  1. Finally collected this yesterday. The window module ordered from @Breezy_Petehas already arrived so that's a job for the weekend. Perfect first drive home down the A5 from Shrewsbury to Bethesda. As I came down the valley towards Llyn Ogwen there was a bong and a warning flashed up on the dash. I pulled over and when I got out thought, "Ffwcin hell it's freezing!". Took me a few minutes to realise that the warning on the dash was because the outside temperature had dropped below 4 degrees! Not owned a car this 'modern' before! Still, the stop was an opportunity for some pictures and to pamper the pooch with a sausage roll for his good behaviour on the train today.
  2. I have been trying (for years) to get my hands on a genuine boot dish/tray for the Fabia and managed to find a brand new "old stock" one that appeared on eBay a couple of weeks ago. Much to my delight I went to purchase it but the seller was away so his shop was 'closed'. I had to wait until the seller returned but with 9 other watchers I wasn't too confident I could win it - low and behold I managed to win. Pretty pleased with it to be honest:
  3. Talking of macro / close-up photography - a couple of shots of the underside of Snowdrops (taken last night at Clumber Park) - I hadn't realised just how intricate they are!
  4. Cool 👍😎 I can be reeeaaallyyy well behaved for a sausage roll 😇 Gaz
  5. I am slightly confused, are you talking about the DSG selector in the Mk4? Its small and convenient for me, nothing wrong with it at all. If you don't like that one you should try the Porsche Taycan one!!
  6. In my defence there wasn't much fuel in it when I'd picked it up so I'd been keeping an eye on the miles 'til tank empty which had been reading 40 so at first I didn't notice when the display changed to 4.0 (degrees)...
  7. Don't, as if it wasn't bad enough that I was salivating, you've got my back leg twitching now Meant to say earlier that I agree with Pete about the lovely photos. Temperature bong made me chuckle - think we've all been there. G
  8. I bet you like your belly rubbed too, back scratches also... When someone comes at you with a thermometer and lifts your tail 😬
  9. Nice, particularly like the last pic. Happy dog! 😁 Having said that, the other pics are pretty nice, good combo of beautiful scenery and car.
  10. Car booked in for routine service and DSG oil change. Told on arrival about 23AX emissions update. Queried what it entailed and if there were any potential downsides. Given the Skoda blurb on what it did - emissions, protecting the catalyst etc. Asked the service manager directly about any potential downsides. SM said that "there were none, it had been done to loads of vehicles and there were no reported problems, Skoda were doing this update for a good reason and to protect my vehicle. He would do it if it were his car." Absolutely *zero* mention of affecting gearchanges or behaviour of gearbox modes. Did I consent to the update - Yes Was my consent based on misleading information - Yes So - Did I give *informed consent* - Emphatically, NO! I accept that the dealership were given incomplete information by Skoda. Thats fine. I'm very salty about being told there is nothing wrong with the function of the DSG, the removal of the different modes, and that I drive funny. @toot I don't know exactly who's handling the complaint, but it's via the VWUK Executive Office rather than a random callcentre.
  11. +1 MY15 and MY16 models are restricted to 3 colours only. MY17 onwards came with the 10 colours, and u can use VCDS/OBDEleven to increase that 30 colours. the hardware is different, hence u can't go from 3 to 10 (or 30) colour version with just coding.
  12. Since managed to get the battery details entered into my ECU, I have not a repeat of the problem, maybe it's just behaving itself, or maybe it's fixed, time will tell, I'll update this thread if I have any problems.
  13. Good find! I've just got a tailored one that cropped up online, more just a mat than a boot dish.
  14. Cheaper than an Octavia same age/miles so thought I'd try one to see if it could bankrupt me.
  15. Hello! Today i call to the seller..and guess what? He told me, that my Kodiaq it´s on the boat...and i ask him, if it was on the Grande Europa, or in the Parana (2 of the boats that are comming to Portugal)...he says that i know more than he does... So, with some luck, on the 2nd week of March...the boats arrives on 25 and 26 february...so more a few days for the procedures... 1 year and 2 weeks after ordered, let`s see what i get... 😅😅😅 Sorry about my english... 😇
  16. It might be an idea to log the Alternator output to see if it's replenishing the power rapidly, that would maybe explain the increased RPM on startup Here you can see the Alternator stepping down output over time, so perhaps worth looking at your values
  17. PR: G0C = 5 Speed Manual PR: G1A = 6 Speed Auto So part will depend on your gearbox
  18. You should really get the new battery programmed to the car or it won’t know there is a new battery fitted and charging won’t be adapted to a new battery
  19. @MartiniB It worked!!🥳 My bad was that I had the IDE09732-ENG115870-Interior light: light configuration-Ambiente_Applikationsleisten_in_Instrumententafel not active and what was turning the color list off was that Ambient_Farbliste_HMI was active. Thank you so much!! I'll attach some photos:
  20. No GPF on a 2013 1.4 TSI anyway so not related. As to the RPM. look closer, is it really as low as 600 rpm? Is it a DSG or Manual. In it in N at 600 rpm in Manual or even a DSG? If a DSG in P or N at 600 rpm, surely not in D with foot on brake pedal and certainly not in S. .......................... With 1.2 TSI's Skoda want employees to get customers to be persuaded that rough runners are 'they all do that's'. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504258-a-tsb-from-skoda-on-cold-start-behaviour-with-12-tsis-something-that-dealership-employees-should-be-able-to-explain-to-customers
  21. Probably related to the battery, as the J519 controller can override the revs to recover power (though that figure seems high) and too short to be a GPF regen cycle I would say. Maybe some more answers will come from other members soon.

I have had my Kamiq SEL for about 2 and a half years and the Kamiq is now going, as admittedly i have got bored with it. Whilst it's been a brilliant car and has been very good on the economy the Time has come to change it. It has a few things which have been good but equally more things which have outright annoyed me. Pros the Car is spacious and has good rear Leg room and great for kids. good boot space as well. the 1.5 is responsive and picks up well, it ha certainly surprised a few BMW drivers. The ACT is also very good although I have no choice when it kicks in. I have got 55MPG quite regularly on the motorway. Cons the 1.5 when cold is not very smooth when pulling away or travelling below 15mph. it can be very jumpy the windscreen mists up very quickly in cold weather and takes ages to clear. the Lane assist drives me crazy and can be quite dangerous and has pulled me in to on coming traffic a few times. the infotainment system has been extremely buggy and is not totally reliable , I also find it Slow to start with using wireless CarPlay. its been to the dealer so many times over this and they have still not fixed the issues. What will it be replaced with... Well I have considered another Kamiq but to get a vehicle with the engine and options I want would have been very expensive and i'm not convinced that i won't have similar issues again, so i will be replacing it with a Red Ford Puma ST. the Puma is a similar size. it has a 1.5 engine with the ford equivalent of ACT. It has way more standard options on it such as Heated windscreen , Heated seats, Heated steering wheel, B&O sound system. it has a full digital dash. for the standard options it was a no brainer against the skoda who appear to want to charge you for everything.
  23. @Andrei1496 i have sent PM to You with scan from my 2016.02 Style with factory fitted ambient light maybe some bits will be handy
  24. Well, I'm hoping that VW/Skoda will resolve this in a mutually acceptable fashion. They appear to be acting in good faith at this time.
  25. I think the silica bag is the least of your worries on this issue for now. That said, if the bag splits and leaks silica into the coolant system, the bag would still remain in the coolant header tank. (Note, the silica containers come in a variety of shapes and types.) I've no idea what's going on here, but it doesn't sound good. I'm alarmed that the car was returned to you with over-filled black coolant, unless there's some sort of catastrophic failure. Does the new dark coolant smell different to "normal" coolant? My instinct would be to ask the garage that did the work to explain the issue, but I'd be very cautious about letting them work on the car unsupervised. I think you need to get this looked at quickly by a competent mechanic.
  26. I'm amazed infotainment system issues aren't a higher percentage of problems with the Mk4. I tend to buy cars right at the end of their production life-cycle. This gives a double bonus of having most of the known issues solved, or at least a known solution established, and also a drop in the purchase price to encourage people who might be tempted to wait for the new model to buy existing stock of the old. Has worked out pretty well so far.
  27. If you can't see it under the car near the fuel tank it's probably a combined pump/filter unit in the tank. Unless you're doing huge annual milage just forget about it.
  28. But only the 2020 onwards mk4. The mk3 actually comes up very well and all the other vw group cars on the same platform seem to have the similar scores. Suggests some bugs in a new platform which may or may not have been ironed out.
  29. That's it, Racingline air intake with pleated cotton filter + turbo inlet. The cover was bought online to a spare parts company in Holland. It came in a very mint condition, more than happy with my purchase. Now that it's known that it works (With its assumptions, btw), you could go to check the availability of the part to any of the VW replacement parts shop if you want to roll with a cover on. Online I see it's available here, more expensive though: https://www.oemvwshop.com/06k103925df-cover-p2291869/ Funny thing is that online that the part is already listed as compatible with Octavia mk4 (NN 2020 -) but the DNPA code is not in the engine spec table … so I assume that the fact of having the oil tap covered means not compatible part. I did a brief check and all engine codes from the table have the oil tap on the exhaust camshaft side.
  30. It's an aftermarket air intake from Racingline Performance. https://www.racingline.com/air-intake-r600-r600evo
  31. Pros - Cheaper than paying full price Cons - Loosen dirt in engine Paying for unnecessary works Unlikely to be "done right" since this requires driving the car "engine hot" gently for about 200 miles with the flush in.

Imagine how I felt - ordered the car blind - no demo cars, so no test drives, nothing. Came from a Mini Cooper S JCW. My god is the vRS quiet. My god is that stupid fake sound annoying. But you know what, kind of agree with some of the comments, I went from something clearly not practical to a more one-car-fits-all family estate and it's refinement in the car even when pressing on is quite pleasant. Still, even at 42, wish there was a '**** the neighbours off' button too!
  33. Hi!

Hi everyone. New Yeti owner as of yesterday, my second car ever and loving it so far, huge improvement on my previous car. Big plans for this car, soon to be a camper/bicycle hauler w/ roof awning etc! Thanks for having me! Riley
  34. If you read my posting that uploaded while you were typing you will see that I reset mine to zero but it did nothing to change the problem, the ECU triggers on a calculated soot load and ignores the measured one, it does not seem to take any account of the oil ash volume whether it thinks it is full or has been told it is empty. What worked for me and worked like a charm was the emissions rollback, my UK next door neighbour has an Octavia which he has never allowed to have the emissions fix, he had never heard the cooling fans running when he stopped, mine was doing it at the end of every journey less than 20 miles unless I drove straight back out again to let it complete. Now with the rollback my car is like my neighbours.
  35. I also put them on mine without drilling coming up to 2 years ago and they are still there and fine.
  36. As the other thread has replies I'll lock this one.
  37. After many years, my Felicia had to be retired to the scrap yard in the sky. It was followed by an Octavia which did good service around Europe. But then another job change meant I didn't need a car... Now things have changed, I am searching for a performance car that can be used as a daily. The Superb 3.6l V6 has caught my eye, so off the the bowels of the forum to research! Cheers Paul
  38. Hi Paul. Welcome back.
  39. 2017 model with halogen bulbs do NOT need the bumper or headlight units removed to change the bulbs. But not as in the video above, do NOT touch the glass with your fingers, if you cannot manage to do that wear gloves.
  40. @MartiniB yes. IDE11477-ENG128654-Interior lighting: parameter-p_farbauswahl_HMI is responsible for the color number in the dropdown. I had the value 07 (00000111 - only 3 colors enabled) in my channel and I've changed it to 7F (01111111). I tried this because I thought that maybe I could add a 7th color. I think the correct value should be 3F (for 6 colors) but I haven't tried it yet. I saw that you have the value 19 (00011001) in this channel. You could try with 3F or 7F too and see if it will enable the others. These are the values that can be entered in there as I know: 00000001 - Warm White 00000010 - White 00000100 - Red 00001000 - Green 00010000 - Blue 00100000 - Turquoise 01000000 - Did not add another color 10000000 - Did not add another color Use this conversion table as an example: https://kb.iu.edu/d/afdl Let me know if it works 😁
  41. Varooom, thankyou for taking your time to respond. I've changed the fuel filter, the fuel pump seems to be working fine and I have checked pipework so I'm with you on that one I don't believe it's the fuel side of thing either. As for the air side I unplugged the O2 sensor and tried starting the car that made no difference, disconnected the air intake pipe that made no difference. Disconnected the MAF sensor that made no change, the only thing where I actually got a reaction out of the car was when I unplugged the turbo boost sensor it allowed the car to run. Not great obviously soon as I plugged it back in again the car then started to no longer idle and cut out instantly when trying to apply throttle. The orignal code I got when plugged into the diagnostics was egr but as you know it could be everything related. Egr valve opened and closed no problem and soot levels in the system was only 9.
  42. yes even with my fat fingers its fixed with 6mm nut
  43. Thanks for the link Mario.
  44. None. So dead simple. There used to be with TSI,s then that ended about 10 years ago. ................................ There used to be with TDI,s and pretty much that stopped as well. They were at the 3nd Major Service so @ 4 years / 40,000 miles. IN GREEN Charts. Minor / Interim & Major Servicing as was. They charged Fixed Prices like that up to 2019 and yet would not change stuff as the Tech /Fitter decided not to. Very odd, taking Labour and VAT to not fit parts so not pay the VAT to HMRC. Cheat the customer and tax payers really. In 2021 Skoda shows Diesel Fuel Filters @ 6 years / 60,000 miles.
  45. Thanks for you replies. It’s a 2020 1.0 tsi manual with full Skoda history with just under 33k. Well this morning I inspected the air filter and it was absolutely filthy! And it’s obviously the original filter. I changed this myself and after a run got an instant increase in MPG. The air filter change intervals on these seem far to high in my opinion. Oh and I’m not 89 it’s the year I was born 😃 and I did raise the poor MPG with Skoda and got the usual must be your driving style and not DTCs are logged etc etc. You’d think inspecting the air filter would be a basic check and I’m 100% going to be raising this with the service department at my local dealer. Once again thank you all for your comments and input 🤙🏻👌🏻
  46. Ooooo a Jaguar? How posh! I did indeed, also miss this milestone.
  47. Best take out an extended warranty when yours expires. There are people that can repair the MCU's and VW Group will hopefully be required in Australia, New Zealand and other World Regions to accept there are Design, Manufacturing or material faults and like in 2012 with the DQ200 in some countries like China put a 100,000 mile / 10 year warranty on them. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509101-dsg-in-emergency-mode-in-the-cold The DQ381,s are not just used in 2.0 TSI or TDI's, also in some 1.5 TSI's FWD or AWD. Lots of them out there in VW,s, Audi,s, Seats & Skoda,s.
  48. I think you miss the point of a V8 a V8 = happiness which in turn lowers stress (which has the side effect of people produce less heat and so it helps save the planet)

I go to work at about 5.20am which I think is plenty silly enough these days. I feel your pain. Been there done that. These days I've downsized to a puddle jumper and managed to get a quiet life. See how long it lasts 😉
