  1. Almost all of us reporting this problem seem to have a mid to late 2023 or 2024 1.5TSI manual Karoq, so this will be the evo2 engine, ie new version without the engine cover. So I think Bigjohn may be on to something linking the issue to the evo2 engine.
  2. I will never understand the logic of hard acceleration as a cure for DPF clearing. That action emits the most soot. Forcing the car to rev its nuts off will also add soot load The system normally just needs to be at operating temp for long enough for the process to start, run through, and finish. Driving on a motorway at a constant speed 50-70mile an hour should make the system clean if it doesn't the system needs checking over
  3. Obviously lots of very short journeys, no amount of servicing will really help offset the damage from never getting properly hot but replace oil and filter due to condensation contamination and spark plugs because modern engines eat them, anything else is really a waste of money but try and persuade your mum to run the car on premium grade petrol only as this will help keep the fuel and exhaust system clean and reduce any pinking on light throttle openings.
  4. Check for fault codes for sure. You can also monitor lock sensors microswitches as you lock unlock. But I would not dismiss a mechanical problem like the linkage cable being too tight. Spent a week searching for that and replacing 2 x lock modules when I bought my used vw golf r mk7!!
  5. I had that on a car over 40 years ago, the problem was that no coolant was reaching the temp sensors because of no water flow - if there's no flow then it really makes little difference where the temp sensor is!
  6. @sussamb Your 6 years ago built 1.5 TSI appears not even to have been part of those with the Kangerooing if yours was not part of the RECALL, DVSA SAfety Related Recall. So a 2022 or 2023 1.5 TSI is a whole different kettle of fish, or bag of worms. The only Similarity might be how long it takes before VW Group / Skoda admit to possible issues and investigate, issue a TPI or what ever.
  7. That Hill Hold link is really about a Manual. But the DSG and Hill Hold Assist / Hill Hold control is much the same. But the DSG should never Stall even without Hill Hold activated. It is activated when even not steep when there is Autohold by pushing the Brake Pedal hard enough. Autohold holds all 4 wheels. Hand Brakes / e Brakes just rear wheels. You can use a Hand / Parking brake for Hill Starts, even when you have 'Hill hold assist', as that is only a couple of seconds from brake pedal to accelerator. If i am stopped and waiting at a Traffic Light / Pedestrain crossing on a slope and i am foot on brake pedal i still apply the Hand / Parking brae to ensure not rolling back. e-Brakes / and Autohold can do away with that, but if in someone elses car i still will flick the Parking Brake switch, just to be sure to be sure. one foot driving, automatics, semi automatics and all the features is no reason not to drive now as you learned if you did in the days of Hand Brakes. & nothing extra...
  8. Find yourself a good local Indy. I had my DSG (DQ381) serviced last week with genuine oil and filter and it cost £184 including VAT. Can you do the pollen filter and plugs yourself?
  9. That's what hill hold is for, the ABS Unit will hold the vehicle while your foot goes from brake to accelerator, preventing roll back
  10. No recode needed, just direct hardware swap. Nesrly a year one still no issues!
  11. I read this as a humble brag about your wonderful climate!

You have to use a Skoda SD card as it has a security section.
  13. mint condition original superb parked next to me today

No Non-Disclosure agreement was needed or signed. Thanks for the welcome.
  15. Yep, not sure why they changed that. My old Passat (2010) didn't do it but all our later cars with autohold do.
  16. I do not have 'Easy Open' and that option is missing on my screen. I presume that it is only displayed if the car has the functionality and the OP does not have Easy Boot opening.. (Similarly other options that I do not have are not displayed on my screen).
  17. Alex Robbins the Telegraph motoring expert covered this very subject today - apparently in Auto Express tests some locks could be removed in around 5 seconds. Other locks such as Stoplock, Milenco and Disklok all took over 5 minutes with the Stoplock ProElite taking top honours
  18. There's a full list on the ODBeleven website. I actually did some changes last week; - vRS theme on virtual cockpit - electronic trunk sound of - Scandinavian DRL (tail light always on) - 30 color interior led - lane assist memory setting - auto rear wiper off Worked great with OBDeleven Pro and 200 credits. Paid €140 and used 150 credits. I coded the interior led manually. Everything else with the so-called one-click apps.
  19. Do not change the cam belt since it has a timing chain if a Mk2 1.2 TSI Euro 5. @Prezafab The DQ200 DSG gearbox might not need changing the 2 oils because there is no service schedule for that. But has it had the Service Campaign '34H5' done since 2017, which was on some DQ200,s from 2013-2015? *FREE* if outstanding. Do not let anyone touch the DQ200 that does not know what the are doing. The Service Campaign was because of failures, heat, pressure, leaks, cracks. There is no filter to change. Less dismantling required with a Fabia.
  20. Not in 10 months and 4900 miles on this planet. Ventilated discs are not two discs, they are cast as one single piece, the ribs would take decades to corrode through even if left on a beach and washed by the salt water tide twice a day.
  21. Well the 19” Craters went for a refresh at www.fixawheel.co.uk. Full chemical strip and then powdercoated in a delightful shade of dark grey. Very happy how they turned out. l’ll be selling my winter wheels shortly which are Škoda Mytikas 18 x 7j with 7mm of Nokian tread, which incidentally have an almost identical rolling diameter as the Craters! Expect a full advert with pictures in a few weeks!
  22. The Scania CEO has been on the BBC news channel with an annoying Australian that presents a finance programme. The CEO was very good with info on the Scania,s and Northvolt batteries, charging, driving time directives and stuff. The Australian just annoying IMHO. 1.5 million km battery life for the HGV,s. The future keeps getting nearer. These were and are cracking cars. Maybe just too expensive to build for BMW at the time, and then the price to buy became high, while there were Government grants. They managed to cut overnight the price in the UK. Then stopped the production.
  23. Current lead times Skoda Karoq from a Dealer website
  24. Yeah. I hear you @Ootohere. I've been using the handbrake when stopped at lights on a steep hill that I regularly go up. I'm gonna try out the Hill Hold Control feature when I'm on a hill and it's clear enough behind, just to see how effective it is. After that, I will be applying discretion in using the handbrake as well, if it's a particularly difficult slope.

Sentence makes me think of the thermostat not working correctly, but I'd be loath to spend out without more than a feeling. Pass Well I do have an idea here; change your garage!
  26. As others have said, that's why Hill Hold Control is bundled with DSG's (And some manuals) Autohold is much better but it's not fitted to VAG cars with manual handbrake.
  27. As indicated in the diagram the connectors are not directly inside the pressing. You have to remove the footwell trim panel to access the connector. The connector is 150mm below the grommet on the body. It is indicated in the first image I posted. For rear doors it is down by the seat belt reel.
  28. This 2021 forum discussion may be worth reading through. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/489586-fabia-10-tsi-110hp-dsg-7-tips-tricks-advices-experiences/
  29. Very likely electromechanical thermostat failure. If the car is on it's first at 10 years 116k that would be amazing. More likely this will be the second replacement.
  30. I think it's possible with VCDS after looking at some golf and other VAG forums. If I manage to do it I'll get a recording and post up a how to guide.
  31. No need to recode anything, errors went away and never came back.
  32. Into Park, Parking Brake on, Foot off Brake Pedal. Stop the engine if you are. Best not keep the engine running for 2 hours. Turn the car off and listen to the Radio using your smart phone.
  33. That's what happens when an idiot uses a 6mm Allen key instead of 7mm.
  34. I replaced both filters in march last year. Then it was 112 492 km
  35. Replaced my Škoda Superb 4x4 L&K air and cabin filter today. A nice 20 minutes of tinkering. Mileage: 126814 km • Air filter: OEM code: 5Q0129620C - MANN-FILTER C 30 004 / cold climate filter - €12.61 • Cabin filter: OEM code: 5Q0819669 - MANN-FILTER FP 26 009 - €15.69

Yeah, format the original card and copy the extracted files to it. May be worthwhile to copy the existing files to a backup device. Good luck. 👍👍
  37. AFAIK the screen is just a screen, if you bought and put in a replacement screen ("same model number display on eBay,") and it didn't work then the screen is not at fault, it's the glovebox unit that's at fault. Sounds like the screen is not connected to the glovebox unit or glovebox unit is not getting power or isn't coded correctly to the car if it was ever replaced by previous owner..
  38. I found an ignition system specifically made for Skoda engines. They even have version that uses MPI ignition module to get rid of distributor. However, it seems that it lacks any sort of vacuum advancement. https://www.vrbamotorsport.cz/programovatelne-zapalovani Edit: according to this article, they can use throttle sensor for advancement, they also have a variant with pressure sensor for turbocharged engines and for flywheel sensor used on SPI/MPI Felicia (I wonder if carburettor engine uses the same flywheel as injection Felicias?). This would allow you to use the distributor system as a backup.
  39. They’re probably going to be in a hurry so surely anything that makes a low-life give even a few minutes pause makes them more likely to look elsewhere? steve
  40. It's Thatcham Cat 3 approved, same as the disc lock.
  41. On the bright side they can't steal the air from your tyres if they can't get the tyre caps off 😉
  42. Octavia makes good foreground... .
  43. Never understood why people call it canbus error free/monitoring. There is no canbus involved at all, its simply open circuit and current monitoring. Sending a halogen or xenon bulb a canbus signal would mean absolutely nothing and wouldnt do anything.
  44. Front caliper slide bolts rarely need replacing unless they are somehow severely corroded pitted, or damaged. In which case you should check the guide bushes aren't worn or damaged as well. They just need a quick clean and very light coating of brake grease applied (but not on the threads). Tighten 30Nm They don't need loctite either.
  45. Skoda has never had maps from 3rd party apps show on the instrument cluster to my knowledge.
  46. +1 I've been using Android Auto for many years now and I've never seen instructions (Waze or Google Maps) shown on the driver's centre cluster. Same deal with those who have the Virtual Cockpit. It will only ever show the built-in navigation maps and directions.
  47. I use Waze and have never seen the instructions on the dash as you describe. You can change what appears there using the green scroll button on rght side of steering wheel if that helps.
  48. I gather its too late but there is a company up in Preston who will re plate them, I know its not the same but I had a Van that could only tow 2800Kg and I wanted it to tow 3500kg, so I contacted the company and they sent me a new plate showing the 3500kgs
  49. I cannot see why it should make a difference - but try something! When I first acquired my Kamiq - my first automatic - I too noticed that the stop-start rarely operated, although it didn't particularly worry me. However, when one day I changed my body position whilst stationary and unintentionally pressed harder on the brake pedal, the engine suddenly stopped! After experimenting a few times, it seemed to be the case that if you only applied light pressure that nevertheless was enough to hold the car stationary the stop-start would be inoperative, but apply more pressure and it came into play. It does not make sense to me, plus it is a pain in the arse pressing so hard that it is uncomfortable, so most of the time I don't bother.
  50. There's no need to switch into N while stationary for short times. Even in D with your foot firmly on the brake the clutch(es) are fully disengaged as in N anyway. The clutch will start to engage if you only apply light pressure to the pedal though. But you'll feel that as the revs rise slightly and the engine note changes.
