  1. It’s not a legal requirement for winter tyres in UK, so impossible for it to fail
  2. I replaced mine with Goodyear asymmetric 6’s, so much more quieter and grippier Although not legal requirement only change tyres per axle (both backs or both fronts) if you can’t do it all at once, just asking for unpredictability if you change one at a time! Have a look for them on like Asda tyres, black circles etc I actually got mine from the dodgy sounding camskill then got them fitted at my local garage for some additional monies
  3. Ah I didn’t know it was only if stationary, seems odd as that’s technically illegal in some circumstances, though never punished
  4. What these cars should have had is a manual button for DPF cleaning, so when you know you’ll be on the motorway or dual carriageway for a while you press the button and it starts if needed. Some vans have this now, which makes sense
  5. Confusing I bet, what have you decided, or still pondering? I’ve not seen anyone on here with issues, so I think you’ll be alright. The superb is a great car, is petrol out of the question? Though I think I heard they even have something like a DPF. When DPF’s were put on cars they should have been unmountable and easily cleaned, I think some French cars are like that, but it’s French cars so no thanks
  6. I believe HVO’s produce about half as much particulates as diesel, so I guess cars with DPF’s would on average need a regen half as much as current diesel would? In general HVO does seem good, but I still think hydrogen would be better way going forward, but for existing engines HVO seems the most sensible way. My local council seems to be moving towards HVO for existing fleet, probably because it’s more expensive and they’re not paying for it 😂
  7. I watched a Guy Martin programme about energy and he mentioned HVO which I’d never heard of, but I’m sure he said it was around double the price of diesel. If they can push for that even better, electric isn’t the answer to a questionable problem. More damage is done to the earth with the constant building houses on fields. Hopefully one day someone high up will say it’s a population crisis more then anything else. I’m going off on one, OP maybe a newer diesel isn’t the answer, but if you were to get one around my age you’ll be fine, based on my experience
  8. Oh didn’t realise they’ve changed it yet again 😮 Wonder if it’s to push people to electric 😒
  9. I do around 3-4k miles a year in my 190 diesel, so it has adblue Never had any issues, regen does its thing very rarely and never had any lights on the dash. I try to drive my car at least once a week and is usually around 15 minutes each way with max speed of about 40. There’s some other people on here with equally low mileage for the age, can’t remember if theirs are diesels too, fyi mines a 2016 with 41k miles, I bought it in 2019 with 30k ish miles on it already
  10. I bet that’s a pain to replace though, or is it attached under the base with vent pipes?
  11. Yeah I reckon that’ll be original, personally I’d find a suitable Varta replacement and have it fitted. If you DIY you’ll need to plug VCDS etc in, change the manufacturer, change ah from 68ah to whatever the new one is, change the bem code value to be whatever but I’d do date format like 15022024, start the car and turn steering wheel full lock left then full lock right and you should be rocking I’ve not done this myself yet but from what I remember that’s the way
  12. I’ve got a 2016 and still original battery, I hardly ever use it though, so get 12v low now and again so new battery/more driving is needed plus seems to past the usual 7 year ish mark when they start to die. Because I’m cheap I’ll be buying a Ctec mxs 5.0 to see if I can keep it alive longer Have a look if it’s AGM or EFB too
  13. Might be worth making your own thread
  14. Have a look at the battery is it the original? If it is then change it, as it’ll be getting on from 2015. Take a picture and post it here if you’re unsure, but you’ll be looking for a BEM sticker, if it has that it’s original. Although it’s not conclusive that it’s the original but most people would replace with a non OE
  15. Lifetime, really? Not that I don’t believe you but have you got anything on that? I personally thought it got moved from 4/5 years to more like every 100K miles Sounds madness for a belt, and not to mention the water pump
  16. Is that to be used with G12evo?
  17. Personally I’d only go with OE, you know it’ll fit and at least last as long as yours has. Have you tried ringing your local dealer for a price? Might find it’s cheaper than the 2nd link, or more
  18. The cartridge still fails as such from what I saw, that’s if it’s the ones which have a mesh fabric covering the pellets, just like the bag
  19. I suspect that the built in uses the TMC if yours is working from traffic announcements, whereas Google maps is essentially spying on you and uploads the data and shares to other users of google maps for traffic, so it’ll be much more accurate
  20. Ah wasn’t sure which is which. I had a nightmare with the springs, hardly any access but iirc you had the light cluster out, but I thought the green anti clockwise to unlock would’ve been easier 😮
  21. I was going to say as you got L&K your install should be easy enough to DIY, I changed mine recently and it was a nightmare but I have version B I think it is without eyelash. Expect a big ish bill to have them fitted, wheel off and arch liners, I suspect some dodgy places might say bumper off which will take hours
  22. As you’ve had the car less than 6 months you’re protected under consumer rights act 2015. Have a read on that then go back to the dealer and ask them to fix free of charge or get a refund https://www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/everyday-money/buying-and-running-a-car/your-rights-if-something-is-wrong-with-your-car#:~:text=Problems with cars bought from dealers,-If you buy&text=You have a right to,of purchase in most cases. Be calling ŠKODA customer care team too, they are actually good, but you do need to be persistent
  23. Insurance renewal came through, £8.26 cheaper than last year. Must admit I’ve heard it’s gone up loads for everyone so pleasantly surprised
  24. Step by step for non competents like me would be amazing
  25. I have to ask, would it have been cheaper just to sell your car and get a new one fully loaded? 😁
