First clean for my Octy that I picked up on Wednesday this morning. It was "clean" but didn't have any form of paint protection on it and lacked that shine. Wasn't beading or repelling water at all ✅Rinsed ✅Snowfoamed ✅Rinsed ✅pH neutral shampooed ✅Rinsed ✅Dried ✅Paint Sealant Treatment ✅Ceramic Waxed Inside all vacuumed and cleaned too. Then it peed down rain...

My 2007 1.2HTP started idling rough, I at first blamed it on E10 petrol, then on morning really bad and I suspected an air leak so my first suspect was the servo vacuum pipe which I wiggled and imagine my shock when it broke off at the inlet manifold with just the slightest movement. On inspection and replacement I found the whole pipe brittle at servo end and both sides of the non return valve. My car only covered 70K miles but my advice to everybody with a plastic servo pipe of any age is to REPLACE IT . Car idles and run a lot better now and MUCH SAFER.

Just to let fellow Briskodians know that this week I acquired a Karoq to replace Kamiq. My almost three years with the Kamiq were simply superb; what a brilliant car. Sad to see it go. However, I'm fast approaching 80 now, so just fancied something different. This is my third Skoda: 2005 Fabia VRS, Black Magic. What fun was had in that wee rocket.!! 2021 Kamiq 1.0 SE DSG, Titan Blue. Smoothest car ever - and I've had 39. 2020 Karoq 150 SE Drive, Black Magic. Early days but initial impressions favourable. Not as supple as Kamiq but more than acceptable.

You can buy genuine Skoda 32GB SD cards off eBay etc for a sensible price.

Finally solved it. The solution is to apply leverage on the "ledge" roughly half way down and it comes free.

Top half is showing the before figures. Bottom half is showing the after figures. The two in red are for O-S-F Camber and O-S-F Caster. Both are not adjustable but if you look at the correct settings and what you have they are:- The correct settings are the small figures at each end of the ( Red ) parts. In a perfect world the car wants to have setting somewhere in between these figures. Front Camber is out by 0 Degrees and 1 Minute. 1 Minute is 1/60th of a degree. This is not worth worrying about. 1 degree is 1/360th of a circle. Front Caster is out by 0 Degrees and 6 Minutes. 6 Minutes is 1/10th of a degree. This is not worth worrying about. 1 degree is 1/360th of a circle. Find a child with a green felt tip pen and ask them to change the two in red bits to green. Job Done. Thanks. AG Falco

Rather than get bogged down on how many miles or years before changing the fluid, just test it. Testers are inexpensive or your friendly mechanic would test it for you The job be can be done in 5 minutes.

His car L88 DVY was first registered in October 2021. MY22, So not built in 2022. But no matter, a recall is a recall. 'Certain cars are being recalled'. It will be a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG then and that means no Servicing schedule / oil changes for the DSG.

@tootits a 1.5 DSG FWD, no 4WD.Mot sure what DSG though.The video in my last post shows the noise very briefly after the engine turns over after stopping

Moving on, every time it rained, water was filling the spare wheel well, I just couldn't figure out where is was coming from, but after a lot of sitting in the boot while the wife sprayed water over the car, it turned out to be the air grills(what ever they are called) in the boot, bought new ones and siliconed them on, sorted.

Osprey chargers on industrial estate opposite Maygor services near Newport Gwent big thumbs up. Took me a while to figure out best parking position in the parking bay but when did charging started in 20 seconds. Zoe only taking charge at 30 kW but Zoe was already at 65% so understandable. Only took 2.5 kwh of charge in 5 minutes, cost about £1.50, still in credit with Electoverse from their free £10 credit. Subway here so food and loos, i presume. Do like Osprey chargers. Six here and plinths for 6 more, with parking spaces already marked out, for when usage jumps up further as EV adoption rapidly increases.

If you've fitted the wrong ECU then I'm not surprised it won't start! Like @Breezy_Pete says, it's almost NEVER the ECU at fault so refitting the old one should get it running again.

Testing at the master cylinder will not necessarily give a full indication of fluid condition - but should be sufficient for interim checks. More accurate results would be from fluid extracted via the bleed nipples on each slave circuit.

Hi Bobby! I don't know about the ECO mode being set to remember it was in ECO. (It might be something you can do via VCDS, or there may be some widget you can buy to trick the system?) Worth asking your question in the appropriate Octavia MKIII or MKIV forum.

He struck me as a Scally, and i do not believe he had ever heard that term before. Are the council not losing money on the e-Scooter trials. You can be sure that Porsche will not let you burn to death. Call them and they will tell you to get out of the car, and if it does not go on fire get back in and pop round and see them. I have a MY21 facelift with Sportline seats - ie with the integrated headrest - and no cooling, only heating. I’m not aware that they come with cooling on those particular seats?

You pays your money..... I've never took out an extended warranty on any car including the 3 Octavias I've owned since 2012 and never had to pay for anything other than normal consumables and servicing. Whether I'm the norm or not I don't know but if I'd taken out extended warranties on all the cars I've bought over the years it would have cost me quite a sum. Skoda offer them because it makes them money 😉

Thanks all, it was rust causing the problem. I took off the front panel, couldn't find the last screw so tin snips applied to the plastic removed the holdup, it's not as if I need to refit it, my car will never win prizes for its looks. I gave some good squirts of penetrating fluid into the rails when parked on a slope so that it would run back into the blockage , left it for a few hours ,then with me holding up the lever and a mate applying his size XL hammer to the rail at the rear it started moving forward. After a few operations back and forth and more flushing the rust and grit the rails with WD40 it got easy to operate and is now good as new.. Sorted, so I'll get the MOT for another year, new discs and pads to the rear, new droplink to the front have been fitted and all is ticketyboo. Total cost, about £68 for parts and calling in favours done for a mate who has access to a lift and tools.

I don't know how able bodied you are but if you are able to have a look under the seat from the floor level with a good light, you should be able to see more. The big plastic trim on the front of the seats don't make this easy but you might be able to see from the rear. Someone like @DieselMonte might have a seat out of a car that they might be able to post a pic of?

They exist now 🙂 They were introduced with the facelift Superb. Prior to that, ventilation was only available on the leather seats.

A company in the US, called DSC Sport performed some shock dyno testing a few years ago on the Bilstein Damptronic B16's and they found that the Bilsteins only are able to control the rebound, while the factory DCC shocks are able to control both compression and rebound with their valving. "This means the Bilstein Damptronics are a less capable setup when looking at compression adjustment, but still happen to have slightly greater rebound range. Basically the only benefits to the Damptronics are adjustable spring perches to change ride height and stiffer springs. But are not beneficial when looking at the "active" functionalities of the shock. This is due to the valve used in this specific shock, however in other Bilstein kits we have tested, like the Porsche Kit, the valve is different and was able to control both rebound and compression."

Sorry I don’t understand the question. Do you mean the dampers or the sensors? I had one front damper replaced, it was around £500 for OEM from TPS. I got a cheap sensor from ebay, it was around £40 but has worked fine. If I was buying a set of dampers I’d probably go for Bilstein damptronic rather than the Monroe OEM ones.

If there's room in the spare wheel well (and there probably is with the Octavia MK3), I would go with the 205/55R16.

For a set of 4, you would be looking between £1000-2000 depending on where and what you get.

Take it to a trusted independent and get them to inspect the cambelt and advise accordingly. The "If in doubt, change it." approach is costly, but does offer reassurance.

As a final update, anyone with a MKIII with a beige interior who has a mark on their seating and wants to buy perfectly matched dye, if they place a custom mix order with Gliptone, then call John Severn on 01244 888658 Option 1 and tell John that you want the colour he mixed for order number 19117, that’ll tell him the correct mix specification.

You mentioned it had been a while, how is the car running now? Have you resolved all the issues? If so hopefully at no significant cost over what you paid for the car (i.e. I hope you got a good deal on the car that made doing the extra work worthwhile). I had a Mk2 vRS TDI (also came from an Mk7 Fiesta ST) and the lighting on my instrument cluster began to flicker with one set of gauges giving up all together. I ended up sending them off to a specialist recommended on the forum who returned the unit within a couple of days with new LEDs all around. Someone may have had the same or tried to upgrade the lighting and just made a mess of it. I’ve always liked that colour and think you’ve done a good job on the grille surround! Added a splitter too I see.

The thing is about the 7 year old car and someone at a dealership saying no longer any need to replace the timing belt is fair enough. But then if they think they will realise that until July that car had not been serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, guidelines, schedule or specifications. Again fair enough, but these dealerships were selling Skoda Approved Used cars with Full Main Dealer Service histories with a Warranty just not serviced to the blah blah blah / guidelines. Now they are full of bright ideas while 3 months ago they trotted out the same old 5 year guff.

The higher profile will increase the diameter of the wheel. Since the speedo actually counts wheel revolutions your speedo will under-read as you'll be travelling further for each wheel revolution. According to this tyre size calculator the speedo reading will be 6.8% lower, the recommended change is no more than 2%.

Torque is VERY low, just hand tight. No grease needed, rubber is self lubricating.

It's sits higher due to the 30mm difference, and there is a slight bend in the boot floor mat as a result. To compensate, I put a 20mm acoustic sound absorbing foam around it. As a result, it sits flat again now.

Just finished and it starts raining... Shock. Cleaned inside and out. Rinse, snow foam, rinse, two bucket wash, ceramic waxed. Inside got upholstery cleaned, vacuumed, and a damned good clean.
