards and politicians that allow them to be because they are as well. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-64332617 Maybe time that MP's travel expenses are worked out a 7 pence for each 4 miles travelled and no more to be paid other than they can get assistance to lease a Renault Zoe.

Very disappointed for you Ryan, but you should've listened to uncle Pete and looked to see if the old one was giving odd readings before that throw of parts darts.
  29. I know this is an old thread but to answer what seemed to go unanswered, the speaker/ bleeper is accessed by removing the front centre interior light assembly (lens alone unclips then two screws let you remove the housing- it’s quite snug and almost clipped into the headliner too). There is both a flat little square black box to the rear of the housing (I hazard a guess it’s the sensor for the remote locking) and off to the passenger side a little is the speaker for the parking sensors. Mine being an Elegance fabia 1. I don’t know if it is also a warning buzzer for anything else. My parking sensors gave up over the weekend and indeed the bleep telling you all isn’t well is loud and annoying when you select reverse.

Thanks Gaz! Fixing someone else's mistake as a project I picked up cheap. To be honest I'm about done now just the bumper to go back on but it's been interesting to say the least. Full air bag kit, steering rack, Rad pack, sump changed, seat belts and front end pretty much but she's as good as new now 👌
  31. Late back to this. Busy weekend in the Smoke Thanks for all the suggestions, I will put them all on the list I don't have a service package as such, just an agreement with the local dealer as I don't want to have to come back to UK to get it serviced and I might be somewhere warm. (90/180 day restrictions allowing)
  32. Hey guys, new to this forum. Have an interest in all things Skoda. I have a 2019 Octavia myself, and have owner Skoda’s for the past 15 years. So hello all!
  33. 87 miles yesterday, stopping at my parents for morning and then further up the road (A1M) to kid's birthday party. -4c to 1c, 330 Wh/mi, 3 mi/kWh. Washer fluid did work and I took it easy with family. 28 miles commute this morning, -6c, 380 Wh/mi, 2.6 mi/kWh, hammered at "70"mph set with AP up the M1. Windscreen washer fluid isn't coming out 😞, I need to buy some super strong concentrated to mix it in. This morning, I kept an eye on trip display. Consumption started at almost 500 Wh/mi, this trip-average slowly dropping initially, then started dropping quickly after 20min, down to what I got eventually. Unsurprisingly if driving short journeys, get bad efficiency figure. Leaf was at around 55%, after 12mi school runs on Friday which is much less than 2mi/kWh. So my wife also wanted to charge the Leaf due to freezing temperature. I charged both cars last night in 4 hour cheap period, 7 kW on Tesla and granny charger, ~2.4 kW on Leaf, plus conservatory dehumidifier, I pulled over 10 kW during most of 4 hour period. My energy monitor tells me outdoor (not through house interior fuse box) used 35 kWh to charge 2 cars. With Chademo V2H installed, probably be looking at ~45 kWh in 4 hour cheap period if charging both cars, I'll be looking at install a linked smoke alarm and some fire suppression auto-break-on-heat thing before next winter.
  34. I have never had DCC but I do have Koni SA and Golf R/Kodiaq stabilizer bars. Mine had raised suspension for bad roads (PPD). Install standard Lesjofors springs and those mentioned by KONI SA. The change has been important, especially due to the stabilizers, the front one is complicated to put on but the rear one is easy and you can put it yourself (there are many second-hand ones on ebay or car scrapyards). I know and it has happened to me, quality problems with some shock absorbers and then the brand is not responsible. If they come out good, they work well, they don't eat up the bumps and are soft at low speed nor do they get hard at high speed. They are better than OEM but The best thing about KONI is their marketing department.
  35. Have you been on a good run since changing the serial no? Can you put the battery on charge to see if it will take a full charge? If it does, stop/start should kick in depending on what consumables are on.
  36. Have you checked the tyre tread for uneven wear?
  37. I use a split relay "SPLIT CHARGE RELAY PCT VOLTON ZR1220" wired inline to the boot 12v socket in my mkII Superb. Basically a 12v plug wired to the input and two sockets wired to the switched output. It detects the input voltage and makes the output sockets live when the engine is running and alternator is charging. For me it runs my dash cam and a coolbox in the boot - without this the coolbox would quickly flatten the battery, turns off a few seconds after stopping. EDIT - link:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/PCT-Automotive-Split-Charge-ZR1220/dp/B07KJTNG7V I've done a similar thing in my sons Octavia with the Volton and a 4 way 12v socket tucked behind the dash / transmission tunnel. His feeds dash cam, sat nav & Amazon Echo Auto.
  38. +1 this. Get your car Skoda dealer serviced while in it's in warranty and then leg it to a decent independent as soon as you're out of warranty.
  39. There are new inventions, called "telephone" and "e-mail" that let you communicate at a distance from your own home or workplace...

I should think so. Back in December when we had that week of bellow 0 temps the car was flawless so once I get back to enjoying the car properly it should lift the issue. Yes that's a good idea, I will have a look around for a charger and whenever I get the chance i'll throw that on, I guess every little helps. I normally always have an emergency solution so I should not be stranded (I've definitely just jinxed that)
  41. 1 point
@LesG - hopefully I can help as the same issue was a nightmare for me, but through sheer perseverance I (more than the dealer who bless them tried their best across 2-3 attempts but admitted they did not know how to solve it!) managed to resolve it so hopefully the below thread may help you - check the last post or two from the thread as from memory it was all a bit of trial and error - if you have only 1 skoda id, suggest you just try resetting password or if that does not work try alternative/new skoda id? That software is definitely not the latest software as it has a known issue preventing online map updates amongst other things - I know that because it was my installed from new software & has since been updated by the dealer at least twice - my current software is something like 0302 or 0306 (my car is not at home to check) - my maps now update - you do need to also have a valid skoda connect subscription for online map updates though and in turn you need to be the primary user to activate skoda connect in the first place
  42. The cambelt was completed in one day dropped off at 9 and picked it up at 1600, the all in price including vat was £729 , they had refilled coolant as well, had it done at Caffyns Ashford Kent .
  43. Latest Updated Speedcams - December, 2022. It's been a long while but at last here's the latest update of my customised version of EUR Speedcams ( December, 2022). They consist of the full EUROPE speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Fixed Speedcams, Average Speedcams, Variable Speedcams and Redlight Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons, shown below, to match each of the speedcam categories. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to open the newly extracted folder and place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in your infotainment map menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Hope you all enjoy them! EUR Speedcams December, 2022.zip *** A brief update*** For all those who have asked - I am still continuing to update these files but since the Covid situation I have found it difficult to get hold of a good FREE reliable updated database. I continually regularly check the forums and when I come across a suitable database I use some software to check the cameras in my area before I decide whether to convert and compile them as it does take a bit of time and effort to accomplish this. For instance, some average speedcams were installed about 3 years ago in my area but no database has yet reflected this change. It's therefore been pointless doing any updates. Thankfully, this new updated database has finally recognised them so perhaps things are starting to get back to normal. Rest assured though these files will be updated as and when I come across any further suitable databases.
  44. Common problem, i have done mine, i didn't replace, i just used metal penny washers on them and they have been fine for over 50k
  45. That's interesting because Heritage Skoda in Bristol is who I called, and the service guy said the 1.5tsi was different and it was allocated 6½ hours of labour time for a cambelt and then parts.
