  1. My daughter sadly lost a nearly new Michelin Cross Climate to a particularly savage pothole and whilst having a replacement fitted I came across this beauty. The owner was happy to chat and gave me permission to photograph it (although i obscured the reg plates)👌
  2. 1969 has been released! I have updated several cars and works like the VW / Seat version in smoothness etc.
  3. Exactly. Hence why I have just bitten the bullet and went to the dealer. Peace of mind with the warranty. There was a couple of other places offering it for between £650 and £850 and I was tempted but at least with Skoda there will be comeback and capacity to repair any damage and they will use the correct OEM parts. I will also be making sure the complete kit is fitted including all tensioners.
  4. Mine was a BKC, a proper tractor! At least one of the other codes I think I recognise as the common rail engine, it was that I thought I was buying, the car was advertsised as a 2.0 TDi and not a 1.9tdi. I only test drove it for a very short distance as according to the garage report it had a broken engine block, I didn't even go through all the gears. Driving home I had difficulty selecting 6th gear which the 2.0 TDi would have, then I saw the gearknob pictogram showed 5 gears didn't stop me keep grabbing for the gear though 😁 When I got home and looked at the paperwork properly the V5 showed it as a 1.9TDi, all the garage service paperwork was written 2.0 TDi and if it were not for the advertised "ice cold AC" being non existant I would have believed the retired owners genuinely believed it was a 2.0 TDi. It was still one of the best bargain deals I have ever done though, the "broken cylinder block" was simply a broken engine mounting fixing on the alloy alternator bracket, a £20 second hand Ebay one was with me the very next day.
  5. The AA guy looked a little puzzled and was presumably seeking advice from Head Office? I was passing in my 21 year old V8, but suspect a jump start wouldn't have helped matters ⚡️
  6. A few from Calke Abbey this afternoon...........
  7. @Graham Butcher Scoring like that is not uncommon oop north. Gritting done with more grit than salt can be the cause.
  8. Leave the battery in place. With the ctek you’ll get an M6 eyelet quick charge, put one of the terminals on the positive and the other on the chassis in the post below The rear discs being crap is very common, caliper failure not so much and will be fairly pricey I imagine. Get that sorted and the compartment under the seat sorted and hopefully you’ll start to like the car. It’s always horrible getting a car when your gut is saying don’t, but hopefully that’s the only issues you’ll have with it
  9. Personally I’d leave the battery in place and charge so that any permanent live systems stay on. May be other considerations that others will state though
  10. @Mr Grump this is latest Skoda wheels brochure (even has Superb mk 4 and Kodiaq mk 2) https://www.skoda-auto.com/_doc/6d5c59b3-5d97-451a-ab78-2ef185e6e373 There is also a winter wheels brochure (wheels plus winter tyres), useful for reference as these often have smaller rims and deeper tyres https://www.skoda-auto.com/_doc/c829936c-f0c1-48a3-bd99-55a507038e8c In theory anything in the catalogues should be available for parts Dept of your dealership
  11. Not any old Firenza but one of the 204 (two hundred and four) "High Performance" (aka droopsnoot) cars made.
  12. Have you got anything to back that up? as i dont think thats the case at all.
  13. If your car is less than three years old you may be able to persuade them to replace the battery under warranty. My local dealer did this for me just before my warranty expired on my last Superb.
  14. Sorry I thought I made it clear but sorry obviously I did not, yes what they have put is correct - "(AGM) with absorbent glass fleece (or "mat") ". AGM is fleece, AGM binary is a different type of battery that AFAIK you would not be offered when entering your car details on a supplier website. I've never seen a binary AGM battery when looking for car batteries so I've no idea what is on their label but I don't think you need worry about getting one without a good search specifically for one. The first bullet and link is to give conformation, and lots of other information if wanted, that you 'code' as "fleece". Second bullet and link is to confirm what AGM, fleece and mat(t) mean and give more information, if wanted. Not many companies actual give information about their products now and the internet generally has become sales over information, information that was previously available no longer is. In the video there is an illustration of what the binary battery internal looks like which you can compare with your info from Continental. But - You do not need to follow up on any of this information as you have the correct AGM battery and know the correct term for the 'coding' (there will be several reasons why the binary alternative is available on the 'coding' machine but you would need to ask the 'coding' machine supplier or VW exactly why, good luck with that task. Your English is great, my explaining and English are what are lacking. My warning was to do as you have done and that is not to take anything you read or see as being necessarily correct and to check and do your own research. Obviously you have to decided how much needs to be done or is worth doing for whatever the subject is. You should get very good use and life out of your new battery but remember the basics, even if new or newer a battery is just a store so you can deplete or empty the store (constant parasitic drain, heavy use, faulty charging system) so some time in the future, possibly year(s) you may want to check the battery and do a preventative charge with a your Noco (or perhaps a very long drive with low electric consumption). If you revive your old battery, to any extent, it may show you and confirm the benefit of using a battery charger maintainer when required. Cheers.
  15. Transporting wind by air or sea for another country to generate electricity, has the world gone mad? 🥴 Maybe that is what those sail powered cargo ships are for, they can be propelled by it whilst collecting and storing it. 💡 I have heard of Food Miles, now we have Wind Miles!
  16. It is interesting how the story says "How the UK generates electricity" a subtle twist or spin in the headings. We import from Denmark for some wind "A quarterly record was also set for offshore wind generation in the last three months of 2023, which was “largely driven by the 0.8 GW in new capacity,” "Construction on Viking Link, National Grid’s sixth interconnector, commenced in 2019, involving more than four million working hours. Initially operating at 800MW capacity, it will gradually scale up to its full 1.4GW potential over the coming months." https://www.energylivenews.com/2024/01/02/national-grid-activates-worlds-longest-land-and-subsea-interconnector/ Nuclear also comes from France It is fantastic to be able to have renewable energy but for the story to claim that we generate it ourselves in the bits people will quote is mis-leading. The UK uses more energy from renewables than fossil fuel "National Grid is already looking ahead, having announced joint plans with TenneT for a new 1.8GW interconnector named LionLink between the UK and The Netherlands. This second link between the countries is anticipated to be operational in the early 2030s."
  17. well, i've preliminarily agreed a deal to swap it for another one. With far fewer miles and better kit. Tuesday to get the hifi out and then hopefully Wed / Thu we can complete the deal...then the new one goes for cambelt and probably an oil change and a look-over.
  18. Thanks so much for the recommendations and apologies for the delay in acknowledging. I ended up trying MAD Motors in Santry and was really impressed. They were fantastic and i got the matrix, flush, timing belt and water pump done for just over 2/3 of what Skoda quoted me for just the matrix replacement. Am raging at that particular Skoda agent, that is an absolute disgrace. I am never going back to them. As for MAD Motors, I'm recommending them to everyone!
  19. NB GPS based speedos are not a legal replacement for conventional speedos
  20. Do you know how often I should charge the new battery for good maintenance? Some guys say check every month and if needed then recharge. others just saying about general info on how the charger is working and its functions but not specifying maintenance charge intervals for best performance and condition. Im guessing that this is one more confusing thing to deal with as no manufacturer will say how to perform maintenance on any of their products for that matter because they have to make a profit doing this by them. Thanks by the way for all info you provided here to help not just me but everyone who perhaps may have same issues or questions to be answered. Cheers.
  21. At least it scratches up the discs to a shine and gets rid of the surface rusting we get down here in the relatively balmy, if damp and wet, winters here in the East Midlands / (West) East Anglia region of England (north to Lunduners). 😊
  22. Hi , sorry I couldn’t get a better picture of it hopefully I will go get one tomorrow and see what happens. I will keep you updated with my progress and let you know if I need a motor repair as well . Thank you so much for your help .
  23. 20% is for wimps. Try North Wales (Harlech)…
  24. if your SOS module is crashing / going offline you will likely need to get the dealer to update the actual modules firmware which is seperate to the infotainment software update. If you are still under the original 3 year manufacturers warranty then there is a Škoda issued TPI - you should be able to get the dealer to update both the Infotainment software and the SOS module firmware at no charge (although the dealer will often claim they can’t update the infotainment software - don’t believe them, they can).
  25. I've had 2 pretty long journeys now with no faults, also put some BP ultimate in (I know but....) The main things I've done so far is cut the ends of the n75 pipes so they are totally tight. Changed the n345 and also found the 1 way check valve wasn't working. Obviously I am not assuming I've fixed it but I want to make sure everything ( that's cheap) even vaughly connected with the egr is ok Edit and maybe more importantly I have pressed on the egr connection as well as I could just in case
  26. Thank you I will have a look through. Yeah that makes sense. To be honest I don't use the nav much. I use waze through android auto mostly.
  27. Yep that's the table I found too.
  28. Be sure that the Filter is being replaced with a DQ381.
  29. Even with a 'fly by wire' throttle, there will be an end stop on the pedal potentiometer - the throttle tap may help to eliminate this as the cause.
  30. From a GPS forum,
  31. In EU there’s different kinds of plugs 7pin and 13pin, don’t know if that’s also in the UK? The 13 pin gives much more information about what it’s towing (caravan have more lights and stuff going on). My car now at least recognizes it’s towing a bike rack and not a caravan or trailer, so it doesn’t start the trailer assist guidance.
  32. Just had my 2019 2.0tsi 4x4 sportline with DCC fitted with an OEM towbar even though no towbar prep was specced with the car. Dealership didn’t want to do it because importer said “no”. Found a VAG specialist who went the extra mile and called with Germany, where they were told the car just needed an extra wiring loom of €69,95. Now I have an OEM folding towbar on a car that was not possible according to the local Skoda dealership, that looks and works as if it came OEM from the factory. DCC shouldn’t be the limiting factor here! If coded correctly the car should recognize what it is towing (bike rack or caravan/trailer) and adjust its systems accordingly.
  33. @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits can recover this
  34. Currently preparing for retrofit, purchased cable and cover, but not yet installed. Waiting warm weather conditions to work with plastic parts.
  35. Is one side not Clockwise and the other anti-clockwise?
  36. The short answer to these questions is:- I doubt that it would make any difference now what party the next London Mayor comes from, the revenue stream has been created and they will not want to lose it. Vicky Ford appears to be making zero difference with the pot holes, congestion is getting worse, the ECC is Tory lead and they openly admitted that they have deliberately slowed the traffic entering my city and you will have seen my other post regarding the woeful provision of EV public charging in the city. Public transport in the city is also dreadful, all the supermarkets are towards the city fringes and are not served by any regular public transport, so the only way for most people to reach them is by car. City centre is rapidly becoming a venue for eating out and residential areas are springing up everywhere in the centre as many shops are converting what was upstairs sales area, into flats, office blocks being converted to flats.
  37. Sold my R5 so on the camera phone for now. A few shots from the past few weeks.
  38. So lacking any other possible cures, I took it to 'SatNav Systems' just off the A3 in Surbiton. They (Hamid) assessed a faulty main board and changed it and updated the firmware and map data whilst I waited. Not cheap but I think a fair price for a very professional and friendly service.
  39. Please explain how to get altitude displayed on screen Thanks
  40. Fitted five new All Season tyres last November. As well as doing the brake strip, clean and regrease I do in the autumn. So 6th service done on Saturday and MOT today. Service is an oil, oil filter and cabin cabin filter one. Battery wanted charging but the car has had less use than in previous years. It is now up to 49 K miles. The tyres/wheels were rotated and alignment checked as usual. MOT was straight through no problems. Brake and emission test results all good. Removed O-S-R wheel arch liner and still all good with no signs of rust around fuel filler. Sprayed a layer of paint around the neck while it was off. After 2.5 years the small plastic bung I found in the car when I bought it, has been put where it should go. It was missing from a hole below the left side B pillar under the car by the sill. I knew it was worth keeping it. It just took me a long time to find where it went. 😒 Checked for fault codes, only one historic one that I cleared. Updated the service history on ERWIN and reset the service warning using OBDII. All good with 'GoGo' and plan to keep this one long term as well. Thanks. AG Falco

The next mod has started, door handle courtesy lights. Just awaiting new connectors to wire into the door loom.
  42. Its still a lever operated throttle position sensor connected to the pedal. Mechanical lever that can stick, or what I tried to explain, does not fully return to its end stop. Particularly if there is lots of debris around it. All the cars I referred to were "electronic" or fly by wire throttle pedals as has been the norm for decades.
  43. Sneak preko into my FMIC endtanks with custom diffusor - idea taken from HPerformance Germany

You sure its not this little fella that has met its eol? Ac regulating valve.
  45. Brake lights should come on when you are Braking/slowing down they should not need to be on when you have stopped. Anyone who runs into the back of an already stationary vehicle isn't paying attention.
