  1. At least Half the problems are nothing to do with the car. I have one, I plug it in it charges. Simple.
  2. Sorry about your app problems @Aspman but reading about them (and another member today- Kodiaq IV) I just want to find a MkIV Ford Cortina Ghia and avoid all the technocrap
  3. And some people wonder why others have anxiety about EVs... Stories like this put people off having an EVs as they seem so much hassle compared to dumping a tankful of fuel in an ICE.
  4. I am well aware of that but we pay wind and solar farms at times for energy wasted, if the companies stored it we could actually pay them when it's needed. When we don't need gas the price will still be set by the most expensive input and we will continue pay for waste. They will still make Billions
  5. Radar recalibrated to restore front assist and ACC functions, and MOT passed with no advisories today.

... I stand corrected. It was 1.6 TDI Elegance. I'm afraid I'm confusing it with the car before that 😳
  7. About time too. I've been looking at the Elroq to replace my L&K Superb in the next 2 years. The problem I have, is with the options I would like to have puts the car over £40k. I guess there is now going to be a pause in people buying £40k+ EV's until April. What happens to those that have already purchased a car over £40k, but under £50k?
  8. So with the apps unpaired the car seems to be taking charge when offered by the charger. Although now the VW app no longer shows any % for the car at all. So I think the finger of suspicion is firmly pointed at VW for a botched update since all these issues really started after a VW app update a few days ago. Seems like the one thing that could kill the EV market properly is software. It simply seems like the suppliers are immature in their development of software. This might actually be an area where Tesla can lead since they seemd to be a software company first. The Gov is also doing it's best to kill the market as well. At 3ppm running an electric car is still financially benefitical as long as the electricity is cheap. If we were paying the standard rate for electricity to charge the car it would be cheaper to drive a diesel.
  9. I've been thinking range extenders with a decent BEV range are the way forward for a long time... better still if the ICE element is highly efficient and small capacity
  10. When you just press it, it only unlocks the hatch and you need to use the handle to release the catch and lift the hatch. A long press and the hatch "pops" open. It took me a long time to find that feature.
  11. Business / Commercial users will still do pretty well as will those that can charge at Cheap Tariffs / Home, work etc. Plenty time in the next 3-5 years for some new more efficient ICE vehicles to be on sale before any ban on the new ICE vehicle first registrations. For EV,s now the Luxury VED is from over £50,000. Still £40,000 for ICE / PHEV,s.
  12. OT on EV,s but this was my Mk2 Cortina Delux which had a Engine & Autobox from a 2000E fitted.
  13. If it was your tuner then they should be taking responsibility for that advice; if it’s someone else, then I would run it past Revo and see what they say. There’s a fair amount on t’internet that classically divides opinion - best get it from the tuner themselves.
  14. Electricity has always been a problem in the past because they didn't have the technology to store it, now they do so it's pure profiteering and nothing else.
  15. But the more wind and solar we add the higher the prices seem to go? United Kingdom Record electricity generation: In 2024, renewable sources generated a record 143.7 TWh of electricity, up from 135.8 TWh in 2023. Majority of electricity: Renewables provided 50.4% of the UK's electricity in 2024, exceeding fossil fuels for the fourth time in five years. Key contributors: Offshore wind and solar generation both reached new annual record levels in 2024. Increased share: The share of electricity from low-carbon sources (renewables and nuclear) rose to a record 64.7% in 2024, up from 60.3% in 2023
  16. It's official: BBC NewsElectric vehicle owners to face pay-per-mile taxDrivers of electric cars will pay a road charge of 3p per mile, while plug-in hybrid drivers will pay 1.5p per mile from April 2028. " The Office for Budget Responsibility's (OBR) document has stated the charge would mean electric car drivers will pay a road charge of 3p per mile, while plug-in hybrid drivers will pay 1.5p per mile from April 2028, with the rates going up each year with inflation. The government said the new tax is about "half the fuel duty rate paid by drivers of petrol cars", the report says. " This is whilst removal of 5p fuel duty discount is not removed, again. I think the messaging is all messed up. Buy an EV and get punished whilst fuel duty levy hasn't kept up with inflation. But at the same time, effectively give manufacturers backhanders for emissions to manufacture a brand new EV.
  17. Hey , i just connected a bluetooth module to my oem skoda symphony radio in the cd changer plug in the back of the radio. Its an blth module from aliexpress just so you guys know. I searched on google and it says that thats the right plug where i pluged my bluetooth module. 18. What type of blow off valve have you fitted? In terms of cornering etc, coilovers might help a smidge but Jesus don’t buy cheap ones and be very Very careful about exactly what ones you get. The RARB, upgraded front arb and a front strut brace if not already on it are also good to stiffen the whole chassis up.
  19. Thanks - you could be right, but the rack on my Audi is electric too. I can't think that I've come across it with any other electric power steering cars I've had either.
  20. Yeah you will, as most will quote for a new selector as that seems to be the official way to deal with it on a Fabia. I'll ping you a message on the garage who reckon to have done it cheap so if they are close to you, it might be worth giving them a call.
  21. Hello, not so far. I am running the tank right down to see whether it makes any difference.
  22. Sorry it was in the Mk2 section, i bumped that thread.

Afternoon. I'm a long-time fan of the Fabia. Bought the first (diesel) about 2012 and gave up on it after the fall-out/upgrade after dieselgate and they had to take the engine out every time they needed to get to the filter. Went petrol with a nearly new Fabia 1.2 TSI in 2017 which has been a joy to keep until now because of high reliability and low repair bills. I've referred to answers in this forum for years but thought I'd join properly to seek advice. All the best, Hilary
  24. I looks to me that the wires go the supply side of the fuse location; that is to say the only protection for the wires is an up-supply side fuse of 30A or greater. That will not provide protection to those wires and could cause a fire under fault conditions. Unplug/remove them now. This is a bodge by someone who is not a trained electrician.
  25. Apart from, it is highly likely that loads of them will be company cars or salary sacrifice cars chosen for the BIK and most likely unable to charge at home.
  26. What happens to the value / price of Used ones over £40,000 first registered since April 2025?
  27. Plugging in a PHEV with a 20 kWh battery @ a public charger & 50 pence a kWh, £10. For maybe 55-60 miles on Electric. No incentive there. If Petrol is £6.50 a gallon.
  28. It will encourage plugging it in
  29. Maybe by the time it comes in in 2028 we will have to attach our cars to the digital ID in our phone and make a payment to an app to leave the house 😉 It will detect when we have left the Country so as not to charge us for driving abroad.
  30. The 3p/mile tax is in addition to VED. Just as fuel duty on fuel sold at the pump is in addition to VED. To calculate equivalent, you need to find how much litre you use per year. Multiply by 52.95p/litre and then divide by your annual mileage. The fuel duty now is 52.95 p/litre. It was frozen all the way back in 2011 and includes additional 5p discount. Accounting for inflation, it should be around 85 p/litre now. Simmons Gainsford LLPWhat is fuel duty? | Simmons Gainsford
  31. Hi my name Is Renaud, I'm From the Netherlands and i own a Škoda Octavia III 5E 2020
  32. Try https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/CZ/OCT/753 That might help you get the part number. They can also provide the part usually
  33. Just spoke to a very helpful guy at Apec who confirmed the 10 teeth starter motor will mesh perfectly with the flywheel
  34. Shame they rotted into the ground within 10 years though.
  35. All the above advice is applicable - as usual! But it is a minefield ... it is not difficult to find a xW40 oil that will meet the VW504/507 spec, it is impossible. There are none ... only 0W-30 and 5W-30, in both "normal" and "long life" variantes. There are a number of topics debating the subject, mine theory is that VW geared the engines and the specs towards LL oils that are of lower viscosity and thus diminish emissions and consumption ... and probably fitted a "lighter oil pump" i suspect. The owners manual states: Petrol engines: VW 504 00, VW 502 00, VW 508 00, ACEA A3/ACEA B4 or API SN, (API SM) Keep in mind VW504/507 is the manufacturer approval, but not the lubricant specification, which is the ACEA A3/ACEA B4 or C3 for Diesel ..... a good oil matching that should be equivalent. You also have to cross-check the "approvals" for example, because an oil corresponding to 504/507 like the Edge 0W-30 or the Shell Helix Ultra are both "approved" 504/507 but then are C3 which is NOT listed in the OM as the spec for petrol engines ... since are NOT A3/B4. Yo should also cross-check with relevant other approvals, like equivalent MB 229.51/229.52 or Porsche C30, because it is not a given that the same oil manufacturer "offered" to all car manufacturers their oil for "approval", of they might not be in bed with them to promote a specific product/brand! Like see the French with their Elf/Total, Fiat with Agip and so on. If all this has been enough to give you a headache, you're welcome! I have never been so confused by something so simple in an industry that has managed to complicate even the simpler aspects of their basics! For now and the cold season, I found a good offer for OE VW LL in 0W-30 and will put this, then when the hotter period comes will think again ... Probably the Fuchs Titan SuperSyn in 0W-40, which is not 504/507 but it is A3/B4 Here are the specs to compare with the OE oils, I would do it now but the dog is dragging me to go take her for a walk 😁 https://www.vantagelubricants.com/upload/product/declaration/gbr/pds/SSLL04.pdf
  36. Probably a good idea to post/move to the Octavia 3 forum where fellow owners can offer advice.
  37. Ah this Version is mean. Unit until MJ 21 it is mib 2(2,5)
  38. My understanding, the MIB version refers to the Infotainment system version, and is the same across all Infotainment hardware for a particular model/release/year. The software release version can change as new models or facelifts are produced. For example, my MY21 Kodiaq has Columbus with MIB3, but Amundsen & Bolero hardware for that same MY would also be MIB3, just not all having the same features and functionality. There are guides on the web of how to determine your MIB version. I may be wrong on the specifics, in which case hopefully someone will be along to correct me.
  39. I'm probably an outlier here. I wanted a 1.5eTSI SEL hatch with rear wiper and winter pack. I wasn't too bothered about colour. Visited dealer mid August 2025. A grey metallic car was available from stock, so delivered two weeks later on 1 September.
  40. Seems like it. Not sure why, odd. Mine is just an old 280 4x4 petrol.... But wait till you see Audi prices for basically the same drivetrain. E.g. A3 vs Golf/Octavia. They pay so much more😂😂
  41. All this investment in solar and wind is really paying off for them isn't it.
  42. Thanks all for your advice
  43. Those are seats from Felicia with side airbags. Backrest frames come from Octavia, but they have modified mounting so they could be bolted to Felicia base.
  44. MIB 1 is a very old one, from 2013 as I read. You have definitely MIB 2,5 Columbus.
  45. Might be worth checking wiring to sensor/sensors. Had emission problem on my sons fabia and it was poor connection between sensor and loom. i had replaced sensor when fixing exhaust so I new it was brand new. Cleaned connector which was pretty oily/dirty and emissions were ok Alasdair
  46. This is why going for OE Parts is sometimes the best thing to do; Skoda offer a 2 year warranty on all parts (and labour) so whilst it is more expensive, it might be worth it if there if something goes wrong. As to why you keep failing on emissions; that could be a number of things (not just Lambada sensors). I might suggest running on some Super Unleaded for a couple of tanks and making sure that you give your car an italian tune-up. VAG engines DO NOT like being tickled along....drive it like it was on an autobahn....fast and furious style...you need to keep the revs up (and if you have a DSG, put it into manual mode to hold the revs up). Do a long journey (100 miles plus) and your car should be running a LOT better. Check things like air filters too (in case they are clogged up).
  47. Copper grease is old school wise (my mechanic father always used to do the same) but the torque settings I think are meant to be a dry bolt so on the face/spigot is good but on the threads isn’t the thing to do any more buddy.

I’m going to be fitting a dashcam to my new to me Octavia iV. I have the dashcam, a Vantrue N4 Pro and am waiting for the hard wire kit as it won’t powerup from the USB-C next to the mirror. I’ve also picked up some tools to make it easier to route the rear camera. I’ll try to take photos as I fit it.
  49. Guys, Thank you ever so much for this post. Last Autumn, coolant temp just plummeted, fuel consumption increased, DSG gearbox got snatchy, and worse of all.... Heating was awful this winter. Changed the DSG Thermostat today...... Back to how it was the day I bough my Yeti.
