  1. I just want to close out this thread with a success story. But first, my personal vote of thanks to you, Prezafab, for your guidance. I took your suggestion that the digitizer probably needed replacement and did more research. What I discovered was that a whole raft of suppliers sold digitizers and there were many types of them. In the end I bought a new set of torx-like screw drivers and some trim removal tools and pulled the radio from the car taking guidance from a YouTube vid produced by “BrokenFixed”. Once out, I could read the part number from the back of the screen assembly and used that to order a replacement from eBay. It cost all of £10 including P&P! Now management has a fully working radio in her Yeti. Again, many thanks.
  2. @PetrolDave This is so true, and you only have to look at the structures of any government these days, they are all made from largely career politicians with no actual skills in any other walk of life. Relying on guidance from other "experts" who are in the employ of someone with a vested interest in a particular outcome.
  3. I'm still the original owner of my 2010 110 CR Yeti in Tangerine metallic (pealing top coat) and it's only done 82k miles. Elegance trim and my wife and I really need the memory seats as we're 2ft different in height! It's had a few issues over the years but to be honest, not as many as it could have. A couple of EGR valve replacements, a couple of throttle valve cleans and recently, a new condenser. I'd put up with the AC failing after a few months for about 3 years so finally opened the household wallet and had a new one installed. Current issues (apart from the pealing top coat on the bonnet and roof) are: Instrument cluster LEDs almost gone. I can still read everything in the dark but it's annoying. I might take out the panel and send it to Cartronix to fix while I'm on holiday at some point. I did buy the LEDs and I can solder but it's pretty fiddly so I'm reluctant to do it myself and make things worse. The alarm failed several years ago. For a long time I simply disconnected the fuse for the siren but a few months ago, I bought a custom battery for about £30. Like I said, I can solder so I thought 'no problem', but one of the connector just refused to desolder. I might have damaged the track or one of the components so, despite it looking like it should work, it doesn't. It chirped once and then nothing since. never mind...the immobiliser locking works so I'll live with that. The alloys are quite badly corroded now and I've been told they are responsible for the very slow pressure leak I have. I've had a few quote to have them powder coated and might do this next because I'm fed up with pumping up one of the them every two weeks. I've recently bought an add-on CarPlay unit so I don't feel quite as desperate to get a new car with modern gadgets, but it hasn't cured the desire completely. Other than that, I've been pretty lucky. My wife absolutely loves driving the car and to be honest, so do I. We've shifter sideboards, dressers, all sorts and it's been brilliant. I think even if we buy a new car I'd ,like to hold on to this one. Maybe get the wheels and instrument cluster done this year and give the inside a good clean (beige interior). So, just an update, as it's been a long time since I posted and to let people know how much I wish Skoda had continued the Yeti. I'd have bought a new one a few years ago if they had! Been a member since I bought the car almost 15 years ago.
  4. A week or so ago I was driving locally when I got a Christmas Tree of error lights flash up on the dashboard. Started with ABS, then stability control, then parking system, cruise control sensor, tyre pressure, blah blah.... Cleared them all with the OBDeleven I bought a year or so again (recommended on here). Drove down the road and the lightshow repeated... Quick search on here, found a thread describing similar symptoms, ordered a new ABS sensor off eBay for £18, half an hour to get the wheel off and fit it, clear the errors again, check it worked - and all sorted! What a great and useful site this is!!
  5. Probably the cheapest and easiest bit of preventative maintenance I've ever done! Replaced the infamous "mit Silikat" silica bag-equipped coolant expansion tank with a shiny new one, without the silica bag. Mine was the version with the separate chamber so the bag can't be removed. Less than 20 quid from Skoda Parts Direct, and they even had it in stock when I dropped my car in yesterday for some warranty work. Part number is 5Q0 121 407 AA. Following a video on YouTube, it took all of 10 minutes to empty it using a meat baster, unclip all the pipes, fit the new one, refit the pipes and refill it. Well worth it for peace of mind.
  6. The only DSG schedule that was changed was the 40k mile service for the DQ250 and that was back in early 2000's All the others have not changed and remain the same since launch The confusion comes with independents doing their own recommendations or dealers/owners not identifying the gearbox that is fitted.
  7. Re the Grants up to £3,750 off EV,s costing under £37,000 in the UK. What a ba-ll$ up really. Great that the likes of the Chinese Manufacturers are taking £3,750 off the price of some EV,s & the likes of Skoda are guaranteeing £1,500 off even if the Grant does not apply to their cars. This scheme seems thrown together. A list of actual vehicles that have had £3,750 taken off the RRP due to the UK Government grant will be inteteresting to see, and those eligible for £1,500. There are Youtube Vids, articles published & still it is very confusing. What is clear as day is that many EV,s were over priced and yet again the Government will use Tax Payers money to have the price paid at a Dealers reduced. That does not mean that they were overpriced though just because a subsidy reduces what some might actually pay.
  8. Do you really, in your heart, believe all that guff? Are you that gullible? I expect that if the governments said that the moon was really made from cheese, and that there really was a London bus or two on it that you would fall for that lie too?
  9. 60 edition max pack with winter pack and the service pack. Been told 12/14 weeks so probably late Oct early november.went with d.t.d nothing could get near them for price and dealer only 45 min away from me .
  10. It is unfortunate electricity zonal pricing has been dropped. Too many vested interest by old players scared of change.
  11. I think priority needs to be Assign primary user. Do the ports work and wired Android Auto Does the car have wireless Android Auto or not. Play with wireless dongles.
  12. @Dave77 & @JR RS Looks like pixel+superb is a popular combination! @OccyVRS I called Meadens, they were incredibly helpful but only had an appointment in mid September, I've booked that in case Winchester can't sort it... Hopefully they can!
  13. Well lads, it finaly arrived... Im surprised too, I could had gone personaly there and be way faster. but its here, now it only needs a ton of restoration work!
  14. That is why many people are advocating the dropping of enforcing all "new" cars will be electric by 2030 and allowing people the free choice, so that they can purchase the right car for them and their own circumstances, rather than 1 size fits all.
  15. Remember there have been many examples in history where scientists have been accused (wrongly) of being the Luddites. Credibility in scientific reports comes from independence, and there have been so many cases where scientists have failed to get funding for research projects offering an unbiased study into climate change consequences and causes. Why is there such a problem with getting funding for independent reports without a foregone conclusion? Because there is virtually no independent funding available, it all comes from companies, quangos, lobby groups, etc. with a defined agenda who don't want questions raised about the validity of their public statements. That doesn't make me a climate denier or a Luddite, just someone with a scientific background of nearly 3/4 of a century who has read so many reports that have proven to be inaccurate because they started out with a foregone conclusion, that in the fullness of time turned out to be inaccurate or in extreme cases just plain wrong.
  16. I've driven from the UK to Klaipėda, Lithuania and I needed just one stop for petrol in Poznan, Poland and I've still got about 200 miles of fuel left. I hope I can do the same in a couple of weeks when we return home. It's a bit different to the first time I took my car abroad in 1971. I had a Mini with a 5½ gallon fuel tank and you'd get about 40 mpg if you were lucky, so I had to fill up every 200 miles or less if there weren't many filling stations!
  17. FYI - you've said that quite a few times now. I doubt I'm the only one who doesn't really find it that funny any more😉
  18. I also have a good indy for our older cars. Uses all genuine parts if I ask. Sometimes I have to guide them. They've just done the Park position microswitch on the DSG selector on the Fabia due to the "Error Workshop" common fault. First one they've done. Not everyone spends all day on here. 😄
  19. Think UK government is most concerned about the division it would cause though we already gave different standing charges by region. Some states in the US have multiple tariffs through the day which make some sense. So the night time would be very low and many places have and then a medium tariff through much of the day when solar is feeding in lots of energy as well as wind but then a higher rate at the tea time period to try and avoid those Peaker plants coming on stream and charging some $5 per kwh. Nobody wants people sitting in the cold waiting for 7 or 8 pm for the cheaper electricity to become available but this is already a reality in California I gather and it is really just the power companies passing on higher prices at peak times or lower prices when electricity is plentiful and companies can and do give it atway. Market forces, supply and demand. Both macro level battery packs at the 40 foot container size that Tesla do with their Megapacks and we do with our home battery packs or portable solar generators that include solar invertors, batteries with AC and DC outputs. I keep a look out for a home battery unit with say 7 kw output or even 11 to 22 kw 3 phase would be great, a few years off. Best I have at the moment is 2.4 kw output but always looking for the next step up which can save money by shifting when I download power in to the house and consume it later as well as having resilience for power cuts as Portugal and Spain had recently.
  20. Re Raw Minerals. Lets not forget the mining at the same places for the same materials for aeroplanes and weapons, the electronics and whatever. Look at how Gazza has been flattened, and all the death and destruction in the Ukraine and everyplace else around the world where there are wars. Wars for Oil, Gas, Minerals /rare earths.
  21. Off to France for 12 days tomorrow morning so this week I’ve given it a full service with plugs, oil and air filters and fresh Castrol. Today and yesterday I’ve cleaned out and hoovered the interior including leather cleaner and full exterior wash finished with ceramic polish. Looking good but I’m sure it won’t when we return home.
  22. I'm lucky to have Rainworth Skoda 5 minutes from where I live. Never had a problem with them, always gone the extra mile for me. I know most of the sales and service staff. If I call in for a chat they will generally throw me the keys to try anything I want. Good will? They replaced a panroof at a cost of over £2500 that wasn't included in the Used car warranty.
  23. Good mod. Did mine a year or so ago. Got my new tank from Amazon for similar price. Only snag now is to remind my independant garage that coolant may need changing a bit sooner & more frequently than before. May also need a different coolant water mix.
  24. downloaded compilation from Škoda portal is useless because Mib3 units have lost option of manual upload for particular stations try https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.58.zip https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_LGe_Europe_v1.31.58.zip https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/ICAS3_LGe_Europe_v1.31.58.zip and report result, on my 2023 Mk3.FL ŠS it stopped work MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.56 - OK MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.58 - NOK :( -> https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/520105-radio-stations-logos-database-updates/page/7/#findComment-5950044

The thread is where you want to upload the logos yourself and out of contract, but I suspect you might get thd logo uodate if the firmware is updated out of contract. You can fumble with the information screens to find what radio logo database you are on and compare with the above. There is no way to manually enter your own png image for missing logos. VAG closed that route down. Its a gripe of mib3. Haven't got mib3 myself. What I would say is you just unzip those files and present correctly. You can't tinker with mib3 files. It won't see them if you do. Use the latest 7zip for unzip or the latest windows file manager to drag and drop the files onto a blank USB-C. Adapters for type a to c are not recommended since some are not fully wired for data. Reversible memory sticks are liked with a data flashing light on them. So basically if you are in connected services contract, the mib3 file wont be required and it seems least for Seat updates are pushed over the air even if you aren't in contract, but that might be as part of a firmware update. I'd be interested to know whether Skoda out of connect services contract users are getting firmware updates and whether they get the radio logo one as well over the air.
  26. General ŠKODA/VAG comments as I can’t offer specific Octavia advice. As you will be doing high mileage and likely keep your cars for a while. Avoid any car that has not had regular servicing, every 12 months or 10k miles which comes first, I.e. fixed and not variable servicing. DPF and EGR can cause problems when the diesel is only doing short journeys without the regular long runs to keep things clean. Squeaks and creaks are often dry suspension bushes easily fixed sometimes just by applying WD40. Good luck with your search.
  27. Second problem solved. Apparently the camera was defective. I purchased a replacement on eBay and the error message no longer appears. Thank you all so much for helping me.
  28. Forcing a proper emissions test and introducing Euro 7 emissions by 2028 would make a big change to what manufacturers actually build and sell. The current fining or not fining them for not meeting Average fleet C02 emissions is a joke. Then people buying / leasing so First Registering cars might be lighter and more efficient & less polluting. Allowing the current kidology is ridiculous. Plenty cars built now and within the next 5 years and going on the roads to satisfy the needs of UK drivers if they do not want to be buying anything from 2030.
  29. Agreed, driving down new EV prices on some of those @ £37,000 or below. Causing the reduction in the price of some not in the Scheme. Not a help to the UK / EU / European manufactures maybe, not going to help them meet the Target for No Emission Vehicles. Well unless the con of Trading Credits with Partners comes into things. Making use of the manufacturers just producing and first registering only BEV,s or mainly only BEV,s. As it is the price of used BEV,s and dealers ability to shift them and make profits is going to be worth watching. There is going to be a cost to Tax Payers and the economy because of the Financial Institutes / Banks / Lenders which is Pension Funds & Savers money after all, not actually the Banks / Building Societies money.
  30. I had another go at finding the page, and this is a screen shot I tried to grab the url too, but can’t seem to get the link to go straight to the page: https://www.skoda-auto.com/models/layers/layers/the-all-new-kodiaq-plugin-hybrid-technology If you scroll you should find it
  31. It can also be argued (if one were inclined to do so, I don't usually bother) that the UK government have played the manufacturers' game extremely well. By offering a confusing grant parameters that many doesn't qualify, the government have managed to drive prices down without using tax payer's money. But on the other hand, it had stalled EV sales. Yes. Eon next drive off-peak price has gone up, 6.7p to 7.5p. https://www.eonnext.com/tariffs/next-drive Eon next drive smart has gone up by smaller amount, from 6.2p to 6.5p, still offers smart off-peak priced charging. https://www.eonnext.com/tariffs/next-drive/smart
  32. Well I'm impressed we've had our 2022 Superb 2.0 DSG Estate for about 4 weeks, we went out for breakfast on Saturday. We live in the north east of England, the cafe was The Ace Cafe in Wimbledon, London (it's the sort of thing we do we had a nice day out). The reason I'm impressed is that on the way back I achieved 74 mpg, which gave me a tank range of over 1000 miles, our house to La Rascasse in Monaco. I did have a little tickle of the throttle nearer home hence the reduced figures in the photo.
  33. I think my Fabia's Amundsen infotainment unit differs from your car's, but I'm guessing the menus will be similar. This image shows the my unit's "Openings and closing settings" and the three "Door unlocking" choices are All doors Single door Vehicle side "Single door" - only the driver's door is unlocked. "Vehicle side" - the driver's door and the passenger door on the driver's side are unlocked. "All doors" - all four of the car's doors AND THE BOOT LID are unlocked. Regarding Window operation (Convenience opening), in an earlier forum thread I said: A comment on the simultaneously opening or closing of all the car's windows feature (called "convenience" window operation by Skoda). This is set via the infotainment system menu as described on the link below (the video relates to a Skoda Superb, but the procedure is similar for a Fabia) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwL9bo4HkA8 There have been reports that the windows can open spontaneously, either resulting from an electrical glitch or from the key-fob button being accidentally pressed. So, if you have no particular use for the feature, it might be wise to turn it off. The video also shows the Central locking/Door unlocking setting on the display. I THINK the factory setting on a brand-new Fabia is likely to be Driver's door only, which can be disconcerting when you unlock the car and the passengers find they can't get in!
  34. I'm on a service plan so tied to using main dealers but not had any issues with Sydney City Skoda near the airport.
  35. Thanks all for the advice, if I go for it I will get the factory fitted option. 🙂👍
  36. Not meant to be funny. Sone of us who have already transitioned to EVs wonder when the lydites are going to get up with the program. ICE vehicles are poisoning the world and contribution to climate change. Temperature here in Worcestershire of almost 35c are no laughing matter and it will cause hundreds of deaths this summer in the UK and tens of thousands across Euope. EVs are generally very cheap to run as well not progressing human extinction at anything like the rate as ICE vehicle Mr Dieselgate. Next step heat pump instead of gas boiler now an all EV family. The Fall of Because - Killing Joke.
  37. Brakes are done. New Mtec Discs and Textar pads for the 312/256mm octavia setup on this. Also got new slide pins, some bolts etc all new. Don't mind the rust on the faces so much, i'd washed it and put it away Rears while working fine looked a bit scruffy Front pads were poorly. Forgotten they were mtecs own pad. Theyve been squealing this while. In all fairness to them, they did hold up pretty well in all. Took my time cleaning up heat shields and such Paint job on the calipers is good from far, but far from good Arches really need a good clean up Not actually driven it more than a few miles since, paint/coating on the discs hasnt even worn off it. Initial impressions are very good and so far quiet as can be.

We've made it to Lithuania and I've tried downloading the maps in our apartment we're renting and it was completed successfully in 35 minutes. At home, it estimated the time to download at about 3 hours before it kept failing. I'll wait until we're home to update the maps in the car as I'm worried that something could go wrong and I don't want to be without navigation to return home.
  39. Me too, I just drove from Switzerland to Warrington (1300km) on one tank in my 2l DSG 200PS. considering 2/3 of the journey was on the French highway at around 130kph I was extremely impressed. It was always a small gripe with my previous Octavia that the tank was on the small side. Can't fault the superb for long journeys. Cavernous boot space and great for cruising.
  40. It's certainly not 'the future' as it can't do anything with SFD2
  41. They supplied what was marked as the part on their website but i was unaware there were two versions so doubt i'd get anywhere. I took off the parking brake via the normal switch and then ran the 'start lining change mode' in VCDS to roll the EPB back while having a battery charger attached.
  42. Yep, used many times over the decades for different makes!
  43. Done about 100 miles so far and most of those on trip back from the dealer. Overall I like it. As mentioned in the reviews, the brakes take a bit of getting used to with not a lot happening for the first bit of travel. I think one of the reviews labels it a grand tourer and i think that is correct but time will tell. My wife will be driving it the majority of the time and she has a few other things that she doesn’t like in the 15 miles or so that she has driven, but most of those are to do with driving a more modern car with more tech. Only time for one photo today
  44. Good afternoon I'm putting my car to skoda garage In 3 weeks as the problem wasn't solved by me 😀 I did what i was capable on my drive Water still leaking on to the module from pipes above. I clear drain for aircon, dry out footwell Clear ground wires I think airbag module is damage and need replacing. Thank you all for all support and ideas Leaking is somewhere above yellow box but I con not put my fat hands there to locate this leak photos add I will prepare my wallet for skoda visit and let you all know what was it and the total cost Just praying it's less then £1000 Please don't corect me in the price as I want to keep my dream alive unless it's less then that you can cheer me up
  45. Good luck with your new motor and au revoir. All the best
  46. @Codrut20171 - sorry it took long, my network hdd crashed. lucky i still had copies on my laptop. i've now placed the files on my Public OneDrive. MIB2 to MIB2.5 AIO - MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526_1_AIO_MU1440_20230504 MIB2.5 GraceNotes - Folder
  47. In case it's any help to anyone in the future, the cause of this problem turned out to be a faulty relay (the 645 one in the engine bay fuse box), which was discombobulating the ECM. Did a Carista scan, searched the fault code in this forum and found that a very helpful user called Bob3 had experienced and sorted the very same problem.

Calm down a minute and note how well people have tried to answer you. You started the conversation by assaulting all readers, so things weren’t likely to go well. Initially, I’ll admit, I got as far as “Norm Opening” and wondered who is Norm, and what is he opening? Silver did a sterling (geddit?) job of translating for us, but you gave him no thanks, nor offered any confirmation of whether his necessary guesses were right. My comment about the hole was to suggest that perhaps it isn’t a genuine Skoda bar that you are trying to fit. Is it?
