  1. Well, let's look at it like this: Nick has been complaining about BT for years. Seems to have some delusion that the chairman actually reads the numerous letters and complaints that Nick has sent him (I wonder if Nck sends him a christmas card too.) Sadly, and I suspect it may even be a sign of advanced, progressing age, Nick is living in the past, when the choice was BT or no phone, and has got it into his head that there is no other provider........to such an extent that he even buys BT branded phones, to help swell their coffers......no doubt complaining about how much a BT Decor costs and how few features it has. He's probably got shares in it too. But, to put it into context about how sad and empty Nick's life is........he's measured the amount of water (in inches, because he's not gone metric yet) there is in the stop-c*ck access outside his dwelling. I mean, yes, Disneyland or getting laid mst seem exceptionally dull after that.......where do you go from there for exctement?.....taking pictures of broken pavements maybe? Personally, I can't wait for the next installment of "Old Man Shouting At The Clouds", especially now that The Grand Tour is between seasons. Oh, and Nick.......car tax is due at the end of this month.

  2. I knew I shouldn't have mentioned it haha! They will of course be to some people's taste but I'm not a fan, I don't be deny they work (my Dad has them on the Land Rover, they work well) but there's just something about the look I can't get on with. My C30 had a set on it and they were the first things I removed after handing over the money! Didn't even wait to get home, I did on the forecourt!

  7. If you go to a restaurant and get poor quality food or bad service, and when you complain you get told "tough luck", what do you do? Do you keep going back, or do you look at the reviews for their competitors to find those that sound promising and give one of them a try instead?

  9. Not good Mark - and a symptom i also spotted with Waxaddict Quartz. It did this on my R36 ....when left a bit too long to cure on the bonnet. I shortened the cure time and also did a final QD wipedown and buff to make sure. Thankfully at the time - this worked well for me, and i havent used it again since. Temps recently ave been too low and humidity also being a pain - but i do want to play more with this product.

  10. So I might have had a bit of a bargain on eBay for something for the future Got hold of a set of 4 Siemens 630cc injectors for 1.8t with fuel rail and spacer kit for the grand total of £62! Basically similar to this kit as far as I can tell; https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/ecs-tuning/siemens-630cc-fuel-injectors-set-of-4-with-fuel-rail-spacers-for-1-8t-engine/ Result I think

  11. I don't know anything about the wax you used, so I won't make assumptions regarding it. I use 5 different makes of wax depending on how long I want to be cleaning the car for and what combination of other products I'm using. For a very quick wash and wax, I use Meguires Quick Wax, spay and wipe. For a semi quick job I use Zymol Cleaner Wax or Auto Gylm High Def wax. For my "posh wax" jobs I use either Collinite 915 or Zymol Titanium (this one gets applied by hand!!) I've never had any problems with wax in the way you describe. A hint and top tip I heard was to spray a light mist of water before buffing the wax off.. Never done it myself so I can't say if it works or not. Don't be disheartened, we all have our off days in the detailing world

  12. The Arbarth is looking great bud. Yep, it has happened to me too. Some waxes are more prone to this than others, and when time is limited frustration sets in, and anger. All is well that ends well dude. And getting a pro to correct it might not be a bad idea! Happy wife = Happy life!

  14. Have placed an order for a new Citigo, delivery in aprox 11 weeks just in time for the new £140-00 VED!. The car is in Deep Black with the Climate Control and DAB radio. Have gone for a 24 month,5000 mile PCP. At 0% and £1000 deposit contribution from Skoda the deal was too good to turn down. My birthday is the 28' April so it should arrive just somewhere around then(hopefully).

  15. Well what a git that was! Had a belt noise in engine for a little while now and thought it was the aux belt or a pulley on that belt so didnt really worry and I could have paid the price! When I checked it the noise weren't as far forward as the aux belt and I could hear it was under the cam cover which instantly made me think "o my water light came on today, must be the water pump, o shhhh*******" Needless to say id just bought my tt ball joints, hubs and bearings for my tt arms and really didnt have money left over for a cam belt and water pump kit. Backed into a corner I went on ebay and found a gates kit for just under 100 quid which I think is a great price just had to wait a couple days for payday. The car was driven very smoothly for those few days knowing I could blow it up! So kit came and as luck would have it I was asked to swap a late shift for a early meaning 20 hours between shifts so at 16.30 monday the car went on the ramp. Now im only a diy mechanic, have only done 1 cam belt before and that took me ages so thought id need 6 hours for the vrs. I was wrong! 3.30 in the morning I rolled it off the ramp! Belt was out by a tooth on my first attempt and had issues with the m5 thread tool you need to wind the tensioner down (I bent it In half) but now everythings spot on, car runs better and the old water pump was completely shot which is good. Im a messy one! What was removed, would be nice to remove more pipes and the power steering bottle but thought best not to. Said pipes and a tiny bit of the bottle. Pump was clearly leaking for a while. Cars gonna hit 140k this month so new belt and tensioners gives me peace of mind. Its had a belt in the past as I found old marks and it werent to worn but tensioner was original and so was the water pump. Next up fit my hubs and front n/s lock mech

  18. Yep, if BT lose a load of customers through bad service, are the other ISPs really going to look at that and see it as the way forward? "I'll show BT how annoyed I am by continuing to give them money" seems an incredibly bizarre way of thinking.

  19. Silly me. Instead of punishing bad customer support by voting with my feet/wallet I should carry on dealing with a scumbag company, especially if ripping me off and charging me more than their competitors as it'll teach them a lesson. I think you need your head read Nick

  20. Here's the newest member of the family, a little red and white colour edition. I collected it last week so it now has plates on but this was without, prior to collection. She's a lovely car to drive, granted it's slow to get moving but once you're up and running it really is as good as the reviews have made out.

  26. I'm in the same camp regarding Wind Deflectors; always seen them as a bit ungainly and dare I say it, a bit chav?! However... if the Citigo is anything like the Octavia 3, then opening the windows if there's any standing water on the roof is a massively risky move, as it runs straight off and into the car, soaking the inside of the doors and you. Still don't think I'll stretch to buying some though

  27. The 1.3 is an OHV engine, so the camshaft is inside the engine block. You'll just need to take the rockers off and remove the pushrods: Before: After:

  28. I don't have them on my car Mostly down to a slight ordering error. The great thing is we all have differences and such a wide range of views: ) I'd say it was a good thing to mention it @SashaGrace, good I'll keep an eye out for the car when I'm bobbin around north wales. Although I tend to be more 'beris or south stack way.

  30. The DSG software update being referred to in this thread alters the behaviour of the fluid pump within the mechatronics unit to prevent current draw and overheating of said pump. Takes about 30 minutes and has little if any negative effects. on some units that require a full flash the basic settings "might" be reset and require a few miles before the adaptive driving cycle is re-learned.

  33. I like to drive with the window down. Fresh(ish) air over fanned, I prefer air flowing around my neck, not into my eyes. Something about modern car design drives rain in off the screen. On the citigo it seems to fall right into the window switch on my 3dr anyway. For all the testing I don't think anyone tests driving with the window down a touch. The weight is minimal, there maybe a bit more aero drag, but I suspect the citigo is more brick than arrow. There was a test years ago in the USA, that did windows down v aircon on full and how it effects the mpg. There really wasn't much in it was the conclusion.

  34. Another opinion, just to give balance... my Fab is a 2015 1.2 90 SEL Estate. The front windows don't bother me, I quickly got used to the way they work. And yes, the rear windows are manual, but I carry passengers in the back so rarely that it's not an issue (and those that I do carry haven't commented on it). Agree with the headlamps, but paid Halfords to fit better bulbs for me, so no ball ache or bleeding knuckles for me! Engine noise, well, pootling around I actually find it very quiet: if I put my foot down, I actually find the noise not unpleasant, it does have a slightly sporty timbre to it. I haven't experienced any of the damp/condensation issues, even with regularly carrying a wet dog in the back. Would I buy another? Absolutely, although I intend to keep this one as long as possible (£20 road tax being just one of the reasons). A budget feel? Not from my point of view, the car feels well put together and solid. In the interests of full disclosure, I should point out that my last car was a Vauxhall Meriva, so you may feel that that precludes my opinions from having any validity...

  35. Having been responsible for warranty claims at one of the largest VAG dealer groups in the distant past I feel that you may be miscalling Skoda. It appears to be industrial contamination i.e. airborne pollutants. As an example, a vehicle parked close to railway sidings and the particles in the air from the brake blocks on the carriages. Or, more simply the sap from a tree can cause problems but you would not think that to be the manufacturer's responsibility. All create paint damage but not the responsibility of the manufacturer (any make). Not the manufacturer's fault - any Skoda dealership should be able to identify the culprit. Pound to a penny it is an external influence from the atmosphere. Bill

  38. Hi all. Been hanging around the forum for a while. Some great pictures and some great advice on offer. The only Skoda model I've driven previously was a 2015 Fabia 1.2 Tsi with the DSG box. We hired it from Inverness airport and thoroughly enjoyed driving it around Sutherland. To cut a long story short I signed on the dotted line yesterday for a used 2015 Octavia vRS from Marshall Skoda dealership in Oxford. Can't wait to pick it up on Saturday. We're blessed with some great driving roads here in South Wales so it'll be interesting to to try it out here. Looking forward to being part of this Forum. Rich

  42. All this points to NOT trying to do anything yourself and have the dealership say it's your fault! My simple reckoning is if your new Skoda has a finish/contamination problem that can't be seen on other dealership showroom cars, then it has to be rejected. One reason is the longer you have it the more chance they could say you parked it somewhere and collected the iron dust after delivery. Another reason is there could be more new cars with the same problem and by complaining and causing somebody to pay to rectify your problem, you raise awareness. All new cars should go through VAG formalised pre-delivery checks. Find out if this was done for your car and why it wasn't spotted (forgive pun!). If the paint and finish blemish check is not on their pre delivery inspection form then it should be. If your argument for rejection is accepted I would be asking for a loaner and a trim/accessory upgrade as compensation for the inconvenience and lack of confidence you must now feel in buying the Skoda brand. Hell, Skoda had problems with 'rust' in the past and we don't want to see a re-incarnation of rust in another form.

  44. Maybe on YOUR congested and speed camera roads, not up here though. Plenty of room up here, trust me as an ex Hayabusa owner! Although the facelift is a bit wrong looking the photos of the 245 look pretty good. Price has gone up a little bit too from what I see. Whis going to sign up to be an early adopter beta tester, sorry I mean owner of the first production run
