  1. Took down my old summer house and been doing several trips to the tip I got fed up with the tarpaulin I was using falling down so bought a hippo bag medium (1.8m long x 90cm wide, fits rather well with the seats folded down 😁

Back in April last year I had the misfortune to have my car written by someone else, this started a massive car hunt for a replacement and some may remember I posted some photos of a white Superb which looked odd, and I thought that it might have been hiding something, I post these photos again here. To cut a long story short it was, at the time I had a loan car and the insurance company indicated that they wanted me to accept their valuation of my old car, and they wanted the loan car back. I'd driven well over 1,000 miles looking at other Superbs, and none of them lived to what I was looking for. I spotted this white one on Autotrader and as all the good cars had been snapped up within a day or two of being listed, I phoned the instant it appeared for sale, was told that the car had not been prepped yet so was not ready for viewing, so I decided to put a deposit down to hold it so when it was ready, I had first refusal, as long as the deposit was refundable, I was told yes. When the car was ready, I was called to view it. Off I went, with my son to London, when we got there the car was soaking wet from where they had just washed it, the inside was not prepped to any real degree, the car had its chrome trim put back in place and was hanging off in places, the windscreen has massive cracks in it, doors and bumpers had dents and scratches and the tailgate was very noisy in operation. The photos used in the listing never showed any of these, apart from the chrome trim was missing. I rejected the car, and then they refused to refund me as promised, I had a feeling something was wrong at the time, so I paid the deposit with my credit card for the extra security. My bank got my money back for me. I did some checks on the car while I was waiting for it to be prepped and discovered that they had actually used photos of the car, taken a year earlier, just prior to its MOT in March 2022 and the car had a fresh MOT on it when I saw it, that had already alerted me that this car was dodgy, and guess what, the dealer still has this same car on sale today and is still using the 2022 photos of it in the listing. I'm so glad my spidery sensors were working when I placed that deposit and not used my debit card, which I would normally have done. Tomorrow, 1st of June I'll have owned my current Superb for a whole year, and while it had 140,000 miles on the clock, it has proven to be a pretty good car overall, all the major items timing belt, water pump, brake discs, pads etc had been done, yes It's had a few minor issues since I got it, but is to be expected on a high miler. It passed the MOT again and breezed through the emission test, so all looking good.
  3. I'd be more worried about air pockets on refilling Coolant systems are often vacume filled i.e. get a vacuum in the empty system and then let let vacuum suck new coolant in, filling any high up air voids as part of the vacuum 'suck'. You could end up with poor/no circulation if just pouring in liquid left an air pocket.
  4. My Skoda Estelle Rapid ... Owned Brand New from dealership in 1988... I do require help & assistance from group members on a few items I need to keep car on the road. The car works beautifully with only 30,000 miles from new but alas I need to source the odd item 😬 🚘 🚘
  5. No.1 reason why I bought mine
  6. Happy roadtrip/hollibobs! 😁 I wouldn't bother heading south too much - looks like you've got all the good weather up there. G
  7. Red too, well done on keeping the colour.
  8. BEV still not really there when compared to ICE - max. 4 fuel stops, totalling around 20 mins and only 1, or possibly 2 cards needed for entire trip.
  9. Thats right, and they also come with a “special” Skoda dealer price too…🙄
  10. The plain one is a bit more upto date. I've yet to see any updates on the "Essentials" version.

Stick the reg number into the search box at chipex.co.uk and you'll find the VIN in the resulting URL at the top of the page.
  12. Have you removed the "flow straightener" from the air filter box. It is very restrictive. Removing it from my 1.6 tdi improved the bottom end torque and improved the fuel consumption by about 2mpg.
  13. I had a check on Play Store today for my daily updates and there was an update for the newer version of the skoda app and it installed itself and all of my measurements are now in imperial (UK) as per my profile selection.
  14. I have got the use of a vacuum bleeder if required, was just going to drop everything from bottom hose and refill with g12+ with vacuum bleed knowing there will be some original coolant in the system
  15. Hello, I'd suggest pulling the plugs and check their condition and gap first. Use a proper coil pack extractor so as to not damage them when removing.
  16. Skoda did not sell many Mk2 Fabia vRS hatches new in the UK, under 3,000 of them and not many world wide. But the Hatch is 9 3/4 inches shorter than the Estate, would have had better performance times and efficiency than the Estate or the Polo GTI 3 or 5 door or the Ibiza Cupra, and the same VED band as the more expensive sister cars. VW cunning stunt and Skoda,s is to design, test and manufacture 25kG of Ballast weights and bolt them to the rear crash bar. Result being the Kerb Weight is given as 5 kG more than the estate, the car goes light under acceleration and there is more wheel spin on the narrower tyres the sister cars have. The Polo got the battery in the boot, the sister cars spare wheel was an option, so that is 19kg less for the test cars for the official Kerb Weights. (Which were later revised because they were false. The sister cars can have a tow bar and tow, the Skoda Twinchargers can not. While others 'Add lightness', VW sand bag the car rather than just fit appropriate springs and dampers. Vorsprung Durch Technik. Save a few grams, and add many Kg and materials to be sure the lighter and faster car which is cheaper is that no longer.
  17. Jeez. Prices have gone up massively since I used Hippo last. I just checked & I paid £149.99 for a Mega bag collection in Aug 2020. I filled the bag with waste soil from a landscape project at home which was easier than doing multiple trips to the dump (lockdown issues) & with no tarp to protect the car. TBF I use my local dump quite regularly for a variety of stuff I can't put in our wheelie bins. A few weeks ago I had a double stacked fridge / freezer in my Superb. Must have been over 6ft high / long - no problem. All hail the estate car.
  18. Skoda's IT lets down the marque on many fronts. It is at best rudimentary. This is a backward step for anyone with a perfectly functional iphone which does not carry iOS 16 or better for whom the essentials app continues to function. To describe it as making the digital experience more convenient it is little short of a joke! Appalling!
  19. I had to give mine another spray too the other day, followed by the Air Vent re-calibration procedure, just to get the vents moving through all their positions. I spoke to a colleague about this, they also noted that the actuator can be external to the vent so spraying a lubricant might not always work. My theory is it's the shaft that gets dry and the Louvre rubbing off the vent piping. So spraying covers both, and also weaps along the shaft, eventually spreading through the mechanism. Anyway results speak for themselves, my vents are 99% quieter in their movements now and no error codes; temp limit of actuator reached etc.
  20. Looks like it might be new battery time. I was told the V70 had a new battery. It did, in February 2020 🙄 I took the seller at his word about it being 'new'. On the Norfolk trip the low battery warnings stopped, so I presumed it'd been revitalised. Turned out to not be the case as they started again three days after we got back. It still starts fine. My battery charger (old school - probably 40 years old) is at my Daughter's, who is in Thailand at present. So I got myself a NOCO Genius5 charger/maintainer, and left the battery on charge overnight. It was at two bars: But by this morning was charged: So I went for a c.30 mile drive. Got home and the low battery warning came straight on again 🙄 And it's back down to the two bars. I've set the NOCO to 'repair' mode now, so we'll see how we go. I suspect I know where we're going. The car's only done 2,000 miles between Feb 2020 and me picking it up, so I think the battery's probably slowly died of boredom/neglect. No reason to think the car's not charging, although I've not yet checked to be certain. I would think that it is, given it improved on the 580 Norfolk round trip, and was okay for a short while. A quick look suggests a Varta or Bosch battery is around the £130 mark (direct from Tayna), so not too bad in the grand scheme of things. I'm glad it hasn't got stop/start. Gaz

Bushes or pins first. Then the rack and yes I'd get a garage to supply and fit an exchange rack. Then tyres. And finally alignment, which would need doing after the other suspension work anyway.

What a story ... I would have thought in the civilized island these things do not happen, as opposed to us in "sunny" southern latitudes ... 🙄 I guess this is also "globalization" at play 🤪
  23. Oh thanks for suggestion @nta16 😏.. btw @Thefeliciahacker can you suggest a gasket sealant that I could use ... To ensure I'm using a correct workaround solution > can you direct me with an ebay link item ? ✌️😉
  24. @Warrior193 Obviously i chose to have a small battery BEV & it to have a small car that i enjoy driving and that i can get a charge on a AC charger quick enough for moving on. I would not rather be in a new 200+ mile between charges 2025 MINI. Or a 300 mile Tesla. If i want to head off with a diesel or petrol i can do that. I like the craic at chargers. There for the banter.
  25. As well as Kenlowe you could look at the Revotec fans and fixings but they are expensive and the switch relays, when I had them at least, not as good as they should be but you could buy the fan and make your own fixing and wiring, or use what's on the car perhaps(?). T here used to be people that worked there that you could actually talk to over the phone (or at shows) about 5 years ago but I've no idea now.
  26. For electric driven (and switched) fans for other "classics" some have just bought from scrapyards (and/with shrouds perhaps) off other makes and model of cars and had lots of luck with fit and years of reliable service (I would never had such good luck, I didn't not even with some brand new expensive systems and parts). There are many aftermarket fans and kits available that can be attached to the radiator, if you have the room a fan that sucks the air through (rather than blows through) is more efficient. You can also have variable switching so you set when it activates and override switch to switch it on when you want (this always seems like having a dog and barking yourself to me). Best thing is to have all the cooling/heating system clean inside and out (engine, radiator & heater matrix) with coolant that is still in good condition and all parts and components clean and working well. Also, again, have you had a look and considered also posting in Skoda Classic Cars & Parts For Sale. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/406-skoda-classic-cars-parts-for-sale/ HTH.
  27. Excellent 😜😏🚘 thanks

Hi sorry for the delay in answers i open the certificate of conformity and it says date of manufacture 29/02/2024 and yes we have what we asked for which wasn't a lot SEL with part leather
  29. Stocking up with munchies for a 1,500 mile or so Summer roadtrip starting shortly. Maybe around 18 charge sessions required Enough charge cards carried incase of phone issues with these and an Osprey and E-life plus about 8 apps including for cheaper charging the Tesla for a non-tesla charging.
  30. See what the wire colours are that go to this connector, I may be able to tell you if it really is related to oil level/temp sensor.
  31. Good day, I own a Fabia 2011 1.2 and recently I thought my battery died. I replaced it and still it dies every few hours. I performed a multimeter test on each fuse and got to fuse 20 which dropped the electric consumption. I did a test and left the car parking without fuse 20 in place and indeed the battery survived. Looking at the manual, the cause MIGHT be the fuel pump relay but I can't find its location. Would appreciate your assistance. I would like to get the relay replaced and see if that solves my issue or it's another part that's also depends on fuse 20.
  32. I had same issue replaced stalk job done.
  33. Happened again. Took it into dealer and has had the heat exchanger on the high voltage side changed. Good job its still under warrenty.
  34. It's the stalk, replace it.
  35. Must be on the input/stalk side of things, since the same IC within the BCM powers the indicators whether they are triggered by hazard switch or stalk.

You could try 1K0511115BG rear springs. These are normally fitted to the Octavia MK2 front wheel drive estate with towbar. So if you've got a hatchback, they might be two or three up in the hierarchy to what was fitted in the factory. Lots of rear springs sold to replace (but not always matching) 1K0511115BG listed on autodoc https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/1k0511115bg?supplier[]=246&supplier[]=85&supplier[]=37&supplier[]=253 KYB RH6788 rear springs (matches 1K0511115BG) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235478942810 Kilen 63118 (matches 1K0511115BG) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355735726130 If you want to refresh the rear shock absorbers when changing the rear springs, Bilstein B4 19-183749 and Bilstein B6 33-158723 rear shock absorbers should both be suitable. The Bilstein B6 are particularly nice, because they have a superior mono-tube design whereas the cheaper Bilstein B4 have a standard twin-tube design. However, even the Bilstein B4 should work as well as the OE ones. 37. JR RS Thanks again, will get studying, lol
  38. Come off it. His lifestyle!. His troubles at charging stops are manufactured as nobody even him is that dim as forgetting how different chargers work. He hit a winner and a BEV is where the benefits are with the HMRC. Up and down & across the country like a blue arsed fly and earning by filming doing it. Nobody is interested in doing that in a Petrol, Diesel or a Hybrid even a 911.
  39. Pretty sure it's either black & white or full colour rather than just red & white. Looking a the April 2016 brochure, only the L&K had the full colour as standard. However, it was an option on the SE and SE L. Can't see any mention in the July 2017 brochure so the full colour may have become standard over the range. superb0717.pdf superb0416.pdf
  40. The negative EV videos being a great Youtube subject aside Lee will openly admit a Petrol/Hybrid/Diesel would have suited his lifestyle and mileage much better. It's been a lucky consequence that all his troubles have resulted in a massive increase in subscribers and some of his most watched videos are EV videos. Prior to the EV he was 99% Travel and Food channel.
  41. Lee (The Macmaster) used to live a couple of hundred metres from my house. So I know him and he does a lot of food reviews directly around where I live. Obviously it's an entertainment channel and he's not like that in real life. But yes he bought the wrong car for his usage, he specced up a basic model which is financial suicide and he bought an EV when they where top money. The Youtube videos have more than made up for the financial loss though. I've recently bought a nearly new Karoq but the dealer was definitely pushing the Enyaq and I could have had a delivery mileage 204PS 80 Loft Enyaq for similar money to the Karoq. That's a massive discount on new.

Car will be at the dealers today and ready for pick up Monday afternoon, if not before. 12 weeks as told when I ordered.

Hello Folks. I've recently bought this. It's a 2018 4x4 version with a few factory options including the pan roof, keyless entry and obviously the 19" wheels. I wasn't sure if anyone on here had owned it before I bought it from Wings in Peterborough but would be interested to know if a previous owner was on Briskoda.
  44. You're lucky, we have had a 4 month wet spell.
  45. Gandalf got a wash over the weekend after a 4 month dry spell 😁
  46. Personally I find the double press a pain in the ar$e. It is the first car I have had that needs that and I don't really see the advantages to it.
  47. Usual 3 button fob locks and unlocks the doors as it should, but the tailgate only opens on the middle button, regardless of the others. So I peeled back the gaiter and lo and behold... looks like I need to do a bit of work here... and while I was playing electro, I had a look at the passenger door wiring because the mirror isn't working...two broken wires. I wouldn't have checked that if not for this brilliant forum!
  48. G12 should have better corrosion protection, which is crucial on these engines. But you have to flush the engine properly, as G11 and G12 don't mix well. G12+ supposedly mixes better with G11, but I wouldn't risk it.
  49. I have just fitted my next base dash cam. It has been in five or six cars. This was the easiest fit of them all. The wire went behind the trim at the top of the windscreen easily. Down the left hand side of the screen, fairly well Hidden. When I pulled off the oval shaped piece of trim at left of the dash, there was a bolt for the earth. (10 mm bolt) I used fuse number 47, which is the one for the rear wiper. The spare cable tucked away behind the oval cover. *When I started I took a photo of the fuse diagram with my phone, which made things easier.
  50. https://www.skopart24.com/shop/Satz-Schmutzlappen-hinten-p147378824 You just need to use white tyre pen to pick out the letters. Skopart is very good.
