  1. Glorious at Calke Abbey this afternoon. Great to see so many 🐝👍
  2. Recently we've been on 25 day trip to Lithuania to visit SWMBO's family and friends by car. We went on the Harwich-Hook of Holland overnight ferry, stayed overnight in Bielefeld, Poznan and Bialystok before arriving in Klaipėda for 13 nights in an apartment we rented. We then went on to Vilnius for 3 nights before heading home, staying in Warsaw, Dresden, Arnsberg and Calais before taking the ferry to Dover. The car behaved itself all the way and just needed petrol. The outward journey went smoothly with no delays, though we ran into some heavy rain at times in Germany and Poland. The return journey wasn't so good, as there were long delays around Wroclaw in Poland with roadworks and around Essen in Germany, where the A40 was closed for resurfacing, where we got a bit lost in the town. The results of our trip are as below. The mpg suffered on the way home in the holdups as it was showing just over 55mpg when we arrived in Klaipėda, having shown a best of 59mpg driving through The Netherlands with their speed limit of 100kph. The mpg would have also been reduced a little by lots of small journeys around the cities where we were staying in Lithuania.

I use AAwireless with my JVC headunit, there's another thing you can check. In your phone settings, search for Android Auto, you'll get a menu with a few options to tweak and a 'version' option right at the bottom. Tap 'version' repeatedly and you'll eventually get a notification that you've unlocked developer options. Tap the three dots to the top right to get a menu popup where you can access developer options Finally, at the top of developer options is a tick box to enable wireless connectivity

Absolutely, I just don't bother doing jobs like this now, modern engines are so compact and tech loaded, I prefer someone else struggle and get the backache. I'd just get the belt changed just below the service interval for it, it isn't worth the hassle and potential damage to other components. And yes, I service ny own ,and others vehicles, plus I've built engines from scratch in the past.
  5. Today i replaced my screen. From h47 to a H49. I hope the screen demons belong to the h47 and never come back. Easy to swap. 30 min work. My dealer promised to refund me. He had no options but i have.
  6. What a song and dance has come about because of comments from a fully pensioned & invested up member bought 2 drinks while charging an EV. Each to their own. 'Cut your coat to suit the cloth'. Getting BIK, home charging, paid for their mileage etc. All that is missing is Lunch in , Luncheon Vouchers. Green Shield stamps & getting the deposit back on a glass bottle, or before that a bottle and a stopper.
  7. Just spoke to a Skoda dealer who says the part has been superseded by another part that will fit the same cars - 6R0711046 E. Apparently this is the equivalent part from Fabia 2007-2015, also some VWs, Seats, etc.

From 2001 - 2017 rates were set to encourage people to buy lower emissions vehicles Since 2017 they have been set to generate more from new car sales because the figures can be hidden in the sales process. Sadly, my brain can't remember the details, but I probably used the website. However, your phone only connects to one wifi network at a time. Your home network may be stopping your phone connecting to the AA Wireless network.
  12. - Service indicator popped up. Contacted Skoda authorized workshop to schedule appointment for service. Provided evidence for and TPI of "Digital instument panel - flickering indicator" and asked for it to be fixed. Was agreed. Car under warranty - Went to pick up car and was informed that no attempt made to fix TPI. Workshop said they wanted to schedule a separate appointment for that. Me not happy. Left and decided to wait to get TPI fixed until next scheduled service appointment - Year later. Service indicator popped up again. Contacted Skoda authorized workshop to schedule appointment for service. Workshop said they will not be able to install fix under warranty since it had expired. Workshop also said there is at least 1 update available for my car available OTA (system update, v1985 of infotainment). I said my car does not show that there is an update available thus making it impossible to install update OTA. Workshop said they would look into it. Appointment was scheduled. - Sent email to contact address in Skoda Connect app (supportatskodadashautodotcom) asking why my car never has received an Online System Update OTA (only minor updates OTA) despite Skoda themselves are saying that it should work in my car (see my previous entries above in the current topic). Provided them with all evidence needed to prove that I had followed the instructions in the manual. - After several emails back and forth with a first line support person(s), they hand it over to their "technical team". First line support person says "technical team" wants me to schedule appointment with authorized workshop and reply time, date and place of appointment so "our local support team forwards the correct technical solution to the right mechanic". They gave no info of what this technical solution entails. I asked but they did not reply - I replied the details of the appointment I already had scheduled. I emailed the workshop informing them of my conversation with Skoda support (ticket number, my original question, evidence and everything else needed to make sure that the problem gets solved at the appointment). - Appointment day. Left car at workshop. Got call from workshop technician. He said they won't install any updates unless I pay for it since my warranty has expired, including the one Skoda support have asked the workshop to install. He said I have to pay approx. 200 euro for each and every update to be installed manually. I declined. I won't pay for something that should have been working since day 1. - Picked up car. On specification from workshop detailing what has been done, it said I declined to get the following installed: OAA2 (update of OCU, this must have been what Skoda support thought would solve the System Update OTA issue), O3A4 (v1985 update of infotainment) and the TPI (flickering indicator). - Sent email to Skoda Sweden providing them with all the details and asking them to explain how I was supposed to be able to discover during the warranty period that System Updates OTA does not work in my car. - After several emails back and forth with a first line support person, I believe they handed it over to a person actually suitable to answer the question and make decisions on financial matters. In next email the first line support person said that there is a solution available at the workshop and they will get in touch (again no info about what the solution entails) - Got email from workshop asking me to schedule an appointment "to perform the update free of charge". I replied asking what this single update is about. They said it is update of software of OCU to version 0144. - Sent email to Skoda support informing them of this new appointment and asking them to assist the workshop technician. No reply - Appointment day. Left car at workshop. Got email from workshop service manager. Said they had done a bunch of updates and the vehicle is ready to be picked up. Called the workshop and asked what updates they had performed, only one was supposed to have been installed. They said they had manually installed the OCU update to 0144, they had manually installed the infotainment update to 1985 and they had installed the TPI fix for "flickering indicator" all free of charge. Asked the workshop technician how I am supposed to know whether the OCU update actually solved the System Update OTA problem as they have manually installed 1985. He replied alot but nothing made any sense to me. He also said that OTA only started working from version 0135 of the OCU. I told him again that minor updates OTA had worked before in my car and whether he was explicitly talking about System Updates OTA. He replied alot but again nothing made any sense to me. Asked which version of the OCU was in the car before the OCU update. He said 0135. Asked then how come 1985 was not shown as available for download and install OTA. He replied alot but again nothing made any sense to me. Gave up and picked up the car Conclusion (so far) - Positives: despite no warranty, I still got a bunch of updates installed free of charge. Good to know that there exists a reasonable person at Skoda that understands that it is impossible for a car owner to, within the warranty period, discover latent bugs in Skoda's firmware/software - Negatives: still don't know if System Updates OTA work in my car (it would have been so nice to have had this sorted once and for all and not potentially having to endure this again)
  13. Hi, the oil temperature is 125 degrees. You see in the below picture in blue circle that the cooling temperature has pass 90 degrees. It goes further if i press the gas pedal
  14. The rise of the SUV, literally and metaphorically. OK if one does not go at UK NSL and above where that aero drag really tells. I was over in Germany couple of times with a fellow employee. First time Audi A6 and then some Skoda beginning with a K. My God there was a difference in changing lanes at 220 kph (A6 felt whole heap better due to its lower CoG. One thing EVs tend to do well at as their CoG is low as those batteries are as lower as an Adder's bladder.
  15. @lol-lol oh, so the petrol Kodiaq is less clean than the diesel then, and the 2020 facelift and MK2 versions are better still? I expect is because the engine has to work a bit harder in the Kodiaq then it did in the Superb as it has larger body to haul around, catching more wind than my old car did.
  16. Might be worth getting it scanned with vcds as it may ping up something your reader can't read. Check any connectors/wiring that you have disconnected or are in the vicinity of any work you have done in case you dislodged them. Alasdair
  17. As per defsix's first post Transmission-online.shop ECU Doctor ECU.de I used ecu testing https://www.ecutesting.com They are UK based And I found the service very good I have approx 20K miles up since and all is good. It will require you, or your mech to strip, ship and rebuild on return. It threw up a lot for faults that had to be cleared using a reader and doing the basic settings. Not a job for the faint hearted, but the videos ECU testing have on u tube are very good and will talk you through it. I recommend a pump for filling as it takes 6 to 7 L to fill.. Fionn
  18. Is that because your rear passengers are not wearing seatbelts or do you have something heavy on the back seats? When I carry something heavy on the back seat (like a tent) I plug "dummy" connectors in to the seatbelt clips. Since it's a safety system, I doubt it can be disabled. Hope this helps.

they do free updates when required also on the autophix site.
  20. I think all cars registered in 2019 would now be £195, any supplement for over £40,000 would be done with last year? If it had been registered in 2016 with 200g/km it would have been a "J" and now £395 Since 2017 emissions became irrelevant from year 2.

Torch: 3T0947471E and 9B9 if black Holder: 3t094757509A and 9b9 if black I bought the holder separately BUT it's not very nice to se when torch is attached as the 12v socket stays on its own; it's much better look for a pre-owned full panel with the support. Last but not least: when boot is open torch light is halogen yellow, while white led only when detached, not too satisfiied of
  22. The smaller engined cars use the DQ200 7 speed DSG box which does not require servicing or oil changes. It's up to the owners if they want to change the oils at regular intervals. I haven't touched mine and its been fault free.
  23. I would have thought that at 180+ kph there would be plenty of cooling air without the fan. Perhaps the issue is the dreaded shrouded water pump sticking or at least not fully opening? Although I am not sure if this particular engine has it, I think most diesels Skodas do.
  24. all reports which i have seen were about Mk3 not Mk3.FL 2020+ if Monro's shocks are ok, what is rare, and programming instruction is clear, then 15 profiles mod is an option in other cases Bilstein shocks + stiffer Eibach Pro springs without programming (only optional adaptation)
  25. Hey everyone, New user here, Bought my first car on Saturday, a 2014 Skoda Octavia vRS Estate Petrol with a manual box. Absolutely loving the car, should be a car I keep for a long time. So far seems the perfect mix of sensible practically and a fun car to own. Will be looking to tinker with it, most likely the infotainment system, a wealth of knowledge on this forum so far, so lots of reading to do!
  26. Hi, And welcome to the forum! Yeah, there’s a lot of infotainment knowledge around these days as well as everything else related to these cars so you you shouldn’t have any trouble finding out just about anything!
  27. I'm fairly sure that's a MIB2 system which I believe didn't support Wireless Android auto. Even if it did, in my experience with my MY21 Karoq with an early MIB3 system, wireless AA was pretty ropey! My current MY24 system is much better! As @Rbz5416 says , to get wireless , you would likely need an adaptor
  28. There are wireless USB adapters sold to convert a wired system to wireless. But you'd need to research carefully before purchase.
  29. Nothing will work without a service center. So that you don't have to replace the entire display. Tell them what you did so they can reinstall the entire system. You may have to pay, but not as much as for the display. If the dealer has normal guys, then maybe you won't even have to pay anything, just for diagnostics. Good luck!
  30. Sorry buddy - I always see your name against the map update threads. @r0mantik Try the link in this thread for the latest download This thread
  31. Hello children. I’m currently touring the Fjords of Norway in a rental EV. Despite the remoteness (this village has 1 hotel and zero other restaurants) there is ample charging. So far I’ve only needed to charge non-Tesla on Tesla superchargers whilst doing other things (comfort break, lunch, supermarket for supplies) Got a rental Volvo EX40 twin motor, fully loaded with pano roof etc, only has 2000 km on the clock and not a scratch on alloys. One of the label contains a QR code for its battery passport. It says 50% cobalt is recycled. I’ve had both shape Volvo s40’s and 840 before. I’m not a fan of this Volvo, it is clearly still a XC40 ICE vehicle and thus very cramped interior, transmission hump, rear seat are like church benches. Google interface looks nice but it is as laggy as my 2014 Leaf in some places, this lag is why car reviewers think touch controls are distracting. Driver map display doesn’t show nav when using CarPlay, pointless. Pilot assist steering is very twitchy, this 2025 new car is nowhere near as smooth, as capable as my older HW3 Tesla AP. Despite perfect 15-20c weather, it is struggling to get under 300 wh/mi. Personally, I think this EX40 twin motor is worth no more than £45k if bigger interior, similarly speced, equally capable in range and power, more efficient Model Y LR AWD are asking £50k. But pricing it up it is £60k, this is why legacy car makers are in trouble.
  32. 0W-20 with VW 508 00 or 509 00 specification from what I can tell.
  33. No, they're just as bad as the others. Fixed by a set of Bilsteins.

Hello, just a quick introduction. My name is Dacob and my car is a 2020 Skoda Karoq 2 litre diesel. I have had the car since new, use it daily and also tow my 1200kg Swift caravan with it. I have been very happy with the car and its performance and find sufficient power and stability when towing.

I used Carista to code the battery, it worked fine (that was the reason I bought it, but it has been useful for other things). The Autophix scanner that David6253 recommended above also claims to be capable of re-coding the battery, and he tells us that works. That is exactly the point of my question though: how good a scanner do I need? Having checked my Carista contract, I find that I have until January to decide what to do. Many thanks, Alan Addendum: I can see the Autophix 7610 is available on eBay for £57, which would be less than the renewal price for the Carista licence, with no annual recurring fee - so at first sight I’d probably go for that when the time comes.
  36. Thanks for your replies...checked and the passenger door does have a notch. Feeling pretty silly now!!! Thanks again
  37. I can confirm that G13 and G12 evo are fully compatible for top-up or refill. There may be a colour change depending on different pigment of each coolant. Capacity is 7.5 to 8 litres if coolant system is completely empty. There is a possibility of introducing airlocks in cooling system if a special bleeding procedure is not followed - I'd advise a check on this.
  38. Your engine will be fine with G13 coolant for the moment. Do you know if the coolant has ever been changed at the recommended interval? The silicate bag was intended to increase the service life of the coolant between changes, so change intervals will probably be shorter without the silicate additive. I believe that G13 and G12 evo are compatible with each other, but will check.
  39. it's auto DSG7 . yea they mention in the module's description about the clutch pedal complicating the installation. it took the installer about 5 minutes to hook it up, after watching their installation video . also, didn't have to drive much to clear dashboard errors (after reconnecting the battery) - only turned the steering wheel full turn to both sides, "drove" like 10 meters and all errors were gone
  40. Well if you’re ok with any mining issues as long as it isn’t for EV use I can’t really answer that, in fact I give up. There are a whole host of unethical, morally wrong things going on in the world and past conflicts, human rights issues etc that have provided oil and materials for our consumption which have all been generally ignored by anti EV people until it fitted their narrative. If anything now EV use of cobalt is declining as more lfp batteries are used. It isn’t a rational argument against use of EVs.
  41. If replaced by another full ICE or hybrid. If replaced by a BEV, even with end to end CO2 analysis the BEV will result in the owner having a lower CO2 in a year or two at average mileage, depending on the EV and it's manufacturer. I hear rumblings in the UK motor trade the only UK Nissan BEVs are getting the £3750 EV grant and there will be shouts of foul when French EV production is so clean. Nice to see Jaaaguar putting 18000 solar panels on its Wolverhampton plant, unfortunately that plant produces ICE but presumably it will be converted to BEV part manufacture at some point in the future. Course it's not just CO2 but NOX is a big issue too.
  42. It's still under warrantee so take it back and stand your ground. Read up on the consumer rights act.
  43. I’d 3rd? 4th? The injector dying as the issue… Been there had that, paid the bill 🙄
  44. The fact is, that unless you cycle everywhere on a wooden bicycle and source everything you need within 10 miles of your house using a horse and cart, then you cannot use the cobalt and mining use of Earths minerals argument against EVs. Cobalt is used in oil refining and the production of oil rig drill bits, not to mention its use in jet engine turbine parts. All these videos and arguments to try and prove EV production as some kind of evil are a joke.
  45. Couple of shots from the last game of the season..

I have used the AA Wireless device for some years and have not had any issues. Once setup it simply connects to my phone when I get in my car. There are some cheaper options which have been used by others without problems. Good luck with your search.
  47. Hello everyone i am new to this forum. I hope to read a lot off stuff and learn more. I drive a 2022 VRS combi and loving it.
  48. Finally cover for the aircon unit tidies it up Next project also arrived
  49. Goodbye red and hello blue. Been a while since I posted on the forum. It’s goodbye to my red 1.5 tsi sportline and hello racing blue 2.0 tsi sportline. In short, Skoda emailed me last week (12/08/25) offering new car for less than I’m paying now. I replied no as I wanted a 2.0 tsi. Then I received a call offering me a brand new 2.0 TSI in race blue; sportline edition. £45 less a month than I’m paying now. Clearly I said yes and I picked the new car up yesterday(20/08/25). I will miss the red car and it’s excellent fuel economy too but after a 2000 mile European road trip and some very steep hills I fancied the 2.0 tsi and 4x 4 version. It’s more refined, less stress. The fuel economy will be down on the 1.5 and that the tax will be much higher but my man-maths says that the money I’ve saved off the list price makes this easier to accept(better deals on new cars than used ) As standard the sportline edition comes with DCC, progressive steering(??), heated rear seats, some weird parking camera views and heated screens. Pretty good. Insurance is an extra £5.57 a month, not too bad. In the 23k travelled had to replace a punctured tyre and oil sump broke. Made the car sound like a tractor briefly before dying. Fixed under warranty. Am quite pleased with new purchase and even like the fake engine noise.
  50. That could be Rotterdam or anywhere, Liverpool or Rome.... 😉
