  1. The part numbers generally are unique for a part from a specific manufacturer. The logistics scheduling systems struggle to manage to order from two suppliers with the same part number. The SAP system at Bosch could not manage that. As I stated Bosch had the plant in the UK suppling all over Europe so it was original fit. When I visited it was certainly making parts for BMWs that were only built in Germany, amongst many variants.
  2. To clarify VAG group have their own part numbers for their parts that they buy. In this case Bosch have their own part numbers for the assembly and numbers for all the components. Yes Bosch had an alternator factory at Miskin near Cardiff just off the M4. It closed in about 2012 and moved production to Eastern Europe.
  3. My battery has never been low enough to prevent first time starting. The intelligent charger has stimulated the Stop/Start system. Worked at each halt over the past two days around town. Even once with the headlights on. Looks like a success. Thanks folks for all your "inputs".
  4. I'd tend to disagree, based on this graph that I made a few years ago of the coolant and oil temperatures and oil level during a short journey and then for a while after shutdown, out of curiosity. 2003 Polo, BBY engine. The data is available on that car, but yes, couldn't vouch for the accuracy, although it tracks the coolant temperature quite believably. X-axis is time in seconds, I reckon.
  5. Blame these Guys The bridge hasn't worked since 2019, however due to extra money gained from HS2, the good new is next year hopefully it will be repaired, made structurally sound and then hopefully back working again.
  6. The eco tips stay disabled. I don't know what you're ranting about.
  7. Turn them off? Only to find they come on again at every subsequent start-up. And have you ever wondered about the bright sparks at Skoda who dream up this unnecessary stuff just so they can charge more money? It surprises me that I have come so far (and others, too, I guess) in my driving career without the need for all this electronic frippery.
  8. Cheers, I suspect that's the one as it's also shows that icon on the VC at the same time. Took me a bit of searching to find, it's a bit hidden. Hopefully that's sorted it now 😃
  9. Must be switched off in two different places. If they are so annoying, why don't you just turn them off?
  10. Thanks very much JR. I've done that, and got the information. Very helpful. I can now at least go to the shop with the info I have, and find out what will and won't be suitable. Big Thanks. ... and the new car showroom.
  12. I think you must understand that the car is in charge; not you! Remember, Skoda (and others) are aiming towards autonomous cars and we are the guinea pigs. These so-called eco tips drive me wild. 55 years of driving and my car treats me like a novice 😠 .

UK configurator is still for Superb gen3 🤔
  14. I've got a direct link to the Roomster workshop manual , a PDF zip file to download and a link to it unzipped https://drive.google.com/u/0/uc?id=1af6lijSW9wMtIk78Ae4MEl9KtwEWyKkL&export=download for zipfile https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1CZMS4GkOTdvjJcd52m3oa6Vp8ujO7tXF?usp=sharing for unzipped I hope it is useful.
  15. Hmm, I wonder if a previous owner did, and became aware of possible future problems. 🤔
  16. I dont think you need to now. I was mistaken, they are not LED, I thought they were because the DRL is a strip at the bottom of the headlight which is in fact a seperate lens, it contains a single bulb which doubles for sidelight and DRL being at a lower intensity in sidelight mode. The sidelights work correctly so it must be either a programming problem or something amiss with the body control module, I have in the past tried and failed to get the coming home/leaving home function working but that was a long time ago and the DRLs worked until quite recently. If I do the non Maxidot setting procedure (pull indicator stalk back and hold up for 3 seconds after turning ignition off) I can hear a small relay click each time.
  17. Does the Fabia have the double synchro cones that the gearboxes on the bigger vehicles have? They are pretty much unburstable, in fact its very very rare to hear of worn synchros these days but you never know what abuse a vehicle may have suffered from previous owners. I still cant reconcile a crunch on an upshift sounding like a Police siren, also worn synchros manifest far more on downshifts where the input shaft speed needs to be increased either by the synchro ring or double declutching with a blipped throttle, a slow measured upshift will go smoothly without any synchro as the input shaft speed falls while declutched, it needs precise timing but easily achievable unless you are my niece or my friend in Picardie both of which are very nervous drivers and snatch every gearchange as if the ground would open up and swallow them if they did it it any slower.
  18. Almost certainly worn syncro hubs. These hubs are cone-shaped and act as a clutch to match the speeds of the gear clusters before they mesh together. By double-declutching, you are matching the cluster speeds without relying on the synchromesh. I assume you know that the de-clutching technique is different, depending on whether you are changing up or down gears.
  19. Yes I tend to use Waze too, but the inbuilt satnav is there so IMO it should work properly! If you have the time perhaps you could have a quick look at yours please?
  20. Yes it is from the same sensor, that is the point. But I am hoping that whilst the panel display inhibits a reading below 50c, the actual data available from VCDS might show down to much lower (ambient) temperatures.
  21. Try never to get near this stage as then the battery is far too low and could have caused other issues and warning on your VW start/stop car, not to mention it won't be doing the battery any good - prevention is better than cure. My advise is as much as you can when required fully charge the battery in your circumstances then you will better better and extended life out of your existing battery and its replacement. Good luck.

  23. My wife's 2015 90 hatch factory suspension isn't great and not very long lasting and it very, very rarely gets anything close to spirited driving. Very unpopular view I know but best tuning is driver training, and it's transferable to other cars (and I've had a very little and still am not a good driver), then timely full servicing, maintenance and repairs and good quality appropriate tyres. Cosmetics is just personal taste and fashion (like the oversized wheels and tyres from the factory let alone upsized later) for fashion remember the three spoke alloy wheels. Put on whatever cosmetics please you, probably best if they're legal, and if you later want to sell the car if they'll be appreciated by those you want to sell to, or accept you've had the enjoyment of them and suck up any loss from them (or perhaps you might gain if you chose to suit the sales potential). Just having a fully cleaned and polished car, fully inside and out, usually looks very good and perhaps good contrasting colours (currently fashionable or not). Don't spend all your money and have none left for timely full servicing, maintenance and repairs, German engineering quality ain't what it used be last century, or Mk1 Fabia or Mk2 Fabia from what I've read here. Mostly, enjoy your car the way you want. 👍
  24. If you look on the internet you will find there is a colour coding for the bayonet type connectors which will identify what they are, if you see the same colours on the proposed new radio unit then you should be safe. In any case the resource will tell you which function for each connector.

Bonjour ColinD, merci pour votre accueil. Hello ColinD, thank you for your welcome.
  26. Success! Ws able to flash the VW ROW 2024 using the System Information method. I had a look using the SWDL method but I wasn't able to unselect any of the options. Clicking on the green ticks didn''t change their status.
  27. I wonder if there's even a thermostat or water pump problem too. Not sure I'd expect overheating in London at this time of year even without working fan.
  28. Unwise to let it get to such a low state of charge in the first place.
  29. Easy ....if as you say 80% of the charging is done at 3A....& you have a 096 case size battery, which are usually 70Ah.....therefore 80% of 70Ah = 56Ah, divided by 3A =18.66hrs.... My Ctek MXS10 (which has 8 separate charging "steps") does the "bulk" charging at 14.7V at 10A..therfore it takes 5.6 hours to get it to 80%...this is why my battery, & the charger cables & the charger get warm....way more current is being applied...
  30. Well, at least it has functional anti-drain valve. Some oil filters have either a bad quality or no valve at all and then it takes ages for oil pressure to build up.

Hello to the entire Skoda community, I'm very happy to be a new part of it, I'm currently using a Kodiak for my work, But I should change very soon for another Skoda. Warmly welcome, the language of the forum is international English. We do t mind; quite like it really, posts in your native language, with a translation as best as you can. thanks.
  32. I meant the genuine VW-Group part number, in the same sense that the genuine (VW) part number for your whole alternator is 06F906023F, as seen in your photo. I could work out the correlation via a couple of pages in the parts catalogue, 'alternator versions' and 'alternator and single parts'. Two points of interest now that I'm looking with morning eyes on a larger screen. "Made in GB" on the main part number label. 😲 And just above and to the left of the barcode you can make out some of the Bosch part number info of the regulator/brushpack itself, I think. BR14 - H, and then below that F 00M 145 316, possibly A different view might reveal all of that latter bit, which is how Bosch identify their brushpack/voltage regulators in detail. Be careful if you do try to change it in situ; the thick output cable connected to B1+ is fused, but it'll be a fairly heftily-rated strip of metal, so if you forget to remove battery negative first, and short that to earth, there will be a big flash and crackle before that fuse pops.
  33. Forgive me for posting this review of the Octavia here but I found it interesting as it's given me my first proper idea of the colour of my new Superb, which is currently somewhere between an unnamed foreign port and my dealer in the north west of England. There appear to be very few Royal Green skodas out there so choosing that colour was a bit of a gamble but I have to say I rather like it (thank goodness!)
  34. Menopause? Very forgiving of her if she knew you had a spare lined up! 😄
  35. Tonight was possibly the last time swimming this year...hopefully back at early in the new year...pool opening times etc all depending!.. Anyway manged 80-84 lengths (lost 100% accurate count) of a 25m pool in 56ish mins...& two full underwater lengths..(single length at a time & start at the shallow end, no diving in & harder). Foots doing ok ish..breathing is back to how it was pre-covid, when I was last doing loads of swimming...& I'm finding my rhythm much easier...!!!! Still slow compared to when I was doing 100-110 lengths in 60mins back circa 2008, or when I did 200 lengths in 1hr 49mins in 1992 (Swimathon'92, could have been 10mins faster if had not shared a lane with 5 other people).......but I'm older & the body is a bit more FUBAR since then!!....😂
  36. I spent part of this afternoon in the local turner's shop where Derek modified a DSLR lens support for me before he skimmed this Suzuki cylinder head.
  37. We all know that bridge is really in Arizona now
  38. I used to work at the smoggies footie ground on the odd occasion and remember seeing this amazing bridge/transporter as I drove in
  39. Auto is for ease of driving. Why would you want to keep shifting from D to N and back to D all the time? I use stop start all the time, so at least I'm doing a little bit to help pollution levels.
  40. Only those with start/stop and its associated different battery types and charging system, I believe, which I don't think is all from that date.
  41. I think I'll just leave this here and wish everyone a very happy Christmas.

  43. I have to agree with that. Provided you buy the correct grade for your engine there are no BAD oils on the UK market. Better to buy £20 oil and change it every six months than £40 oil and change it once a year.
  44. Hi Josif, I missed that you are in Germany where many drivers switch between summer and winter tyres on different wheels. The 16 inch wheels with a deeper profile will certainly be more comfortable than the 18 inch, and as long as the circumference of both tyres is similar you should be fine. the website Tire Size Converter will let you compare the two tyres. I think that there are also German websites that list the approved wheels and tyres for cars, and that you need to comply with these requirements to be legal. Apart from that, the use of bigger diameter wheels with lower profile tyres is largely a fashion-led drive to 'improve' their appearance and disregard their comfort. Auto Bild have excellent tests on all-season tyres, and the ones I listed before seem to come out top with them. 45. Cannot answer the question but - as I am sure you already suspect- you can virtually guarantee that a Skoda dealership would charge top dollar to replace with the same crap discs that cause the problem. I am sure that an independent would supply and fit Brembos for much less money. If you do get some prices it would be really interesting if if you could post them here.
  46. I'm happy with 17" wheels for summer and 16" for winter tyres. Mind that 16" rims require low-profile balancing weights, the front brakes are so close.
  47. Hi @Rupertthebear, Thanks for you sharing your experince, do you have the same car, karoq 1.6 TDI, isn't 18 inch tires rigid on that? have you tried something smaller for experincing more comfortable driving? Cheers,
  48. I use it the Skoda sat-nav in preference to Google maps, but that said, for the vast majority of my journeys, I tend to know where I'm going. I don't use sat-nav enough for any clunkiness in the user interface to be a nuisance. Entering an address in the Skoda system isn't as easy as Google maps, especially as you can use voice control for Google maps, which is really handy. The voice control on my Skoda is rubbish, which considering it's a 2019 car, is a big disappointment. I'm not a big fan of Google Maps, which I find tends to give very poor instructions. Example: Google maps tells you to leave the M42 at the "Bickenhill Interchange". What it means is Junction 6. There is no signage on the motorway that tells you junction 6 is the "Bickenhill Interchange", so it's a poor instruction. Obviously it's clear on the map, but it's a silly mistake the Skoda sat-nav doesn't make. I've also found Google maps gets confused on some roads under certain conditions, but that may be down to urban conditions affecting the satellite lock. Whatever the problem, my Skoda system is more dependable. I've navigated a journey with both Google and Skoda sat-navs running, and I found the Skoda sat-nav gave more timely instructions than Google maps. If I could only use one system, I'd choose the Skoda system. If I was a delivery driver, I'd probably choose the Google system, as the voice control is so useful.

Well after a month I finally have a new second hand fuel pump in and it's working perfectly. Nice and silent. It's so nice to not hear that horrible whining when I start the car. The first one I ordered got lost in the post, brokers refused to refund me so I had to get my bank involved for a refund. (Specialist Dismantlers, Oldham) please never use them. This company had some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Lies and being fobbed off at every turn. The second one I ordered from a different brokers arrived with a broken outer case, so my mechanic and I had to disassemble the old unit and use the outer case from it on the new pump. (UKVechicleDismantlers - through eBay) Although the outer case was broken the customer service and packaging was very good. Hopefully this will help anyone else with a similar problem.
