  1. Many thanks for the replies. I reckon will drain it flush the system and replace with new. I wondered if it was red that had been topped up with water, It looks very pale pink. Not sure when it was changed last so better to be safe than sorry. Don't want to add anything that isnt compatible with whats already in there Alasdair

  3. Thanks for the replies. The one shown on Eurocarparts looks the same as my old fabia 1.9tdi but it had the older engine not pd. Reckon I will have to pull it out and see. Thanks again Alasdair
  4. Sorry its been a long morning. Meant to type 08 not 98. It was made in Dec 2008. Thanks for noticing Alasdair
  5. Hi there I need to change timing belt/water pump and need to find out which antifreeze is in car. Not sure if its pink or light red? I got the car recently and don't know what is in it. Am I correct in thinking that any VW G-12/TL774D spec is ok or would I be better to change it rather than top it up? Not sure if pink and red are compatible? Alasdair
  6. Hello there, Needing to order full filter set and timing belt etc but have come up with a question. There are two oil filters listed one has manufacturer restriction hengst and the other seems standard. Is there any way of telling which one is fitted to my skoda without removing filter. I suppose I could just order them both but its seems a waste. I found on the fuel filter casing UFI but cant see anything on the oil filter housing to help identify it. Its a 98 mk2 estate 1.9tdi bxe. Any help welcome.
  7. Thanks for the reply, Is it fairly easy to get to the connector? It did cross my mind it might be a wiring fault but it makes more sense to be something to do with the dashboard display etc. Also any reccomendations on a good electrical contact cleaner. Alasdair
  8. No I havent touched the car lights. I first noticed the dpf light glowing really dim, almost not noticeable on a very dull day. When I turn the headlights on set to dip the DPF light comes on brightly but also the front fog lights symbol on the dash appear with the dip light symbol. As said the foglight switch is off Have no idea why the two should be connected? Got me a bit confused Alasdair
  9. Hi there hope someone can point me in the right direction. I noticed my DPF warning light is on on my skoda octavia estate. The problem is its only on when the headlights are on. The fog light symbol on the dash is also on permanently when the headlights are on even though the fog light switch is off. If I have the sidelights on there is no dpf light and no foglight symbol. Also when the fog light symbol is on with the dip headlights the fog lights are not on either. I hope that makes sense? When the lights are off I can just see a very dim DPF light but not all the time. Has anyone any ideas. Its confused the hell out of me. I cant see that the headlights would be connected to the DPF sensor at all Alasdair
