  1. If your battery is at an age where you might be anticipating a replacement in the foreseeable future don't rule it out as a cause of your problem. I've been lurking on this forum for 11 years and seen members tearing their hair out with strange and wonderous problems which all came down to a failing battery - even sometimes when the evidence suggested the battery was fine. I did experience this myself with odd and unrelated things happening when the car got to four or five years old, even though the car started every time without problems. I took the risk on replacing the battery (thinking it wouldn't be money wasted and would cost less than a couple of hours of mechanics time) and everything was back to normal. As Skoda say "Simply Clever" but for owners sometimes "Annoyingly Frustrating". It's only a suggestion if your battery is getting a bit long in the tooth however.
  2. Lee (The Macmaster) used to live a couple of hundred metres from my house. So I know him and he does a lot of food reviews directly around where I live. Obviously it's an entertainment channel and he's not like that in real life. But yes he bought the wrong car for his usage, he specced up a basic model which is financial suicide and he bought an EV when they where top money. The Youtube videos have more than made up for the financial loss though. I've recently bought a nearly new Karoq but the dealer was definitely pushing the Enyaq and I could have had a delivery mileage 204PS 80 Loft Enyaq for similar money to the Karoq. That's a massive discount on new.
  3. Are the glow plugs in good condition, they're 9 years old now, and it sounds like they've never been as good as they maybe should be?
  4. Pretty sure it's either black & white or full colour rather than just red & white. Looking a the April 2016 brochure, only the L&K had the full colour as standard. However, it was an option on the SE and SE L. Can't see any mention in the July 2017 brochure so the full colour may have become standard over the range. superb0717.pdf superb0416.pdf

Indeed me neither, but I would have thought that a flush is not a flush if any residue still exists. Plus it's a brand new tank, matrix & coolant. I'd expect my coolant to be crystal clear ( albeit with a pink tinge ) after a bill of £889.90 I'm basing my opinion on what my coolant looks like, both before & after a belt & pump change, and it doesn't look like the OP's. However I've never had a flush due to a burst-bag so could be mistaken.
  6. If your friend has a scan tool he may have access to information from that that tells him where the diagnostics port is or have a users forum that might tell him. He only really needs to put in the correct type of battery (EFB on your case), the correct Ah (75 Ah, make sure your friend inputs this correctly, unlike a professional auto-electrician we were told about on here) and the new "serial number" (if this is 1111111111 from factory or not it can be changed to one on to 1111111112).. The make of battery means nothing now, if shown on a 2021 car(?) (previously a VW three character code). HTH.

It still looks a bit sludgy to me. The flushing agents are a two pack, pink and clear. The invoice also includes a for new tank which I guess has no silica bag. Typical scary main dealer pricing for the heater matrix, £283.86 vs £49.00 from Autodoc, ditto the flushing agents ( aka Clean Set ).

Camera now installed, decent quality and picture good, worth the money and effort in my opinion. Reverse sensors still operate with audible warning too. It's got adjustments for colour/brightness/contrast that's about it it shows the modes of display, see pics. A little time consuming to install, taking the rear hatch panel off and routing the cable to the display but I've done this sort of thing before on another car, so expected. Get a set of trim removal tools, makes it easier and protect the dash with a cloth/towel to rest the display unit whilst out. Hope this helps others who are thinking about installing this particular camera, Sinosmart.

Another bag rupture victim 🙄 Perhaps the colour of your coolant has been affected by flushing agents? At least you haven't got the headache of having to deal with the disaster when it happened - something to be thankful for. And if done by a main dealer, then it should be warranted for two years, I think. I think if it were me, I'd leave it as is and maybe request a coolant change be included in the next service if the colouration bothers you. G12E050A3 is G12 Evo 👍 so it's got the good stuff in it. Gaz
  10. Feedback: Much to my surprise I got the alternator out with too much trouble. (Very pleased with my self, as it was the first time I did anything like that on a car) The drive-belt was a bit tricky as I did not have the prober torx-bit to hold the small pulley thats mounted to spring. I did not have the correct size brushes, but I did have some spare brushes for a makita belt-sander. With a bit of saw-file-work they fitted fine and was easy to solder. 100Km later and the car is running fine(*). - no more battery-symbol-warnings in the dash *"Fine" as in: that specific problem is gone 😉 Thanks for the support. Kind regards Troels

I’ve got an identical tank on my GTI - one with ‘mit Silikat’ on. If there is a bag in yours, it’s very easy to find. You should be able to both see it with a good torch, and also feel it with your fingers. I oiked mine out as soon as the car was out of warranty. It was very easy to do and took moments. Having said that, I suspect you don’t have a bag in there. But it does look time for a coolant change IMO. Gaz
  12. For a service that should be based on trust, it’s a shame some don’t subscribe to that view… On the flip side, after a white knuckle motorway ride across the country to south west coast early this morning with not one but three limp mode occurrences (all resolved by pulling in and just restarting) I went to another dealer, just to see if they’d read codes and let me know was it safe to return drive tomorrow. They were very helpful (as they had been at Christmas 2 years ago staying late to fix a non-closing boot hatch so we could return to Dublin). Results highlighted…..crankshaft speed sensor (!!) and lambda sensor. So…a clear hats of to @Crasher @petrolcan and @Warrior193
  13. Having picked up our new Scala Monte Carlo on Friday I wanted to protect the fabulous Velvet Red colour against the usual elements and sun fading. Dan, a Gyeon specialist from Dynamic Details Ltd in Basildon, Essex, did a fantastic job giving the car a mirrorlike finish. The paintwork has a full ceramic coating plus top coat, the wheels have been fully protected along with the brake callipers painted red and Gyeon coated. All the windows and panoramic roof have also been treated. He also PPF protected the top of the rear bumper which should help with wear and tear when getting things in and out of the boot. I can’t wash the car for 2 weeks, however on the way home the heavens opened and the hydrophobic properties were amazing, the rain just flew off the car leaving it almost dry by the time I put it away.
  14. Little update to this: canceled the part order, took Mike's advice and formed a new gasket with a thick layer of RTV. This worked and there are no more leaks.
  15. Fixed! It wasn’t the wire, but I followed your lead and removed the starter - it was the brushes, one of the 4 was completely gone. Ordered new ones and I’ll replace tomorrow. Thanks!
  16. Thanks, that's good as I like the look of them. Stuck with the 16" as less vulnerable to kerb damage.
  17. Are those the 16" Proxima wheels? I'd already checked the configurater for the SE L and told the salesman I didn't want those horrible aero covers but he looked and said no they don't come with them. I didn't see any mention of them in the configurater and they aren't shown when building a car. If they do come with the car I will be telling them not to fit them and they will be going in the bin! Edit: Whilst posting I see that Willie says they have been dropped, thankfully!
  18. Yep, have to agree. I asked dealer not to fit them as I had bought centre caps and nut covers prior to delivery. Covers still wrapped in their sealed bags up in my loft, where they will remain for some years. Anyome want them??? Haha.

You can't buy the old piston rings that gave all the trouble so it'll have been upgraded to the latest spec. if it's had a rebuild using new parts, CTHE is not a different engine to the CAVE it just has a few revisions to address the problems.

  21. Hi Paul52 I think that I will replace the battery as i have no reference of how old it is. As you say it has no starting issues, but it can’t hurt as it’s not 100% healthy.
  22. More than happy to recommend, based on experience to date… Liam Lynch Motors, Farranfore, Co. Kerry
  23. That would only really true for traffic that was coming into Dundee and going onto other places such as Perth, Forfar or Arbroath etc. Local traffic i.e wanting to go to or from the University of Dundee, to Hilltown or Stobswell etc would more than likely use the A991 and not cut across the city centre, the entire A991 inner ring road, which forms the boundary of the city centre is actually less 1.75 miles in length and the centre itself is just about half a mile North to South and East to West. The A90 is roughly 1 mile further North then the most northern part of the A91, so is not near to the centre at all.
  24. Just found a Youtube video from Australia showing the port is under the dashboard on the drivers side near the door, hope this helps someone.
  25. The negative EV videos being a great Youtube subject aside Lee will openly admit a Petrol/Hybrid/Diesel would have suited his lifestyle and mileage much better. It's been a lucky consequence that all his troubles have resulted in a massive increase in subscribers and some of his most watched videos are EV videos. Prior to the EV he was 99% Travel and Food channel.
  26. Not sure if it can be retro fitted but I opted for it on my 85 Edition, love it.
  27. The OP is asking for advice. Given you’ve not read their entire post, I’ll clarify; they stated they believe the OE’s units were already replaced. As for age/mileage related failures, our 2016 car OE shocks are fine - they’ve done 49k. The OE shocks on SWMBO 21 year-old Focus are fine. They’ve done 81k. Shocks tend to fail independently, so a failure of all four at the same time would be unlikely in the extreme.
  28. Hmm raise it with them and Skoda customer services if you have to. Last thing you want to do is fork out loads in the future
  29. They will place the same part according to your VIN, so no changes there. Though before accepting the car, check that all SW is updated to the same version as before. When they were changing my infotainment, they were giving me car back with 1668 every time 🤦‍♂️ If they change only screen, I guess that might not be the case, though I can never be sure that people working on front desk know what they are talking about and what exactly will be changed. So better to double check.
  30. No idea as i have not been aware of any fumes around and about for years other than from the bus station or stances and the taxi ranks where they used to sit engines running for 'Long time mister'. & i do not carry anything that can read particulates. Lots of not so old diesels kick about the area at times 'rolling coal' though. Audi, VW, Seat & Skoda,s being the most common. Best to just avoid. Unless you want your medicines but you can get them delivered quicker than a carry out / Pizza etc, or even with your carry out and probably by someone driving an EV.
  31. ah this makes sense (ofk this is all in relation to air transport but......) These changes have been adopted by ICAO into the 2025-2026 edition of the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air (Technical Instructions). The objective of these changes is to reduce the potential risk posed by lithium ion batteries in air transport. It has been demonstrated that reducing the state of charge in a lithium ion cell or battery reduces the potential for a lithium ion cell to go into thermal runaway. https://www.iata.org/contentassets/05e6d8742b0047259bf3a700bc9d42b9/lithium-battery-guidance-document.pdf
  32. I updated through the files provided in this forum. I did it via usb and everything went smooth. All was completed in 15 minutes and ran fine. TBH, I never had an issue with 1941. But just wanted to have the latest and greatest. So all good.
  33. and that is probably where my confusion about the state of charge being relevant kicks in. Surely it makes no difference if the battery pack is charged to 20% or 80% the amount of chemicals in it that can contribute to a conflagration remain the same
  34. @Graham Butcher You are constantly having a field day with it. Do not get a BEV and stay well away from them.
  35. Or indeed in and around lots of other places. You can bet the conspiracy people will have a field day with that. Also remember, no one is stating that the battery started the fires, only that the involvement of them in the fire made fighting it almost impossible to do.
  36. I've been trying to track down the new cooling mat from the facelift Octavia. However, the parts catalogue isn't available online yet. Looking at the design of the updated rubber pad and other cooled chargers, I think that the cooling effect would be negligible without vertical channels creating an air pocket under the phone. The other issue is that the "Phone Box" is listed as one piece, so in theory you'd need to order plastic housing to get the rubber mat. I've also discovered coding in OBDeleven in the 5F/Multimedia Module that would enable fast charging via the "Kopplebox" aka phonebox. Module 5F Multimedia > Adaption > Function configuration phone > Deactivated/Activated i'm not sure if the "Kopplebox" is the charging pad or just the two port USB-C hub. But my hunch is that it is the USB ports because this MIB3 test unit sold by Volkswagen mentions having a "kopplebox without antenna" and I can't see a wireless charger anywhere on the unit. But there is a dual USB-C hub. So in theory this coding could enable 45w charging from those ports on our pre-facelift cars. However, I can't verify if the USB hub has a new part number until the parts catalogue for the facelift is released.
  37. Its hard to spot in daylight because of the way the reflectors, well, reflect but easily spotted at night with a torch. There's a small recess and the damage is occurring at the edge of that recess. My warranty expires next month but I don't fancy my chances of persuading the garage staff that the issue is there, unless they view it at night. I would love to know if there's a TPI about it. The German Skoda forum is silent about it.
  38. Don't get me started on main dealers! I did the first brake fluid change on a very long standing customers new purchase A3 last week, a service was was included in his deal but not the brake fluid change, so I did it and he took it there for the service; they refused to clear the dash service warning as I had done the brake fluid even though we are an independent repairer with VAG and access to the Digital Service System even though I had entered the job as an additional task and printed out the certificate. If Sytner Audi Nottingham ever want to know why we do more Audi's than anything else, I say look in the mirror! Bunch of Cntsu 🙄
  39. Fuel starvation?
  40. Yup - the boot latch switch has died. Common fault. Take off the back panel of the boot lid and replace the switch itself. They suffer from water ingress.

Hello Folks. I've recently bought this. It's a 2018 4x4 version with a few factory options including the pan roof, keyless entry and obviously the 19" wheels. I wasn't sure if anyone on here had owned it before I bought it from Wings in Peterborough but would be interested to know if a previous owner was on Briskoda.
  42. The screen doesn't need coding in....I would use this opportunity to replace this screen (it looks like an Amunden system) with a screen from a Facelifted MIB system - which should be drop-in replacement. The early screens from a non-Facelifted car do seem prone to failure.
Cordialement vw-mib3-infotainment-update-guide-3-13-2024.pdf
  44. Hi I’ve just signed up as I picked up a 10 month old Scala Monte Carlo 1.0 DSG last Thursday. It’s my first foray into Skoda’s after many years with Suzuki’s - hopefully this will be as reliable! J
  45. Just did a check: repair shop says the refrigerant level was at 350ml and he added up to 550ml. Pressures with the engine idle-ing were 10bars vs 4 bars. Feedback was that the radiator is dirty with bugs and the fins are bent and do not cool well enough. First step would be to take the front bumper out and clean the radiator. If this does not improve the situation then the radiator should be changed
  46. Overthinking it IMO. Just use the car. The DSG will last as long as it lasts. Millions of DSG,s are driven in many ways by many people. Maybe just do not leave a DQ381 to 80,000 miles before an oil change and if you ever notice an issue with it do not delay in having it checked out. PS With DQ200,s & DQ250,s in slower traffic putting them in S has usually been the thing to do to stop them hunting between 1st and 2nd. It was / is most annoying with a 7 speed twin dry clutch as 1st is so low, compared to a 6 speed. (So a bit more like a 7 speed DQ381.)
  47. @strett Welcome. Get the Dealer Principal to call you back and tell them that the customer service is crap. Put an Email to the Dealership asking for a call from the Dealer Principal as well. The Sales Staff is their responsibility. If they tell you tough luck and they make almost no money from selling cars that might just be right, because they are hopeless.
  48. Head gasket leak would normally be seen as an emulsion when the oil filler cap is removed. tom
  49. I had my efb battery replaced and coded in for £150 at me local trusted independent garage on my last mk3 Octavia. I'd take yours to a trusted independent first & have it load tested. You may not need a new battery yet. I certainly don't trust main dealers.
  50. Yep. I asked dealer to leave the trims in the boot and not to fit during PDI, now up in my loft in unopened wrapping bag. Whoever thought these were a good idea needs sacked, but probably something to do with improved aerodynamics! Cost me less than 20 quid for the centre caps and wheel bolt head covers.
