If I've got the mind to I'll over take anything and everything. If I've only got a few miles left to go I won't. But 20+ miles I will. The camper could of been one of those 35 everywhere, sure big junction coming up, I can wait, or I can get past and not have to trundle along on a big road later. There are a few moments I've been in a rush, but chosen not to over take something. Then later, and normally just as you enter a section impossible to overtake, they change style or slow down. Had it last week in the highlands, lovely long straights, french car. Happily doing 55, ok I can live with that. got to a section that is difficult to pass for many miles, they slowed to 30 and still braked for many corners. Fair enough, french, left hand drive, perception different. I'm always very nervous overtaking multiple vehicles. I count to 5 if in a line, if no one is making use of that opportunity, I will and normally make myself very visible, flick of main beams inc twinky. Equally a few when I've gone, thinking I was up next and just clocked a bike or similar that wasn't part of the train. So easy to judge from a computer, we've all done similar in one form or another... So I'm not. tl;dr; Red on Red, should polish out.

The rear upper bearing is not a bearing and usually does not need replacing.

Are you from Yorkshire by any chance... You WANT to buy another car even older than your beloved VRS just to avoid a £12.50 charge? You don't need this forum, you need professional help 😅

So just pay the £12.50 for the day if it's only occasional! Jesus.
  5. I very much doubt it on both counts. A paint warranty generally only covers problems coming from the inside out, or of course actual problems with the paint, not stone chips or other physical damage. Alloys wheels are vulnerable, if not prone, to chips and other damage from general driving. Getting minor chips, which then let water under the lacquer, causing the lacquer to lift (often referred to as 'white worm') are all too common, so I can't see any clause that would cover such eventualities. If you feel there's an obvious problem with the paint, or quality of the finish, then ask the dealers opinion and advice. Don't be surprised if they politely decline to assist. Have you had the car since new? Is it possibly just a poorly executed light refurb? Gaz
  6. Have moved your question to the MKIII owners area. Hopefully more members can have a look under their cars and advise. Gaffa tape and zip ties is the quick fix. Possibly failed on age, or has been impacted by something causing the break. Any clean plastic should help. Park it up on a raised kerb should give you a little bit of wiggle room. Or take a few notes to a local indy garage for a look.
  7. A mobile fitter should be able to do it, and usually it is part of the fitting price (as it is enabling it to work properly). They just need to plug in a cheap laptop with relevant programs for couple of minutes. Might be sensible to check ahead of appointment if it is not mentioned. To some extent not doing it would be on a par with a mobile tyre fitter changing tyres and then not putting air in them. Shouldn't happen because fitted is deemed to make it usable and operational.
  8. Ok, it was caused by the bonnet not being clicked fully home, --- silly me!!! ;-(
  9. After disconnecting and putting in a new battery, u'll get a bunch of errors, but all u need to do is drive around for 15 mins n they'll clear. With coding, even if u r replace it with the exact same battery specs, u should still code it in so the car knows u have a new battery, and it will adapt the charging pattern to suit. People usually put in the date as a new serial number, e.g. 22072023.
  10. You need to carefully pry off the cover (with a trim removal tool, or similar, NOT a screwdriver!) that has the window switches as it’s all one piece. You can’t remove the mirror control switch on its own. There is a small tab at the back and a couple along the length of this plastic piece. There’s a coupe of connectors attached which you can release and bingo, the control switch can be removed. Beaten to it by excellent video posted by mryan358!!

Skoda - Simply Clever. You go to see 5 year old car for sale with a FMDSH or FSH and you ask has the cam belt been replaced at 5 years and now they can say 'No need to do by time or miles since July 2023.' Vorsprung Durch Technik. You do not want to reduce your profits by doing servicing and maintenance that you have been telling customers that they needed to do.
  12. Bought our Karoq Sportline here in April and nothing but a good word for James in the showroom. However, beyond that they wouldn’t be top of my recommended list. The car had been transferred in from elsewhere and the small Sportline badge was missing from the steering wheel so James arranged for it to be called back when the part came in. In the meantime a few software errors cropped up which would be dealt with at the same time. A courtesy car had been arranged but come the day no record of it. After scrambling about a Kamiq was found, luckily I could drive a manual. When I picked the car up I spoke to the service desk about how hard the ride was on the 19in rims only to discover later on they’d been over-inflated by about 12psi each wheel. I’ve since been informed by the manager it’s standard Skoda policy to over-inflate tyres of the standing stock to save flat spotting 🤔 And then there’s the issue of the warranty and breakdown. I was told appropriate paperwork, booklets etc would be sent out but two months on, nothing. Contacted James who referred my enquiry to his admin. Nothing. Chased again and told that admin were single-handedly dealing with new vehicle registrations. Still nothing. Eventually I was sent a single sheet with warranty dates on but due to ‘date protection purposes’ I couldn’t be given any info with regard to the breakdown cover. A member on here has since kindly sent links to access both the warranty and breakdown details. How much more convenient would it be to have something handy to keep in the folder with the handbook. Sent in a complaint which the general manager intended to discuss with his after sales manager. All I’ve had since is an apology for the fact the tyres weren’t deflated to the correct psi upon delivery. Nothing said about the other issues. Needless to say I’m back on to him for a response. In summary, I’d more than recommend James in sales but as for the back room team 😥
  13. My last rental was supposed to be a VW Polo or similar and I ended up with a ****röen something or other so I'm going to say a Polo 🤣
  14. I reckon you're looking at £650 for Bilstein pro kit or Koni sport kit, either would be a revelation!
  15. Welcome, Sorry to hear this sad tale. Someone might be along that can help and i asked a mod to move it to the Karoq section. Maybe @Crasheror @ApertureScan give some guidance. If you bought it 17 months ago i hardly think you have anything to get from going back to who you bought it from.
  16. Yes! Anyway, after much dismantling, my partner has sorted it. There was a complete break in the cable from pin 22 of the body control module to the boot latch, it had broken behind the boot wiring grommit, really strange the break was really clean like it had been cut. For anyone with a similar issue, it's the blue & brown cable, and it should have power at pin 1 of the 4 pin plug into the boot latch. My partner dismantled the nearside boot trim to first check for power at the 10 pin multiplug behind there. (Both cables into the boot light have power, there is a diode on the light).

I watched an impatient driver in front of me do exactly the same thing today trying to overtake 4 cars behind a convoi agricole (combine harvester), it was fairly obvious all of the 4 cars were wanting to do the same thing but hopefully waiting for those in front to overtake first, one moved over oh so slowly to look past, he was sat well back and the overtaker either didn't see him which is scary or decided to go for it, even scarier, he ended up in the ditch because his reaction was so exaggerated he lost control. Every weekend and Mondays for the last 19 years I see at least 3 or 4 cars in ditches or on their roofs in fields, there never seems to be any other vehicle involved or any skid marks, usually on dead straight roads as well. Be careful out there.
  18. Perhaps you mean Birmingham? The charge there is actually only £8 a day, it's £60 if you're a mindless doughnut who can't breath through your nose and who 'forgets' to pay it. Surely you're used to paying tolls on bridges etc? It's £2.50 every time I use the Dartford crossing, if I forget, it's £60, so I don't forget! Pain is a great teacher.
  19. If you're an enthusiastic driver then it's a great excuse to replace the front struts for something much better, I think Bilstein offer good value but I've seen other brands of gas strut for less, KYB for example.
  20. The files inside the June 2023 release are indeed from late last year and will only update the maps to 22.12.
  21. I don't want to
  22. Another success story 👍👍👌👌 It just now started a OTA update as well.
  23. If you want to see (and hear) more, here is a long (almost 4h) video on YT: Note, you can zap the first 17mn, with incomprehensible green screen... This includes the 20-30ies Bentley race, to better understand my comment about it. 😉 You'll only miss the smells (gasoline, hot oils, heated brakes and clutch, tyres, leather...) which are also part of the experience!
  24. The 1.8T wherever it is used in known for stuck open thermostats causing lambda issues due to the ECU responding to the lower coolant temperature by adding fuel.
  25. @tootI am in Turkey. It is a 1.4 tsi fwd with 7 speed dry clutch dsg gearbox.

Hi, I've moved this to the octavia MK II section as it's much more likely a MKII owner will know this. If you find them elsewhere, please do share too

  28. Hit apps on the screen, if you have android auto you will see maps etc
  29. You use a pry tool to pry out the window controls and mirror switch together.
  30. I posted this on the 10 Feb 2023 According to Skoda Germany its a lifetime belt and does not need replacing on Facebook last night a member of the Karoq page posted his letter from Skoda confirming it

  33. MPG

    1 point
Worth noting that I have always used E5 97 octane petrol, apart from 3 months in 2019 when I used 95 octane petrol to see what effect it had on MPG, it increased petrol consumption by over 7.5% and car felt less responsive, at supermarket price per litre for 97 is about 5% more than 95 so didn't save any money for worst driving experience.

@TheWanderer Are you now Pi$$ED OFF that you posted this in the first place? 🤣

  36. MPG

    1 point
@Expatman 's figures are interesting. A best at near 50 mpg is good but not great, but relative to that his overall average at over 44 mpg is comparatively outstanding. A lot factors involved in the overall figure, good economical driving technique, most journeys a sufficient distance for the engine to warm up and without excessive speed. The Yeti's Achilles heel of poor aerodynamics reveals itself on the longer faster run although that can be mitigated by the 'normal' close proximity driving (imo) on busy British motorways. I can understand his enthusiasm for the Yeti's overall versatility but I also think he would get even better figures with a more modern engine vehicle (Karoq?) or a Toyota hybrid. Many drivers are not very good at driving economically, or as I call it 'sensibly' and I think this was demonstrated when I hired a 1.2 litre NA Corsa in the UK. The long term consumption for 8000 miles averaged low twenties but I was getting sixties on a tank and I was stunned on a cross London journey in peak to average 50 mpg (the display seemed accurate to refill calculations). Conversely, a recent interstate holiday trip in Aus in our 1.4tsi Octavia returned about 50 mpg. I was a little disappointed by that but the roads on our route were empty, speeds were high because of the distance to cover, there were strong head and cross-winds (both directions 😞 ) and it was cold (our winter). Normally I'd hope for high 50s. I do not keep a record these days but when I filled up the car last night I calculated the average at 6.4L/100 (44 mpg). Wife does most of the driving commuting 13 km to work across town. 95 Octane was A$1.75 a litre which converts to 92 pence which is at the low end of our price cycle and why I filled up.

Me too, but I'm afraid we'll have to wait a bit longer yet, their still in China.
  38. @BTandSidSo the little liar you spoke with was mixing up the Over Inflated tyres for the car being 'In transit' and getting strapped down. A BS like him or her are the reason that incompetents get away with not doing a PDI correctly.
  39. Corrected that for you!
  40. Probably. 73 years is pretty old for a cambelt.

    New stereo system is in.
  42. Colourful sunset earlier. Not sure what type of clouds they are? Still evident now
  43. I’ve said for a long time that the 5 year thing has always been a uk rip off on these tsi engines. I can understand anyone being worried and getting the belt changed, but the every 5 years age thing doesn’t make sense and was never in the official service manuals but dealers and many specialists have quoted it for years. Thank goodness they are officially saying it isn’t needed.
  44. Took it out and cleaned it with contact cleaner like you said and it’s good as new. Thanks for the info 👍👍👍 Took it out and cleaned it with contact cleaner like you said and it’s good as new. Thanks for the info 👍👍👍
  45. This has been mentioned before on this forum. However, I had the same issue so removed the switch, took it apart (carefully!) and cleaned with spray contact cleaner. Put back together and all working fine.
  46. Colourful sky this evening and the Buck Moon has just put in an appearance 👍
  47. The weather in the east Midlands this evening made for lovely skies 🌈
