Gandalf's latest "project" is complete....Front Grille DRL light bar. Towards the end of last year Skoda released the new Kodiaq which has the front grille light stripe - I saw that and I decided that's my new project. The new mk4 Kodiaq... Been planning this since last year. I'm happy with how it's turned out. The light bar is connected to and controlled by the BCM, so it dims and brightens like the factory DRL, with the same coding. I used an empty lighting channel, Leuchte8F LB39. The front grille has an opening that is perfectly in line with the headlight's DRL - so perfect alignment for the light bar. The light bar I made myself, using an LED strip, a plastic holder, and a light diffuser. Fingers crossed that the light bar hold up against the elements. The light bar I made... Test fitting the clips to hold the light bar behind the grille. Mounted and wiring routed on the bumper to use the same path as the factory PDC and headlight washer wiring. Wiring from BCM was routed through the firewall, into the engine bay, they down to the factory wiring harness for the PDC and headlight washer.

Absolute rubbish, a driver should not have to adapt his style to overcome what are basic deficiences in the design of the engine. I have owned over 40 cars through 60 years and have never experienced the engine dying at roundabouts and junctions apart from the Karoq, at these moments you need full acceleration on tap not stalling!

Apparently tonight's Moon is 97.5% full (Waxing) and is 367,816.3 kilometers from Earth 🌛 The colour may relate to atmospheric pollution - stunning colour nonetheless!

Just wait till your car is a write off because the onboard software is unsupported after 7yr. Plenty people chucking away other (otherwise usable) electrical kit for the same reason.

Did you nick that one George? I don't want a new one. Told the chap no electric, no hybrid. Keep it simple.

Get a 12v to 5v converter hardwire kit and piggyback into a live or switched live (whatever it needs) in the fusebox by the drivers door. Easy then to remove drivers A pillar trim by lifting as you pull it inwards at the top so you don't damage roof trim then feed it under the headlining by the windscreen to the rear view mirror.

Driver's side wire breaks tend to be more common simply because that door is used every time the car is driven. Other doors' usage levels - and so wear tear on their wiring - will vary with usage patterns. Could well have breaks both sides though.

He's definitely messed things up!!! I would definitely find someone local who can do a fault code scan as it seems unlikely all the symptoms you describe aren't leaving some fault codes in their wake!

@Mori17 Welcome to the forum. How about saying what engine and gearbox your car has, and how long you have had it or when this started? Was it OK for how long, & then at some point the battery started going flat?

OK. Maybe not so gentle - but it worked without denting the door. The outer skin of the door was actually dented when I bought it and I took the opportunity when I dismantled it to press the biggest dent out from the inside. If I get the rest of the car working OK I may bother to get a proper door repair. The lesson to be learned is that when reconnecting the outer door handle (for whatever reason you disconnected it) don't pull the lock cable head too tight before sliding it into the handle. If you do it will stop the door catch fully latching. When you lock and then unlock the car in that state the inner and outer handles will remain unable to activate the catch. Thumping the outer handle in with your hand may resolve the problem. Hope this helps someone.

I would say it may have been any of them but the fire was not involving the traction battery. Not every EV fire was started by the HV system, they suffer from the same fire risks as ICE do.

System "Load too High" is just the way VAG flag an indication that battery voltage (SOC) might be lower than normal - this can be caused by frequent short trips, a failing battery, or a faulty charging system.

For a fair and equitable comparison the question should have been more generic whilst remaining specific. eg rather than asking for EV Vehicle only (which in itself is an oxymoron, what's an electric vehicle vehicle??) the question could have said "how many vehicles broken down by EV & ICE......."

Thanks for your replies!! I had a look into the filter/fans and it doesn’t look like there is any debris in there. Blew it with my data vac and vacuumed the filter as well and issue still persist. Might be the servo motor thing then. I’ll have the dealership have a look on my service since its still in warranty and hopefully they sort it out.

well, that will be in breach of EU right to repair laws, so they can take that idea and shove it up their exhaust pipe...

Faulty bulb?

Hello, welcome to the forum. Are you aware that airbag faults are the latching type? - meaning that even if the original fault that caused the fault code has been fixed, the code will remain until it is cleared by using a device capable of doing this.

I like these cars and fugly has never bothered me, but there are some manufacturers doing some horrible Wheel Arch Spats. Subaru, Toyota, KIA / Hyundai being right up there. (with odd angles.)

Gaz, most of our vehicles have oil level sensors and the warning light is to indicate that, is it maybe coloured yellow? The low (or no!) oil pressure light will be red, possibly the same icon and as you say you should stop the engine immediately. I agree with Ottohere that it is unwise to deliberately wait for the low oil level light to come on, its a fallback measure for those who never do maintenance checks on their fluid levels and also to warn of a sudden leak.

I can hear the sound, but really it would need recording for a lot longer to separate the "movements" noises from what you are worried about.

Just over 150 electric vehicle (BEV, PHEV and REx EV) is a rather small sample size...... Even according to the highest statistical likelihood per year seen previously, 150 * 5 * 0.011% = 0.083 car...... Regardless of powertrain, anything greater than 1 in such small sample size is unusual.

14 days is from when you go in to dealership, or online, to sign finance paperwork, just before collecting / home delivery. Not when the order is placed

I think I've successfully updated my Mib3 Amundsen maps database with a download to flash drive & plug-in-and-leave-it in the car. The car was telling me (before update) that the database version was 21.12 (car purchased October '22). It's now showing version as 23.12 so I'm assuming it's done the job. One thought occurs to me - the download (when unzipped & copied to the flash drive) comprised 710 folders - presumably this volume of content covers multiple languages & locations. I didn't sit waiting for the update to work - I let the system do it's thing - but I can't help thinking that the vast majority of what I put on the flash drive was not actually necessary for (or input to) my system. Can anybody with, perhaps, a little more insight cast some light on this aspect?

Updated just not on this thread - Long story short - bought the car at 12 months old from Skoda dealer. Paintwork started flaking (stone chips then flaking), dealer has 'discovered' that the bonnet had been resprayed before they bought it and have offered to pay for another respray. Challenge now is finding a good spray company near me as the one I had been talking to doesn't do private work, just insurance jobs. Dealer has offered to do it but they are 250 miles away so not easy to deliver the car to them.

Depending on the camera, you'll need a permanent 12v supply as well as an ignition-switched 12v supply, as well as ground. It's easy enough to do, and it's very nice to have a dash-cam you can just fit and forget about. Incidentally, I have a Viofo A129 Pro which started playing up after about 18 months. I contacted Viofo customer and between us, we traced the problem to the GPS unit, which they sent a new one out to me for the cost of postage (around £6), I plugged it in and all is now well. I was quite impressed with their customer support, but not impressed that the unit started playing up after 18 months.

Sounds like you did not set the bowden cable correctly sometimes if you unlock and give the losk/door a gentle thud with your hand it jolts it so you can open the door then reset it.

Suspension needs to b in the "loaded" position when u change the endlinks. Not raised or extended. That's when the endlinks and swaybars have the least tension.

You don't need to remove the outer handle or the lock to repair the window regulator. Can you remove the inner handle and pull the cable manually?

I have no issues when I drive daughter's Kamiq - it's a nice drive, actually. And that's with me normally driving autos. At least flag it up to the dealer ASAP - I'd have reported it straightaway. With clutches they'll quickly start blaming your driving style.

Hi mate, Not tried the fuse, but worth a shot tbh. Will give that a go too. I've done the factory reset on the audio system tho and no luck there. As for the garage part... They said it's the usb control unit that's at fault but didn't show me error report etc. They did say they called but part is on back order and they weren't sure when it would be available and they have a very good rep locally so don't think they were at it but no harm in trying another garage for a 2nd opinion tbh. I have however tried Google etc and this forum too but nothing comes up with the control unit mentioned being the issue so think another garage is the best option after the suggested one from yourself and skomaz

Been doing up an old lodge and been working with an old skool slater, sorting and holing slate, also hand cutting slate bullets. Been a labour of love over the last 10 months. Pleased with a silhouette of the slater chalking his lines and another of some roof detail and the renovated chimney. Popped out today to get a few bits and managed a quick snap of the landscape. Check driver's side wiring, I think you may find a relavant broken wire or two there.

Hi Will. On my ACC I just set it to the required speed and it adapts to the traffic, slowing down to a halt smoothly if that's what the traffic ahead has done and then accelerates back to the set speed when traffic ahead clears or it maintains its set distance behind traffic if it doesn't clear. It's that side of the ACC that I like. Hope that helps

UPDATE Just got back from the dealership and it's fixed! They thought it might be the small motor / mechanism that operates the recirc valve that had become faulty and ordered the part in to replace it but when they took the glove box out and looked around it was a pinched wire that had not been installed correctly at the factory, hence why it was going haywire when I used other things on the car. The master mechanic was great to be fair and he put it all where it should be and now I can drive in blasts of cold air. Just in time for a temperature drop and the rain So glad it's done now. Might be worth speaking to your dealer about it as once he identified what it was it was a quick fix.
