  1. They tend to fit whatever is cheapest for them in the right size. Do your own research and you'll probably be able to get a much better tyre than the original fitment ones
  2. On Rannoch Moor, Saturday 11-11-23
  3. My first car after coming to the UK was a Volvo 365, with the Volvo 2 litre engine from the 2-series. Considered that to be a lot better than the Renault-engined 340 we had later.
  4. I know what you mean gaz my shogun used to run on anything oily ,if you were behind me it had the scent of a chip shop 😂
  5. It was indeed. Sold it to a mate after I bought the 9-5 HOT Aero. Drove it several years after I sold it, and found myself wondering what on earth I was thinking to get rid of it. Dimwit! 🙄 Many happy memories - drove it up to western Scotland (Acharacle) and did the 620 miles journey on one tank, fully loaded up with a family of four. Think it's the only car I've owned that was capable of that 😎. Pre-PD too so had the simpler fuelling system that'd run on anything vaguely oily (well you know what I mean). G
  6. That one in the link you first posted looks the same as mine FWIW
  7. The coupling shown in the photograph is in fact in perfect condition despite what you would think to be severe cracking.

Hi I've just tried to download the latest map, following my earlier guidance, but I'm afraid, like you, I still get the USB ports in engineering mode greyed out. I don't know why it worked for the salesman but not us. He was happy enough to give me the instructions, which seem pretty straightforward, so I don't really understand why we are having these problems. My apologies to anyone who may have hoped my instructions would lead to a successful outcome. Next time I visit my Skoda dealership for servicing etc, I will seek him out again, and try to get to the bottom of the problem. If I learn anything useful I will update this post. Thankfully, though, for the time being I have (relatively) new maps.
  9. Thank you for your reply and suggestions .What I meant was that I do not find LA as annoying as you obviously do .All Skoda drivers not the same .The safety features on my car will remain operative .

Mate, you are in the wrong section on the forum - this one is regarding a just released 4th gen Superb. Besides that - camera retrofit is very commonly discussed, you should use search functionality.
  11. I think we have our terminology crossed. Stalls = the visible charging bits that has been changed from red U shape to giant slab of white. Cabinets = the AD-DC power conversion electronics housed nearby, hidden away. Yes, stalls have been upgraded. But early report is that cabinets have not been upgraded to support 800v or more amps. This article talks about V4 delivering same V3 power: https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-v4-supercharger-speed-cable-length/ But this newer article says V4 are 350kW, no confirmation what voltage it is able to output: https://electrek.co/2023/07/26/tesla-confirms-supercharger-v4-350-kw-output/
  12. ^^^ I loved my one. I had it for 2 years, no idea what replaced it, i think my Strada 75 Automatic. 343, Blue, Automatic / Variomatic. Stirling Winter Remould tyres, RWD, virtually unstoppable. 1980 / W reg.

@TibbadogGet the Salesperson or whoever is covering for them today to send a picture of the VIN plate showing that it has Weights permitting towing.
  14. This only means that the profile will remember the settings under Individual mode. This doesn't mean that the system will remember the last driving mode used by the user. This will always fall back to Normal with every start of the car.
  15. So another update, just took the drivers side arch off as nice weather and felt sick to know that the silly prongs are still on the right side of the bulb and not the left and the clips were even more inside the housing than the passenger side (I'm in UK) but i've managed to get them done, turned on the lights and they're working phew! Tonight i'll go for a drive to see what they're like and i'll take the obligatory pictures. I do have some from the other night, so i'll take some tonight using the same phone and same location (it's not a pitch black road and has street lights but best test for me) Question anyone else who has changed the Xenons bulbs, non SLA with the two metal prongs, did you struggle? I'm wondering because i'm left handed my brain physically couldn't understand the clips, like I know top clip is down, forward and a bit and up, bottom clip is up, forward a bit then down, but I still struggled. Wondering if people who are right handed it just makes sense and works and for left handed people tough, either that or i'm a bit thick haha P.S The pictures tonight will be previous bulb from I believe factory 2016 and approx 44k miles, compared to brand new Osram Night Breaker Laser Next Gens at 0 hours old. I might be able to put about an hour on before I take pictures of the new bulbs, but I do know these Xenons can take like 20hours to fully bed in and only get brighter & whiter, so i'm guessing I'm going to feel a little underwhelmed to start with
  16. I like that "chinese flavoured volvo"😂
  17. Politely ask the Dealership MD to point out to you in the Approved Used Warranty where this defect is excluded and why.
  18. Mate of mine had a Chinese-flavoured Volvo 850 TDI (the VW engined kind). Got the oil from the local takeaway for 30p.
  19. We often refer to those cables as 'startkabels' in Dutch, but I meant 'Car Battery Jumper Cables' indeed. This way you can add another ground if done properly. If it was a short-circuit, you'll be protected by a fuse. If this doesn't help, try to make a video of your instrument cluster when it happens and upload it here.
  20. The fact that battery type is shown as regular, with no mention of AGM makes me not trust that test set-up. I suspect it also isn't taking into account the variable output voltage nature of an alternator in a start-stop car. Makes it trickier to test than traditional fixed voltage alts.
  21. I paid some ridiculous prices to buy electricity from rapid public chargers in the past 3 month. Home tariff 21 pence a kWh, 20 kWh getting 3.5 miles k/wh. 70 miles £4.20 Sometimes i am only buying between 10-20 kWh, at free or cheap then maybe 25 kWh depending on if a 45 minute or 60 minute max charging time. Perth & Kinross & Stirling Council, 35 pence. 70 miles £7.00 Several times. Angus Council, 41 pence. 70 miles £8.20 Several Times. Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire Council. 47 pence 70 miles £9.40 Several times. Tesla non Tesla 51 pence. 70 miles £10.20 x3 Edinburgh City Council. 55 pence. 70 miles £11.00 X 4 Tesco PodPoint. 62 pence 70 miles £12.40 X4 LIDL PodPoint. 65 pence 70 miles £13.00 X4 BP Pulse 69 pence 70 miles £13.80 Twice. Evyve. 75 pence. 70 miles £15.00 X3 InstaVolt. 75 pence. 70 miles £15.00 Twice. Osprey. 79 pence. 70 miles £15.80 Once. South Ayrshire Council Free, used quite often. 70 miles. £0.00. Had thousands of miles from them in 3 years. Tesco PodPoint, taking 2 kW for free quite often. Thousands of miles from Free Charging. Dito Other Charge Place Scotland Free Charging quite often. Dito Dito.
  22. Shell can do one as far as I'm concerned. Tesla will disrupt the charging market like it has the car market. All their new sites will be V4 Superchargers and will be open to all (with contactless payment) - currently they are 15-20p cheaper than nearest rivals and 30p cheaper than Shell! The other CPOs will have to get prices down or suffer the consequences. Tesla are now selling V4 superchargers to other charger networks and apparently these cost a lot less that a similar spec charger from other manufacturers, so expect to see more entrants to the charger market and with that comes competition.
  23. Quick update - it was the alternator! Replaced alternator, new belt = all working well!
  24. Should be covered by warranty IMHO, as they essentially sold a defective car to you. Is the warranty a skoda warranty as if so I’d be tempted to talk to other dealers in the background if this lot are refusing. I wouldn’t be driving the car anywhere though with a split bag.
  25. Looking for something else and I happened across a photo from early 2006 of my 1999 B5 Passat Estate: 1.9 TDI (AFN) auto. Six CD changer in the boot (Gamma?). Awww Gaz

  27. I'd guess rear propshaft coupling as well based on my experience with a Mk2 4x4 which was similar - what's the mileage on the car
  28. Hmm, seems to be 3 different ones listed, all with claimed compatibility to space saver, maybe any of them will work? Try ordering one from your local dealership and see if they're willing to swap it for one of the others if wrong? Cheaper than that mail-order one, I think, if dealership isn't out of your way.
  29. i did compare archives - in Audi were 11 extra files in Škoda were 369 extra but files, which are present in both, have identical content with just different Date Time
  30. I will have to let other owners of facelift mk2s confirm or refute that there is only a partial cover.
  31. ? Why was it booked in for a Coolant change? Was it not a Skoda Approved Used Car with a Warranty and Serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendations, Schedule or Specifications? With the history of that! Rigorous PRE SALE CHECKS, which is why a Premium is paid to buy an APPROVED Used Car. (Lost my flying pig again.) Was it burst and having issues hence the Coolant change, or did they burst it?

Update on ^^: I've found this tool to check the content of the archive: https://github.com/pschlan/vw-mib3-map-validator Everything looks good!
  33. I have a cover under all of the scuttle (plastic trim the wipers come through), don't know the part number
  34. MFG pricing for EV charging 79 pence kWh is quite some price. They are getting customers at their chargers. Maybe the chancellor can do something in the Autumn Budget Announcement to help private drivers with the cost of public charging via the VAT rate.
  35. But all you need is for price competition to force down prices at 800V chargers to benefit. The V4 SC is rated to 1000V, but I do not know if they are throttled to approx. 400V for the moment.
  36. Shame some companies are hacking the prices through the roof. We got an update from shell that prices are now north of 80p /kWh, which means she’ll (and others) are now emergencies only. At this rate they’ll price themselves out of the market or if they all do it, substantially shrink that market.
  37. In the UK, they are used to warn that the central white line is changing from dashed to solid (continuous) - you’re not to cross a solid white line (eg no overtaking).

Oops.. Apologies I must have misread
  40. I bought Lemforder ones from ECP for about the same price - the Lemforder ones still have the VW Group part number on them. The one that is closest to failing on my wife's 2015 VW Polo, is the OSF and it looks to be the centre metal part that is trying to escape from the mounting material. Just one comment, as you have not made this clear, there are 2 voids in these mountings and they are both different sizes/shapes, so, as well as making sure that the arrow points in the right direction/ orientation, the correct shaped void needs to be on the inner side and so on the outer side. VW Group, well at least VW, describe them in maybe a strange way - ie in using the shape of the voids to differentiate between the 2! Orientation of bonded bush detail.pdf
  41. If my local dealer is to be believed, some time in the New Year, with deliveries due to start in Q2. According to the configurator (which is never wrong 😂) - the SE L Executive and SportLine are still available to order, or more precisely, they don't have the 'This trim is available from stock only' label next to them.
  42. Hello Scott, welcome to the forum. Is that a Skoda Approved Used warranty? I can see no reason why that would not be covered, the issue is well known - to the point that VAG brought out a revised expansion tank without the 'Mit Silicat' insert.
  43. It seems a little unlikely that an injector would fault only when engaging reverse gear - as per other suggestions, I'd be inclined to look for an electrical fault.
  44. I'm pretty sure the software was developed more recently than 30 years ago...
  45. Adaptive Lane Assist is a great feature, keeps the car dead centre in the lane. I only use ACC and ALA when on long distance highways / freeways, otherwise I stick with standard LA.
  46. If you are giving it away can I have first refusal please? You can keep the £20K, I will take it away for free.
  47. LIN is purple yellow is power black is ground
  48. Blimey, over a year I first posted about this. Anyway, it's still an issue, no DAB. That said, I have a few advantages on my side now, namely VCDS and more free time not that changes have been made at work. 1 Fault Found: 0013 - Antenna Amplifier 1 for Digital Radio B1270 13 [009] - Open Circuit Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 6 Fault Frequency: 1 Reset counter: 24 Mileage: 188633 km Date: 2023.05.28 Time: 20:02:42 Voltage terminal 30: 14.4 V Status of digital radio antenna 1-Antenna current: 0 mA Status of digital radio antenna 1-Connection between radio and antenna amplifier: Open circuit Status of digital radio antenna 1-Connection between antenna amplifier and antenna: Not available Status of digital radio antenna 1-DAB_Bit_Error_Rate_FIC: 16.777215 Status of digital radio antenna 1-DAB_Bit_Error_Rate_MSC: 16.777215 So, based upon the scan and the post above, all points to the antenna amp not being connected.
