  1. Keep it simple - if it's not leaking it, it's burning it. Check for signs of cross contamination, do a sniffer test (the kits are cheap enough). Did anyone mention it was smoking? It is possible that a joint's getting a bit poor and it's only leaking when it's being pushed hard, so it's work having a good look around all the pipework for any leaks. Does it get hot and/or spin it's fans when it's sat idling in the sun, or if sun's in short supply, idling with the bonnet down and it's nose up against a hedge? If you've still got a/c, does the fan spin when you stick it on full cold?
  2. Thought I would get this done today. Super useful guide. Thanks. When I opened the switch it looked really clean. Gave the Pcb a quick rub with some cleaning alcohol and put it back together thinking it wouldn't change. I was wrong, problem solved. First push it kicks in.
  3. Aberdeen has Turbines right offshore and yet can not find the money to heat the swimming pools and leisure / sports centres that spent millions on. The Port / Ships / Oil supply boats are getting Hydrogen produced from the electricity to power things in port. The new built port Aberdeen South Harbour is looking at storing hydrogen underwater. Arse over elbow sadly. Time to plan is before construction started on the new port.
  4. It is deemed a good moved for shipping . The company that is due to be my employers parent company shortly, CMA, is buying fleets of LNG container ships. Also similar sized cruise ships ie circa 200,000 tonnes, just come off one after a cruise, is also LNG. Store about 3600 metres cubed of gas ie about 3000 tonnes feed in to 4 medium speed piston engines each around 20000 hp I gather.I Emissions are about three quarters of a diesel fuelled ship. Someway off going lecky but expect it will happen. Replenishment at sea like Royal Fleet Auxilary I can foresee.
  5. Burning gas is not good either, check out the PM figures in the vicinity of boiler or cooker, far worse than standing by a main road.

Buyer beware. Especially with 'All in' plans or just Extended Warranties with Skoda / VW Group. Get all the T&C,s and read them before committing. Also when buying Skoda, VW, SEAT, Audi Approved used cars. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/515926-leaking-engine-oilthoughts
  7. Don’t trust the dash gauge, it displays rubbish. If it moves above 90 the truth is 117 and rising.

Hi to all, may not be applicable but just be aware that there is a recent poster who has run into an issue - he has had a Skoda approved used warranty claim (engine oil leak) rejected due to having also taken out an 'all in' warranty when he bought car.
  9. Not to mention garden bonfires, which can cause quite unpleasant local pollution.
  10. Good morning, I try to take out fuse nr. 19 again and wait till SOS went offline (red). I put it back and on start it didn't change anything (garage) then I took a ride around the town and after 30-60 seconds everything is back online.
  11. Easier to bring up the notifications by just touching the area where the white globe and privacy icon is. I find the dragging/sliding dynamics of the MIB3 to be horribly inaccurate at times.
  12. Likewise in relation to PMs wood burners... apparently the UKs domestic wood burners emit more PM10s and PM2.5s than road traffic: Guidance for wood burning in London | London City Hall Emissions of air pollutants in the UK – Particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Makes you think...
  13. Cheapest noname parts are usually of really low quality. Why don’t you just buy a used genuine Skoda part? I would. And it should be even cheaper than new noname part and definitelly of much, much better quality and durability.
  14. Have decided to jump in. Just paid a deposit. Fabia SE comfort 1.0TSI 110PS DSG in Graphite Grey. Initial delivery date proposed was 3-4 weeks but have just been informed it could be end of next week. Only reservations I have about that is that the Road Tax would be August not September and the reg would be 23 not 73. Anyone see any problems there? At age 74 and driving since I was 20 this is the first time I've been in a position to actually get a NEW car! Any tips or advice or anything to look out for that I may not be aware of would be appreciated.
  15. Something a bit different... Red Mk3 l&k on bentley gtc alloys in stealth copper
  16. Road trip to Wellington and back, Rusty performed well. I took the Azev wheels down for a guy who said he wanted to buy them then he ghosted me so I brought them back again! Stayed in a cottage in the middle of Nga Manu bird sanctuary which was awesome! Also brought back a Ford Courier gearbox which has done 250,000km less than the one in my ute Extra lowering demonstrated here:
  17. It lives! Smoked out the place but it is going. Don't know if I said this before but I've had both gauges plugged in and while both work, the sdi cluster sets off the immobiliser, obviously. Not sure which gauge set I prefer. Either way I'd like to set the miles to be accurate to the chassis. So the 196xxx the sdi gauges read instead of the 216xxx on the vRS gauges. Rear suspension in fully now and rear lines connected. Don't particularly trust 20 year old fittings even though the lines themselves don't look their age. Using VanhireBoys rear springs as they're perfect for this. Very noticeable difference in these springs vs the ones that came on the vRS. Fk ones with adjusters. They'll be perfect for what I want. I don't like low cars and the height it was at before was perfect for me. It will definitely be lower now with all the extra weight on the nose but hopefully not too much. Front and rear brakes aren't installed as of yet but I may try get it on the ground for the first time in a while next day.
  18. Yes the DQ381 does seem to have occasional problems, although of course we only get to hear about the bad ones, not the good ones. I’m just hoping that now we are a few years in, VW a have sorted out the mechatronic weaknesses. I will have to decide whether to take an extended warranty or not…
  19. Probably just needs a software expert. Problem is you need the unit and be a software expert so solutions start to get thin on the ground. Fortunate that the Here Maps cartography and toolkit built into their files is flexible enough for the purpose so the starting point is, is the cartography of Here Maps / the company they came from in both cases, then you might be in with a chance. The Australians seem to be good at adapting the setup to their market which is how the mib2 standard one came from and PCbbc's special source on those files. Decrypt of what was in them. Bridage had the solution via the mib2 standard toolkit but generalisation needed coding. For mib2 high it was just changing the coding which picks up groups of TMC providers across international markets. The well engineered approach to the files allowed that.
  20. It's not there in my 2020 build car, nor the loan car I had a couple of years back, but on the 2023 registered loan car I had last month this capability was alive and well. As @Alexsus mentions, it's only in the later build cars with later hardware. I know of no way to enable it on the older vehicles, will try to remember to ask my friendly dealer when I'm next there (taking the wife's CitiGo for service & MOT). I found the map with dials display to be too busy for my liking, preferring the minimal guidance information on the virtual cockpit with full map on the infotainment screen. The ability to change the central speedometer to other information is something I would like to have though.
  21. The DQ200 DSG gearbox used in Fabia is theoretically maintenance free for life, and has no servicing. Skoda do produce a servicing schedule which covers annual schedule based on 10,000 miles. But it doesn't say what is due by time and what is due by mileage so is fairly useless if your mileage is lot lower than 10,000 per year
  22. The chargers are virtually never used at local Tesco now. It was a waste of time anyway at 7kW per hour and you are camera fined if you stay there more than 90 mins!! Aldi over road are also virtually unused where there is also a 90 min camera enforced parking time, even though 50kW. Chargers nearby in 3 he area also hardly ever used. Only 7 kW chargers I have seen regularly used is at another shopping centre where you can stay all day, these still have 15 mins free. I can’t see why people bother with them though, typically much cheaper and just as fast at home. If you need to charge to get home, better at a fast charger? Only time I have used a 7kW charger away from home was at a National Trust. There for about 6 hours and was free as they support green travel.
  23. Keep the Ami topped up charge, where the regen does not come in and stop the Ami doing more than 45 kph, 28 mph, and you can see 70 kph, 44 mph and even someone in US apparently did 70 mph back hacking the electric motor controller, over 110 kph. But beware, see video below this first one of turn 6 at Monaco ! Not a high speed corning machine. Meant for 14 year olds without a licence.
  24. The roads in 1st and 3rd set of photos look very poor. Especially in the wet, I'm not sure any tyre can handle that?
  25. I'd sell a lung (other organs are available) for this car.
  26. Haldex oil is the same as diferential oil? They told me they change the oil and it came out clean. Not sure about pump filter.
  27. Source the part and fit it yourself. It’s a 2 minute job.
  28. Give @pab567your vin number. He will give you the options the car originally had
  29. To apply variable service regime if car is set to fixed interval, requires a configuration change with a suitable diagnostics machine. Also, if it is set to variable already, you can not reset it without a suitable diagnostic machine. Variable regime is not 730 days only. It is up to 2 years with an oil quality algorithm that reduces from there. I would always recommend sticking to 12months / 10k for all cars. But sone engines, it is especially important.
  30. Welcome to Briskoda. You can get LED’s to replace the 382‘s and definitely get brighter Halogens than those you’ve got fitted, however they will be expensive. Take a look on Powerbulbs. They have a massive range of all types at good prices.
  31. I tried. wasnt working neither. Maybe the adapter was rubbish. anyway I bought new usb-c stick. in 20 minutes all done. Works great so far. Thanks all, espescially @varooom for the file.
  32. @Krle Let us fix in 20 minutes what the dealer cannot, I have lost track of how many sent.
  33. The manuals should install once it's made a deep cycle, it will fail each time if you just step out of the car for a few minutes. I learned that myself during the last two days. Let it sit overnight and try again tomorrow. Is it giving you the code saying "ERR_1601_DM_IN"?
  34. Just collected from dealer. RF module replaced and new 1941 software on it. Hope this works as i’m on the cusp of submitting a rejection letter to the dealer to hand the car back… No crashes on the way home…
  35. My feedback: all good! Driven the car a few times since the update and all seems fine. Update took me about 20 mins. Many thanks @varooom👍🏻
  36. I’d just say a massive thank you to @varooom you seemed to have saved me the headache of the reboots!! I also received an OTA update after installing 1941.
  37. I also received this OTA update after updating to 1941. It installed right away and has been working flawlessly.
  38. I will send you are link momentarily, and waiting on a dealer for appointment is not ideal. I guess they will eventually release by OTA, but that's a guess only.
  39. yes, everything is working well with 1941. Thank you again @varooom
  40. No issues yet besides the shop not working due to some service that's not started. I can live with that if the rest of the car functions normally. I'll make screenshot/clip next time i'm in the car and get these messages for reference here in this thread. I noticed tough that startup and menu operation is a bit quicker, more responsive. I'll be honest, this might just be a placebo if having something new and shiny 🙂 It's a bit too early to say that it is a 100% success but so far no Infotainment crash.
  41. For me 1941 is flawless, no comparison towards old release
  42. Hi all, I've just installed the 1941 firmware by my dealer (from which I both the car) a couple of hours ago. The guy that picked up my car seems to be aware of this problem (nothing surprising for him), funny thing the MIB restarted(twice) in from his eyes when he was filling the service form. Even so, he asked me about some evidence(videos/pictures) for the SK to show them. 🙃 The whole process took 3h. No reboots in the short trip(~20km) back home, but tests and statistics are still on-going. I'll update this thread after more(short and long) trips. Hopefully we get to the bottom of this issue. Good luck all, to "fix" your cars.
  43. Hello, I already wanted to do the update myself but I called another dealer one more time and described the problems with restarts. He said to come right away and did an update. Everything is working fine so far.
  44. Hi all. Maybe this will give some of you guys some hope. I copied this message from German FB group from a respectable source. Translation might be a little bit off since this is FB automatic translation from German. Good evening friends of neat cars! 🙋🏻 ♂️ As promised, here's a summary of the newly published TPI for the NX update of the Infotainment (5F) on Firmware 1941. TPI Process Number: 2065556/9 Released: 06/16/2023 Valid only to vehicles carrying MIB3 (PR No. 8AR) Released for firmware stands: 1788, 1803, 1804, 1806, 1810, 1889, 1896, 1899, 1900 If I have understood it correctly, then vehicles that are being produced newly will get the 1940. from KW 25/2023 I don't know if there's a difference between 1940 and 1941 But probably it is only to distinguish whether this was already on from work or an update was made later. The following errors should be corrected: - Setting the ambient lighting impossible. - The Unexpected Happens At ACC Delay or Unintentional Acceleration - Driving profile selection cannot be changed. - AirCare cannot be activated - Wi-Fi without function - Ads in the "Car" menu are incorrect - Screen (ABT) of the 5F stays black - the ABT displays this: Component Protection Activated - RFK sometimes fails, is covered up by a pop-up, flackers or is delayed (everything sporadic) - Air conditioning menu is not displayed correctly - welcome screen cannot be disabled - sporadically the 5F starts and then again (reset - restart) - Sound settings of the 5F are not saved - Audio output via Bluetooth keeps interrupting - Duration of the title played is not represented correctly - sporadically, "clapping sounds" can be heard from the speakers, it will not play sound, over Bluetooth, the voice control is without function - Vehicle position is not displayed correctly (Navi) - navigation will not start - Preferred targets are not saved - Navigation will not be restarted automatically after the break - Navi card in 17 (VC) is not displayed correctly - creating a main user is impossible - Connect apps and software updates cannot be started These are also all the points you can call as a complaint at the 🙂 to get the update about the TPI. For all who are still under warranty, the update should be free. If you are outside the warranty, you have to ask for Kulanz and if necessary. pay for it yourself. Any questions that are not answered here, get in touch... Hoping that with the update there will be some "moving forward" I wish you all good luck at the 🙂!
  45. You can set the time it reacts in settings Early Medium and Late set to late and the problems you have should go. It only works at above a certain speed got this out of the manual The driving speed is higher than 5 km/h. rear sensor are different they will slam the brake on if you keep moving after the single tone as soon as single tone you are 30cm 1ft away.

I fitted a set yesterday . I was able to do it without jacking the car up by using a T25 bit in a mini rachet, There was 1 hole to drill in the plastic liner on the front wheel each side. Easy to do by using a small battery drill and turning the wheel to full lock to give access. If you fit the mudflap first the hole in the mudflap can be used a a guide , In this hole a plug is fitted not a screw I done the 4 in under a hour
  47. GTE arrived on Thursday, can’t wait to get stuck in with the mods on this!
